Would you want some Wantable cosmetics? Of course you would.

Wantable Cosmetics for July 2015

Wantable Cosmetics for July 2015

Each month WANTABLE SUBSCRIPTIONS delivers unique boxes to their subscribers. While Lisa loves the Intimates and Accessory boxes, I am truly a Cosmetic maven and that’s the box that I love getting from them (pr sample). Whenever I see a Wantable review online I like to read it to see what they sent to the subscriber and I’ve yet to find a duplicate among them. One thing I have noticed for the last few months is that the brand DOUCCE has made a big appearance. I’ve received three different Doucce products and other than the fragrance of the lipstick each has been a great addition to my cosmetic wardrobe.

The one thing that surprised me this month is that I received two items very similar to my June box. I was a bit put off at first but when I went to use them I realized just how much I liked the additions for July. In June I received a Doucce black liquid eyeliner and this month I received a Frankie Rose gel eyeliner in black. June and July brought me mascaras but they are as different as can be. The Chella Water Resistant mascara from June is great for a daily mascara while the Doucce mascara is wild and crazy (and a great look).

Doucce Volumizer Mascara in black

Doucce Volumizer Mascara in black

DOUCCE VOLUMIZER MASCARA is called PUNK VOLUMIZER MASCARA on the box. I was intrigued and frightened at the same time. At my age the word Punk isn’t in my personal vocabulary but what was the harm of trying this? Doucce says this mascara defines lashes one by one making them thicker and adding spectacular volume. My puny (unpunklike) lashes actually did end up with spectacular volume. I can only imagine what they’d do for someone who had great lashes to begin with. This is NOT a mascara I could wear daily because it eventually flakes on me but when I’m going out at night and just have a few hours, it’s definitely a go. The retail price of this mascara is $24. If I were to return it (which I won’t) Wantable would refund $10.67 towards my next box.

Frankie Rose Limitless Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Midnight

Frankie Rose Limitless Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Midnight

I wear eyeliner every day of my life though I wear brown more than black. I was a little upset with another black eyeliner until I tried FRANKIE ROSE COSMETICS WATERPROOF GEL EYELINER in MIDNIGHT. This gel eyeliner is incredibly smooth and applies like a dream. It’s a rich dark shade that’s smudge proof and waterproof. When I use this I’ll use Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover to get it off. It won’t wash off but it’s doesn’t stain. I’m a fan of Frankie Rose Cosmetics so whatever Wantable wants to send me from the brand is wonderful. The eyeliner comes with a small brush (2 1/4 inch closed) that opens to 3 1/2 inches. I prefer my own brush but this is pretty decent. Like the Doucce mascara the price is $24 with my price being $10.67.

Manna Katar Eyeshadow Stick in Spellbound

Manna Katar Eyeshadow Stick in Spellbound

MANNA KADAR EYESHADOW STICK IN SPELLBOUND is the third item and one I was excited to see. If it’s eyeshadow then I want it. What’s not to love about a taupe eyeshadow? Welllllll – it’s sparkle city. But it’s not the kind of sparkle that falls down on the job. Once I put this eyeshadow crayon on everything stays where I put it. It sets quickly and there’s absolutely no fallout. My cheeks and under eyes don’t end up glittery. This $24 eyeshadow is great with the punk look of the mascara so these will be a couple. And I’ll do my eyebrows next time I wear them – oops.

The last item in my box is a SETA Eyeshadow Brush. This brush brand is new to me. I have Tools listed under my Love column in my preferences so I’m always happy to find a brush, especially one for my eyes, inside. This pretty teal brush is firm yet soft and is manmade and costs $18 (return value $8) but I couldn’t find any more information about the company.

This month’s Wantable Cosmetic box has a value of $90 so you’d come out ahead with this $40 box. If you kept all the items then you’d have a $4 credit and next month’s box would be $36. Wantable has been sending out cosmetics for a few years now and they just keep making some great choices. When you are thinking of a subscription, think Wantable. — Marcia

Some cosmetic fun with Wantable this month

my Wantable April 2015 Cosmetics subscription

my Wantable April 2015 Cosmetics subscription

My April Wantable Cosmetic Subscription box is so much fun this month. It’s got color products galore. It was like getting an Easter basket for a makeup fanatic, the only thing missing was chocolate. April’s box was sent for review, we include affiliate links for Wantable so we can build credits to get the boxes.

Wantable has changed the way they are doing business and it’s for the better. The first box you buy will cost you $40 but if you subscribe for future boxes it drops to $36. They also tell you the Wantable value of each item by dividing the products up to equal $40. This way you can return items you don’t want and get a credit back on your next box.

For April I received a blush, eyeshadow, lipstick and a blush brush. Almost a whole face! The total value is $81 which is double the price of the subscription so it’s definitely a value. One item for sure is being returned though so that will add to next month’s credit.

The product that dazzled me is MIRABELLA PINK BLOSSOM EYESHADOW. This is from their Wild Flower collection and it’s stunning. Not only does it have the prettiest design I’ve seen but the color is stunning. This collection has Prismatech shades that are shimmering beauties. They cost $28 each which is a lot but boy is this gorgeous. This is my favorite product for April and probably for the last few boxes too.

If this was a horse race then we’d have to have a photo finish to see if FRANKIE ROSE PINK LADIES blush ($17) came in first since this is a winner too. I’ve reviewed a Frankie Rose palette with neutral blush before so I knew that the quality was amazing. I feel so lucky to have this very cool pink blush now to add to the other lovelies. This looks scarily bright in my pictures, almost neon, but it applies so much softer and it’s easy to buff down with a brush or puff to soften it more. The finish is satiny and gorgeous.

For lips there’s a lipstick by DOUCCE. This is a new brand to me and the packaging makes it a stand out. It’s sleek, contemporary, and snaps shut so it will stay safe in your cosmetic bag. I have it in #909 TANGELO ($20). I didn’t swatch it because I’m debating whether or not to keep it. The color is beautiful so I’m very tempted. The lipstick is a Mineral Matt with SPF 10 and vitamin E. But it’s so fragranced that I’m worried I’ll wear it once and not again. I keep smelling it though because I want to own it. What to do?? I wish I didn’t have such a sensitive nose!

The last item is the one I’m returning and I’m sorry that I am. It’s a SORME BLUSH BRUSH ($16) which I was excited to see in the package but the brush is scratchy and my cheeks are too sensitive to use it. I love tools in my Wantable subscription boxes but this one just doesn’t have the quality. Instead I’ll return it for a $7.90 credit towards my future boxes.

With two absolute winners, one maybe and one return, I still made out perfectly and I’m still excited about the box. A hit and a miss from Wantable Cosmetics

I’ve been a subscriber to Wantable’s Cosmetic boxes for several years now. Occasionally I receive a box for review which I did with the two boxes I’m going to share today. I’m grateful when that happens and hate to bash them if there’s a miss but one of these two boxes is a total miss for me which is unfortunate. Let me know if either of these would be a hit or a miss for you.

FEBRUARY’S COSMETIC WANTABLE BOX:

Wantable Cosmetics for February

Wantable Cosmetics for February

As usual there are only full size cosmetic items in this package. A subscription costs $36 per month and this February box has a value of $77 which is makes it worth twice as much as paid.

1) BODYOGRAPHY LOOSE COMPLEXION POWDER in PORCELAIN ($24) – this has a very smooth and silky texture and the color is perfect for my fair skin.

Bodyography Loose Complexion Powder in Porcelain

2) BODYOGRAPHY MAKEUP REMOVER WIPES ($12) – this contains 50 wipes. I’ve never seen a package of wipes this big. It’s double the typical size. I won’t use this on my eyes even though it says it can remove waterproof makeup but these will get used. It should last me for months and months.

3) LORD & BERRY LIQUID EYELINER in BLACK ($24) – I’m a huge fan of liquid eyeliner though I do have enough black liners for the next few years. This is a truly waterproof liner. I couldn’t get it off my hand with water even hours later. It’s not my favorite type of packaging since I tend to be more messy with a short brush but when I want long lasting, this will be it.

Lord & Berry Inkglam in Black

4) FRANKIE ROSE LIPSTICK in PINK MELON ($16) is the prize in the package. My blog partner Lisa has reviewed several Frankie Rose products but this is my first experience with them and it’s a winner! This lipstick is beautifully pigmented and has a beautiful shine all on its own. It’s creamy and moisturizing.

My March box has me confused and you’ll soon see why. The value of this box is $66.50 and contains 4 full size products.

1) BODYOGRAPHY NAIL LACQUER in FANCY FREE ($8.50) is a very pretty spring peach cream polish. Even though it’s a full size, Bodyography’s polishes are a little smaller than most.

2) AU NATURALE LIP & CHEEK TINT in PARISIAN PINK ($22) is a conundrum. The color in the pot is very appealing.

The color once applied is basically invisible. I like a light lip but this is totally clear on my lips. And it doesn’t show up on my cheeks. I got one swatch seen below to photograph and never could recreate it.

3) and 4)  BILLION DOLLAR BROWS BROW POWDER in LIGHT BROWN and in TAUPE ($18 each) – UM, why did I get the same product in two shades? And since my hair is dark brown can I really use Light Brown?

Billion Dollar Brow powder in Taupe and Light Brown

Billion Dollar Brow powder in Taupe and Light Brown

I’m sure the idea behind this is to mix the colors but this just doesn’t work for me. I’ve got it already in Taupe (which they couldn’t possibly have known) and I like it in Taupe but I really wish they had sent me a totally different product instead of the Light Brown.

I don’t think you’ll have a problem knowing which is the hit and which is the miss. The great thing about Wantable though is that they have a no hassle return policy. On your packing slip you’ll find the actual cost and the price you’ll get if you return any items. So I can return the ones that don’t work for me and get a credit toward my next box or a refund for the value. Wantable makes a shopping experience easy and fun. You can change around your profile preferences as often as you wish to get the customized box of your dreams. I’m removing powders and brows for now since I’m overloaded and will add back in highlighters which was off my list for a while.

I’ve certainly got some winners from Wantable and even the ones I won’t use might be great for someone else. Which box do you think was my HIT? Are you ready to hit with Wantable? If so please use the Beauty Info Zone affiliate link to sign up.  — Marcia

Have you discovered Frankie Rose Cosmetics yet?

frankie rose cosmeticsIn the vast sea of cosmetics lines, a major stand out is Frankie Rose Cosmetics. This Los Angeles based line is a relative newcomer to the makeup scene, created in 2013 by professional makeup artists who know what works and what doesn’t. The Frankie Rose Cosmetics focus is on perfecting the basics needed for every cosmetics collection.

A plethora of Frankie Rose Cosmetics goodness

A Frankie Rose Cosmetics face of the day

A Frankie Rose Cosmetics face of the day

I first tried Frankie Rose Cosmetics back in November of 2013 and I fell in love with their super pigmented eyeshadows, creamy lipstick, and shimmery lip gloss. This time around I have different shades of the lippie products, as well as an eyeliner and their famous foundation.

Frankie Rose Cosmetics Matte Perfection Foundation in Vintage

Frankie Rose Cosmetics Matte Perfection Foundation in Vintage

Frankie Rose Lipstick in Soft CranberryNormally, I don’t test a product until after I have taken photos.  It has been so cloudy and dreary in Michigan the past few months that good photography light has been hard to come by. It was about a week before I could take pics of the Matte Perfection Foundation ($32), but I was so curious about this foundation that I tried it before taking pics. Then I tried it again…and again and again! I couldn’t stop wearing it.  I realized very quickly why so many people swear by it and actually consider themselves ‘addicted’.

Frankie Rose Matte Perfection Foundation in VintageMatte Perfection Foundation is a long-wearing liquid foundation with buildable coverage.  It is matte enough to keep me from getting shiny but it doesn’t have that super flat look that is a drawback for many matte foundations. I love the coverage and it doesn’t settle into my pores. This really is one of the best liquid foundations I have ever tried. It’s available in nine different shades, a great variety for different skin tones. Vintage is the perfect shade for my ‘somewhere between light and medium’ skin tone.

Frankie Rose Cosmetics Powder Foundation in Buff

Frankie Rose Cosmetics Powder Foundation in Buff

The Powder Foundation ($30) does everything a good pressed powder should do, but with more coverage. It has a creamy texture so it doesn’t look dry on the skin. When I buff this over the Matte Perfection Foundation I achieve skin nirvana – I still look natural but all those imperfections are gone, gone, gone.  Throughout the day I take out my compact to powder my nose…then stop, because it doesn’t need it! I am completely addicted. With 12 different shades you are sure to find your match. Buff Powder Foundation over Vintage Matte Perfection Foundation is my exact skin match.

Frankie Rose Cosmetics Infinity Eye Pencil

Frankie Rose Cosmetics Infinity Eye Pencil

Infinity Eye Pencil ($16) goes on smoothly and has some play time for smudging out before it dries.  It lasts for a few hours on the waterline. I like it best on the upper lid…I have some issues with smudging on the lower lid, especially if I am having problems with my contacts drying out. It comes in four shades. I tried the matte Black, which is a very dark black. I’d like to try Rebel, a dark blue shimmer, which looks beautiful.

Frankie Rose Lipstick in Soft CranberryThe Lipstick ($16) in Soft Cranberry is a shiny mauve with shimmer. It’s a beautiful shade that I know I will wear all year. I love the lipstick tube; it is chic with just enough heft to feel substantial without being too heavy. The lipstick is nicely moisturizing with jojoba and canolin oils. There are 14 stunning shades available, so if you are looking for a new lipstick you will want to check out Frankie Rose Cosmetics.

Frankie Rose Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Pressed Flower

Frankie Rose Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Pressed Flower

The Lip Gloss ($16) is excellent, a staple everyone should have. There are 12 shades, including Pearl, Sugar, Pressed Flower, Gala Pink, Cotton Shimmer, Raspberry Dazzle, Valentine, Sunset, Sangria, Crushes Berries, Winter Plum, and Tangerine.

Frankie Rose Lip Gloss in Pressed Flower swatchedPressed Flower is a neutral pinky/brown with lots of shine. Since the lip gloss is a combination of a lipstick and a gloss it has beautiful pigmentation and lasting power. I am very impressed.

Frankie Rose Cosmetics face of the day

Frankie Rose Cosmetics face of the day

For my face of the day, I used a silicone based primer first, then applied the Matte Perfection Foundation in Vintage with my hands. I put two pumps into my palms, gently rubbed together, then patted on the foundation. I followed this by buffing in the Powder Foundation in Buff.  No concealer….didn’t need it! Lips are Soft Cranberry Lipstick with Pressed Flower Lip Gloss.  roducts from other lines that I used include Makeup Geek Powder Blush in Hanky Panky, Paula’s Choice Brow Defining Cream Duo, MAC Painterly Paint Pot, and tarte lights, camera, LASHES mascara.

It’s time to put Frankie Rose Cosmetics in your shopping cart

Frankie Rose

Frankie Rose

You need to remember the name Frankie Rose Cosmetics. If the products that Lisa and I had an opportunity to try out are any indication then this line is one that will be well known once the word gets out.

Frankie Rose Cosmetics is a brand new company created by professional makeup artists. It’s a group of women who work with cosmetics every day and know what works best on other women. They are aware of what a woman is looking for in terms of color, texture and finish. Lisa reviewed lip products and eyeshadows that look absolutely amazing. She talks about this line to me all the time. I’ve got the pleasure now of reviewing Frankie Rose blush.

Frankie Rose 3 shade blush palette

Frankie Rose 3 shade blush palette

Frankie Rose created blush palettes with 3 shades ($35) as well as single blush ($17). There are currently 2 blush palettes: Ravish and Enchant. The palettes are set up to help you blush, highlight and contour. The 12 single blushes run the gamut of colors from subtle and neutral to sexy and delicious.

I’ve got Enchant which is the warmer of the two palettes. I love the name and feel it’s fitting since the palette has definitely enchanted me.

Canyon Spice and Starburst can both be purchased separately. I don’t think the website’s swatches are perfect since they are so much more gorgeous in person and on my skin. They both have a light shimmery look but once on your cheeks they aren’t shimmery – but they do glow. They have a finish that’s hard to describe but beautiful to look at.

Enchant blush palette: Chestnut, Starburst, and Canyon Spice swatches

Enchant blush palette: Chestnut, Starburst, and Canyon Spice swatches

Chestnut isn’t sold separately. It’s a light matte contour shade. With some contours you can see the color so it doesn’t look natural. I’m no expert on contouring so I need something subtle like this when I attempt it.

Enchant from top: Chestnut, Starburst, Canyon Spice

Enchant from top: Chestnut, Starburst, Canyon Spice

I’m totally in love with Starburst. It’s the most beautiful pinky peach shade (it actually looks more like the shade called Peachy Pink in the singles than it does like Starburst). I’m finding myself reaching for Starburst or a combination of Starburst and Canyon Spice almost every day.

Frankie Rose Starburst from the palette

Frankie Rose Starburst from the palette

As beautiful as these colors are (and they are beautiful) it’s important to know about quality and longevity. Frankie Rose made sure of both of those. These blushes last me the day. I almost never have to touch them up which is pretty amazing. I often talk about cream blush because they seem to last longer on me but Frankie Rose Cosmetics is proving that a great powder blush needs to be in my regime too.

I’m as excited about this line as my blog partner Lisa is and it’s exciting to end my 2013 reviews with a company and product I’m thrilled to be introducing to you too. — Marcia

Introducing Frankie Rose Cosmetics

Hooray for color cosmetics!  Frankie Rose Cosmetics, based in Los Angeles, is a new line of makeup and tools that just launched last month. This line was created by professional makeup artists who know what works with a focus on perfecting the basics needed for every cosmetics collection and happily they sent the BIZ several products to try. Here are few of my favorites for the season.

frankie rose cosmetics

I love the Single Eyeshadows ($14). The packaging is great, it’s practical but feels luxurious at the same time. The shadows have a see-through top, always so nice so you can see the colors! The quality is top-notch, with a fantastic amount of pigment and a buttery texture.

Patina is a stunning copper shimmer that is a great lid or crease shade.

I am very, very impressed with Frankie Rose Cosmetics eyeshadows. The colors are gorgeous and they wear beautifully. Besides Patina and Lace there are 16 more single eyeshadow shades and I have to admit I want every single one of them.

The Frankie Rose Cosmetics Lipstick ($16) is beautiful. The packaging is chic with just enough heft to feel substantial without being too heavy. Pictured above is Apple Spice, a wonderful shade for cooler months. I never would have chosen this for myself, but it is a gorgeous shade that isn’t too brown or too orange. The lipstick is creamy and keeps lips moist thanks to the jojoba and canolin oils. There are 11 other stunning shades available.

The Lip Gloss ($16) definitely doesn’t disappoint. There are 12 shades, including Pearl, Sugar, Pressed Flower, Gala Pink, Cotton Shimmer, Raspberry Dazzle, Valentine, Sunset, Sangria, Crushes Berries, Winter Plum, and Tangerine. I am loving Sangria, the beautiful raspberry shade pictured above. Frankie Rose Lip Gloss is actually a combination of a lipstick and a gloss so it has beautiful pigmentation and lasting power. While it is billed as a cream lip gloss, it has shimmer so it makes lips look full and lush.

I absolutely adore the Sangria shade over my Apple Spice lipstick – who knew? It’s not a combination I would have thought of, but it totally works!

I am extremely impressed with Frankie Rose Cosmetics. This is a high quality line that has extremely affordable prices. I am so excited about it, I want to try everything!!  You can find Frankie Rose Cosmetics online at: http://www.frankierosecosmetics.com/ and at select boutiques in Southern California.  – Lisa
