Eyeshadows anyone? Korres lights the way with eyeshadows in crayon and powder

KORRES eyeshadow collections

KORRES eyeshadow collections

What do I want to see in my stocking or under the tree? Eyeshadow! I will never have enough and I don’t think you will either. Korres sent two of their favorite gift sets my way knowing how much I love their eyeshadow. These are wonderful for you or for a gift.

KORRES Greek Eye-Land Hopping Eyeshadow Collection

KORRES Greek Eye-Land Hopping Eyeshadow Collection

Most woman are more secure using powder eyeshadow so I’m starting with the KORRES GREEK EYE-LAND HOPPING 6 shadow eyeshadow collection. This holiday packaged collection has 6 musts for your own collection. These powders are absolutely the smoothest. They are dermatologically tested, free of parabens, mineral oil, propylene glycol, and ethanolamine aka chemicals. But they do have Sunflower and Evening Primrose oils in their formula to moisturize and nourish the skin on your eyelids.korres-shadows

The 6 lovely shades are Ivory (light neutral), Pink, Bronze Brown (rich and sultry!), White (a sheer neutral), Metallic Grey, and Midnight Blue (rich blue). I’ve had no fallout with these shadows since they glide on beautifully.

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in white, midnight blue, and metallic grey

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in white, midnight blue, and metallic grey

I don’t wear a lot of blue eyeshadow but this Midnight Blue is an exception. It’s a striking shade that doesn’t take me back to my teens. Metallic Grey is a taupe grey so it fits right in my life.

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in Bronze Brown, Ivory and Pink

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in Bronze Brown, Ivory and Pink

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in Bronze Brown, Pink, and Ivory

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in Bronze Brown, Pink, and Ivory

I am totally crazy about Bronze Brown; most of the time you’d see that name and expect a dark shadow but it’s light and lights up my eyes. I love it with Ivory on my browbone and this on my lid. Even though the middle shade is named Pink it’s a very warm pink and not what you expect pink to look like. It looks more like a rose gold actually so I’ll just rename it in my head.

KORRES Greek Nights Volcanic TWIST Shadow Collection

KORRES Greek Nights Volcanic TWIST Shadow Collection

What I love even more than the 6 powder eyeshadows is the KORRES Greek Nights Volcanic Twist Eyeshadow Collection. This is a collection of 6 mineral eyeshadow crayons that can do no wrong in my book. These are so creamy and easy to apply and they are very long lasting. Once they set, they’ll never play havoc on your eyes. Use these as bases, a quick eyeshadow look, eyeliners, smokey eyes – whatever makes you happy. This $35.95 set means these are $6 each.

KORRES Greek Nights Twists

KORRES Greek Nights Twists

HSN describes them this way:

  • #11 Ivory (light beige, neutral for lid or highlight under brow)
  • #29 Golden Bronze (rich metallic bronze for added drama)
  • #33 Grey Brown (hybrid of rich brown and smoky gray for smoky, dramatic eye)
  • #46 Olive Green (deep, rich green)
  • #68 Golden Pink (smoky, sexy light pink)
  • #98 Metallic Black (rich, deep, vibrant jet black)
Korres Greek Nights in Olive Green, Golden Pink, Ivory

Korres Greek Nights in Olive Green, Golden Pink, Ivory

Korres Greek Nights in Olive Green, Golden Pink, Ivory

Korres Greek Nights in Olive Green, Golden Pink, Ivory

Ivory is a great base shade and looks good in the corner of your eye to add some brightness. Golden Pink is a beautiful rose gold that I’m crazy about. Olive Green is a very dark olive and not one that I realized was olive actually. To bring out the green use a light touch. None of these have a drop of shimmer to them though Golden Pink does have a metallic look.

KORRES Greek Nights in Golden Bronze, Grey Brown, Metallic Black

KORRES Greek Nights in Golden Bronze, Grey Brown, Metallic Black

KORRES Greek Nights in Golden Bronze, Grey Brown, Metallic Black

KORRES Greek Nights in Golden Bronze, Grey Brown, Metallic Black

There’s nothing quite like Golden Bronze to me. I love this both as a base and as a lid shade. It adds brightness under my eyes as a liner. It’s everything I love in an eyeshadow crayon. The shade called Grey Brown is a metallic that looks a lot like a charcoal. Beautiful for smokey eyes and softer than Metallic Black. What makes Metallic Black stand out is the twinkle of shimmer that it has. It also makes an interesting base for certain pastel shades.

Korres always meant bath and body to me but they’ve changed that to bring my all time favorite product. I think one or both of these sets could be all time favorites for you. Both are available at HSN.com and Korres.com. You’ll want to hurry to make sure these are yours. If you are a first time buyer on Korres site you can get a code for 15% off making it even better.

Be a Stone Cold Babe with Buxom on your eyes

Buxom Cosmetics delightfully created three gift sets for us this holiday season. I’ve already shared the 6 Degrees Below Sexy and Buxom Freezes Over holiday lip sets and now it’s time for my very favorite: Buxom Stone Cold Babe eyeshadow kit. Anyone that knows me knows I’m crazzzy about eyeshadows. If I can only splurge on one item that’s what it’s going to be. Yes I am obsessed with mascara, foundation, and concealer too but nothing gets me going like eyeshadows and Buxom Stone Cold Babe makes my heart sing. I was upset because I didn’t share this with you early but I’m actually glad now because this fantastic gift set is on sale at both Sephora and Ulta for $29 instead of the original $42. I’m telling you that you need this – you really do!

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

The minute this was sent for review purposes was the minute I fell in love. One dozen eyeshadows in shades I love. Finishes of matte, shimmer, sparkle, and metallic all add up to a bit of perfection. Not only do the shadows wear beautifully but they work together in a myriad of ways that makes me want to use them in different combinations daily. These are neutral shades that may not suit everyone but they are the types of colors I’m most comfortable wearing.

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

With this set you receive the empty palette, the slide in shadows, and a Buxom Lash Mascara mini (2 oz) which is everything you’ll need for a night on the town.

Eyeshadow Shades:

  • Diamond Darling (shimmering frost)
  • Champagne Buzz (shimmering pearl)
  • Trendsetter (matte putty)
  • Sequin Sparkle (sparking pewter)
  • Frosted Pewter (sparkling iron)
  • LBD (matte black)
  • Velvet Show (sparkling white)
  • Mink Magnet (metallic bronze)
  • Haute Couture (metallic java)
  • Jetsetter (matte griege)
  • Graphic Glam (sparkling charcoal)
  • Black Tie (sparkling onxy)

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

While I swatched these over an eyeshadow primer Buxom’s eyeshadows stand out because they are primer-infused shadows that are incredibly pigmented. I love the smoothness of these and I’m crazay about the longevity of the shadows.

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

There are 4 shades that are new and exclusive to this set – Velvet Snow (1st left on the bottom), Frosted Petal (top row 5th shadow), Graphic Glam (bottom row 5th shadow), and Black Tie (bottom row right corner). These are wonderful additions to the previously released 8 shadows. It’s perfect to have these all together in one Fire & Frost palette.

To make this palette even better is the inclusion of the bestselling Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black. While this is a mini, it will last me close to three months. This is a volumizing mascara that doesn’t flake on me. Even better is that this palette is customizable and refillable. Just open the drawer from the right-side and pop in and out Buxom Eyeshadow Bar Single refills.

If you are searching for the perfect eyeshadow palette for yourself or a friend, you can’t beat Stone Cold Babe with its 12 gorgeous shadows and mini mascara. The price is one that should make you snatch it up instantly. I promise you’ll look like a hot babe!  —  Marcia

The best Halloween candy? Hard Candy!

Hard Candy Halloween!
Halloween is almost here, so hurry up and head to Walmart for the best candy…Hard Candy, that is! I am having so much fun with some great new shades that are fantastic for Halloween and beyond. Check out the latest and greatest!                                                                                                                                                                    *samples

Hard Candy Lap of Luxury Eyeshadow Palette

Hard Candy Top 10 Satin in Lap of Luxury, $6:  10 – yes, count them, 10 – beautiful neutral shades from creamy tan to deep brown in a variety of finishes. You just can’t go wrong for this price. I love the tufted pink fabric compact, as well as the range of colors, although the shimmery shades have a tendency towards fallout that can be avoided by using an eye primer. It has everything you could need for any costume and this is a palette you will use all year round.

Hard Candy Halloween doesn’t stop at eyes – where it truly excels is LIPS.

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss: Hey DJ, Trophy Wife, So Fresh, Skyfall

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss: Hey DJ, Trophy Wife, So Fresh, Skyfall

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lip Gloss, $5 – Now this is some daring lip gloss! This super intense lip gloss has a great brush wand and is full of argan and citrus oils to moisturize and soften lips. There are 16 different shades available – absolutely everything you could want for any Halloween costume.

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss: Hey DJ, Trophy Wife, So Fresh, Skyfall

I was sent four different shades to test: Hey DJ, a bright purple/pink; Trophy Wife, a stunning orangey-bronze; So Fresh, a shimmery light green; and Skyfall, a creamy sky blue. My daughter tried all four shades to see which would best compliment her costume this year.

Ok, so her last photo is pretty scary, but really Hey DJ is so pretty you can wear it year round. She might be using this for Halloween but I am totally taking it for myself for everyday!

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss Trophy Wife

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss Trophy Wife

Trophy Wife is certainly the most tame of the four shades, but the color is still intense and oh-so perfect for fall. Really gorgeous and for just $5 I highly recommend you pick up this one!

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss So Fresh

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss So Fresh

So Fresh is a little more tricky to apply – it goes on rather streaky, but if you are looking for a crazy shade for Halloween it’s pretty scary. I wouldn’t recommend it for every day just because it’s tough to get it applied evenly. Plus it’s not the most flattering shade!

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss Skyfall

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Daring Lipgloss Skyfall

I have to say I liked Skyfall way more than I thought I would. It’s a costumey color, of course, but for a pastel it certainly applied far more evenly than I expected. This is a great Halloween shade.

Hard Candy also sent me one of their newest lipstick shades to test – and I am in love.

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipstick, $5 is awesome. The packaging is adorable – love the crystal studded tube! The lipstick is moisturizing with lots of shine. My particular shade, Twisted Metal, is a new shade – gunmetal grey with tons of silver shimmer. The shimmer can migrate, but otherwise this is a fantastic lippie.

Dual finish eyeshadow with Raul E New York – Fashionista Signature Shadow Quad review and swatches

Raul E New York Signature Shadow Quads

Raul E New York Signature Shadow Quads

I often imagine the hustle and bustle of New York…I’d love to be in the mix of the fabulous fashion, beautiful hair, and gorgeous cosmetics. Sitting on the wraparound porch of my house in Michigan I am about as far from New York glam as I can get – but perusing the Raul E New York website I can daydream, since the site includes apparel, accessories, and cosmetics. They recently sent me the Fashionista Signature Shadow Quad to review, which is a combination of cream and purples.

Raul E New YorkRaul E New York’s designer is Silvana Penavi.  She “prides herself in offering an elegant, timeless and classy selection of mineral based makeups. Silvana understands first hand just how important is to use makeup that supports balance & harmony in one’s daily life, which in turn promotes conscious living.

Raul E New York Fashionista Signature Quad

Raul E New York Fashionista Signature Quad

The Signature Quad has four color coordinated eyeshadows, each with a different texture: shimmer, metallic, pearl, and matte. There are 6 different palettes currently available, but four of them are being discontinued because they contain parabens (Bliss, Provocative, Enchanted and Hypnotic) so buy up if you are interested. The remaining two, Fashionista and Naturalist, are hypoallergenic, paraben-free, and Passover approved.

The four shades include a matte cream, a metallic taupe, an iridescent reddish-purple, and a deep pearl purple. All of the shades have a dual finish, which means they have a sparkling surface with a soft matte base.Raul E New York Fashionista Signature QuadRaul E New York Fashionista Signature QuadRaul E New York Fashionista Signature QuadRaul E New York Fashionista Signature Quad

This is a nice quad. The matte shade isn’t too powdery and is highly pigmented. It actually has a pearlescent undertone so it has more dimension than a typical matte. The other shades are more sheer but they are buildable. I definitely recommend using an eyeshadow base and the colors have more ‘oomph’ used with a mixing medium. The texture of them all is creamy and they blend well. The purple colors are a little challenging for me to wear…they tend to give my pale eyelids a bruised look. I think those with a deeper skin tone would appreciate this particular color combo more and I wish I had gone with the Naturalist quad instead.

Considering the eyeshadow singles are $24, the quad (at just $44) is the way to go if you like the shade combination. Hopefully Raul E New York will come out with some new quads to replace the ones that are being discontinued, because I think the dual finish concept is pretty cool.  – Lisa

Halloween ready with 3 favorite Inglot pigments: #79, #52, and #35

I have so many pigments it’s insane. Seriously, if you saw my collection you would insist I get pigment therapy. But with all the colors and brands I have there are a few that I reach for over and over. Some of my favorites are the AMC Pure Pigment Eyeshadows from Inglot. I love the size of the jars, I love the price, and I love the texture and color payoff. And pigments are fantastic for Halloween because they are so versatile!

inglot-amc-pure-pigmentInglot describes their pigment eyeshadows as, “Highly concentrated loose coloured powder that ranges from subtle to ultra-intense effects depending on application. The product contains sponge gourd oil and almost 90% pure pigment. Can be mixed with DURALINE to create liquid forms of all pigment colours.” The jar size is 2 g/0.07 US OZ and sells for $16 to $19, depending on the shade.

MAC Mixing Medium, Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, FACE atelier Transforming Gel

MAC Mixing Medium, Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, FACE atelier Transforming Gel

Pigments are beautiful used dry, but typically you get the most bang for your buck when you use some sort of mixing medium. I haven’t tried the Inglot Duraline yet, but my three favorites are MAC Mixing Medium, Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, and FACE atelier Transforming Gel. I used the FACE atelier Transforming Gel for the wet swatches – it triples the color payoff and while there is room for play, when dry it gives the pigment incredible staying power.

#52, a beautiful deep brown

#35, a sparkling deep purple

And swatched with FACE atelier Transforming Gel:

The darker colors also make great eyeliners mixed with a mixing medium. I love pigments in general, but always pull them out around Halloween for costumes since they can be used on the eyes, lips, cheeks, nails, even hair.

Pick just 5 products from Pixi Beauty? Ooh that’s hard.

It’s Marcia’s turn to be Queen for the Day with the Beauty Spotlight Team. We’ve each chosen a brand that we love to showcase for our readers. You’ve read Never Say Die Beauty’s Too Faced picks along with Justina’s Clinique favorites. Now that it’s my turn I’m picking Pixi Beauty because I wear something from Pixi every single day.pixi-favorites-all

Pixi Beauty is in a class of its own. It’s an independent beauty company that has reasonable mass market prices with department store quality. You can buy most of their line by going to your closest Target or by ordering online through Target.com or on Pixi’s website where you’ll find even more products from them.                                                                       press samples, personal products

Choosing just 5 was a chore since I easily could have chosen a dozen but I narrowed it down as I’m a rule follower. All of my choices are so reasonably priced that your wallet will barely weigh less after picking these up.

Pixi Beauty Summer Glow palette

Pixi Beauty Summer Glow palette

Pixi by Petra has many great palettes so why did I choose the Summer Glow palette (Palette Bronzette) when summer is coming to an end? Two reasons – 1) it’s a great quality palette with eye shades and face shades and 2) it’s being discontinued so I wanted you to get in on the fact that this $28 palette is now only $14 while it lasts. With 12 shadows and liners and 3 facial products this works all year round. “Gilded bronzes, taupes & peaches for eyes + matte bronze, golden beige highlight & pink sheen for complexion.” I have gotten more use out of this Bronzette Palette than any of my Pixi Palettes. Perfect for travel and at $14 you don’t want to miss out.

Pixi Beauty Brow Powder Palette

Pixi Beauty Brow Powder Palette

This brow palette is my most used item from Pixi and I’ll soon be buying a backup. I’ve tried so many brow products and liked most but I love the Pixi Brow Powder palette. As you can see from this recent picture there are two shades that get tons of love while the others get used once in a while but those two shades are perfection for me. It’s hard for me to believe that this 6 color palette is only $12. My hair color changes every 3-4 weeks so it’s easy for me to vary the color of these powders. They are thick enough to stick around, they aren’t powdery meaning no fallout, and this removes easily with water which means less hair to lose. If I had to pick just one item of the 5 this Pixi Brow Powder Palette would be my keeper.

Pixi Multibalms

Pixi Multibalms

Pixi Multibalms: top Baby Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry; bottom Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose

Pixi Multibalms: top Baby Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry; bottom Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose

Pixi Multibalms are my newest love from Pixi Beauty. (Be sure you enter my giveaway to win them!) I’m a huge fan of cream products and almost always pick a cream blush over a powder blush. I’ve been wearing one every day since I received these. There’s one for every color wardrobe and one for every mood. If you twist my arm to ask my favorites I’d pick Watermelon Veil and Wild Rose. At $12 each you can have several for the price of one from a different brand. The Multibalms are great for an easy on the go lip color too so you’ll look coordinated. These are infused with aloe vera, shea butter and rose hip oil adding to my love for these.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

Picking out just one lip product from the many wonderful ones that Pixi Beauty has was the hardest task of all. I love the shea butter lip balms, tinted brilliance balm crayons and Mattelustre lipsticks. But the product that gets used daily is the Nourishing Lip Polish. Another $12 product that is a 2-in-1 lip exfoliator and nourisher. Not only does it protect my dry lips but it has a circulation factor with the unique applicator. You massage the sweet nutrient rich formula onto your lips with the applicator. You’ll want one in every bathroom, your purse, and nightstand.

Pixi by Petra Nail Colours

Pixi by Petra Nail Colours

Nobody ever talks about Pixi’s Nail Colours and I don’t know why. They are terrific. They are 3 free and chip resistant. There are 42 shades for only $8 each. These slim bottles last for many manicures yet take up a small amount of space in my collection. Shown above are Gilded Garnet, Amethyst Amore, Fuchsia Dew and Sweet Strawberry. I’ve found some on sale at my local Target so I’m always checking for them. Like all products from Pixi they are cruelty-free. A Pixi polish is always a fun addition to my life.

While these are my favorites they are just at the top of a long list of products I recommend from Pixi Beauty. What about you? Any favorites from Pixi? Any you know you need to add ASAP?  —  Marcia
