Simyskin: Phase II and Phase III Eye Serums review

SimySkin™ is a US cosmetics and beauty care company that was new to the BIZ, which makes sense since it’s just over a year old, having launched in February of 2014. Their mission is to offer anti-aging skin care products that are high quality, effective, and low cost. SimySkin takes skin care very seriously and in fact has an oncologist on the team as skin cancer has become a major issue in the past 30 years.

They sent the BIZ two different eye serums to test: Phase II, which is meant for those aged 25 to 45, and Phase III, for those aged 45+. Phase I is for those aged 18 to 25…we wish!! What kind of results did we have after a few months of testing?  Read on to find out!

Simyskin Phase II Eye Serum

Simyskin Phase II Eye Serum

Ok, I will be honest…I am actually a smidge older than the end of the Phase II age spectrum. I only surpass it by a few years, though, so for comparison purposes we thought it would be just fine. I like the fact that the ingredients in the eye serums change based on age as our skin care needs change as we get older. The Phase II Eye Serum is formulated to address dark circles and puffiness, along with providing protection, skin cell regeneration, and enhanced skin elasticity.

Simyskin Phase II Eye Serum

Simyskin Phase II Eye Serum

The eye serum is lightweight and comes in very interesting packaging. The top of the bottle has a dispenser, along with a cooling metal ball that spreads the serum while calming and depuffing the undereye area. Phase II gives immediate gratification, instantly soothing and smoothing skin – it truly is a noticeable difference. The main ingredients include Dipetide-2 for conditioning skin and improving circulation, along with hyaluronic acid for hydration and elasticity.

SimySkin™ reports some impressive results:

-    Anti-inflammatory reduction of 33%

** Clinical Participants 70% experienced skin improvement after 56 days

I most definitely saw an improvement and I really like this serum. Considering my age, I could probably use Phase III now, but I do think that Phase II is a terrific option for those in the 25 to 45 age range.

Active Ingredients

Dipeptide-2; Hesperidin methyl chalcone; Lipopeptide pal-GQPR ; Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid; Hyaluronic Acid; Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7; Ubiquinone; Sorghum bicolor stalk juice

Simyskin Phase III Eye Serum

SimySkin Phase III Eye Serum

I can look at it one of two ways – I’m worth more ($65 instead of $55) or I’m older (over 45). I think I’ll just take both. I can’t deny that I’m over 45 and I know darn well I’m worth more! If you’ve followed Beauty Info Zone you might know that I am crazy about eye creams of all sorts. It’s the one product I crave and truthfully I own a lot. SimySkin™ Anti-Aging Eye Serum Phase III is a nice addition to my collection but it’s not going to stop me from continuing my search.

This is a very gentle and lightweight serum that helps in a myriad of ways. The goal is to correct, repair, protect and reverse visible signs of aging. SimySkin™ uses 6 active ingredients in this eye serum that work on decreased appearance of puffiness, darkcircles and fine lines. That’s what I desperately need.

Two of the most important ingredients are Hersperidin Methylchalcone which helps reduce dark circles and discoloration, and Acetyl Dipeptide  to reduce the appearance of lines and calm the skin.

The unique ball massager on the applicator tip is a nice touch but I found I had to use so much more of the eye serum than I felt necessary or it would stick on my skin and not move. I didn’t use it most of the time but I did love it in the morning under my eyes when I looked particularly puffy.

Unfortunately this has a fragrance which is why I said it won’t stop me from my search. I can tolerate the fragrance in the morning but I can’t tolerate it at night. As someone who struggles with insomnia I am very picky about what I smell like in bed since anything can keep me from falling asleep. The fragrance of SimySkin Anti-aging Eye Serum kept me awake. I didn’t feel like it dissipated quickly enough. I know that this wouldn’t stop most people, it’s just my opinion. If you aren’t sensitive to fragrance and want an eye serum that helps with all the over 45 signs of aging, then consider this one since it does work well.

Active Ingredients

Acetyl dipeptide 1 cetyl ester; Hesperidin methyl chalcone; Sorbitan laurate; Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid; Hyaluronic Acid; Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7; Ubiquinone; Sorghum bicolor stalk juice

Five fantastic Mother’s Day gift ideas!

Five Mothers Day Gift Ideas
Mother’s Day is only eight days away…are you going to go traditional with some flowers or venture out of the box with something that really makes her happy? Here are five great products sent to us recently that your mom will love.

Onsen Smoothing Eye Serum

1.  Onsen Smoothing Eye Serum ($170)

What mom wouldn’t love an eye serum?? This is a spendy one, but it is pretty darn fabulous. If price is no object, this retinol-based serum is perfect. It gives major hydration while lifting and firming the under eye area. You don’t need much, so this bottle lasts a very long time.

Nailtini Frappe Nail Polish

2.  nailtini nail polish in Frappe ($13)

Simply the perfect neutral nail polish. Every mom needs great looking nails and this sheer, glossy polish will work for almost everyone. Frappe is a creamy nude with just a hint of shell pink. It’s understated and classy. Love it.

Clean Home Fragrance in Fresh Laundry

3.  Clean Home Fragrance in Fresh Laundry ($34)

Nothing makes me think of my mom more than the smell of Fresh Laundry…I’ll never forget my husband telling her that when she stays with us, he ends up wearing the same clothes every day because his laundry is always done so promptly. Needless to say he has the opposite problem when I am in charge. I love this delightful room spray and I’ll bet your mom will too.

RoC Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Restoring Night Cream

4.  RoC Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Restoring Night Cream ($28.99)

Marcia originally reviewed this almost two years ago (check out her review HERE) and it has been a favorite of mine ever since. This awesome night moisturizer is the result of 7 years of research and it is a dream date for dry skin. Not only does it moisturize, it also firms skin and evens out skin tone. It is a wonderful treatment for mature skin.

Cool It Caddy collage

5.  Cool-It Caddy ($24.95)

This really is the coolest gift you can get your mom. Every beauty nut brings a few cosmetics to the beach or on a picnic, and finding a favorite lipstick all melted is just the worst. The Cool-It Caddy is a cosmetics bag that keeps your makeup (and snacks!) cool and fresh. Keep it in the freezer and it’s always ready to travel to the golf course, the pool, or the tennis court. Cool-It Caddy is a perfect size bag for your lipstick, sunscreen, medicine, and a nutrition bar or two. The outside of the bag is sleek and easy to clean, and the coolant stays cool for up to 8 hours. It is great to carry by itself or slip into a purse or backpack. There are different sizes and styles available – pictured above is the ‘Bella’ in pink.

Show your mom how much you love her this Mother’s Day with something as unique and special as she is.  Moms really are the best kind of superhero!  – Lisa

MDSUN Super Hydration B Serum and Intensive Eye Gel

MDSUN Skincare, the cosmeceutical line created by Dr. George Sun, is an intriguing line that features some of the most effective skin care ingredients available.  They recently sent us their Super Hydration B Serum ($85) and Intensive Eye Gel ($105) to test, which proved to be an impressive introduction to this line.

MDSUN Super Hydration B Serum and Intensive Eye Serum

The Super Hydration B Serum is a skin treatment that is housed in one of the most beautiful bottles I have ever seen for a serum.  Usually serums have rather boring packaging, but the silver and blue glass bottle is a stunner!  Of course, looks aren’t everything and it’s what is inside that counts.  This serum has great ingredients that hydrate and smooth skin.  Here are the benefits listed on the web page:

MDSUN Super Hydration B Serum

  • Spreads easily and fast absorbing, non-greasy finish
  • Nourishes and hydrates the skin for a glowing complexion
  • Leaves your skin feeling exceptionally smooth
  • Protects against moisture loss and oxidative damage

The major ingredients include sodium hyaluronate, which is the salt form of skin plumping hyaluronic acid; panthenol, which is another name for vitamin B5, which keeps skin healthy and blemish-free; plus gluconolactone and lactobionic acid, which are similar to AHAs but less likely to irritate skin.  These ingredients reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

I use this serum morning and night after cleansing and before moisturizing, and it leaves my skin looking and feeling great.  Because it helps skin retain moisture, it plumps up fine lines and wrinkles and definitely improves their appearance.  I know I will use every last drop of this serum and it is on my repurchase list.

MDSUN Intensive Eye Serum

MDSUN Intensive Eye Gel also has very attractive packaging.  The bottle is a cheery, sunny yellow – and so is the eye gel!  It definitely took me aback the first time I tried it.  This eye gel has lots of powerful antioxidants and vitamins to reduce dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles.  The benefits include:

  • Dark Eye Circles – high concentrations of Vitamin K work decrease the venous condition that causes dark eye circles
  • Pigmentation – ascorbic acid works to reduce melanin pigmentation
  • Static Wrinkles/Movement Wrinkles – oat extracts for hydration and arginine for improving wrinkles
  • Puffiness – anti-inflammatory ingredients reduce swelling and soothe skin
  • Lightweight, fast absorbing texture is perfect for oily/combination skin
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Fragrance free
  • Paraben free

The major ingredients include Vitamin K1, an anti-inflammatory that helps reduce dark circles; acetyl hexapeptide-8, which is a cell-communicating peptide; ubiquinone CoQ10, which stimulates collagen production and heals UV damage; and ascorbic acid, a type of vitamin C that works as an antioxidant.

I use this eye gel morning and night and am very pleased with the results.  I prefer an eye cream over an eye gel, but the gel is certainly calming to the eye area and it minimizes puffy morning eyes.  I will keep using this in the a.m. and will probably switch to an eye cream for night.

MDSUN Intensive Eye Serum and Super Hydration B Serum

Overall, I am quite impressed with these two products.  The packaging is stellar and the product formulas are elegant with extremely effective ingredients.   I think this is a line to get excited about, and I can’t wait to try more of MDSUN Skincare.  – Lisa

Red wine and chocolate…and DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Eye Lift

Recently I read an article featuring 20 different people who lived to be over 100 years old.  Each one was asked the secret to their longevity.  While one randy old guy said ‘lots of whiskey and wild women’, what really struck me was how many people said red wine and chocolate were staples in their diets.  I immediately thought of the eye cream I have been testing, sent to us by DermaquestStem Cell 3D Eye Lift ($78).

Dermaquest Eye Lift Stem Cell 3D

DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Eye Lift

I love this!

I love this!

Right inside the box is the message, “Red wine, chocolate and this serum are all full of antioxidants.  Lucky you.”  Red wine and chocolate are most certainly enjoyable means of getting those antioxidants – might as well have enjoyable skin care, too!

DermaQuest is a spa skin care line that has been around since 1999.  They make professional and physician-only products, and are known for products featuring the latest in skin care technology.  They have a slew of products that feature botanical stem cell technology, including a facial cleanser, serum, tinted moisturizer, and body creme.

Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Eye Lift

DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Eye Lift

Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Eye Lift

DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Eye Lift

What I really like about this eye cream is it gives an instant lift, and who doesn’t like immediate gratification?  Even better, it keeps on working to ultimately give great results over time.  Eye Lift is a cross between a cream and a serum.  It’s a great morning eye cream because while it hydrates, it’s not heavy and doesn’t interfere with concealer or foundation application.

There are so many interesting ingredients in this elegant eye cream – just take a look at that list!! Botanical stem cells are some of the newer kids on the skin care block, and research suggests they are highly effective at reducing wrinkles and protecting skin from environmental damage. Another one of the main ingredients is capryllic/capric triglyceride, which is derived from coconut and is fantastic for repairing skin tissue.  Red algae is another antioxidant that also works as an emollient, making this eye cream nicely hydrating for the undereye area.

In the quest to be healthy and look younger, it seems that it pays to drink a little red wine and have a little chocolate every day.  It also pays to use a little eye cream – and DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Eye Lift is a great option full of cutting-edge skin care ingredients.  – Lisa

Top 10 Tuesday picks favorite eye creams

Give me eye cream now! Give me eye balm immediately! Give me eye serums ASAP. If it’s for the delicate eye area I want it. I’ve reviewed a lot of eye creams so picking just 10 (or 9 as you’ll see) was extremely difficult. Some came to mind instantly because I’m either using them or I’ve bought them again. Others are ones I really enjoyed but picking between them was a difficult choice. My Top Ten are ones I would recommend without a doubt so let’s see what they are:

1. ALGENIST EYE RENEWAL BALM –  I’m on my second jar of the Algenist plus I’ve used up some sample sizes. This is the first eye cream I thought of when we picked this topic. I chose this for my desert island Beauty Spotlight Team and I’d chose it again.

2. KATE SOMERVILLE KateCeuticals MULTI-ACTIVE EYE CREAM - Kate Somerville makes more than one eye cream. I’m sure they are all wonderful but this one is the most wonderful. My eyes drank this up and begged for more. If you are looking for true anti-aging properties, splurge on this.

3. SOMME INSTITUTE EYE – I’ve repurchased every product from Somme Institute. At first I didn’t repurchase EYE but as soon as I was done with it, I missed it. Even though it doesn’t contain SPF it’s one of my favorite daytime eye creams. It’s lightweight and concealer doesn’t crease when I mix it with Somme Eye. Watch for this on Hautelook.

4. SENNA LIFT AND LIGHTEN EYE CREAM – It’s been four years since I reviewed this Senna Eye Cream but I haven’t forgotten it. I bought a second jar at IMATS because I love how it lightens my dark circles and hydrates under my eyes. Plus it’s still only $28 even after all this time.

5. YBF CORRECT – Simple name, not so simple protect. Your Best Face (YBF) tells you succinctly what their products will do and then they prove it by doing research and using the best ingredients to make sure their products work. Correct works!

6. YES TO BLUEBERRIES EYE FIRMING TREATMENT – This is my latest eye cream. I’ve been using it daily for about 6 weeks and I can’t bring myself to move on. It totally surprised me since I’m not a mass market skincare person in general but this has kept my eyes looking less lined, my dark circles at bay and has rid me of morning puffiness. For $15-20 (depending on where you buy it) this is a must to try.

7. LIFT LAB LIFT & FIRM EYE CREAM – The gel like texture of Lift Lab’s Eye Cream is very soothing. It’s lightweight and you don’t even realize you have it on during the daytime. What you will realize is how soft the skin around your eyes feels and how your puffiness isn’t really noticeable.

8. EXUVIANCE AGE REVERSE EYE CONTOUR – The name tells you one of the reasons I like this. I won this in a giveaway almost 4 years ago and wish I had it again. My memory is short when it comes to “why did I come into this room” but not on eye creams. It helps firm the collagen around eyes. I need this again.

9. DERMAdoctor WRINKLE REVENGE RESCUE & PROTECT EYE BALM – This does it all. It moisturizes, firms, reduces puffiness, helps eliminate dark circles, helps with fine lines and bakes cookies. Ok, I’m kidding about the cookies but it would if it could. It’s thicker than most of the others I’ve mentioned but sometimes you need that.

10. EYES by TO GO SPA EYE MASKS – I’m cheating. I can’t help it. When you need a way to make your eyes look less lined and more relaxed you want something like an eye mask. I’ve tried and loved quite a few but I always go back to EYES by ToGoSpa. They now have 3 varieties and it’s hard to pick which you want but you won’t go wrong with any of them. These are collagen eye masks that you want any time you want to look your best.

Tighten up with StriVectin 360 Tightening Eye Serum and Tightening Body Cream

I don’t know what it is about this fall, but I have had allergies like crazy.  My eyes have been so puffy it’s awful – for a while it constantly looked like I had been crying nonstop…not pretty.  So I started using StriVectin-TL 360 Tightening Eye Serum ($69) and I was thrilled with the results.

I adore the applicator for this anti-aging eye serum.  It has a metal tip that feels very cool on the skin.  Squeeze a little serum out and smooth it on with the metal tip, and puffiness instantly subsides.

cooling metal tip applicator

This serum tightens up the skin around the eyes, so while it reduces puffiness it also firms and hydrates.   StriVectin has some pretty amazing before and after pictures, check them out here:

See how it takes away that puffiness and crepey look?

360 Tightening Eye Serum swatch

360 Tightening Eye Serum is a light serum that sinks in quickly.  It has no discernible scent, and it’s easy – and very soothing – to apply.  This is a real winner.

So, puffy, droopy eyes conquered, I looked to see what else was drooping…and realized my ENTIRE BODY was succumbing to gravity.  Enter StriVectin-TL Tightening Body Cream ($59).

This is an extremely rich body cream that helps to tighten up the skin on any part of your body that needs firming, like knees, elbows, and arms.

body cream

I was skeptical, but the before and after pictures looked very impressive.  Check it out:

StriVectin says that the “NIA-114™ + protein tighteners enhance skin density and restore skin barrier to help retain vital moisture.”

I have had excellent results, especially when I got disciplined and began to use this every morning and every night.  Now my knees, thighs, elbows and upper arms look so much better and a whole lot younger.

Tighten up!

I think both the 360 Tightening Eye Serum and the Tightening Body Cream are great.  If you have problems with puffiness, crepey skin, or just need a little extra assistance in your fight with gravity, you need to check these out.  – Lisa

Wai Hope Eye Dew Hydrosurge and Seawater Recharging Mist reviews

Wai Hope EYE DEW Hydrosurge

As time goes on we are learning more and more about what ingredients are reliable to be used in our skincare. Wai HopeTM Organic Skincare was created to only use ingredients that they trust to be the purest of their kind. The creator, Vincene Parrinello, has studied something called Biomarine waterTM, a unique restructured water containing the exclusive red Fijian seaweed, Callophycus Serratus. For the last 7 years she has done clinical studies showing that this rare seaweed has anticancer, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties. For Wai HopeTM Organic Skincare the secrets of life are in the sea so all their products contain “WAI Restructured Water”, Biomarine Water that has been enhanced through their proprietary ozonation process. Vincene Parrinello is a cancer survivor so what goes into Wai Hope products is exceptionally important to her.

I’ve been using two Wai HopeTM Organic products for the last several months: Seawater Recharging Mist ($40, 4 oz) and Eye Dew Hydrosurge ($90, 1 oz).

Wai Hope Seawater Recharging Mist

Seawater Recharging Mist  is a mist I use at different times of the day. I like using it on damp skin right out of the shower as a toner. It helps soothe skin and diminish broken capillaries. As I get older I find that I have more and more broken capillaries and want to prevent these from continuing. My mother is 93 years old this week (happy birthday Mom) and I notice these on her fair skin and how it bothers her. I’m hoping that by working on this early I might be able to keep this from happening to me. The other time I like using the Seawater Recharging Mist is when I’m going from day to night. I don’t want to wash the day off but I want to refresh so a spray like the Wai Hope is perfect.

Seawater Recharging Mist sprayer

This is excellent for all skin types but if you are someone (or know someone) with dna compromised skin due to chemo, radiation or medications this is especially soothing and helpful. As a cancer survivor Vincene Parrinello wants only the best for everyone. The ingredient list is only short of amazing. Here are a few highlighted ingredients:

Seawater Recharging Mist ingredients

Wai Restructured Water– is the specialized Biomarine Water™ developed for us in the DermOxyZone™ system and the Wai Organic™ product line.
Red Fijian Seaweed– Callophycus Serratus has clinically proven anti-cancer, anti-bacterial properties global patent pending for exclusive use in Wai Hope™ and DermOxyZone™ products developed by Vincene Parrinello.
Wai IRC™ - is the specialized, proprietary ozonation process a nd delivery system used in Wai Hope™ products.
Aguape’ is a plant that acts as a natural water filter.
Gravata is a fruit like a pineapple used to exfoliate the skin and inhibit facial discolorations caused by tyronase destruction.

What I love most from Wai HopeTM Organic Skincare is their Eye Dew HYDROSURGE™.  My very favorite skincare items are eye creams, eye balms, eye serums. I’m all about the eyes. Protecting the thin, delicate skin around my eyes is important since that’s where age shows first. The texture of this is a cross between a gel and a serum therefore I’ll describe it as a light gel. It wears beautifully under makeup, never interfering with concealer or foundation. It leaves my undereyes feeling dewy but not wet. I don’t worry about mascara or eyeliner smudging there since Eye Dew dries down well.

Wai Hope EYE DEW Hydrosurge

I can’t explain this product better than their website so let me share this with you: “This new formula is a patented delivery system of antioxidants in the BHW Complex and our multi peptide complex. Our exclusive botanical form of Hyaluronic Acid (HyalueraseTM) visibly reduces dark under eye circles and replenishes the elasticity around the outer eye area. Results are more dramatic when used over a period of time. You can expect smoother, younger looking skin around this delicate, vulnerable area! Stop concealing and begin “Eye Dewing”.”

Wai Hope EYE DEW Hydrosurge

Let me talk about their claims

1)      Reduces dark undereye circles – I have horrible insomnia. I’m lucky to get 2 to 3 solid hours of sleep a night. The next morning you can imagine that looking at my undereye area is no picnic. Since I’ve been using the Eye Dew Hydrosurge though I’m noticing a difference. Yes, there are a few mornings that absolutely nothing will help; but the rest of the time I’m not showing those sleepless nights. I credit Wai Hope Eye Dew Hydrosurge for that.

2)      Replenishes the elasticity around the eye area – I think this goes hand in hand with the results I’m seeing for dark circles. I have a few lines around my eyes but relatively few when I take care of my eyes using this light gel formula.

Wai Hope EYE DEW Hydrosurge

I can use Eye Dew Hydrosurge both morning and night. It doesn’t interfere with any makeup I’m using.  My goal is to fight off the signs of aging which is why I love a product like Eye Dew. If I can lessen the lines around my eyes without surgery then it’s worth a little extra money to me. This too is loaded with great ingredients and is paraben free:

Featured Ingredients:

  • Threonine, Serine, Lysine, Acetyl Tyrosine, Leucine- Potent natural “peptides” that stimulate collagen synthesis, reduce appearance of lines and wrinkles- giving skin a smoother texture.
  • Malus Domestica- apple stem cell extract that preserves the youthful texture and vibrancy of the skin, by diminishing the multiple line effect around the eye area.
  • Resveratrol- cripples damaging effects from oxidizing free radicals that contribute to cellular degeneration which is linked to the cellular aging process.
  • Palmitoyl Pentapeptide- stimulates collagen synthesis reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

While there are many skincare lines available out there for us, I think you need to look for a line like this that uses only these natural ingredients. On the days I take care of my adorable grandson I don’t put anything on my face after my shower except for these two Wai Hope products. I might not use anything else for hours but I know that my face is protected. Their motto is so inspiring: Hope for your skin, spirit and life™. I hope I’ve inspired you to look into this great line. — Marcia
