Hands Down the Lauren B brand is superb

Lauren B Polishing Hand Scrub, Cuticle Oil, Nourishing Hand Cream

I used to bite my cuticles. It was a tasty snack, had no calories and was always available at my fingertips. It was only when I entered management that I stopped because I couldn’t envision being taken seriously while I was gnawing at my fingers. I went cold turkey with barely a nibble here and there. Although that was many years ago, my cuticles still were ragged and rough. They looked fine right after a manicure but I couldn’t get daily manicures, now could I?

I did try various oils and creams over the years but, after a week or so, my cuticles didn’t improve so I just gave up. Then, as luck would have it, I was sent three nail couture products by Lauren B.:  Polishing Hand Scrub, Nourishing Hand Creme, and Cuticle Oil. For 10 days, I used the scrub once daily,  the creme several times a day, and the oil in the evening. And voila, my cuticles are smooth, my nails look healthy and my hands are soft.

Lauren is the niece of hair-care expert Philip B.  She says: “Our products are proudly made in the U.S.A. and never tested on animals. Everything we create is vegan-friendly and free of harsh chemicals like formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, formaldehyde resin and camphor. For me, everything’s come full circle,” Lauren adds. “As someone who truly believes that nails are the best accessory—and is fanatical on the subject—these are my personal bests, inspired by all things beautiful. I hope they’ll be yours, too!”

Lauren B Polishing Hand Scrub

Lauren B Polishing Hand Scrub

I find the Lauren B Polishing Hand Scrub to be a little grainy so you need to rinse carefully and well. It is pleasantly scented and the fragrance disappears after you rinse. According to the website:

Our polishing hand scrub contains a proprietary blend of potent anti-aging powerhouses such as: Swiss-derived Apple stem cells (they contain peptides-boosting cell turnover, thickening thin skin, fading age spots, and smoothing crepiness), Aloe OilSunflower Seed Oil and Vitamin E (these brighten, soothe, and heal chapping while also providing anti-pollution benefits. Moreover, our proprietary amino-acid complex strengthens and softens your skin.

The result: A fresher more youthful look for your hands in under a minute!

Lauren B Nourishing Hand Cream

Lauren B Nourishing Hand Cream

The Nourishing Hand Creme is lovely- nicely scented with orchid and peony, it leaves your hands smooth. soft and not slippery.  “A super rich indulgence. Laced with antioxidants, peptides and amino acids, this remarkably non-greasy hydrator leaves hands ridiculously smooth and soft. A special delivery system ensures that moisturizing agents sink in fast to plump and soothe for hours. And the heavenly orchid and peony scent alone will make you want a lifetime supply.” says Lauren’s website.  How true.

Lauren B Cuticle Oil

And now the Cuticle Oil which I adore and which I think is making the biggest difference in my nails and cuticles. “Our custom blend of 12 ultra-pure plant, nut and flower oils designed to quickly hydrate your dry cuticles. Also, it is packed with amino-acids promoting healing and revival. Apply with our convenient brush applicator so you can take as little or as much as you need – no mess! We love Olive Fruit Oil, Peanut Oil, Sesame Oil, Walnut Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Lavender Oil, and Geranium Flower Oil.”

Lauren B Cuticle Oil

Lauren B has worked with Sky Hadley, owner of As U Wish Nail Salon and is sharing these cuticle tips

  • Always use a cuticle oil/cream. Having dry, scraggly cuticles is not a good look and may even make you want to pick them, which can lead to a bacterial infection. Using a cuticle oil can make your manicure last longer. Keeping the nail beds and areas around your nails moisturized will make the nail polish stay in place longer. A cuticle oil is a great way to make a two day old manicure look like you just walked out of the salon
  • If you don’t have cuticle oil or cream available, you can use anything from your kitchen! Olive oil, baby oil, or even Vaseline are quick go-to solutions
  • NEVER cut your cuticles, they should only be pushed back. Cuticles are designed to protect your fingers from infections, and bacteria. You should only cut the dry skin around the nail and not the actual cuticles themselves

I will order these three items when I run out and want to try her nail polish next because: Lauren B. is good to me. And will be good to you.  –  guest post by Phyllis

Nail polish greats of 2016

nail-polish-graphic-stock

It’s very difficult for me to narrow down my favorite polishes of the year but since I adore polish and want to be an accomplished nail painter at some time in my life I decided to share half a dozen of my favorites. Leaving something out doesn’t mean I love it any less, just that I didn’t have room for it!

SPARITUAL GOLD in RISING SPIRIT – The bottle belies the beauty within. A subtle but stunning gold that wears magnificently and even repels smudges!

KBSHIMMER FALL 2016 POLISHES make it impossible to choose just one. I love every single one of these. KBShimmer is an astonishing nail company and a brand you shouldn’t miss. I’m sharing The Best Mum Ever as my choice but it was hard to pick. If Oh My Ganache had photographed better that’s what I’d have shown you.

LAUREN B ROSE BOWL stole my heart with its metallic red. I love all the Lauren B polishes I’ve tried but this takes me back to my all time favorite: cool toned red!

Speaking of how much I love red I’ve chosen Dr.’S REMEDY REVIVE RUBY RED. This shimmer infused crimson polish is made by a podiatrist: “Dr.’s Remedy is the first nail polish that received approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association. It doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients likeFormaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Phthalates, Parabens, or camphor. It’s even recommended as a post treatment follow-up to nail fungus and ingrown nails. To top it off it comes in 30 beautiful shades.”

I’ll cheat and throw in another Dr.S Remedy polish that is so spring perfect that it makes me long for the sun: BOUNTIFUL BLUE.

I needed to add a pink because I’m a pink girl at heart. Unfortunately one of my favorite pink shades was Limited Edition but you never know if it’s still available. SALLY HANSEN MIRACLE GEL FLOWER CROWN is one of the best I wore this year. It’s described as a pearlescent petal pink which is a perfect description.

Since I prefer a polish that is holographic it’s easy to understand why KBShimmer makes another appearance on this list. This time it’s ALONG FOR THE TIDE from Summer 2016. I see shifts from pink to violet and from blue to purple.

Last is from Trust Fund Beauty, another brand that I’ve loved the polishes from. The one that stands out most to me is DIRTY THOUGHTS (although the pink Do U Know Who My Father Is could be the perfect cream color).

Lauren B Beauty Nail Couture – long lasting, lovely and oh so luxurious

Lauren B Beauty Nail Couture polishes

Lauren B Beauty Nail Couture polishes

I have a really good excuse for my obsession with nail polish. I bit my nails down as far as I could go for almost half of my life. I didn’t just bite, I went at them like it was my job. It wasn’t a pretty sight and I can’t believe now that I did it for so long. Now when a fabulous company like Lauren B Beauty offers to send some polishes for testing I have trouble sharing with Lisa. I just want them all. I love to look at all my polishes lined up like ducks in a shooting gallery waiting for me to pay attention to them.

Really, would you give away these polishes? I can’t do it. Each one has its own unique beauty that I can’t get enough of.

Lauren B Rose Bowl

ROSE BOWL is the kind of red that is seasonless to me. I love this bright metallic red any month of the year. Stunning for Christmas and so fitting; gorgeous for Valentine’s Day; perfect for fall when the seasons are changing; and terrific on toes.

Lauren B Rose Bowl

Lauren B describes the shade this way – Less traditional than red but just as rich: This vibrant, purple-tinged pink has a hint of delicate silver shimmer, lending it cool, unexpected depth. I am crazy about a metallic finish and Lauren B knows how to bring the finish to life.

Lauren B Ivy At The Shore

Lauren B Ivy At The Shore

Ivy At The Shore has the best description ever. I’d buy it just for this “The Goldilocks of teal polishes, this isn’t too light or too dark – just commandingly pretty. Metallic undertones lend it an elegant, luminous vibe.” Such a perfect description.

I don’t normally choose teal polishes but this is irresistible. The metallic shine lasted 7 full days. The polish didn’t scratch up. I never got tired of it. This is the teal of all teals.

Lauren B Beauty #ImSoLA

Lauren B Beauty #ImSoLA

Lauren B wins the name of the month contest with #ImSoLA. Not only a terrific name but the color is fantastic. It’s a deep raspberry pink that wore like it was made for royalty. All Lauren B polishes are non toxic, eco- and vegan-friendly (with no formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene or camphor), TPHP free, and proudly made in the USA.

This cream finish was shiny throughout the week and didn’t wear away at the tips. The brushes on Lauren B polishes are long and full so it’s easy to get your whole nail bed without working too hard.

Lauren B Nail Protector Base Coat

Lauren B Nail Protector Base Coat

To make your nail bed stand up to any hard work you put your hands through you should definitely consider using Nail Protector as your base coat. This has a very light tint but it never effected any polish I’ve used it with. What it’s excellent for though is smoothing out the ridges you have on your nails. It’s a matte finish but when looking at my nail pictures you can see it didn’t effect the shine one bit. I credit it though with making my polish last longer and apply more smoothly.

Lauren B Beauty Brentwood Bliss and MID City at Midnight

Lauren B Beauty Brentwood Bliss and MID City at Midnight

I’m always attracted by Lauren B Beauty nail polishes. I have a few that I’ve received in subscription boxes and they wear so beautifully. When they offered to send a few polishes for Beauty Info Zone you better believe that I was excited. I received two polishes that are both beautiful but only one suits me well unfortunately (lucky for Lisa though).

Lauren B Beauty has created dozens of shades all are au courant and are quick drying and chip resistant. The brush has twice the standard amount of bristles to deliver a streak free finish.

Lauren B in Mid City at Midnight

Lauren B in Mid City at Midnight

It comes as no surprise to BIZ readers that I’m in love with Mid City at Midnight. There’s everything to love about this color. “This dark blue metallic makes a statement – but not too much of one. Inspired by a night out in downtown L.A. (and loaded with shimmer and dimension), it’s both sexy and unique.”

Lauren B Mid City at Midnight

These deep blue is a cross between royal blue and navy. It’s not inky so the blue truly shines through. The sparkle is so fine but shines through like twinkly little stars on a clear night.

I could wear this polish for weeks on end without tiring of it.

Lauren B Brentwood Bliss

Lauren B Brentwood Bliss

Sadly the second polish, Brentwood Bliss, they sent just doesn’t work for me. It’s not the polish, it’s me. My hands have a lot of redness to them so nudes just don’t look right unless they are pink nudes. Secondly because I bit my nails for years and years, the base of my nailbed isn’t very long but my nails are. This sheer glimmery champagne would be beautiful on shorter nails but I need at least 4 coats to cover my visible nail line.
