KBShimmer nails spring with Peony Pincher and Smells Like Green Spirit

9d69bba71dde3459a032e7a9eb5a7eafYes, perfect nails do make an imperfect life so much better! In my quest for perfect nails I’ve had acrylics for so many years now that my real nails are paper thin…I had no idea how to get out of the cycle, but thankfully I changed manicurists and my new one had just the solution. He buffed most of the acrylic off then put shellac over top. Every time I go in, more of the acrylic covered nail has grown out without the difficulty of dealing with thin nail beds. The best part about shellac? I can put any nail polish over it and it doesn’t affect the shellac at all! I am so geeked!!

In celebration of my newly perfect nails that don’t require totally wrecked nail beds, I’ve been playing with some of the latest KBShimmer spring shades. I can’t wait to tell you about two that are just perfect for the new season.

Peony Pincher ($9.25) is a stunningly gorgeous pastel pink with lavender undertones. It’s part of KBShimmer’s Ultra Flair line up, and it is FABULOUS.

I adore all of KBShimmer’s holographic nail polishes, but this one has gone right to the top of my ultimate favorites list. The pink/purple linear holographic flashes so many other colors that it’s endlessly fascinating in bright light. People constantly stop and ask me about this shade – so pretty for spring.

KBShimmer Smells Like Green Spirit

If you want something a little more on the funky side, I recommend Smells Like Green Spirit ($9.25). This is part of a new collection of 7 Mega Flame holo shades that feature micro holographic glitters in tinted bases.

KBShimmer Smells Like Green Spirit

Smells Like Green Spirit is just so much fun – deep lime with gold, silver, pink…you name it and you can probably find the color somewhere in this refreshing shade. It’s easy being green with Smells Like Green Spirit – I got full coverage in only one coat. Without a top coat it has a textured finish and if you add Clearly On Top top coat it has a beautiful holographic shine.

Peony Pincher and Smells Like Green Spirit are just two of the gorgeous Spring 2016 Collection from KBShimmer. You’ve got to head on over to www.kbshimmer.com to take a look at this fun collection – KBShimmer definitely nailed it for spring.  – Lisa

Frenzy Polish is a beautiful discovery

frenzypolishsticker2There are so many indie nail polish companies now that your head could spin. Between Etsy and googling I could spend days looking for beautiful polishes and end up spending all of my allowance on them. Instead I rely on my beauty blogger friends, especially the nail bloggers to do the discovery. Then I can swoop in and buy what I love on their nails.

That’s how I ended up purchasing FRENZY POLISH – I was reading Cosmetic Sanctuary’s beautiful review on the brand and poof, there I was filling up my cart. This is a real discovery and a brand I’m sure to follow.

My three purchases are POLLEN & PEONIES, STARRY SKIES and WANDA. Happily two of the three are still available for purchase.

WANDA is sold out but when I bought it I had a feeling it would be gone quickly since it was on sale for $6. Nonetheless it’s a beautiful silvery light blue shade that I’m glad to own. As you can see it has the old packaging.

STARRY SKIES is the one I wanted most but I haven’t even had a chance to wear it. Hit myself on the head. It’s a denim blue with tightly scattered holographic polish. If you are a fan of holo polish this is going to be on your top ten list!

POLLEN & PEONIES is the one I’ve been wearing for the last week. When I first had it applied I was a little disappointed, not in the color which is striking, but that I could feel the texture of the glitter in it. Usually when I wear a polish with micro glitter it’s more embedded. But as the week went on, I kept admiring the color and now I’m glad it’s mine.

Pollen & Peonies is described as “Medium pink shimmery base with a tightly scattered holo and red, blue and silver micro glitters lightly scattered in “.  It’s not the shiniest polish on my nails so after a few days I added another layer of top coat to bring the shine and micro glitters to the surface. It’s a wonderful mani shade.

Pollen & Peonies and Starry Skies are both from Frenzy’s Spring 2015. I want to pick up Purple Calla from this collection too. There’s also hints of what’s to come with some polishes like Fatality which says “Coming Soon”. I’ll be there when it comes!

KB Shimmer PT Young Thing holographic nail polish

KBShimmer has some fantastic looking new nail polish shades in their Summer 2015 collection coming out on May 15th and I can’t wait! In the meantime, I am totally loving PT Young Thing ($8.75, press sample), a beautiful holographic shade.

KBShimmer PT Young Thing

KBShimmer PT Young Thing

PT Young Thing is a platinum silver shade that has an impressive holographic effect. Even in low light this shade has mega complexity. The silver is complemented with yellow, green, and blue shimmer. KBShimmer says they only used two types of holographic pigment without any other fillers in order to get the amazing effect.

The base is on the thick side, so be sure to really shake the bottle before applying. Shaking thins it out and makes for an easy application, helped along by the perfect application brush. I am wearing two coats and the KBShimmer Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat ($5.50, purchased by me).

The photos of the Summer 2015 collection are up, although they aren’t available for purchase until May 15th. Head on over to the website at www.kbshimmer.com to take a look, and be sure to put PT Young Thing in your shopping cart too!  – Lisa

KB Shimmer In Bare Form
My goal on Valentine’s Day is get in bare form…how about you?

Ok, so that was rather naughty! Despite my naughty nature, I prefer nail polish that is on the subtle side. KBShimmer’s In Bare Form nail polish ($8.75) really is perfect in name and in color for the day of love, although it is a step outside the traditional pinks and reds.

KBShimmer In Bare Form

KBShimmer In Bare Form

In Bare Form is a light beige polish that looks classically understated…but take a second look and this is a wonderfully complex holo polish that flashes green, gold, and orange. I just love how this can go from office appropriate to dance floor awesomeness in seconds.
