Masks of the month – Hada Labo Tokyo and ToGo Spa

I am a masker that’s all there is to it. Somewhere along the line I became enamored with masks of all kinds. Give me a sheet mask and I’m happy. Give me a mask in a tube or jar and I’m going to have a ball. I love what they do to my face and my spirits. They are a quick way for a pick-me-up and they have wonderful benefits. This month I’m featuring two mask companies that sent me masks that you need.

ToGoSpa masks aka Treatments have been favorites of mine for years. I have a collection of the Under Eye Treatments to use whenever I need some plumping and help with fine lines. There are now 4 versions of Eyes ToGoSpa but this was my first experience with the coconut ones.

These masks have so many benefits:

  • Improves circulation and stimulates production of new, youthful skin cells.
  • Relaxes, calms, and pumps up moisture-retention levels to new heights.
  • De-puffs and reduces dark circles with skin-brightening ingredients.
  • Relieves irritation and redness calming compounds.
  • Minimizes pores with clarifying, cleansing oils.
  • Hydrates crepe-like skin and resurfaces fine lines.
Coconut EYES

Coconut EYES

Eyes by ToGoSpa in Coconut Eyes are probably the most hydrating of their eye collection. There are 3 masks in a package ($12.50 but $10 on Amazon) and are worth every cent. Using a pair before a night out is a delight. My wedding anniversary is coming up and I’ve saved one set to use that day to make my husband appreciate his “bride”. They call these their staycation masks since they’ve added Coconut Extract which gives this a tropical gentle aroma. Adding Allantoin helps with the moisturizing. I love how my under eye lines are softened and look rejuvenated for at least two days.

Not only did I save one of the eye treatments but I’ve also saved one  Lips by ToGoSpa to help make my lips look more kissable. So far ToGoSpa just has these in Coconut but I’m sure they’ll expand the line once everyone finds out how wonderful these are and the benefits of them.

Lips by ToGoSpa

Lips by ToGoSpa

Lips by ToGoSpa are perfect for date night or everyday use. They help with dry lips or chapped lips as well as making your lips look fuller and more moisturized. I’ve used them prior to wearing a matte lipstick and noticed a nice difference since my liplines weren’t as prominent and my lips looked plumper. Give yourself 20 minutes and you’ll appreciate the combination of natural high-density marine collagen, enzymes, amino acids, natural marine minerals, trace elements, proteins and vitamins.

COCONUT LIPS – Purified Water, Chitosan, Sea Algae Extract, Collagen, Coconut Extract, Cellulose, Hyaluronic Acid, Magnesium Phosphate (Vitamin C), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Vegetable Glycerin, Allantoin, Lavender Oil

These are activated by your body temperature and shortly after application you’ll feel them getting softer and more pliable. The nutrients are stored in the lip mask and release as you are lying comfortably savoring your spa experience.

Lips by ToGoSpa contain hyaluronic acid, vitamins C & E, are cruelty free, and contain no dyes or parabens. You really will love what these can do for your lips. In the warmer weather I’m going to put them in the refrigerator before using.

I can’t forget about a sheet mask and like to do one on a weekend morning. Hada Labo Tokyo Ultimate Anti-Aging Facial Mask is making my special time a great ME time. I have long used several products from Hada Labo Tokyo and think it’s a great line. I often recommend their hydrators and moisturizer. Well now I can recommend their Ultimate Anti-Aging Facial Mask too.

There are 4 masks in the box so you’ve got weeks of pleasure using them. When I’m looking at anti-aging products I’m always thrilled to see Hyaluronic Acid as a main ingredient. These have “super” hyaluronic acid so I’m especially thrilled about that. “Proprietary combination of 3 types of Hyaluronic Acid.  Powerful hydrator and skin plumper that provides multi-layer, long-lasting moisture to restore and strengthen skin’s natural hydrating levels.”

This is a cotton fiber mask that is absolutely loaded with serum. They say they use a full bottle (0.7 oz) to help with hydration and firmness. Each mask is very wet so I wear a nightgown or old tee shirt when I’m going to use one. They don’t drip down my face but I like to lie down to keep all that goodness on my face. Keep it on for 10 – 15 minutes and don’t rinse after. You may want moisturizer and sunscreen but you’ve got your dose of serum to spread around your face already.

I think this set of 4 masks is very reasonably priced at $14.99 but even better is that Target and Amazon have them for $7.39 which is the best price ever. Recommended use is 1 to 3 times per week, my use has been once a week. I’m very happy that these are fragrance free.

As a mask aficionado I’ve just shared with you 3 of my favorites. If you haven’t used these yet, I’m not sure what you are waiting for!!  —  Marcia

Fabulously hydrated skin with Hada Labo Tokyo

Hada Labo Tokyo

Hada Labo Tokyo

I’m excited about sharing the brand Hada Labo Tokyo with you. I’d heard about it, all raves I might add, but didn’t really know much about. It was sent for review and I was attracted to the pretty springlike packaging of cherry blossoms. Then I sniffed (since I always do that) and didn’t find a fragrance. That made me very happy. Even though I’m not as sensitive to fragrance as I used to be, I much prefer fragrance free products. Being fragrance free isn’t enough though for a good review, the products have to prove themselves.

Hada Labo Tokyo is the first Japanese skincare company to launch products at the mass merchandising level. It’s an extremely popular brand in Japan that’s been in business since 2004. One of their mottos is “Perfect and Simple”.  I agree. They’ve eliminated all unnecessary ingredients and additives. The line is free of mineral oil, parabens, fragrance and dyes. What it’s not free of is goodness and effectiveness.

Hada Labo Tokyo’s Anti-Aging Hydrator and Skin Plumping Gel are amazing. I want to shout from the rooftops that you need to try this affordable brand that is loaded with incredible ingredients. I am totally sold on this brand. I cannot get enough of the Anti-Aging Hydrator especially. Just ask my friends since I talk about it all the time.

The Anti-Aging Hydrator ($17.99) is called a moisturizer but I consider it to be a serum or pre-moisturizer. It’s very lightweight and nicely moisturizing. It has a very liquidy formula so it doesn’t appear to be moisturizing but I promise that it is. I enjoy letting it sink into my skin as I start my day’s beauty routine.  I feel like it’s giving my skin a long drink of water while working to reduce fine lines. It contains Retinol Complex and Collagen so it’s working on the firmness of my skin. On the few days I don’t wear makeup, I still use this as soon as my face is washed. Even though the directions don’t say so I read on Musings of a Muse that you should actually put this hydrator in the palm of your hands and then press it into your skin. It feels stickier when I do that but it doesn’t seem to make my face sticky. What I never do is use a cotton pad with it – why waste this preciousness when your hands do the best job? The only criticism I can think of is that I sometimes get too much out of the packaging but I just slather it on my neck and chest when I do.

Hada Labo Tokyo makes 5 products that are sold at Ulta and drugstore.com. They say that the Replenishing Hydrator, which is a similar product, is sold every 2 seconds in Japan. I believe it. Both products have hyaluronic acid which my skin thanks me for using. The Anti-Aging Hydrator though is perfect for my skin’s texture and I will gladly buy this when I run out.

The second product I have is the Skin Plumping Gel Cream which is more of a true moisturizer than I consider the hydrator to be. It’s in a jar and it looks more gel-like than it feels. It’s not slippery and slidey on my skin (I think I just made up the word slidey!). These two products work wonderfully together but I’m going to save the Skin Plumping Gel now for warmer weather. I used it for at least a month but once it got super cold with bitter winds I knew I needed something that was heavier. The Skin Plumping Gel Cream is a lightweight moisturizer but still a powerhouse. It’s the product with the highest percentage of Hyaluronic Acid in the entire Hada Labo line. Most of us are used to a cream as a moisturizer so when you first try this out you might be concerned about its ability to plump and dehydrate. Don’t be afraid. This moisturizer is going to meet your needs especially if you combine it with one of the Hydrators. To top it off it’s only $24.99 and you can use coupons on it. Ulta often has 20% off coupons that don’t include prestige so they’d work for Hada Labo.

I look forward to applying the Anti-Aging Hydrator every morning. I don’t want to switch it out for any other brand I need to test. This is product that I plan to keep on using. The Skin Plumping Gel Cream gives me another reason to wish this brutal winter would hurry on by; I want to get back to using that too. These products are loaded with hydration, gentleness and protection. I give these an A+ on their report card.

Have you ever tried any of the line? I’m anxious now to try out the other products. — Marcia
