Huile de Leonor Greyl PreShampoo Oil Treatment

I remember when I was a kid green hair was a common problem. Hair got bleached out by the sun and then swimming in lakes and pools slowly turned locks a freakish-looking green by the end of August. We had no clue how to prevent this…and when I got older I experienced similar summer issues with color fading and dryness. Leonor Greyl sent the BIZ the perfect answer for all summer hair protection issues:  Huile de Leonor Greyl PreShampoo Oil Treatment ($57).

Leonor Greyl Pre-Shampoo

Huile de Leonor Greyl PreShampoo

Huile de Leonor Greyl PreShampoo is a blend of different oils that is applied to dry hair. It can be a simple pre-shampoo treatment or it can be used as a protectant before swimming, surfing, or going into the sun. The oil is a combination of refined copra oil that comes from cold-pressed coconut kernels, and mongono oil, which is extracted from the nuts of an African tree found in the Kalahari Desert.

The oil has a wonderfully light, clean scent. It’s very easy to apply, just pour some oil into hands and smooth through hair. Then, go out and swim/sun/scuba to your hearts content and hair is protected from all the chlorine, salt, and UVA/B rays. The oil won’t just dissolve off when you dive into the pool or ocean as it protects hair from water to a temperature of 77 degrees. So in those cooler waters, the oil stays on beautifully. Later, just rinse out before shampooing. This PreShampoo oil is a must-have if you are a big outdoors person!

It’s also a must-have for those with colored, bleached, straightened, or dry hair. Putting this on for ten minutes before shampooing softens and detangles hair. It’s a beautiful treatment and some nights I put it on before bed for a great head of hair the next day.

Huile de Leonor Greyl PreShampoo is a cult classic and for good reason. If you have never tried this elegant haircare line before, I would recommend starting with this truly amazing product.  – Lisa

Leonor Greyl’s Four Step Hair Loss Treatment Regimen

Men aren’t the only ones who can suffer from hair loss. I know that as I get older I seem to have less and less hair – not in patches like the top of my hubby’s head (which he insists is just a cowlick…sure, honey, it’s a cowlick. You just keep telling yourself that.) Instead, my hair seems to just get thinner all over. Leonor Greyl sent us four products from their cruelty-free and eco-friendly regimen for hair loss and I tested them for several months with great results.

Leonor Greyl Hair Loss Treatment Collection

Leonor Greyl Hair Loss Treatment Collection

There are four steps (and five products) to Leonor Greyl’s hair loss treatment regimen:  purify, cleanse, treat, and maintain.   Following these four steps will not only help you fight against further hair loss, they will also increase the amount of hair you have. And here is some really good news:  right now, you can get all five products for $189, whereas separately you would pay $237.

The hair loss treatment regimen minimizes hair loss through plant extracts, oils, and nutrients. The regimen also has the added benefit of leaving hair wonderfully soft and shiny. All the products are safe to use with colored hair and are free of SLS, parabens, and silicone. The products energize your scalp and make hair super strong.

Leonor Greyl Regenerescence Naturelle

Leonor Greyl Regenerescence Naturelle

The first step is to PURIFY with the scalp treatment Regenerescence Naturelle ($60). It has essential and botanical oils that stimulate and clean the scalp, which helps hair grow. I put this on prior to showering, massaging it into my dry scalp then wrapping a towel around my head. I leave it on for at least 15 minutes, although sometimes I do leave it on overnight. The dropper makes it easy to apply and the results are terrific. It leaves my scalp feeling fabulous and I am very happy with my thicker hair.

Leonor Greyl Shampooing Au Miel

Leonor Greyl Shampooing Au Miel

The second step is to CLEANSE, and the Shampooing Au Miel ($32) is the perfect product for the job. I use this all the time and it’s very gentle yet effective. It leaves hair with lots of volume, shine, and bounce. The light scent from the acacia honey and rose extracts is fresh and pleasant.

Leonor Greyl Complexe Energisant

All the info

The third step is to TREAT the hair. There are two products that are included in the Leonor Greyl Hair Loss Treatment Regimen for treatment: Complexe Energisant ($56) and Tonique Vivifiant ($43).

The Complexe Energisant is a leave-in treatment that tackles pretty much every issue that results in hair loss. The effective ingredients include mimosa tenuiflora and collagen, both of which stimulate hair growth. I use one vial a week since my hair loss is ‘moderate’, while those with more serious hair loss would use up to three vials per week. This is applied to a clean scalp after washing, just prior to drying and styling the hair.

Leonor Greyl Tonique Vivifiant

Also part of the treatment step is Tonique Vivifiant, a leave-in treatment spray. This complements the other products and helps to fight hair loss, keeping hair strong and healthy. This treatment, which also has mimosa tenuiflora and collagen, is sprayed into towel-dried hair.

Included in the Hair Loss Treatment Regimen is one more product that I did not test, the Volumizing Styling Mousse, which completes the fourth step of MAINTAINING healthy hair. While I didn’t use that product, I can definitely say that the four products I did test were pretty fabulous.  If you have issues with thinning hair, I definitely recommend trying out the Leonor Greyl Hair Loss Treatment Regimen.  – Lisa

Soft waves?  No problem!

Leonor Greyl Creme Regeneratrice review

Leonor Greyl is becoming one of my favorite lines for hair care.  Yes, the products are scented, but the scent is always so fantastic that I often open the jars and tubes just to take a big inhale.  And the products work as good as they smell.

Leonor Greyl Regeneratrice Conditioner

Leonor Greyl has excellent hair conditioners.  I previously reviewed the Masque Fleurs de Jasmine  HERE, which is fantastic.  And since this is the 30th anniversary of the cult conditioner Creme Regeneratrice ($41 for 3.5 oz tube), it’s a great time to review it.   You can use this as a daily conditioner, or for a real treat leave it on for 20 minutes as an intensive hair mask.  It has lots of wonderful ingredients like seaweed extract, jojoba oil, and vegetable proteins.  It is paraben, sulfate, and silicone-free.

Creme Regeneratrice is a very thick cream that comes in a convenient tube.  I always, without fail, love my hair after I use this, even if I only leave the conditioner on for three minutes.  It makes my hair sleek, shiny, soft, and full of body.

Creme Regeneratrice ingredients

It’s a total winner, especially if you have color-treated damaged hair.  My hair is very fine, and this conditioner doesn’t weigh it down at all.  Yup, it is pricey.  But I think a guaranteed good hair day is totally worth it.   – Lisa

Pretty summer hair with Leonor Greyl

Thirty five years ago, Leonor Greyl and her husband Jean-Marie created a botanical-based hair care line.  They were ahead of the curve, definite visionaries and one of the first to perfect natural, environmentally friendly hair products.  They were also the first to put vitamins in their hair shampoos.  Leonor Greyl has been a hugely successful brand ever since, and is still the height of glamor and prestige in Paris and around the world.

Leonor Greyl

I had read about Leonor Greyl products in magazines, but hadn’t tried anything from their product line until the BIZ was sent some items to test.  We were sent three items to try, including Shampoo Creme Moelle De Bambou ($43), which is for long hair with dry ends.

Shampoo Creme Moelle de Bambou

I was excited because that describes my hair perfectly.  My hair is long, about three inches past my shoulders, and while it can become oily at the crown, my ends are always in need of some moisture.

Smells like summer...

I found this shampoo is truly perfect for long hair with dry ends.  It’s a very thin, liquid shampoo that gives a small amount of lather.  If you shake the tube before squeezing the shampoo out, you get the best texture.  The scent is divine, it smells like spring flowers.  And speaking of divine scents, oh my goodness I sure wish you could smell this next product!

Masque Fleurs de Jasmine

The Masque Fleurs de Jasmine ($60) smells divine, plus it’s a great hair mask.  The scent is  jasmine.  It reminds me of dusk on a hot summers night, that sweet scent of flowers that surrounds you like a big, soft hug.  And the scent lingers in your hair, so as you go through your day you will suddenly be enveloped with that amazing smell, instantly transported to that misspent youth full of lazy summer nights.  Oh, and your hair looks fabulous – super soft, shiny, and healthy looking with amazing body.

Smells sooooooo good!

Looks good enough to eat

It’s a very thick, deep conditioning mask.  I find it works best when I squeeze the water out after shampooing, then apply a thick coating, combing it through with a wide tooth shower comb.  Then I clip it up and continue with my shower, delaying the rinsing for as long as I can.  The longer you leave it in, the better your results.

Serum de Soir Sublimateur

The final step in this awesome hair cocktail is the Serum De Soie Sublimateur ($44).  This is a light, creamy serum that you apply to your hair after it’s been towel dried.

swatch of the serum

It’s a lightweight serum that you really can’t over do.  It gives thin hair extra body, and it really helps get rid of any frizz or fly-away hair.  You can also put this on dry hair for extra control.

Leonor Greyl makes for a good hair day!!

I find that the three products together give me a pretty perfect hair day.  Above I used the shampoo, hair mask, and the serum on towel dried hair.  I blew it dry using a large round brush, and I used a flat-iron just on the ends of my hair.  My hair felt unbelievably soft, and it was shiny and full of body.

I highly, highly recommend these products from Leonor Greyl, a line that has proven for 35 years it knows it’s stuff.  And I can’t wait to try more!!  – Lisa
