Three must-have products to exfoliate and moisturize from Phytomer

Three must-haves from Phytomer

Three must-haves from Phytomer

We all want radiant, glowy skin and in order to get it there are two basic steps:

  1.  Exfoliate!
  2. Moisturize!

Today I have three must-have products that exfoliate and moisturize and are perfect for those with very sensitive skin. They come from Phytomer, a fantastic high end line that is a favorite of mine. The products truly deliver, all while also making me feel spoiled and pampered. They are on the spendy side, but they are all worth every penny.                                                            samples

Phytomer Purifying Gommage Exfoliant

  1.  Purifying Gommage Exfoliant  ($41.50)  ‘Gommage’ means ‘eraser’ in French, and this awesome exfoliant erases dead skin and anything that might be blogging your pores and preventing your skin care from operating at full force. The tiny particles that scrub away the bad stuff include micro algae and kaolin that attach to dead skin so it can be washed away. It’s applied to clean, dry skin in a thin layer. After about five minutes, rub it in circular motions, moving those particles around and lifting off the dead skin. It sort of rolls up into little balls that fall into the sink. Once most of the exfoliator is gone, use your regular cleanser or even just warm water to wash off.  Do this a few times a week and you will be astounded at how great skin looks and feels. This really is an amazing decongestant for skin and is super gentle. Everyone raves about it for a reason – it’s incredible.  Phytomer Youth Contour Smoothing Eye and Lip Cream
  2. Youth Contour Smoothing Eye and Lip Cream ($81.50) I adore multi-tasking products, and this beautiful light cream works wonders on the delicate skin under eyes and around lips. It addresses three major skin issues: wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles. It has really cool ingredients that are a superhero trio for the eyes and lips. Dilsea Carnosa red algae extract actually reinforces the skin’s support tissue from within, reducing the depth of wrinkles and fine lines. Chlorella Vulgaris green algae extract soothes skin and reduces puffiness, and Delesseria Sanguinea red algae extract increases circulation and reduces dark circles.Phytomer Decollete Parfait Neck and Decollete Renewing Care
  3. Decollete Parfait ($95.50)  The best skin care advice ever: don’t forget your neck!! I love, love, love the Phytomer Decollete Parfait. This beautiful soft cream sort of ‘irons out’ skin on the neck and chest, immediately making it smoother and softer. It has a bit of illumination in it, which evens out tone and gives a beautiful appearance. Over time, the Brightening Marine Complex lightens dark spots so this is immediate gratification with long term results.

I can’t recommend these three favorites from Phytomer highly enough. If you want to get a beautiful glow, try these for perfect exfoliation and moisturization. You won’t be disappointed.  – Lisa

*samples, opinions all mine!

Pick just 5 products from Pixi Beauty? Ooh that’s hard.

It’s Marcia’s turn to be Queen for the Day with the Beauty Spotlight Team. We’ve each chosen a brand that we love to showcase for our readers. You’ve read Never Say Die Beauty’s Too Faced picks along with Justina’s Clinique favorites. Now that it’s my turn I’m picking Pixi Beauty because I wear something from Pixi every single day.pixi-favorites-all

Pixi Beauty is in a class of its own. It’s an independent beauty company that has reasonable mass market prices with department store quality. You can buy most of their line by going to your closest Target or by ordering online through Target.com or on Pixi’s website where you’ll find even more products from them.                                                                       press samples, personal products

Choosing just 5 was a chore since I easily could have chosen a dozen but I narrowed it down as I’m a rule follower. All of my choices are so reasonably priced that your wallet will barely weigh less after picking these up.

Pixi Beauty Summer Glow palette

Pixi Beauty Summer Glow palette

Pixi by Petra has many great palettes so why did I choose the Summer Glow palette (Palette Bronzette) when summer is coming to an end? Two reasons – 1) it’s a great quality palette with eye shades and face shades and 2) it’s being discontinued so I wanted you to get in on the fact that this $28 palette is now only $14 while it lasts. With 12 shadows and liners and 3 facial products this works all year round. “Gilded bronzes, taupes & peaches for eyes + matte bronze, golden beige highlight & pink sheen for complexion.” I have gotten more use out of this Bronzette Palette than any of my Pixi Palettes. Perfect for travel and at $14 you don’t want to miss out.

Pixi Beauty Brow Powder Palette

Pixi Beauty Brow Powder Palette

This brow palette is my most used item from Pixi and I’ll soon be buying a backup. I’ve tried so many brow products and liked most but I love the Pixi Brow Powder palette. As you can see from this recent picture there are two shades that get tons of love while the others get used once in a while but those two shades are perfection for me. It’s hard for me to believe that this 6 color palette is only $12. My hair color changes every 3-4 weeks so it’s easy for me to vary the color of these powders. They are thick enough to stick around, they aren’t powdery meaning no fallout, and this removes easily with water which means less hair to lose. If I had to pick just one item of the 5 this Pixi Brow Powder Palette would be my keeper.

Pixi Multibalms

Pixi Multibalms

Pixi Multibalms: top Baby Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry; bottom Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose

Pixi Multibalms: top Baby Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry; bottom Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose

Pixi Multibalms are my newest love from Pixi Beauty. (Be sure you enter my giveaway to win them!) I’m a huge fan of cream products and almost always pick a cream blush over a powder blush. I’ve been wearing one every day since I received these. There’s one for every color wardrobe and one for every mood. If you twist my arm to ask my favorites I’d pick Watermelon Veil and Wild Rose. At $12 each you can have several for the price of one from a different brand. The Multibalms are great for an easy on the go lip color too so you’ll look coordinated. These are infused with aloe vera, shea butter and rose hip oil adding to my love for these.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

Picking out just one lip product from the many wonderful ones that Pixi Beauty has was the hardest task of all. I love the shea butter lip balms, tinted brilliance balm crayons and Mattelustre lipsticks. But the product that gets used daily is the Nourishing Lip Polish. Another $12 product that is a 2-in-1 lip exfoliator and nourisher. Not only does it protect my dry lips but it has a circulation factor with the unique applicator. You massage the sweet nutrient rich formula onto your lips with the applicator. You’ll want one in every bathroom, your purse, and nightstand.

Pixi by Petra Nail Colours

Pixi by Petra Nail Colours

Nobody ever talks about Pixi’s Nail Colours and I don’t know why. They are terrific. They are 3 free and chip resistant. There are 42 shades for only $8 each. These slim bottles last for many manicures yet take up a small amount of space in my collection. Shown above are Gilded Garnet, Amethyst Amore, Fuchsia Dew and Sweet Strawberry. I’ve found some on sale at my local Target so I’m always checking for them. Like all products from Pixi they are cruelty-free. A Pixi polish is always a fun addition to my life.

While these are my favorites they are just at the top of a long list of products I recommend from Pixi Beauty. What about you? Any favorites from Pixi? Any you know you need to add ASAP?  —  Marcia

The Jojoba Company – Jojoba Bead Facial Cleanser and Natural Pigment Oil

The Jojoba Company Natural Pigmentation Oil and Jojoba Bead Facial Cleanser

The Jojoba Company Natural Pigmentation Oil and Jojoba Bead Facial Cleanser

What is Jojoba oil (pronounced ho-HO-ba)? According to The Jojoba Company jojoba is a desert plant that produces a small bead. ” It produces a rich, pure golden liquid wax (it is often called jojoba ‘oil’).  But unlike oils this unique liquid wax acts like our skin’s own natural oils, absorbing deep below the skins surface. “It is the only plant on earth known to produce a wax similar to that found in young, healthy human skin”

The Jojoba Company has its own farm in Australia so that they can control how the plant is grown, this way they can avoid chemicals and preservatives. The father/daughter team who created the brand have found ways to incorporate the plant and oil into an entire skincare line.

I’ve used The Jojoba Co’s Pure Jojoba Oil (review) for over 6 months to help keep my skin and hair looking their best. When the company offered me their Natural Pigmentation Oil to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of pigmentation, you know I was thrilled. They later sent their Jojoba Bead Facial Cleanser to make life even better!

Jojoba Company jojoba bead facial cleanser

Jojoba Company jojoba bead facial cleanser

Jojoba Bead Facial Cleanser is a very gentle cleanser that’s infused with tiny jojoba beads. This is a cleanser/exfoliator that I can use on a daily basis if I want since it’s so gentle. If you love a very scrubby cleanser this might not be strong enough for you, but it’s perfect for me. I like to use an exfoliating cleanser but I can’t overdo it so this very lightly scented product is a perfect addition to my regime.

“We have used 100% natural solidified jojoba beads that are completely safe and eco-friendly—no plastic particles here. The beads gently exfoliate while hydrating Vitamin C, quandong, aloe vera and Vitamin E dissolve impurities. Use daily as a 2-in-1 cleanser and exfoliator for glowing smooth skin. Suitable for all skin types.”

I love the ingredients used in this and I feel comfortable knowing that this calming cleanser has great natural ones. The jojoba beads won’t hurt the environment so it’s good for everyone.

Jojoba Company Natural Pigmentation Oil

Jojoba Company Natural Pigmentation Oil

The Jojoba Company Natural Pigmentation Oil is meant to target sunspots, age spots, and uneven skintone. There’s a pleasant light citrus fragrance to this. I use it at night since it’s an oil and my foundation has occasionally balled up under it if I’m rushing and not letting it meld into my skin. It’s so moisturizing that at night I don’t need to use another moisturizer if I don’t want.

The packaging is just the best. The top of all Jojoba Company boxes is so great you almost want to store it in the box but this copper colored bottle is beautiful on its own and looks pretty on my vanity.

DDF Glycolic Toning Complex review

DDF Glycolic Toning Complex

DDF Glycolic Toning Complex

Skincare is a funny thing. We all react differently to products. Take my blog partner Lisa and I. We don’t always like the same skincare. She is more hardcore with what she uses while I use a more laid back approach. Lisa is used to skincare with retinols and glycolic acid while I’m cautious about products that contain this.

The reason I’m telling you this is that DDF Glycolic Toning Complex was originally a product that Lisa was going to review, but here I am using it and writing about it after it was sent. While this didn’t agree with her younger, oilier complexion it does with my more aging and dry one.

DDF (Doctors Dermologic Formula) was created by Dr. Howard D. Sobel, a dermatologist who wanted his patients to be able to take care of their skin at home to protect against the signs of aging. Glycolic Toning Complex is part of the DDF Anti-Aging Preventative line meant as a Treatment.

DDF Glycolic Toning Complex

DDF Glycolic Toning Complex

Dr. Sobel created a daily toning complex with Salicylic Acid and a 7% concentration of Ultra Pure Glycolic acid, which is one of the highest grade glycolic acids on the cosmeceutical market today. I honestly was surprised that my skin, not being used to glycolics, would react as well to this toner as it does.

There are 3 main goals with this:

  • Refines skin’s texture by decreasing the look of large pores
  • Helps to minimize fine lines & wrinkles
  • Promotes skin clarity and immediately revitalizes skin’s appearance
DDF Glycolic Toning Complex

DDF Glycolic Toning Complex

Since DDF’s Glycolic Toning Complex uses Salicylic Acid I’ve chosen to use this at night only. I’m using a more gentle AHA in the daytime and always apply sunscreen over it, at night I’ll use this DDF one several times a week after cleansing.

There’s a menthol fragrance to it that is gone quickly so there are no worries there. What I like most is that this helps keep my pores cleaner and not clogged. It’s also helping with my anti-aging goals of staying youthful forever (and a day).

Formulated with skin conditioners, Aloe Vera and Witch Hazel for a safe, daily clean. Sodium Hydroxide stabilizes pH balance for a clear healthy complexion. The natural scent of Peppermint awakens the senses.

GLYCOLIC ACID – Glycolic acid is the most effective fruit acid for exfoliation and skin renewal. It has the smallest molecular structure of all AHAs, thus possesses the greatest penetration potential.

DDF Glycolic Toning Complex

DDF Glycolic Toning Complex

Since I’ve been using this I’ve noticed that my skin is looking brighter so maybe the surface cell turnover is actually working. I’m happy to be in the Preventative stages of DDF Skincare and not ready for the Restorative.

The Via Buff Tape Test

The Via Buff Tape Test

MARCIA’S SIDE:

Via Buff large in level 1 and 3

Via Buff large in level 1 and 3

The 5″ large ViaBuff are perfect for your body. I’ve been using both the purple level 1 and pink level 3 in my shower. Even though they look similar I can feel a difference between them. The purple is much softer but it still does a nice job of exfoliating. Since I have both I get the opportunity to switch between them. The Purple is my body exfoliator while I use the Pink for my feet and legs. For some reason my legs get so much more flaky than the rest of my body and they need so much more work. I pore my shower gel in the middle, run it under water and get it foamy, then get to work on my exfoliating job. There’s a hidden silicone loop to hang it up if you want to leave it in the shower but I prefer to take it out so it doesn’t get wet again when my husband takes a shower. Once I’m out my body really absorbs my body oil or lotion so much better.

ViaBuff facial exfoliators in level 3 and 2

ViaBuff facial exfoliators in level 3 and 2

The facial ViaBuff Exfoliators are 3″ and are so cute. They are a great size because they fit in the palm of your hand and they can get into smaller places. I always need extra help where my nose meets my cheeks and these work great for that area. The Green one is the milder of the two and my favorite. The Pink is the moderate one and even though these look alike I can feel the difference between them. If I’ve been lazy and haven’t exfoliated during the week then pink is the one I’ll use.

If you are looking for physical and not chemical exfoliation ViaBuff is the answer to your concerns.

LISA’S SIDE

Via Buff large in level 2 and 4

Via Buff large in level 2 and 4

I am really enjoying the Via Buff exfoliators as well. I have both the Green Level 2 and the White Level 4 buffers in my shower. The Green Level 2 is for normal skin. It’s pretty soft…I would say that those with very sensitive skin might find it a bit much and would prefer the Purple one, but otherwise the Green is the best choice for everyday use. It works great with regular and liquid soap, and it exfoliates without scratching skin, leaving it soft and supple. I especially like it for prepping to faux tan because it alleviates most flaky patches from dry skin. It’s definitely the one to choose if you suffer from eczema.

Via Buff large in level 2

Via Buff large in level 2

I’ve also been using the White Level 4 ViaBuff, which is the ‘Clinical’ buffer. This is serious stuff for those with very dry skin. I love it for elbows, knees, and feet! It is essential to exfoliate those areas before faux tanning so it comes in handy for that, and I also like it for removing old faux tanner from my legs. It’s too much for any other body parts for me, although sometimes I get KP on my upper arms and the White Level 4 takes care of that in a jiffy. If you have skin that isn’t sensitive at all and is super dry, you will love the White ViaBuff.

Via Buff large in level 4

Via Buff large in level 4

For the smaller facial exfoliators, I tested both ends of the spectrum – the Purple Level 1 which is extra gentle and the White Level 4 which is one serious exfoliator.

ViaBuff Exfoliators

ViaBuff information

ViaBuff information

I love the Purple facial exfoliator, especially when I am tired and not in the mood to spend much time washing my face. I use this in place of makeup remover and cleanser – just get it wet with cleanser and it takes off makeup and cleanses pretty deeply. The white facial exfoliator is too much for my finicky facial skin. I think this is best for teenage skin or those with very clogged pores and congestion. If you have a teenager I can guarantee he or she will want to steal this from you right away.

VIA BUFF can be found at Amazon where there is free shipping as long as you choose the ones sold by ViaBuff (through FutureDerm or ViaBuff). The prices are right at $11 and $4.

Introducing Shielo products with a giveaway

shielo

A company that’s new to Beauty Info Zone is Shielo. Basically it’s a hair care company but not just any hair care. They are inspired by traditional Eastern medicine and they are an organic company. There are so many great things about them like the fact that they have a sustainability policy from their ingredients to their packaging. None of their products contain parabens or formaldehyde preservatives

“Shielo has developed relationships with certain communities to source our unique ingredients. We are committed to partnering with these local farming communities who respect the environment while growing / harvesting ingredients. These are time tested practices that have been passed down for generations, and it is awe-inspiring to see hair care ingredients produced in the most eco-friendly way possible. We use ethically harvested ingredients and cold-pressed extracts, which are designed to be the best and most potent for your hair.”

Not only do they have hair care but they’ve also added complexion products to their repertoire. We were sent one hair products and one skincare product to review plus we have a giveaway at the end for 3 US readers.

Shielo Leave In Protectant

Shielo Leave In Protectant

LISA is using the Leave-in Protectant ($18.99).

Shielo is known for their hair care and based on this styling spray I can see why!  I spritz this leave-in spray onto my towel-dried hair before styling and my hair just loves it. It gives me a great hair hair day every time. The spray is paraben free and it prevents frizz plus provides UV protection. It has tons of antioxidants that are great for hair, including pro-vitamins, proteins and amino acids.Shielo Leave In Protectant

My hair is color treated and this spray not only works fine with it, I think it actually helps keep my color rich and vibrant. It’s a detangler, too. If this is what the hair care products are like from Shielo, then I have no doubt this line is a winner!

Key Ingredients
• UV Protectants and natural antioxidants from White Tea enhance color protection.
• Shea Butter adds a protective moisture barrier to seal the hair shaft.
• Innovative Wheat Crosspolymer creates an invisible safety net around each hair to shield color, increase flexibility and reduce breakage.

MARCIA is using the Shielo Complexion Anti-Aging Scrub

Shielo Complexion Anti-Aging Scrub

Shielo Complexion Anti-Aging Scrub

Read carefully about this SHIELO COMPLEXION ANTI-AGING SCRUB because you could be one of three winners of it! This is the product I chose to review and I’m happy that I did. This is a very gentle scrub that is very effective. They say it can be used 1 – 2 times a day, I think it’s gentle enough that you could use it daily if you wanted.

Shielo Complexion Anti-Aging Scrub

My skin looks and feels well exfoliated after without leaving it dried out or needing excessive moisture. Shielo Complexion Anti-Aging Scrub is for all skin types and for me at least, I had no problem with it when I had a breakout. I was thrilled when Shielo helped rid me of the flakes that occurred around the pimple (my fault – I plucked too hard and then picked!!)

Shielo Complexion Anti-Aging Scrub

Shielo Complexion Anti-Aging Scrub

The exfoliation comes from Aloe Vera + Jojoba Microspheres which are safe for the environment.

I prefer to use this in the shower since it’s a little stubborn to remove it all. I now leave it in the shower, wash my face and add a small amount and apply in a circular motion. I then use a wash cloth to remove it all. You really don’t need a lot to help you get a smoother and healthier complexion. They say it helps with fine lines and wrinkles, lightens skin discoloration and stimulates cellular regeneration.

Key Ingredients:  Aloe Vera Juice  Refreshes skin and renews complexion.

Jojoba  Contains fatty acids that revitalize skin using microspheres which are small and delicate for a microdermabrasion effect.

Allantoin  Soothes the skin while reducing inflammation.

GIVEAWAY INFORMATION: Shielo has kindly offered to send 3 Beauty Info Zone subscribers from the US. This giveaway will be open through March 15, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. EST. If comments close early email us with the comment at beautyinfozone@gmail.com and label it Shielo. Then you are free to continue. Please remember we check entries. Lots of luck.
