Going extreme with Philip Kingsley Moisture Extreme Shampoo, Conditioner, and Elasticizer Extreme

In my continual quest for super soft floaty hair, I have turned to Philip Kingsley.  Philip Kingsley takes dull, dry, damaged hair and turns it into lush, swingy hair that could be the star of a commercial. The difference is definitely extreme!

We were sent the Elasticizer Extreme ($45), Moisture Extreme Shampoo ($28), and Moisture Extreme Conditioner ($32).

The Elasticizer Extreme is actually used first, prior to shampooing and conditioning. The instructions say to apply to wet hair before shampooing and leave it on for at least two minutes. This gives great results! I sometimes use it as regular conditioner after shampooing, and it is a wonderful deeper treatment without much extra time. I use it on dry hair with even better results. I smooth on a thick coat of it then put my hair up and leave it for as long as possible. It starts out like very thick conditioner, but then it becomes almost waxy. I rinse it out then shampoo and condition and the result is truly amazing hair.

And I just can’t rave enough about the Philip Kingsley Moisture Extreme Shampoo and Conditioner. This great combo gives thirsty hair exactly what it needs. The shampoo cleans thoroughly but gently. Key ingredients include Sodium Cocoa Butter Amphaocetate that cleans while moisturing and conditioning; Guar Hydroxly Propyl Trimonium Chloride to make hair easy to comb either wet or dry; and Oligoquat M to smooth the hair cuticle. The conditioner is fabulously moisturizing, with Almond Oil for shine; Wheat Germ Oil and Avocado Oil for nutrients and minerals; and Babassu Oil to eliminate static and deeply conditioner hair.

Together these two products give unbelievable hair. Throw in the Elasticizer Extreme and the results are extremely unbelievable.

Stronger hair with Klorane Quinine Shampoo

If you want stronger hair with less ‘fall out’ in the shower, check out Klorane’s Quinine Shampoo with Vitamin B ($19.50). Before Klorane sent this shampoo to test, I had no idea what quinine even was. Quinine is extracted from the bark of a tree found in Ecuador and it primarily does three things: strengthens keratin, makes hair feel thicker, and stimulates hair growth.

Klorane Shampoo with Quinine and B Vitamins

My hair is fine and, while I have oily roots, my ends tend to be dry. It’s not easy finding a shampoo that not only addresses my particular hair issues, but also makes it stronger in general. I have been very impressed with this Klorane shampoo. While I typically have a lot of ‘fall out’ in the shower, I definitely notice less and less of that as I use this shampoo regularly. And a bottle is huge – at only $19.50 for 13.4 oz, it’s a good buy and it seems to last forever.

The Quinine Shampoo with Vitamin B is a shampoo that everyone in your house will like. It has an outdoorsy, pine scent that doesn’t last and it’s just a great shampoo that helps keep hair healthy. You can find Klorane in stores (not really chain drugstores, more like local pharmacies) and online at www.drugstore.com . The website is terrific for finding the best products for your particular hair needs, as well as identifying where you can find the brand locally.  - Lisa

Leonor Greyl’s Four Step Hair Loss Treatment Regimen

Men aren’t the only ones who can suffer from hair loss. I know that as I get older I seem to have less and less hair – not in patches like the top of my hubby’s head (which he insists is just a cowlick…sure, honey, it’s a cowlick. You just keep telling yourself that.) Instead, my hair seems to just get thinner all over. Leonor Greyl sent us four products from their cruelty-free and eco-friendly regimen for hair loss and I tested them for several months with great results.

Leonor Greyl Hair Loss Treatment Collection

Leonor Greyl Hair Loss Treatment Collection

There are four steps (and five products) to Leonor Greyl’s hair loss treatment regimen:  purify, cleanse, treat, and maintain.   Following these four steps will not only help you fight against further hair loss, they will also increase the amount of hair you have. And here is some really good news:  right now, you can get all five products for $189, whereas separately you would pay $237.

The hair loss treatment regimen minimizes hair loss through plant extracts, oils, and nutrients. The regimen also has the added benefit of leaving hair wonderfully soft and shiny. All the products are safe to use with colored hair and are free of SLS, parabens, and silicone. The products energize your scalp and make hair super strong.

Leonor

Leonor Greyl Regenerescence Naturelle

Leonor

Leonor Greyl Regenerescence Naturelle

The first step is to PURIFY with the scalp treatment Regenerescence Naturelle ($60). It has essential and botanical oils that stimulate and clean the scalp, which helps hair grow. I put this on prior to showering, massaging it into my dry scalp then wrapping a towel around my head. I leave it on for at least 15 minutes, although sometimes I do leave it on overnight. The dropper makes it easy to apply and the results are terrific. It leaves my scalp feeling fabulous and I am very happy with my thicker hair.

Leonor

Leonor Greyl Shampooing Au Miel

Leonor

Leonor Greyl Shampooing Au Miel

The second step is to CLEANSE, and the Shampooing Au Miel ($32) is the perfect product for the job. I use this all the time and it’s very gentle yet effective. It leaves hair with lots of volume, shine, and bounce. The light scent from the acacia honey and rose extracts is fresh and pleasant.

All the info

The third step is to TREAT the hair. There are two products that are included in the Leonor Greyl Hair Loss Treatment Regimen for treatment: Complexe Energisant ($56) and Tonique Vivifiant ($43).

The Complexe Energisant is a leave-in treatment that tackles pretty much every issue that results in hair loss. The effective ingredients include mimosa tenuiflora and collagen, both of which stimulate hair growth. I use one vial a week since my hair loss is ‘moderate’, while those with more serious hair loss would use up to three vials per week. This is applied to a clean scalp after washing, just prior to drying and styling the hair.

Leonor

Leonor Greyl Tonique Vivifiant

Also part of the treatment step is Tonique Vivifiant, a leave-in treatment spray. This complements the other products and helps to fight hair loss, keeping hair strong and healthy. This treatment, which also has mimosa tenuiflora and collagen, is sprayed into towel-dried hair.

Included in the Hair Loss Treatment Regimen is one more product that I did not test, the Volumizing Styling Mousse, which completes the fourth step of MAINTAINING healthy hair. While I didn’t use that product, I can definitely say that the four products I did test were pretty fabulous.  If you have issues with thinning hair, I definitely recommend trying out the Leonor Greyl Hair Loss Treatment Regimen.  - Lisa

WOW is right…Color Wow Hair Products

I was watching The Simpsons the other day and Marge was pretty upset at Homer for spilling family secrets…including the fact that she colored her hair using blue dye #56. In fact, Homer says, “She’s been gray as a mule since she was seventeen.”

Who knew she colored her hair??

Who knew she colored her hair??

Guess what Marge? Me too! But I don’t care if people know I color my hair. What bothers me is when it fades even before I need my roots done. So I was happy to test Color Wow’s Color Security hair products, especially since Marcia reviewed and loved their Root Cover Up.

Color WOW Shampoo

Color Wow Color Security Shampoo

The Color Wow Color Security Shampoo ($22) is sulfate-free, which helps prevent color from fading. Even though it doesn’t have sulfates, it still has a nice, thick lather. The amino-heavy ingredients keep hair strong, shiny, and moisturized. Plus, it has LCD technology to prevent the hair cuticle from swelling. This is really the key to keeping hair color vibrant.

Color WOW Conditioner

Color Wow Color Security Conditioner

The Color Security Conditioner ($23) works great with the shampoo since it has conditioning agents that don’t dull hair color. Instead, it has Sealicon color shield complex, which actually creates a smoothing shield around each individual hair strand, making your ‘do’ wonderfully shiny. It doesn’t weigh my fine hair down at all, instead creating lots of body and volume.

Color WOW Pop and Lock

I think my favorite product from Color Wow is the Pop & Lock Crystallite Shellac ($18). This super cool styling product seals in moisture, locks in color, and makes hair extremely shiny. See the shimmers? That’s mica, and it really makes a difference. Hair is stunningly shiny but still looks natural.  I love this, especially since I don’t have any other hair product like it.

If you have been gray as a mule since you were seventeen, or if you just color your hair for the fun of it, definitely try out Color Wow hair products to keep that color looking amazing.  - Lisa

Miss Jessie’s Leave-In Condish

I am forever on the hunt for hair products that put moisture back into my hair without weighing down my fine hair strands. I read about Miss Jessie’s products on other blogs and thought the line would not be good for me since I don’t have super curly hair – but I was wrong!

Miss Jessie Leave-In Condish

Miss Jessie's Leave-In Condish

Miss Jessie’s Leave-In Condish

Miss Jessie’s Leave-In Condish ($11) was sent to us to try, and I am so glad I was able to check it out. This is a very light-weight leave in conditioner that gives me the moisture my hair needs without making it flat and greasy. It leaves my hair soft, smooth, and bouncy. Oh, and another benefit? No frizz!

The superbly moisturizing and volumizing ingredients include soybean and aloe. If you have dry, curly hair you will love this – and if you have straight hair that needs moisture, you will love it too. It’s a fabulous option for making dry, frizzy hair a thing of the past.  - Lisa

Two beautiful hair care bargains: Marc Anthony Moisture Gloss and Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hair Spray

Lately I have been into ‘updos’, braiding my hair, putting it in a bun, or at the very least curling it. For Christmas, my mom got me The Perfecter (I’m sure you have seen the infomercial!) and that has made curling my hair extremely easy. While it’s probably best for people with short hair, for my long layered hair it gives me a smooth, softly curled look in about 3 minutes. To assist in my hair styling adventures I experiment a lot with different hair care products and some of my favorites were sent by Marc Anthony. Marc Anthony is a very reasonably priced hair care line that you can find online here or at drugstore.com, and it is also easily found at stores like Ulta and Walgreens.

Moisture Gloss

Marc Anthony Moisture Gloss Daily Drops

Moisture Gloss

Moisture Gloss Daily Drops

The product that really first defined the Marc Anthony line is the Moisture Gloss Daily Drops ($7.99). Oh my, talk about getting yourself some shiny hair!! This has micro-refined silicones that actually penetrate the hair shaft instead of just sitting on top of it. It only takes a few drops for my mid-back length hair so the price is right and a bottle lasts a very long time.

Moisture Gloss

What Moisture Gloss Daily Drops can do for you!

I massage a few drops into my damp, towel-dried hair and I have no static and no tangles. I end up with super smooth, super shiny, and completely frizz-free hair. I also use a few drops on my dry second day hair to freshen it up without weighing it down.  Moisture Gloss Daily Drops is an excellent product that is also a fantastic bargain.

Pro Finish Hairspray

Pro Finish Hairspray

Another big favorite of mine is the Marc Anthony Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hair Spray ($7.99). I like hair spray that holds my curl, but doesn’t leave my hair stiff or crunchy. This is a fabulous hair spray that truly does the job. It keeps my curls, yet my hair is still touchable and soft. Whether I use a little or a lot, Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hair Spray never gives me flaky hair.  t does have a bit of a scent, but it’s pleasant and it quickly dissipates.

Marc Anthony has some really terrific hair products at bargain prices. Pick these up the next time you see them at the store, you won’t be sorry.  - Lisa
