I’ve been using the hand cream and it’s wonderful. It’s not the least bit greasy. You can instantly go about your life after applying just a pea size amount. I’m amazed at how true the scents are. Right now I’m using Fresh Lemon Hand Cream as well as Cherry-Almond. Anyone that knows me knows that scents are not my thing but I love these, I really do. The lemon does not smell fake or like a kitchen cleaner, it’s a true tart lemon fragrance made with natural ingredients. The cherry-almond is to die for. It makes me want to open it just to smell it. You need such a small amount that you’ll think at first that you haven’t used enough but believe me, it works best that way and the jar lasts longer. Since I’m lucky enough to have 3 of these at my disposal I’ve got one in my bathroom, one by my computer, and one in my purse. My hands took a beating this winter and the skin is rough. I want to change that and Keep Buzzin’ is the way.

I keep a tube of this 90% natural, vegan, and gluten-free hand cream at my work desk and people actually stop by just to ask for a squeeze of the white velvet cake-scented goodness. Top Ten Tuesday – nails and manicures

top ten tuesdayTop Ten Tuesday this week is all about nails, manicures and hands. It will be fun to see how the group of Beauty Bloggers decides to interpret this. Will we see a lot of nail polishes? Will we see treatments? Will we see puppies and kittens? (Just checking to make sure you are paying attention. Are you?) Since I’m not a nail blogger I’m concentrating on the items that I need to take care of my hands and feet along with a little about nails. Here are 10+ favorites of mine. — Marcia

1. HAND PERFECTION FROM ELLEN SIROT *- shown is the complete set of products that Hand Perfection carries. I especially love the Cuticle Pen since it’s so portable and easy to use and her daytime hand cream. In the kit is also a night time hand cream that’s wonderful too but lately I’ve been forgetting to use it and my hands notice the difference.
2. ATOPALM MOISTURIZING HAND TREATMENT – this is a new favorite. I love that it’s not greasy. I went on a little shopping spree for Atopalm products and this one attracted me instantly. (I like variety in everything but men!)
3. ECO-ARMOUR ADVANCED BALANCED SERUM *- I know this doesn’t sound like a hand product but the description says it’s for face, neck and nails. I find the scent a little too “eco” for my face but it’s great for my hands during the day. I never thought of a serum for nails but the skin around my nails is always looking for moisture.
4. TWEEZERMAN FINGERNAIL CLIPPER – This is the tool that helps me get back to sleep at night when I’m tossing and turning. I’ve never used it on my fingernails but I do use it on my toenails all the time. If you aren’t plagued with insomnia then you don’t know the feeling of every little thing interrupting sleep. For me it’s often toenails that are too long or catch on the sheets. So there I am at 3 a.m. with my handy Tweezerman nail clipper.
5. BADGER BALM CUTICLE CARE – I haven’t written about Badger Balm in a long time but that doesn’t mean it’s not in my arsenal of tools. The Cuticle Care really helps moisturize your cuticles on both hands and feet. It’s only $5.99 and lasts for ages.
6. AMLACTIN FOOT CREAM – This was in one of the Blush Mystery Beauty Boxes that I subscribed to for a while. It’s probably the best item that I got in all the boxes I bought. I use this often at night and it’s really helped my feet from cracking and aching. It’s creamy so it takes time to sink in but I honestly sleep better when I use it.
7. ATOPALM MOISTURIZING FOOT AND HEAL BALM – Again, part of my Atopalm spree. I wanted to see if it was better than the AmLactin. I like them both but they are different. Atopalm has a more gel like texture and dries more quickly. It’s recommended to use it after your morning bath/shower which is what I do (if I remember). I want softer feet obviously.
8. DURI REJUVACOTE – When my nails aren’t in good condition, this is what I turn to. It’s meant to heal and cure cracked nails. It can be used over polish or as a base coat. My previous nail tech used to use this on my nails all the time to keep them healthy. Now I have my own bottle to use over polish.
9. and 10. CULT NAILS GET IT ON PERFECTING BASE COAT and WICKED FAST SPEED DRY TOP COAT – I’m so happy I bought these when I was buying some Cult Nail polishes. Both are excellent products that I use when I’m working on my nails myself. I often put on a top coat to prolong my manicure and Wicked Fast is so shiny and faster to dry than any other top coat I own. It doesn’t get goopy quickly either like Seche Vite.
Now that you know my “secret” weapons go visit my fellow bloggers to see what they’ve chosen. I can’t wait personally since I know that I’m going to find things that will help me keep my hands looking younger than they do now. – Marcia

Get with the Thymes! Temple Tree Jasmine review

Body Wash

Body Wash

Summer is coming and the scent that brings me there even before it arrives is jasmine. To me, jasmine smells like the flowering trees and bushes at dusk after a warm summers day…that magical moment when it almost seems as if time is standing still. Thymes has created new jasmine scented products called Temple Tree Jasmine, brand new for spring of 2013.  They sent a few products to the BIZ to test which immediately transported me to summer…and to happiness.

Temple Tree Jasmine scent profile

Temple Tree Jasmine scent profile

Thymes says, “Some botany is as lovely to say as it is to breathe. Take Temple Tree, a tree that has not one but three gorgeous names.

First, we have “temple,” which bespeaks its enshrined place in sacred Hindu rites. Next, we have plumeria, a roll-off-your-tongue name capturing the tree’s fragrant night blooms. Finally, there’s frangipani (FRAN-gee pan-nee), as the tree is known deep in the tropics.

Taken together, the three words hint at the many-layered nuances of Temple Tree Jasmine, our newest bath, body and home fragrance collection. Inspired by the ethereal beauty of feminine florals, Temple Tree Jasmine whispers a moment of delicate reverie, pure and sublime.”

It sounds amazing…and it smells amazing. Temple Tree Jamsine is a combination of Temple Tree blossoms, jasmine sambac, honeysuckle, ylang ylang, damask rose and coconut milk.

Temple Tree Jasmine Body Wash ($19) is a beautiful, shimmery and creamy shower gel that foams up into a rich, creamy lather. It smells fantastic, cleans and moisturizes your skin, and rinses off easily.

The Body Lotion is a terrific mixture of shea butter, squalane, and humectant glycerin for tons of moisture. Also inside are ingredients like Madonna lily extract and monoi butter, not to mention the gorgeous Temple Tree Jasmine scent.

It’s a beautiful, snow-white lotion that sinks in quickly and leaves skin feeling super moisturized but not ‘wet’. The scent really stays all day…I’ve gotten more than a few odd looks because I keep smelling my arms.

Hand Cream

The Temple Tree Jasmine Hand Cream ($17) is a much thicker version of the Body Lotion. The ingredient list is chock full of emollients like monoi butter, shea butter, safflower oil and sunflower oil. Plus there’s vitamin E, a wonderful bonus. This hand cream leaves my hands super soft and beautifully scented…and leaves me with a big smile on my face.

Retro coolness with The Soap and Paper Factory

The Soap and Paper Factory

The Soap and Paper Factory

I remember when my friend Joanne asked me to go to Anthropologie with her. I had no idea what the store was like, and she said, “It’s kind of indescribable - it just has the coolest stuff.” We walked in and I went straight to the display of Soap and Paper Factory, which was the coolest looking stuff in a sea of retro coolness.

The Hand Cream ($18) is beautiful inside and out. I adore the packaging, it just looks like something that belongs on the set of Mad Men. The hand cream is thick and rich, with an elegant formula that totally soothes dry skin.

I tried the Bella fragrance, which was inspired by the daughter of one of the owners. It has bergamot, grapefruit, and black pepper in it, so it smells of juicy citrus with a kick. There are several other beautiful fragrances available, like Tuberose, Neroli, Marine, and Fleurs D’Hiver. There is bound to be something you think smells amazing and it’s worth getting every scent for the packaging alone.

AquaVie Protective Hand Cream is great for winter relief – a side by side review

Aqua Viet Hand Cream

AquaVie Hand Cream

AquaVie is a skincare company that is a recent discovery for Beauty Info Zone. Aqua means water and Aqua Vie means “water of life”. This brand comes from Brittany, France: “The region is situated between two seas, the North Sea or the English Chanel, and the Atlantic Ocean. Because of its surroundings, Brittany is the most innovative region in the world for thalassotherapy, the science of aesthetic and health aspects of the human being based on benefits that a marine setting can offer. Studying sea water, seaweed, sea mud and other local marine products, AquaVie was developed to bring the regions rich nutrients to skin care.” Since we can’t go to Brittany, France we agreed to have products sent to us and to have a giveaway for one of our readers.

Today’s review is for Protective Hand Cream ($25), one of the products in their body care line. This treatment is made with Propolis, Hydrolysed Collagen, & Argan Oil plus it contains karate butter and wheat germ oil.

Let’s see what the Beauty Info Zone ladies found when testing this out. Be sure you read to the very end for giveaway information.

Marcia’s side:

aquavie hand labelDirections say to use AquaVie Protective Hand Cream morning and night but I wash my hands quite often so I found myself using it more often during the day. Applying hand cream in the morning helps protect your hands during the day while applying it at night gives it time to restore the moisture into your hands.

The biggest plus about AquaVie Hand Cream is how quickly it sinks in. After you apply you can go on with whatever you are doing within a minute. My hands felt soft and protected.

aquavie openAs much as I liked the feel of this non-greasy hand cream I was unable to use it as a nighttime treatment. As you may know I’m extremely sensitive to fragrance plus I have insomnia. Put the two together and my night products need to be either unscented or the fragrance has to dissipate quickly.  AquaVie Protective Hand Cream has a flowery fragrance. I’m fine with it during the day but I couldn’t use it at night. As I look at the ingredients I see Rosa Canina Fruit Oil and Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Oil. I think it must be the Rosa Canina that I’m sensitive to. If you don’t have a nose that rejects scents like I do though I think you’ll find this quite pleasant. I know you’ll like the feel and what it does for your hands.

Lisa’s side:

aquavie hand cream

AquaVie Protective Hand Cream is hand cream for those of you who love your hand creams as thick as butter. This is ‘cream’ to the highest degree! I am always concerned that an uber-thick hand cream will also be uber-greasy but not this one. It goes surprisingly light and it really sinks right in.

thick as butter!!

thick as butter!!

Like Marcia, I found the fragrance to be very noticeable. For some of you, that won’t be an issue…in fact, I know many people love fragranced items. This hand cream has a floral scent that is pleasant, it’s not synthetic smelling which can be really bothersome. What I like to do with AquaVie Protective Hand Cream is really slather it on my hands and feet at night – I mean like a super thick layer, then put on socks and gloves. I go to sleep and wake up in the morning with baby soft hands and the cracking that happens to my heels in the winter are completely gone! Your dry winter skin will say a huge ‘thank you!’ for this beautiful skin treatment.

Giveaway information: Enter to win a new sealed jar of AquaVie Hand Cream. This is for US subscribers only and is open through 2/20/13 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Wait for the Rafflecopter to see the ways you can win. Good luck!!
