Panasonic nanoe Compact Hair Dryer

Panasonic nanoe Compact Hair Dryer

Meet my hair’s new best friend, Panasonic Beauty Compact Hair Dryer with nanoe™ technology. She’s a travel dryer but she’s oh so much more. While this is small in size it’s incredibly powerful and does the job of a larger, more powerful hair dryer with ease.            press sample

She’s been designed for fast and easy styling no matter where you take her – the gym, traveling, or home. She’s just 13.1 oz and 8.7×3.2×6.1 inches so she fits in your purse, your carry-on, and in your gym bag leaving room for all of your other necessities.

PANASONIC created nanoe™ technology which draws moisture from the air to infuse hair with moisture-rich particles 1,000x richer than typical ions to reduce damage caused by everyday brushing and enhance hair’s smoothness and shine.

Panasonic Compact Hair Dryer with the quick dry nozzle

My hair is just shoulder length but it takes forever to dry. It just retains water. Imagine my surprise then when this 1400 watt hair dryer was able to dry my hair in a shorter time than my 1800 watt regular dryer. I thought it was a fluke but noooooooooo… I’ve been using it for weeks now and it’s just as fast as the first time I used it.

The secret behind nanoe™ technology and your hair is that it helps reduce the damage that would be caused by heating your hair for a long time as well as brushing it. It has 3 settings though no cold button. I’ve only used it on high since my hair wouldn’t dry at a lower temperature. High power is a strong hot airflow, Medium is a gentle hot airflow, and Cool is your cool airflow so that you don’t need that extra button.

Just above the quick-dry nozzle is the nanoe™ outlet. The nanoe™ outlet works just as well with or without the nozzle but I really like it with the nozzle since it helps with drying time. The Quick-Dry Nozzle provides strong and soft airflows for concentrated styling, fast drying time and smooth, shiny, healthy looking hair.

This is the newest member of the Panasonic Beauty hair dryers and they’ve done an outstanding job. The cost is $99 on Amazon and on the Panasonic website. There’s a  different model available online at Ulta.com that’s $129 and has 1875 watts and a diffuser.

With Spring Break around the corner what better time to get yourself some sunscreen, a new bathing suit, and a Panasonic Beauty nanoe™ Compact Hair Dryer. — Marcia

Adventures in blow drying with the Dura Chi Handshot Hair Dryer

Dura Chi Handshot Hair DryerI have become pretty open-minded about beauty products. Stuff I swore had to be a bad idea – like a rotating foundation brush (Doll10 BlendSmart Rotating Foundation Brush) and a facial cleansing oil (Enchanted Apothecary Clarity Cleansing Oil) have become favorites. So I’m game to try just about anything – even a blow dryer that doesn’t have a handle. My adventures in beauty have had some happy endings, so I was optimistic about the Dura Chi Handshot Hair Dryer ($145) sent to me by loxabeauty.com.Dura Chi Handshot Hair Dryer

Dura Chi Handshot Hair DryerMy hair stylist always uses and recommends Chi hair dryers. She says they are some of the best in the industry and they last forever. The Dura Chi Handshot Hair Dryer is definitely a high quality hair dryer that quickly dries hair and leaves it soft and shiny. What makes it unique is the body style – there is no handle, so you grip the body of the dryer instead. Or you can set it on a flat surface for hands-free styling.

You can set this on a flat surface for hands-free styling.

You can set this on a flat surface for hands-free styling.

  • Handle-Free Design – promotes a more balanced and efficient drying angle that allows the stylist’s wrist to sit in a more comfortable position
  • Touch Sensitive Screen – Easily controls temperature and speed levels with a single touch
  • Ceramic Heater 1875 Watts of Power – Maintains consistent heat with ceramic heat technology.
  • Soft Touch Grip and Grooves – Non-slip, soft touch grip offers control during use as well as molded finger grooves for additional comfort
  • Hands-Free Drying Stand – Uniquely designed dryer stand enables the dryer to stand alone on a flat surface for hands-free drying capabilities
  • 2 Year Limited Manufacturer Warranty

I really had no idea how I was going to like it…I mean, how could a blow dryer not have a handle?? This hair dryer totally surprised me and I love it. It’s actually easier to use than a regular hair dryer because it goes in all sorts of positions without a handle in the way – somehow it’s more balanced. The body has a soft touch grip that means you aren’t going to drop it and it is very light and easy to maneuver. It also has a nifty touch-sensitive control screen that makes for all sort of combinations of heat and speed.

The Dura Chi Handshot Hair Dryer comes with nozzle and diffuser attachments – I tend to use the nozzle for my bangs, but when I want more all-over drying I go without any attachments. I am not sure how a stylist would like using a handle-free hair dryer all day, but for personal use I think this is amazing. If you are in the market for a new hair dryer, I highly recommend this. Go out of your comfort zone and take a chance. I think you will love your new adventures in hair drying!  – Lisa

Revlon One Step Hair Dryer and Styler – not what your mother taught you

I’m going to show my age today when telling you about Revlon One Step Hair Dryer and Styler. You see when I was growing up I battled my mother with how I wore my hair. I liked my hair to lie straight and I wanted to wear a headband in it all the time. Instead my mother insisted on using these on me:spoolies box

Spoolies

Spoolies

OMG, the horror of it all. You never knew which way the fussy curl was going to land; they were uncomfortable to sleep in and I usually still woke up with wet hair; and I cried a lot!

No more crying these days since we’ve come a long way in what we can use on ourselves and our daughters. I’m sure there are still tears because that’s just how girls are but hopefully less with the advancements made with hair drying and styling.

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler

One such advancement is Revlon’s One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler. This would have been the ideal hair tool when I was growing up. It does it all in one step. When using this I towel dry my hair and then put in my leave-in conditioner. I comb through so my hair is straight and let my hair dry a little longer while I do some of my bathroom basics.

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler

That’s when my Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler starts creating its magic. This eliminates my hair dryer, my brush, and my flat iron. It does it all with just this one machine.

There are two heat setting plus a cool setting making it better for use all thicknesses of hair. The cord swivels so you don’t need a degree in gymnastics to use this. I wish the cord were a little longer but if your plug isn’t far then the 5.5″ length will be fine.

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler brush

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler brush

The brush is a large 3″x5″ paddle brush that’s cushioned so it’s comfortable on your head and doesn’t pull. Even though Revlon calls this lightweight I don’t really agree with that. It’s less than 1 lb though so I might be in the minority.

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler

This works best on the length of my hair. I use clips and separate my hair so I’m drying and straightening it in sections. The top of my hair is a little more stubborn when using this but if I save it for last it’s dry enough to make the job easier.

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler from the box

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler from the box

My recommendation for the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler is that it’s best for hair that’s at least shoulder length and not too curly. It helps eliminate frizz and will keep your hair pretty darn straight. The drying power is 1000 Watts so it’s gentler on hair than most hairdryers plus being faster there’s less chance for damage.

If you have hair horrors like I did, look into this 21st century hair tool. And don’t use Spoolies on your daughter!!  — Marcia

The Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler is $49.99 and available at Ulta, Target, Amazon, and more retail outlets.

Love it or hate it? John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air Brush

John Frieda Frizz Ease

John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air Brush

*pr sample

Here at the BIZ we focus on products we love. There is enough negativity in the world as it is…if we don’t like something, we probably won’t even review it. So when I tried the John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air Brush ($39.99) and hated it, I thought there was no way I could review this – and it was particularly ironic since since it’s one of Marcia’s favorite hair tools of all time!! Then I decided to try it out on my daughter’s hair…and guess what? Now I wouldn’t trade this baby for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

John Frieda Frizz Ease

John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air Brush

At first, I assumed this was basically a curling iron with a brush attached. But it’s not a curling iron, it’s a blow dryer. Use it on towel-dried hair to smooth, dry, and de-frizz hair, all the while giving it the volume and slight curl that a round brush will give you. I have very long hair – mid-back, super long layers, and while my hair is fine I have tons of it. So…if your hair is similar, this is not the drying/styling device for you. My hair is too long to wrap up in the brush, which means I have to start at the root and slowly move through my hair to the bottom…so it takes forever to dry my hair. And then, while it certainly leaves my hair smooth, it doesn’t give it much volume or curl.  For the time and the so-so results, I felt the Salon Shape Hot Air Brush just wasn’t worth it.

Then I figured I would give it a shot on my daughter Annie’s hair. She has shoulder-length fine hair with bangs and layers. Honestly it is a pain in the butt to do her hair because she is such a wimp…everything hurts her; she fights every bit of product and every stroke of the brush. When I told her I wanted to test this on her she almost cried. Then a Christmas miracle happened….she LOVED it and her hair looked the best it has ever looked!

John Frieda Frizz Ease

John Frieda Frizz Ease

The 1 1/2 inch titanium ceramic hair brush barrel is easy to maneuver and the bristles are soft enough to be comfortable, but firm enough to hold hair. It has 500 watts of power, two heat settings, and a cold air option. It dries shorter, layered hair so quickly and painlessly I could not believe it. Now my daughter is always begging me to do her hair – or doing it herself – and then spending a half hour staring at the fabulousness of her hair style.

The bottom line is, if you have long, heavy hair there are better options for you. If you have shoulder length or shorter hair, or shorter layers, you will be thrilled with the John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air Brush. I’m so glad I gave this a second chance!  – Lisa

Want sleek, shiny hair fast? Try Jose Eber Quickshine Infrared Blow Dryer

Jose Eber Quickshine Infrared Blow Dryer

Jose Eber Quickshine Infrared Blow Dryer

Are you in the market for a new hair dryer?  If so, make sure the Jose Eber Quickshine Infrared Blow Dryer is on your list.  I was sent one to test and I am impressed!

While this is a professional grade hair dryer, it’s extremely lightweight.  It uses Far Infrared light, which means it dries the hair cuticle from within – and that means your drying time is cut in half.  It also makes hair sleek and shiny.

The blow dryer comes with a nozzle attachment which is worth using.  I have always kind of thrown them away or lost them deep in a drawer, but the nozzle helps concentrate the air so hair really dries quickly and gets that awesome shine.  Here is everything you need to know:

  • Powerful, professional-grade blow dryer with a 1500-watt DC motor
  • Uses far infrared light to help infuse gentle heat into the core of the cuticle, not the surface of the hair shaft
  • Helps decrease drying time, drying hair quickly and completely
  • Helps provide high shine and smoothness
  • Emits cooler heat as it dries to help eliminate hot spots and burns to the hair and scalp
  • Helps minimize heat damage
  • Cool shot button helps set your style
  • Ultra lightweight, portable design can go with you anywhere for quick styling
  • Ideal for all hair types

I found this for $159 at  www.JoséEberHair.com and for $99 on hsn.com.  – Lisa

Makeup Wars with Voloom, Soniclear and Conair Infiniti Pro

This time around Makeup Wars is talking Beauty Tech Tools. I’ve decided to introduce 3 new ones that I’ve been lovingly using. I’ve repeated others so many times that it’s time to recommend some that you’d love to own or even give as gifts this upcoming holiday season. These were provided to me by the companies for review but they didn’t make me love them, that’s my own!

MICHAEL TODD TRUE ORGANICS SONICLEAR

Michael Todd True Organics Soniclear

Michael Todd True Organics Soniclear

What you get with Soniclear is a cleansing machine for face and body. It comes with two different size brushes unlike more expensive machines that are only for the face or even more expensive ones that do both. This covers it all while being deep cleaning and gentle to your skin.

Michael Todd Soniclear

Michael Todd Soniclear

Soniclear has 6 speeds so you can find the one that best suits your needs. When you use this with your cleansers you’ll find that the serums and moisturizers you use after absorb more efficiently into your skin.

Michael Todd Soniclear brush for face

Michael Todd Soniclear brush for face

What makes the brush on Soniclear so unique is that it has exclusive built-in LIFE antimicrobial product protection. One of the biggest complaints with Clarisonic is keeping the brush fresh. That’s not a problem now that Michael Todd True Organics has credited the Soniclear. The innovation of the brush keeps it bacteria and odor free. This is a true sonic machine, it doesn’t just spin or vibrate to cleanse, it uses true sonic technology.  You’ll want this on your holiday wishlist for sure.

INFINITI PRO by CONAIR 3Q BRUSHLESS MOTOR DRYER

INFINITI PRO by CONAIR 3Q BRUSHLESS MOTOR DRYER

INFINITI PRO by CONAIR 3Q BRUSHLESS MOTOR DRYER

At some time in your life I’m sure you’ve owned a Conair hair dryer. I know I’ve owned many. But nothing I’ve tried from Conair has come close to this Infiniti Pro 3Q dryer. It is the most technologically forward machine they’ve created.

INFINITI PRO by CONAIR INIFINIT PRO3Q BRUSHLESS MOTOR DRYER

INFINITI PRO by CONAIR INIFINIT PRO3Q BRUSHLESS MOTOR DRYER

3Q stands for Quick, Quiet, Quality and I am here to tell you that they got that right. The hair dryer dries my hair very quickly giving it less time to become frizzy. It dries equivalent to a 2000 Watt machine. It’s not noisy and it’s not heavy; all big assets. It has Titanium Ceramic Technology which uses infrared heat to gently blow dry your hair. The ionic technology helps reduce frizz and enhance shine.

Conair Infiniti Pro switches

I love the way the controls are situated since I don’t accidentally change them when using the dryer. It has 3 heat and 2 styling speeds as well as a cool shot to help set your hair. It comes with both a concentrator attachment and a diffuser attachment. My last dryer only had the concentrator so I had to try to find a diffuser that would fit it. Not always easy.

Conair Infiniti Pro 3Q attachments

This retails for $139 but I’ve found it for both $119 and $99 (Walmart) which makes it a good price point for a special lady’s gift.

VOLOOM

Voloom

Voloom

The Voloom is the newest and most interesting hair styler on the market. If you have midlength or longer hair then this is the tool you want to banish the flatness and add oomph as you do.

Voloom wafflelike plates

Voloom wafflelike plates

It looks like a crimping iron but it’s not going to give you that old style hair unless you want it. Instead it’s for creating more volume in the underlayers of your hair. Pin up the top of your hair, then use the fast acting unit to create layers. You don’t leave it on very long, I count to 5 and release, then move down and repeat. On my current shoulder length hair I use it only 3 times but when my hair was longer I used it about 4 times per side. When you are done, unpin your top layers and let them cover the work you’ve done. What you end up with is volume and smoothness. It lasts for about 2 days for me. I can also use it on second day hair as a way to perk it up. With that I use a heat protectant, let it dry and then follow the same procedure above.

Voloom

Voloom

When you buy the Voloom HERE you’ll also get a heat protection case, a teasing brush and 3 clips that are perfect for holding up your hair. This is the gift for the girl who loves styling her hair yet seems to have it all. They don’t have the VOLOOM but they’ll love it once they do.

Karmin G3 Salon Professional Hair Dryer goes the distance

Karmin Salon Professional Hair Dryer (myhairstylingtools.com)

Karmin Salon Professional Hair Dryer (myhairstylingtools.com)

I know I’m not alone when I say that having a good hair day is very important in a woman’s life. I can’t tell you how many teachers would complain about their day and say it was because they had a “bad hair day”. I think we all feel that way at some time or another. For me it’s always. I no longer wash my hair daily so I depend on my styling tools to work well and get me through an extra day or two.

Karmin G3 Pro Hair Dryer

Karmin G3 Pro Hair Dryer

Karmin has been in the hair business for years but mostly known for their flat irons. Now they’ve introduced their first hair dryer, the Karmin Salon Professional Hair Dryer, and happily sent one for review. This pro dryer has all the right elements:

1)      It uses ceramic heat from ceramic coils which helps to maintain even temperature for hair styling.

2)      The ceramic seals the cuticle, repels humidity and most important to me it helps with locking in my color.

3)      It comes with all the extras you could need. Attached is a narrow nozzle but they also supply an extra nozzle which I’ve never seen before. There is a professional diffuser too that fits perfectly. I probably have 3 diffusers in my house that fit nothing.

4)      The cord is extra long which helps especially when I’m traveling.

5)      It has 3 different temperatures and 2 different speeds and a great cold air button.

6)      It has 1875 watts which is exactly what I look for in a blow dryer.

7)      The cool shot button actually works to set the style. It feels cool not wimpy.

Karmin Pro Hair Dryer controls

When I first received the box I worried how I’d lift the dryer, it was so heavy. But it’s really no heavier than my previous dryers. The packaging is luxurious and since it contains all the extras plus a velvet carry case that added to the weight.

Karmin G3 Pro Hair Dryer

Karmin G3 Pro Hair Dryer

I absolutely can not use a hotel blow dryer. Even when visiting friends in faraway places (or close) I’ll look at the blow dryer they keep in their guest bathroom and know I’ll be spending my entire trip drying to get my hair dry, only to come out and have it frizz instantly. I need a powerful hair dryer. My hair is about 2 inches below shoulder length and it is on the thick side. Hairdressers complain about how much water my hair retains when their arm is about to fall off. They should be investing in this Karmin Salon Professional Hair Dryer. This thoroughly dries my hair without drying it out. It is very quick because the motor is so powerful. With all the choices of speed and temperature too it makes it a snap to style my hair.

This Karmin retails for $189.99 on their website but the best price I’ve found is $159.99 at My Hair Styling Tools. From what I understand too Karmin has specials that they announce on their Facebook page. While $160 is a lot to pay for a hair dryer, you won’t be replacing this. This will last and last and last. It has a 3 year warranty which I have a feeling you’ll never need. When you buy the best you don’t have to worry about replacements.
