Is Finishing Touch Flawless Hair Remover a yes or a no?

Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover touts itself as being the magic cure to rid women of facial hair. But is it all that it advertises itself to be? That depends on what you are looking for and what results you expect to see.

Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover

This $20 tool is actually one of those “seen on TV” products which I don’t always trust but I have a hair problem – either too much or too little – so I decided to see how this would fare with my facial hair.

Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover

What you receive in your box is the hair removal tool, directions, a AA battery, and a cleaning brush. What’s very cool about the hair removal tool is that it lights up so you can see what you’re doing a little easier.

The top of the Finishing Touch is similar to a men’s electric razor but much gentler. It’s round and when you turn it on it vibrates. To use work it in a circular motion around the parts of your face that you need to defuzz. A con for me is that I found this to be difficult to use in that circular motion, it didn’t swirl easily as it seemed to stick to my face. The most difficult area was my upper lip where it was almost impossible for me to use it in that way.

Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover

If you notice on the box it mainly talks about the finest hairs. That’s where the Finishing Touch shines – removing fine hairs, peach fuzz, on your face.

Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover

What it doesn’t remove well are what I call hormonal hairs, those hard ones that you suddenly feel or see on your skin and become completely self-conscious about. I found that it removes the peach fuzz beautifully and especially like it by my ears to remove the darker hair that grows there. What I didn’t find though is that it removed the thicker hair, whether white or dark, that are my biggest problem.

I have a hairy upper lip and chin area. The dermatologist recommended laser hair removal but I haven’t been successful with that nor could I tolerate electrolysis. So I pluck and shave those hairs. The problem with that is the regrowth which comes fast and furious. I can shave in the morning and see those little dark hairs on my chin by bedtime.

Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover before cleaning

My face is very soft and and peach fuzz free after using this, I’ve been using it twice a week. But I still have to deal with my hormonal hair. It’s a pain and it bothers me to some extent which is why I bought Finishing Touch. I’ll continue on the same path using Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover and continue with my tweezers and razor. It’s been a good buy, just not the cure to my dilemma.

Loving the Silk’n Flash & Go Hair Removal System

Silk'n Flash & Go Express Hair Removal
One month ago I started testing the Silk’n Flash & Go Express Hair Removal System ($200). I have been using it on my legs, underarms, and upper lip and I am happy to report that so far I have had absolutely terrific results.

Silkn

You can read my full initial post HERE, but as a quick recap, the Silk’n Flash & Go Express Hair Removal System is an at-home light-based handheld device for permanent hair removal. The pulsed light effects hair follicles at the root. You use this on clean, shaved skin. After the first treatment, you see reduction in hair growth. You do a second treatment two weeks later, then a third treatment four weeks later, then another treatment every four weeks for another 7 or 8 times. This is an electrical system, so you don’t charge it – just plug it in and it’s ready to go. There are five different levels of treatment and I was able to use the highest level (level 5) on all areas without any discomfort from the get go. The pulse of light feels slightly warm, but it doesn’t hurt at all (and I am a real baby when it comes to pain levels) plus there is no scent of burnt hair.

I am extremely pleased with the progress so far. I did an initial treatment, then another one two weeks after, and I have two more weeks to go before my third treatment. Right now what I am experiencing is far less hair growth…in fact, I’ve gone from shaving every day to about every fourth day. Hair is more sparse and the growth process has really slowed down. Doing the treatments is super quick, easy, and completely painless. If I can get to the point where all I need is a touch up once a month…wow, I can’t even imagine how that awesome that would be.

Silk’n offers a challenge – if after 10 weeks you don’t find it better than shaving, they will refund your money AND buy you razors for a year. Right now I would say this is a challenge worth taking, although I am quite sure you will never need those razors! – Lisa

Beautiful hair is a much coveted thing…but not on your legs, upper lip, underarms, or – horrors! – back. I just received the Silk’n Flash & Go Express Hair Removal System ($200) to test and I am so glad to try it out for you! Actually, since I have tried many hair removal systems I talked my husband into also being a guinea pig for the cause. As the years have passed, the hair on the very top of his head has migrated to his back…and he’s not happy about it. Back hair is notoriously difficult to remove permanently, so it’s perfect for this trial of the Silk’n Flash & Go Express Hair Removal System.

Yes, you can treat any area below the eyes with the Silk’n Flash & Go Express Hair Removal System, which permanently removes hair. It’s ridiculously easy to use, too. The system comes in a case that has everything needed – the hair removal wand, instructions, and electrical cord.

He hates that back hair and can’t wait for it to be gone forever.  Wish us luck!!  – Lisa

Tips and toes and in between with Tweezerman and Alessandro

Tweezerman and Alessandro

Tweezerman and Alessandro

It’s particularly nice to come home to a package from a brand you love and have been using for dozens of years. When Tweezerman sent a package with their brand and some Alessandro products I didn’t know what to use first. All of these are pretty amazing.

My most used product is the PRECISION FOLDING BROW RAZOR ($12.00) which is available in both black and lavender. (Yea for lavender). At first I thought this was like my wonderful folding eyelash comb from Tweezerman until I realized that one side is a wire covered razor. This is a great tool to clean up above your brows and I also have used it on my upper lip to get those stubborn ‘stach’ hairs. Since it’s so portable it’s easy to stick in a makeup bag and have with me for emergencies. This is a very gentle razor, you’re not going to cut yourself on it. Plus I don’t need a 10X magnifying mirror to use it.

Tweezerman Precision Folding Razor

Since I’m obsessed with my nails I was very pleased to see the NEON HOT 4-IN-1 FILE, BUFF, SMOOTH & SHINE BLOCK ($10) which is great for at home manicures. This block will last you forever since it has 4 replacement pads for each side. Changing pads is easy since you peel off the old side and stick on a new one on. This block is great because of its gentleness. Sometimes my nails just need to breathe so I remove my polish, buff them and let them look natural for a day or so before my manicure.

ALESSANDRO PEDIX FEET ONE MINUTE PEDICURE ($25) is the product you need for your at home spa day. You can save a lot of money by using this exfoliating foot scrub on yourself. This is made up of sea salt and essential oils. It’s a very subtle aromatic scent that reminds me of the one my nail tech uses. I have a bench in my shower so I sit and rub this on, until it melts gently away. It’s a little slippery after so be sure you have a washcloth to make sure it’s all off. Your feet will feel so much smoother and look a whole lot better. I find this is gentle enough to use several times a week. It’s good for my ankles as well as my tootsies.

ALESSANDRO NEON PINK NAIL POLISH ($9.50) is my first experience with this offshoot of Tweezerman and it won’t be my last. I actually was surprised when I saw the name was Neon Pink since it’s softer than what my mind thinks a neon polish looks like. It’s just this pretty pink that dried super fast and had great shine. While it looked thin in the bottle, the second coat leveled it out perfectly and made it opaque. I made it through a week without any changes in the polish. Since this has a UV Absorber I think that’s why it doesn’t fade at all.  With 99 colors I won’t have trouble finding more.

Alessandro Neon Pink Nail Polish

Last is a tool that still confounds me. TWEEZERMAN SMOOTH FINISH FACIAL HAIR REMOVER ($20) is absolutely fascinating if you have a lot of facial hair and don’t want to have a lot of facial hair. At the same time it’s a bit scary. It has a spiral spring that grabs the hair by the root to remove it. At the side, just above the red handle there are rotating handles to move to get the hairs.

Tweezerman smooth finish facial hair remover

tweezerman facial hair remover 1  Step one says “Holding the colored handles, center-align the top of coil tip on the area where you want hair removed. Place the flatter side of the coil tip against the skin”.tweezerman facial hair remover 2  Step two says “Rotate the silver knobs on each side of the handles in the direction the arrows are pointing, enabling the coils to directly grab the hair from the root to remove it.”tweezerman facial hair remover 3  Step 3 says “Gently move the tool away from the area and repeat on other areas as needed.”

I tend to shy away from this at times. Where I have the most hair is obviously where I need it but when it starts to hurt I pull away. I wish I had someone to do this to me and make me sit still. I think once I got really used to it that I’d use it more. I’ve tried so many hair removal methods and this is an inexpensive one that I think will work on those who aren’t squeamish about pain.

All in all I’m thrilled with these products. I’m covered head to toe and in between with at home items from both Tweezerman and Alessandro. I even have a mini Tweezerman tweezers that was in the Facial Hair Remover package. I’m a tried and true fan of Tweezerman tweezers and now I have more to love.

Say YES to hair removal on the go with the no!no! MICRO Emergency Kit

prod_micro_trio

I never thought a day would come when the smell of burning hair made me happy. But it is here, thanks to the no!no! MICRO Professional Hair Remover Emergency Kit ($225). If this look familiar, that is because Marcia reviewed the no!no! Pro3 a while back…be sure to read her excellent review HERE. Marcia did an awesome job of explaining the science behind the Thermicon technology that crystallizes and removes hair, so read her review for the nitty-gritty details…today I am talking about the smaller MICRO version that no!no! sent to test. The MICRO is all about hair removal on the go.

no!no! Hair Micro Set

The MICRO has the same technology as the larger version, just in a more compact and portable size. It works on facial hair, neck hair, legs, bikini line…every place that the Classic no!no! works. An advantage to the no!no! hair removal devices in general is that they use heat, not light, to remove hair, so that means it is safe for people with all hair colors and skin types.

The no!no! hair removal devices don’t pull hair out or cut the skin…in fact, I find this system to be pretty painless, although there is the smell of burning hair. However, that smell is GOOD…that means it’s working!!

The MICRO has no cords – it is rechargeable. It comes in a cute travel case, along with two tips – one narrow and one wide – so you can remove hair from large surfaces like legs as well as from small, curved areas like the upper lip. Sorry guys…this device is designed for women!

So why am I loving the portable size of the MICRO?  It is great for travel, and I can even keep it in my desk at the office for those times I look in the mirror and go OOPS…I didn’t realize that was showing! I whip out my MICRO and take care of those pesky ‘unibrow’ hairs or that upper lip area. Seriously, it just takes seconds and the hair is gone.

no!no! Hair Micro Set

everything inside the no!no! Hair Micro travel set

everything inside the no!no! Hair Micro travel set

What I truly appreciate is that the MICRO is effective as a full treatment device as well as an emergency ‘triage’ safety tool. I haven’t tried the full size version, but the MICRO works so well the only reason I’d want the other is so I could keep my MICRO in my work desk full-time.

The MICRO Emergency Kit contains:

  • no!no! MICRO device
  • One narrow Thermicon Tip
  • One wide Thermicon Tip
  • Large buffer
  • Compact Case
  • Charger
  • User manual
  • Quick guide

It comes in three colors:  black, red, or white. I am not sure if the color of the zippered travel case differs, but the one I got with the red MICRO is a pretty bronze-gold. All of the accessories are available for repurchase if you ever need them.

Hair removal is a not-so-fun part of any beauty routine, but the no!no! MICRO makes it quick, easy, and painless. If you are looking for a portable solution, I definitely recommend this. You can find no!no! for sale online at www.my-no-no.com, on Twitter @NoNoByRadiancy, and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/NonobyRadiancy.  – Lisa

No!No! Pro3 – explanation and my first reaction

No!No! Pro3 Hair Removal System

No!No! Pro3 Hair Removal System

I’ve tested hundreds of items in the almost 4 years of Beauty Info Zone but none have had the reaction of No!No! Hair Removal. When I received the No!No! Hair Pro 3 to review from the company I mentioned it to a few people and all got so excited about it. It seems that everyone is interested in knowing if it really works. They’ve seen the infomercials and the HSN presentations and are fascinated. So when a friend who happens to be a beauty reviewer (aka me) has one, the reaction has been enthusiastic.

I’m going to write several articles about the No!No! Hair Pro 3 since it’s not a one time deal. It’s an ongoing process if you really want to see results with controlling unwanted hair.

I’ve discussed facial hair problems before. For my Makeup Wars Resolutions in both 2013 and 2014 I mentioned how I have to stop plucking those hairs. I’ve gone through two series of laser hair removal about 6 years apart as well as a few months of electrolysis. The first set of laser worked for a short time but after two years it was worse than ever. You have to wait at least 4 weeks between sessions so you see hair regrowth during those times and you can’t pluck it!. Electrolysis was just too painful and all the numbing cream and ice in the world didn’t help. The second round of laser did absolutely nothing which might be why it was inexpensive on Groupon. In total I’ve spent close to $1800 for basically nothing. The No!No! Hair Pro 3 costs $290 and it’s mine. No more outlay other than maybe new heads a few times in the future.

No!No! Hair Pro 3 with all the parts

No!No! Hair Pro 3 with all the parts

Today I’ll explain how to use it and explain my first few weeks with it.

The No!No! Hair Pro 3 has what’s called Pulsed Thermicon Technology. It is one of the newest versions of the No!No! and has 3 treatment levels. The company tells me that it’s faster and easier than previous models. There is another more advanced one called the Hair Pro 5 but it appears that the main difference is in the number of treatment levels.

One thing I’ve learned after all my previous experimentation is that there’s no true total hair removal device. Some may work better than others for an individual but in my case nothing has been permanent. What I like about the No! No! though is that I can use it when I want, where I want and don’t have to go anywhere to do it. I don’t have very much free time so when I decide at 1 a.m. that it’s time to use my No! No! there is no inconvenience. The No! No! Pro3 works on all hair colors, skin colors and types. I am considered a good candidate for laser because of my fair skin and dark hair yet it never worked for me.

There’s really no prep for it. I start with a clean and dry face and turn the No!No! on. My goal is to get a smooth movement going so that the pulsing light rids me of the unwanted hair. There’s a wire inside that heats up and crystalizes the hair at the same time it’s whisking it away. This is where the smell of burning hair will be noticed. The important thing to know is that it’s not awful – as a matter of fact it’s minimum. I have the most sensitive nose and this doesn’t bother me which is amazing.

The directions I follow:

1. Make sure your machine is fully charged the first time you use it. That takes approximately 5 hours. Once it’s charged the full battery icon flickers and you remove it from the charger. It holds a charge for quite a long time. I’ve charged mine two more times but I probably didn’t need to, just didn’t want to take a chance.

Thermicon Pulse Tips

Thermicon Pulse Tips

2. There are two tips and you want to pick the proper Thermicon Tip for the job. The wide tip is for larger areas on your body. The narrow tip is for small, sensitive areas like your face, underarms, bikini, and neck area. I first experimented with the wider tip on my arms but since that time I’ve only used the smaller tip since I’m concentrating on my face for now.

No!No! with tip inserted

No!No! with tip inserted

3. Inserting the tip is easy. The two No!No! logos should be facing the same direction and you slide it into the socket pushing it all the way down.

4. Be sure you do a test if you are using it on facial hair by trying it on a section of your face that’s not going to show. Always start at the lowest level; you can always increase it later once you are used to the No!No! It shouldn’t be painful but you will feel a small zap. I started with my sideburns to test it. You want to use the machine in the opposite direction of hair growth. With my sideburns I started at the base of my chin and glided it upwards to my ear. I went over that area about 3 times, waited to see if there was a reaction and then did it a few more times close to my ear.

No!No! turned on to level 1

No!No! turned on to level 1

5. I waited a few days and then tried it on my chin and jaw. This was a little more difficult because the area is small. My chin is the area that I most want facial hair removed so nothing was stopping me. I start on my neck and glide the machine up around the curve. I usually have to pull the skin tightly to make it flat enough for the No!No! to work.  So far I’ve needed to do this several times a week.

6. For the upper lip and mustache area I’m still having a difficult time because the skin area is so narrow there at only 3/4 of an inch. Instead of bringing it upwards (like I did at first) I’ve learned that I have to go sideways. I purse my lips inward and pull down to make the area as large as possible. You then take the machine outwards. Because this area is so sensitive and you don’t want your lips to be touched by the wire, you have to take it slowly and not go over the area too many times. That’s why it’s taking longer to show any results.

No!No! Buff

No!No! Buff

7. After you are finished there’s a Buffer that you can use to remove any coarse stubble like hair. The buffer is actually very soft even though it looks like it would be similar to an emery finish. You rub that in a circular or back/forth motion.

No!No! Smooth

No!No! Smooth

No!No! Smooth

No!No! Smooth

8. Last follow with a moisturizer. It comes with one called Smooth After Treatment Cream which has the ingredient Capislow in it to help with preventing regrowth. The fragrance of this treatment cream is too floral for me so I haven’t used it beyond the first time. Instead I use a rich moisturizer (Neova) to follow up. If you aren’t sensitive to the fragrance I think No!No! Smooth would be your best bet.

Now after this very long explanation you probably want to know my results and feelings. I’m impressed with the No!No! Pro3 but I’m not done with it. Like I said, this is an ongoing process. Even if it removes the hair and leaves me feeling more like a Chihuahua than a Sheepdog, it’s not done. I can turn into a Labrador Retriever if I let it go. I have had good results where I tested it on my arms with less growth than on my face. But I don’t examine my arms with a magnifying mirror. I’m not done but I’m noticing a little less growth and I have hopes that with several months of use that will become the norm.

If you are looking for hair reduction quickly then you need to shave. It will grow back and you’ll need to shave the next day and the next day but it will be gone each day. If you are looking for hair reduction that will get less and less as time goes on then the No!No! Hair Removal products are the direction you should be looking in.

I plan to continue using my No!No! and report back to let you know further results. I don’t have much hair on my legs but come spring I want try it on my legs and really remove the hair on my lower arms. I’m happy to being saying No!No! to hair in the privacy of my home. I just hope I won’t have to say it too often and that my hairiness will be less of a problem when I make my New Year’s Resolutions for 2015. — Marcia
