Mally Beauty Open Up! Eyeshadow Quads

Looking for something new to open up those peepers, maybe some fresh new palettes for fall? Take a look at Mally’s Open Up! Eyeshadow Quad Set of 2 Eyeshadow Palettes, including Everyday Nudes and Everyday Deep Neutrals ($35, which also includes a dual-sided brush).

The Open Up! Eyeshadow Quad Set comes with the two palettes and a dual sided brush that I don’t have, but if you watch the video on QVC you can see the brush in action and it looks really nice. The two palettes feature neutral shades, one with day colors and the other with deeper evening shades. Both palettes have a combination of matte and shimmer shades, and the texture is soft and velvety thanks to the coconut butter-infused formula. I find that these eyeshadow apply easily, blend well, and last all day with a primer.

Mally Everyday Nudes Palette

The Everyday Nudes Palette has from top right going clockwise:  Sand, a shimmering creamy beige; Terra Cotta, a matte brownish orange; Earth, a shimmery deep golden brown; and Clay, a matte medium brown.

Mally Everyday Nudes Palette swatches, left to right:  Clay, Sand, Earth, Terra Cotta

Sand is a perfect base shade and I often wear just this plus some thick black eyeliner. I also love the Terra Cotta – it’s a great lid shade, as well as a beautiful crease shade for some depth without a lot of drama. Earth and Clay are nice, workhorse shades. This is a wonderful, versatile palette that is belongs in everyone’s collection.

The Everyday Deep Neutrals Palette

The Everyday Deep Neutrals Palette has from top right going clockwise: Cashew, a shimmery taupe; Brazil Nut, a matte medium brownish gray; Acorn, a shimmery bronze; and Almond, a shimmery medium brown.

The Everyday Deep Neutrals Palette, left to right:  Almond, Cashew, Acorn, Brazil Nut

The Everyday Deep Neutrals is more dramatic than the Everyday Nudes but it’s still demure enough for anytime, really. Cashew is a beautiful wash that might be too shimmery for some, but I love it. Brazil Nut leans a little purple on me, which I like. I use this as a crease shade then define it with Acorn and it is just gorgeous.

I think that Mally makes beautiful cosmetics that are infinitely wearable, especially for those of us who aren’t particularly graceful with our cosmetics. She is like the savior for those with bad eyes and pre-coffee hands. It is pretty impossible to overdo it with her palettes, and anyone from a novice to a pro can easily get amazing looks. Mally recommends starting with the eyeshadow in the top right corner then working your way around the palette going clockwise, with the top right shadow as your all over wash, bottom right on the lid, bottom left on the crease, and top left to line along the lashes. This is the way I use these palettes and it gives me great results every time.

You can find Mally’s Open Up! Eyeshadow Quad Set of 2 Eyeshadow Palettes as well as tons more Mally Beauty products at QVC.  Happy shopping!  – Lisa

Beautiful eyes with Hikari

If you went to a website and read this: Hikari Cosmetics was founded on the principles of delivering glamorous, sophisticated makeup to women around the United States at a reasonable cost. We may be an up and coming brand, but we plan to take the makeup world to the next level of high-class! From our high-shine, vivid lip gloss collection to the perfect eye color combinations we have something for every woman to fall in love with.” wouldn’t you be intrigued? Both Lisa and Marcia were and we were excited to receive some HIKARI for review. We want to give the line a fair shake so this week it’s my turn (Marcia) and next week Lisa will share her products with you.

HIKARI eyeshadow palette, powder, liquid eyeliner

Anyone who knows me knows I’d rather have eyeshadows and eyeliners than any other cosmetic products out there. I love all cosmetics but it’s the eyes that get me going.

HIKARI Jennifer eyeshadow palette, HD Powder, and Iris Liquid Eyeliner

Hikari has 10 eyeshadow palettes that happen to be on sale as I type for only $5 each. It’s rare to find even a single eyeshadow of quality for that price but if you hurry you can get a 4 pan with great colors for just $5 (regularly $15). I have Jennifer and it’s a beauty. What I love best about this palette is the push and pull of it. Jennifer starts with colors in my comfort zone but then brings in a shade that pulls me away from that, daring me to make my eyes come alive.

HIKARI Cosmetics Jennifer Eyeshadow Palette

Jennifer contains 2 matte shadows and 2 satin shadows. These are loaded with pigment and apply with ease. I find that my eyes need an eyeshadow primer to do justice to the shades. Individual shades aren’t named on the palette but they are on the website so I’ll do my best to describe Stealth, Bellini, Magnetic, Swanky.

Hikari Jennifer shadows

Top left is a dusky blue matte shadow, top right is a light golden cream satin. Bottom left is a matte dark brownish black while bottom right there’s a golden brown.

Hikari Jennifer shadows

I use the light gold on the inner third of my eye and then under the browbone, next I apply the golden brown in the crease. Finally I’ll use the dusky blue on the very outer quarter of my eye and blend it by my lashline. I can also vary the order I use the shadows and I especially like the light gold with the dusky blue. None of these 4 shades are sold individually, just in the palette.

HIKARI Liquid Eyeliner in Iris

My camera hates close ups so excuse this very blurry shot but I wanted you to see the paint tip of their Liquid Eyeliner. What’s particularly nice about this kind of felt head is that you can get a thin line or a thicker line. HIKARI Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner is available in 5 shades:

Fawn- Brown

Slate- Gray

Indigo- Blue

Iris- Purple

Essence- Green

HIKARI Liquid Eyeliner swatches of Iris

Iris is a very deep purple that can also look brown depending on what shadows you wear with it. I like just that pop of purple instead of my typical brown. The liner is terrific since it applies so easily, just gliding on, and it has a long lasting formula so I don’t have to worry about it fading or chipping away.

HIKARI Final Touch HD Powder

The third product I have is one I’m getting a lot of use from. I had given up powders in the heat until I tired HIKARI’s Final Touch HD Powder. This is a pressed silica powder that is light as air and never looks cakey on me. The powder helps blur pores (my nemesis) and fine lines.

HIKARI Final Touch HD Powder and Beauty Junkees brushes

Using a duo fiber makeup brush like my Beauty Junkees ones gives me the light application that I’m looking for to set my makeup. I don’t normally get shiny during the day but I notice that this keeps my face from looking that way yet it’s not so matte that I look ghastly.

Hikari Cosmetics have many products that I’d love to explore. Even their foundation looks light enough for me. With the added attraction that Hikari is cruelty free and PETA certified this cosmetic brand has a lot to offer and the prices are great. Don’t wait long to take advantage of the $5 eyeshadow quads though since that will soon change.  —  Marcia

3 summer beauty favorites from Pretty Vulgar, Eddie Funkhouser, and Nars

Did you ever get obsessed with something you bought? Do you have a large cosmetic collection yet ignore everything in it because you just can’t get enough of some products? That’s describing me and my summer beauty favorites these days.

Summer beauty love from Pretty Vulgar, Eddie Funkhouser, and Nars

As soon as Nars introduced their Liquid Blush I knew I had to have it. I was on a “no buy” and had promised not to buy anything before I moved … but the minute I moved, all bets were off. I needed Nars Orgasm Liquid Blush in my life. Having a $15 off $50 code from Sephora helped but it made me add something to my order. On a whim I ordered Pretty Vulgar Early Bird Eyeshadow Palette. I hadn’t seen one thing about this but I had heard of the brand. BEST MOVE EVAH!!

pretty Vulgar Early Bird Eyeshadow Palette

I’m in love with this. I have worn it every day since it arrived and I’m nowhere near to moving on to something else. I find new combinations of this every day. I can’t get enough of it.

pretty Vulgar Early Bird Eyeshadow Palette

There are 12 shades in this palette (which I didn’t swatch – so sorry) and I’ve used each and every one over and over.

Here’s my color interpretation:

TWEET: Very soft pink that seems a little powdery compared to the others. But using a light hand with it makes it a great browbone shade.

WINK: This is a peachy pink that I like on the browbone or lid. It also makes a good transition shade. I wear it on my lid and notice just a tiny bit of shimmer.

CHIRP: LOVE!!!! If you are into rose gold you will love this metallic shade. It’s the star of the palette in and on my eyes.

RISE: Rise is a matte pinky brown. It’s not an unusual shade but it works well with the other colors in the palette.

SHINE: Very pretty golden brown (pink undertones) with a nice sheen to it.

RUFFLED: This shade shocked me. When I opened the palette I figured I couldn’t wear it. It looked so shimmery to me. But I gave it a chance and now I can’t get enough of it. It’s a pinky lavender with shimmer that is much more visible in the pan than on my eye. I have no glitter fall out from it and it seems to brighten my look whenever I wear it.

UNRUFFLED: This is Ruffled once off steroids. It’s the matte version and it applies very smoothly. It looks great with the darker brown shades in the palette.

Pretty Vulgar Early Bird

NEST EGG: a soft matte brown with a neutral base.

TRUE COLORS: This is another favorite from the palette. It has some shimmer but it translates into a metallic shade. It’s a pinky mauve that gives my eyes a purple look. I haven’t been wearing much in the way of purple shadows but this lighter tone is close to perfection for me.

VICTORY: A matte chocolate brown, think of a Hershey’s square. It goes on smoothly with basically no fallout when applying it.

CONQUER: I can’t get enough of Conquer. I want to wear it daily. It’s a rich goden bronze with an almost metallic finish and very light shimmer. It gives me the oomph I want.

UNVEIL: This is the least used shade for me. Since Victory is in the palette I feel that this slightly darker matte brown is redundant. I’d have preferred another peachy shade instead of Unveil.

After I bought this I read the review that Temptalia wrote about Early Bird, and I wondered if we had the same palette. She doesn’t have a high opinion of this yet I find it a perfect way to get away from my typical taupes and browns. It’s got enough soft colors in it to make it a summertime pleasure and enough darker ones to add drama and style.

Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara

When you have eyeshadows that make you look forward to waking up then you need a mascara that matches that quality and that’s where Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara comes in. I’ve bought this mascara numerous times but my dear Eddie seemed to fall off the ends of the earth for a while. He’s back and he’s made me so happy. I’ve got some of his lip products coming up soon to share but for now let me write about my love for this mascara.

Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara

This totally unique mascara gives you every look you can dream of. Depending on where you dial you can get 4 finishes from natural to va-va-voom. I typically apply two coats on #2 or 1 coat on #2 and 1 coat on #3. I get amazing definition, lots of volume, and happily some length. Eddie Funkhouser’s mascara has never smudged on me and lasts the entire day and evening without a problem. It coats your lashes, almost like a tubing mascara but not exactly. Sometimes when removing it I’ll find flakes of mascara but that’s only during removal. This $12.95 mascara is the best ever. And right now you can buy one and get one free! To celebrate Eddie Funkhouser’s birthday he’s having a BOGO sale. You’ll want two for sure!

Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara

FX DIAL SETTINGS

  • = Lengthens and separates for a natural lash look
  • • = Enhances fullness and curl
  • •• = Boosts lash density and extends
  • ••• = Amplifies lashes for ultimate length, volume and curl

NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm

What started my obsession is this blush. Once I saw it I knew I needed it. I’m glad I bought Nars Liquid Blush in Orgasm when I did since right now most of the cosmetic world is upset with Nars for changing their cruelty-free status.

NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm

I never could wear this blush in the powder form, it just didn’t look right on me. But this pinky peach liquid with a touch of shimmer is gorgeous in the liquid form. I’ve always liked cream and liquid blushes and this has become my favorite.

NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm

While it’s not the longest lasting blush it gives me hours worth of pleasure. If I have to touch it up I’ll often use a powder blush over it. The only caveat is that you need such a tiny amount and the pump gets out much more than you need. I pump out as small a portion as possible, apply with a cotton bud in dots on my cheeks, then blend with my fingers. It plays well with highlighters too like Model’s Own Golden Sands.

What are your summer favorites? I highly recommend mine and am thrilled to say they are gracing my face every day.  —  Marcia

A reason to be thrilled – Models Own has come to Ulta

Models Own

Models Own

I am not a dancer but I was doing a jig when I received four Models Own products. I hadn’t even realized that the brand was going to be readily available at Ulta. The thrill continued when I made a trip to Ulta and saw the beautiful line there for me to purchase as well.

Models Own at Ulta

Models Own at Ulta

Models Own is a UK line that had me drooling over their nail polishes years ago. Trying to get my hands on one was a real effort but I was finally able to swap with someone to send it my way and I wasn’t disappointed. Now though we can get our hands on all their amazing products – all 650 eye, face, and lip products can be ours. Their goal is to put fun and creativity back into cosmetics. As they say BRAVERY IN BEAUTY.

Models Own Sculpt & Glow Highlighter Powder

Models Own Sculpt & Glow Highlighter Powder

The very first product I needed to use was Models Own Sculpt & Glow Highlighter Powder in Golden Sand. I can’t resist highlighters and I prayed that this wouldn’t be shimmery. I danced for sure once I applied this beautiful light gold powder for no sparkles were to be found. Just pure beautiful color that glowed and glowed. I can wear this day or night because it’s subtle enough that I’m not a disco ball nor do I look greasy.

Regularly priced at $11.99 it’s on sale now for $8.99 and you can use a $3.50 coupon on Models Own!! This also comes in Peach Pearl which looks stunning.

Models Own Matte Liquid Lipstick in Coral Fresh

Models Own Matte Liquid Lipstick in Coral Fresh

Models Own LIX Matte Liquid Lipstick comes in 6 brave and bright shades. The pigmentation on Coral Fresh is absolutely amazing. Your lips are covered with this gorgeous shade in one coat. It practically applies itself. It’s not a lipstick that I can apply without a mirror since the color has intensity and will stain. I wore it this week and had Chinese food and it didn’t stand up to the soup but it left a pretty stain behind. As all mattes go this is drying so make sure your lips are exfoliated and balmed for lasting beauty.

Besides Coral Fresh you need to look into Raspberry Mojito, Berry Cool, Candy Cane, Strawberry Mojito, and Eucalyptus Pink. Each of these have a light minty taste but no stinging is involved. On sale now for $5.99 you absolutely won’t believe that they aren’t a higher end luxury lip product.

Models Own I-Definer Eyeliner Duo in Midnight

Models Own I-Definer Eyeliner Duo in Midnight

I not only danced when I used Models Own I-Definer Eyeliner Duo in Midnight but I did a somersault which for someone in my shape is actually impossible! But this has everything I could possibly want in an eyeliner. The two sided liner has a smooth as can be roll up pencil on one end and a perfect felt liquid liner on the other. I’m a fool for liquid liner but I’m very picky about the tip of them. Models Own did it right. The tip is firm and glides on.

It’s also available in Umber (which I ordered!!) and Azure. I hope they add a purple in the future. On sale for $7.49 right now makes it a steal. If you like wearing a cat eye then you absolutely need this pencil/liquid for a perfect look.models own ulta palettes

As an eyeshadow maven I was thrilled to see the array in Ulta. On sale right now it’s the perfect time to add to your palette wardrobe. Look at my pretty Models Own Colour Chrome Eyeshadow Palette.

A palette that I think was made especially for me. If you like cream eyeshadow then you are going to love this!! With 10 gorgeous shades I can play to my hearts content. I could almost be on Dancing With The Stars since I got so excited to use this.

Top row swatches of Models Own Colour Chrome: Platinum, Electrum, Rose Gold, Emerald, Superior

Top row swatches of Models Own Colour Chrome: Platinum, Electrum, Rose Gold, Emerald, Superior

Platinum is a bright white with sparkles, the color isn’t intense. A good way to use this is to pat it over other shadows with your fingertip.

Electrum is a khaki shade that can be applied lightly or can be build up to a truer khaki.

Rose Gold is a stunning rose gold, not orange like my picture.

Emerald is the color of the turquoise sea.

Superior is a beautiful cool toned blue.

Bottom row swatches of Models Own Colour Chrome: Pure Gold, Nickel, Iron Oxide, Pewter, Slicked

Bottom row swatches of Models Own Colour Chrome: Pure Gold, Nickel, Iron Oxide, Pewter, Slicked

Pure Gold is exactly that, a bright yellow gold.

Nickel is my favorite, it’s more of a bronze than a copper. It looks beautiful paired with Pure Gold.

Iron Oxide is a light silver with sparkles.

Pewter is a charcoal shade with a navy undertone that I love.

Slicked is a sparkly light gray. It’s similar to Platinum in the amount of sparkle in it.

My personal favorites are Rose Gold, Superior, Pure Gold, Nickel, and Pewter. Platinum and Slicked are too sheer and sparkly for me personally.

Since this is a cream palette it may or may not crease on you. I always use an eyeshadow primer which prevents it from creasing on me. Using a light sheer powder shade over the cream can also help with creasing. While cream shadows can be a little harder to blend, they are so easy for me to use so I love them.

Rimmel London Magnif’eyes Shadow palettes are calling and you want to answer

Rimmel Long Magnif-Eyes Shadow palettes

Rimmel Long Magnif-Eyes Shadow palettes

I have a confession to make. This past winter I splurged and spent a small fortune on two Tom Ford palettes. I was swayed by the beautiful photography I saw online and the descriptions. The confession is that I have worn them so little yet I’ve worn these Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Shadow palettes ($7.99) over and over and over since they were sent to me. I learned a lesson here that I want to pass on. Even though I crave luxury cosmetics, you can find products at the drugstore that are absolutely lovely and that you’ll love.

These are actually called MAGNIF’EYE EYESHADOW CONTOURING PALETTE but that’s too long and unwieldy. The palettes though are not unwieldy. Each has 12 shades that have gradient colors from light to dark. The contouring comes in since the back of the palette shows you that you can look at the palette in terms of lightest for all over the lid or highlighting, medium shades to add depth, and darkest shades for contouring and definition.

Rimmel Magnif'Eyes palette back

Rimmel Magnif’Eyes palette back

Rimmel London created 3 different Magnif’eyes Palettes with 12 shadows each. I have London Nudes Calling and Grunge Glamour and I refuse to play favorites since at that price you can have all 3 if you desire. Grunge Glamour is available at Ulta right now while all three can be found at Walgreens (sale going on now too).

Rimmel Magnif'eyes London Nudes and Grunge Glamour

Rimmel Magnif’eyes London Nudes and Grunge Glamour

Many of the shadows have a light shimmer to them but you won’t find that they are glittery. I’ll attempt to describe the shades.

LONDON NUDES CALLING:

Rimmel London Magnif'eyes London Nudes Calling

Rimmel London Magnif’eyes London Nudes Calling

  1. light shimmery white
  2. light shimmer gold
  3. light satiny cream
  4. matte beige (blends in invisibly on my eye)
  5.  (out of order on my arm) satin sand
  6. metallic rose gold

    Rimmel Magnif'eyes London Nudes Calling

    Rimmel Magnif’eyes London Nudes Calling

  7. satiny copper
  8. satin taupe
  9. satiny golden taupe
  10. satin chocolate
  11. satin deep chocolate with a hint of purple
  12. lightly metallic bronze

There’s just about every shade you want when you are playing with nudes, even smokey eyes are easy to do. What I love about this palette is that the colors apply well but even more important is that they last. You don’t need another palette to find a base coat or eyeliner since London Nudes Calling has it all!

GRUNGE GLAMOUR

This palette has a darker feel to it and while there are a few nudes, it goes beyond to help you have more drama aka glamour.

Rimmel London Magnif'eyes Grunge Glamour

Rimmel London Magnif’eyes Grunge Glamour

  1. matte cream
  2. satin very light golden sand
  3. matte flesh
  4. lightly shimmered golden taupe
  5. satin pewter
  6. metallic denim

    Rimmel London Magnif'eyes Grunge Glamour

    Rimmel London Magnif’eyes Grunge Glamour

  7. satin charcoal
  8. matte charcoal
  9. matte milk chocolate
  10. shimmered dark charcoal
  11. shimmery black
  12. almost metallic purple

This is a perfect companion piece too to London Nudes Calling for me since I love the purple with some of the shades in that one.

With an eyeshadow primer these last the day for me. I get a little fallout when I’m first applying but that’s easily cleaned up, other than that they don’t budge or fade. They really stay true throughout the day. While the palette itself doesn’t have the class of a Tom Ford palette neither does it have the price. I am much happier with these two palettes and will make sure I have an eye out for any future editions.  —  Marcia

BEAUTY-JUNKEES-LIMITED-EDITION-EYESHADOW-PALETTE-2017-2_1024x1024Lisa shares the Limited Edition 28 piece eyeshadow collection ($119)

This palette seems pricey, but let’s do some math…although I’ll need the help of a calculator because math has never been my strong suit!  The gorgeous LE 28 Piece Eyeshadow Palette from Beauty Junkees costs $119, and if we just count the eyeshadows that’s $4.25 per eyeshadow.  Beauty Junkees LE 28 Palette

The eyeshadows can all be purchased separately for $6, which automatically makes this a great deal. However, even that math is misleading because you also get the beautifully sturdy palette with a full mirror, as well as a dual-sided eyeshadow brush.  That makes this palette a terrific value – that is, if the eyeshadows are good – and they are!!

The texture of the eyeshadows is a bit powdery, but they have tons of pigment and are super blendable.  I am able to build them up easily for impressive color impact, and the shades are gorgeous, ranging all the way from white to black.

Marcia shares some singles and an eyebrow gel

Since Lisa told you about this amazing set of eyeshadows I am ready to tell you about a few singles, their terrific magnetic makeup palette and their clear brow gel. These are all items that you would love to own.

The Large Black Empty Magnetic Palette with Mirror is fabulous for any blush, highlighters or eyeshadows you own or plan to buy. This is easily the sturdiest palette I own.

Beauty Junkees Empty Magnetic Palette

Beauty Junkees Empty Magnetic Palette

I own several empty palettes that I’ve filled with my own eyeshadows and blushes but there isn’t one that I’d consider traveling with except for this Beauty Junkees one. It holds an incredible amount of cosmetics. Shadows the size of Beauty Junkees own, MAC pans, Makeup Geek pans, Make Up For Ever pans, and so many more fit in here securely. You can fit 28 of those pans in this $19.97 palette. It’s deeper than most, has a very heavy duty magnetic bottom, and closes firmly. It even comes with a Beauty Junkees double ended brush. With all the cosmetics that BJ now sells this is a necessity in my book.

Oh Deer is a matte light brown. This is the type of shade that can be used as a transition shade

Citrus is a bright metallic orange just like the name implies, it’s like the sun on a very shiny day.

Steel Wool is a charcoal gray with interest, it has just the slightest amount of shimmer to it making it more than your typical gray. You can use this with a light hand for a soft gray or layer it for a smokey eye.

Beams of Light is a must have. It’s an iridescent pink white that is unicorn special. They call it pure white but it’s that pink that gets my heart racing.

Beauty Junkees Beams of Light

Blink Pink has a satin finish and a teeny amount of glimmer to it. It’s a soft pink that’s not chalky.

Beauty Junkees singles and clear eyebrow gel

Beauty Junkees singles and clear eyebrow gel

Beauty Junkees Clear Eyebrow Gel is just one of 4 brow gels they have. Clear is a great tamer. I have BJ’s Brown Eyebrow Gel to give me color and tame and now this Clear one (also available in Auburn and Blonde). I like to use this over a powder eyebrow shade so that my brows are smoother and the powder lasts the day. It is not gooey nor does it dry hard. It leaves a natural look so that only you know it’s there and it makes you feel confident about your eyebrows lasting through any kind of weather or conditions.

MARCIA has the BACK STAGE COLLECTION, NATURAL NUDES COLLECTION ($6.99)

Jesse’s Girl Natural Nudes Collection

Natural Nudes has the typical nude shades we all like to use but this is not a boring nude palette. Oh no, these shadows have a kick to them. There are 10 office to party shadows that have great pigment to them. 5 shimmered shadows and 5 matte shadows make a perfect combination.

On the top row you’ll find the lightly shimmered satiny eyeshadows along with one matte. The palette is on the warm side but not so warm that they look yellow, I actually should describe them as neutral warm. None of the shadows have glitter which is what makes it perfect for all day use.

#1 is a very light warm pink with no visible glitter; #2 is peachy pink with a light amount of shimmer, it looks lighter on than in the palette; #3 is a version of rose gold; #4 is deceptive in the palette since it looks taupe but applies with a touch of pink, it’s not often you’ll find a pinky taupe so the uniqueness is terrific; #5 is a matte chocolate; and #6 is a beautiful shimmered dark purple, this can look black but it has great purple undertones and a touch of reddish shimmer.

On the bottom are the 4 matte shades that make for perfect base colors, browbone shades or transition color. There’s a matte shade in here to match everyone.

Oops, I reversed them so excuse me!! The shades range from cream to light beige, to light tan to a light milk chocolate. These are incredibly smooth and easy to work with. I find that the light beige (second from left below) gives me a great base and brow shade.

I’m very happy with this palette and once I see Lisa’s I will probably want to place an order myself.

LISA has BACK STAGE COLLECTION, SOUNDS OF THE CITY ($6.99)

I have the Sounds of the City Collection. This is a collection of neutral mattes and soft shimmers. It’s a perfect palette for those who prefer a more natural look, which is rather ironic given the name. The colors all lean cooler than the one Marcia tested and only one eyeshadow veers toward frosty.Jesses Girl Sounds of the City Collection

The bottom row has the matte base shades, and the top row has the shimmery shades. The pigmentation in most of them is excellent, with only a few needed more packed on for a little more ‘oomph’ – #3 and #4.

#1 is a shimmery cream – this one has the most shimmer and is actually on the frosty side. #2 is a golden brown. #3 is a light golden brown. #4 is a light creamy tan. #5 is a shimmery taupe. #6 is a very pretty shimmery steel grey.

The bottom row has all matte shades. #7 is a matte cream. #8 is a matte medium brown. #9 is a matte dark brown. #10 is a matte blue grey.

#1 needs a very light hand or it becomes quite frosty – not a good look on my middle age eyelids. #3 and #4 are very light shades that make great lid colors, but I do find I have to dig my brush into the shadow to get enough product to really show up. #6 makes for a beautiful smoky eye. The shimmer is excellent – just enough to give the shades complexity yet still be tame enough for the work day.

The bottom row are all matte shades, and I find I use them most often. I love #7 as a base shade with some thick black liner and loads of mascara. #8 and #10 are great crease shades and #9 is beautiful with tons of pigment.

For just under $7, these eyeshadow palettes are a steal – why not pick up both of them? Jesse’s Girl continues to impress us and we know you are going to love it too.
