I finished things! Amazing empties for March and April

It seems so rare for me to finish anything up completely other than a few staples but the last two months I actually did finish things and I’m ready for the dumpster with these. Until then see what got used up and what I think of these goodies.

March and April 2017 empties

March and April 2017 empties

Before I begin I must admit that I already threw away oodles and oodles of products. As I’m cleaning and packing I found so many that were started but never finished so I only kept the ones I really loved and tried to use those as much as possible. What you aren’t seeing is the trash that my neighborhood has seen!

Let me start with some staple items that I go through every single month and will continue to do so.

Q-tips and DHC Silky Cotton Squares

Q-tips and DHC Silky Cotton Squares

Costco knows me and my habits I’m sure. I buy these double packs of Q-Tips all the time. I use a lot of them in my life so buy stock in the company! I also have gone an unimaginable amount of DHC Silky Cotton Squares. I usually buy 6 at a time and they’ll last me for about 7 months. I noticed though that my last batch isn’t quite as soft as before so now I’m questioning whether they changed them. Anyone know?

Viviscal

Viviscal

I’m on auto-delivery from Amazon for these Viviscal Hair Supplements. I am on a maintenance dose and just take 1 per day rather than 2. I’ve mentioned many times about my hair growth problems and these help me a lot.

Bioderma Micellar Water, Dr. Brandt XYY Dual Fusion Water, Simple Micellar Wipes

Bioderma Micellar Water, Dr. Brandt XYY Dual Fusion Water, Simple Micellar Wipes

It’s obvious that I love Micellar Waters from this picture! I have a stash of Bioderma Sensibio H2O and made a point of finishing up the 500 ml and 100 ml bottles before I move. I have 1 more of each in my cupboard but won’t start those just yet. I did pick up a Garnier Micellar during a sale not long ago but that’s already packed and I also like Simple Micellar Water though I’ve noticed a slight fragrance with it. Simple Micellar Wipes are definitely my favorite wipes though. This is just a sample pack but I have a full size pack in use.

Dr. Brandt XYY Dual Fusion Water is one that I really enjoyed using but it is more expensive than these others. It feels more substantial though and it did a great job of cleansing.

Eclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap, Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

Eclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap, Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

I couldn’t begin to count how many Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Removers I’ve gone through since my first one. No matter how many others I try this is the one product that works for me time and again. I’ve already repurchased this and will again as soon as I move.

Eclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap in Vanilla & Sweet Orange is a great natural soap that’s not drying. I’m stocked up on JR Watkins at the moment but I’ll repurchase this next.

Now for the fun stuff!

Miss Spa Oxygenating Bubble Mask and 24K Gold Creme Mask

Miss Spa Oxygenating Bubble Mask and 24K Gold Creme Mask

I’m not used to saving empties so in the past I never had them around. I purposely saved the packaging of Miss Spa Oxygenating Bubble Mask and 24K Gold Creme Mask since I totally love them. The 24K Gold Creme Mask is one I want to marry. The Oxygenating Bubble Mask was a fun bubbly alternative. I got three uses out of each package so it’s a bargain buy. I will definitely buy more after I test more of the Miss Spa masks I have.

Reviva Labs Vitamin C+ Antioxidant Serum, Hydroskin, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Serum

Reviva Labs Vitamin C+ Antioxidant Serum, Hydroskin, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Serum

I think I finished up Reviva Labs Vitamin C+ Serum but there might be a little left. Nothing pumps out anymore and I only see a drop inside. Reviva Labs is a favorite brand and this is a good example of why I like them. Very efficient and the price is great.

Hydroskin Skincare is a set I reviewed last month. I finished up all 4 of these products which is unusual for me but I dedicated myself to one solid month of just this line. I liked the way my skin looked with it. I still have 2 masks from them to use and review.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Serum is ab fab! Not only do I love this anti-aging serum but I bought a new one before I was finished with the current one. This is my favorite skincare item from IT Cosmetics. I wish the price was less but I’ll continue buying and using this. I’m in love!

It’s a given that any time I would share an empty post that I’d have mascara. This time though I saved them after determining what needed to go before the big move. I found a lot of deluxe sample sizes and used them until dry or I didn’t care for them anymore.

In no particular order:

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara  –  always a favorite, I have another mini and a full size one still

Marc Jacobs Volume Mascara– while I liked the sample size from a kit I had bought I didn’t care for the full size one I had bought so it’s not to be purchased again.

Le Volume de Chanel  –  Love this even if this was tiny. I would buy it if I was flush.

2 more minis I forgot to picture: Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara which I loved and plan to buy one day soon. Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes, another dilemma since the sample was great but I wasn’t thrilled when I had it in full size.

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum – love, love, love this. It’s a perfect brown liquid eyeliner. This is the second one I’ve finished and I’m using my third. There will be a 4th and 5th for sure.

Smashbox Brow Tech To Go – while I didn’t use up the gel side I did use up every bit of the brow crayon side. It’s a very handy item but I just don’t need another right now.

IT Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Eyeliner in Black is one I enjoyed until it decided to break so I couldn’t use it anymore. I like these liners in general though and turn to them often when I want a pencil eyeliner.

A 3x use sample of Too Faced Shadow Insurance that was in my stash. I always have TFSI in my collection!

And one toss:

Z Palette

Z Palette

I got a few years worth of use from this but then it self-destroyed. It came apart and no longer is of use. I have others plus Z Palette is out of favor right now.

So there you have it. My empties, many of which are old standbys and a new love (Stila Huge Mascara) all wrapped up in my recycling bin for now.

My January and February empties

Empties

Empties

This article is actually written for my blogger friends. Every month they will write an empty post and I always say I’m going to do that but I never do. I finally made a decision to get one done even if it’s messy looking.

First thing I have to point out is that I forgot a few things. They disappeared from the bag I thought I’d put everything in. Second thing to share with you is that I’ve thrown away hundreds of items this month. As you may know we are planning on selling our house (I don’t want to though). We’ve lived in this wonderful home for 30 years and I’ve got 30 years worth of items to sort through. I’ve given away many many bags of items; I’ve donated brand new beauty products to charity; I’ve given a makeup artist all the brand new MAC that I’d bought and put aside. I didn’t photograph what I tossed because I needed to be ruthless or I’d stop.

So here we go with what I actually finished or considered finished for January and February.cleansersCLEANSING ITEMS

Wipes: Simple Micellar Water Cleansing Wipes are great. I really like these non-fragranced wipes. This is a travel package and I have another travel one almost empty. I’ve bought these several times and have a brand new one waiting. Clinique Take The Day Off Micellar Cleansing Towelettes came from one of the subscription boxes. While I liked using them I’m not sure I’ll rebuy because the Simple Wipes are less expensive and just as effective. I also finished up a package of Aveeno wipes at the beginning of January but forgot to save the empty.

Cotton squaresKleenex Cotton Soft Pads are very nice. I have 3 new boxes (and you are seeing 1 in the photo) so I don’t need to purchase more for a long time. I won’t mail order these but hopefully they are coming to stores soon. DHC Silky Cotton are the ones I truly love though. I buy at least 6 at a time so that I always have them around. I like that they are sturdier than the Kleenex ones and Shiseido’s version.

Eye Makeup RemoverMary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover is the bomb. I’ve tried so many brands yet always come back to the Mary Kay one. Kleenex Eye Makeup Remover pads are one of my most disliked items. When I reviewed the Kleenex items I expressed that they had a fragrance I didn’t care for. As time went on I couldn’t even open the packaging because the fragrance made me gag. It never got better and as I opened it to take pictures it still bothered me. So these actually got tossed and I’ll keep far away from them in the future.IMG_0659

Bath and body: I didn’t even think about saving the items I used up. Several of them looked pretty groddy after being in the shower so long but I did finish up some body washes and scrubs. The two that recently got finished are After Spa body scrub and a mini FarmHouse Fresh Sweet Cream Sea Salt Scrub. I’ve just purchased a new FHF Scrub plus I have many from blogging so I’m good for now.

skincare

skincare

Skincare: what a lonely little group here. It takes me forever to use up any skincare mostly because I keep testing new items. All three items shown are ones I’d buy (or have bought) again: Supergoop Advanced Aging SPF Eye Cream, Skin Again Youth moisturizer, and Evian Natural Mineral Water.

EYES

EYES

Mascara: I usually have 3 or 4 mascaras open. I like switching up. Finished up in Jan and Feb are: Bellimisa Masterful Eyes Mascara (I like this a lot), Benefit Roller Lash (a winner and my favorite of this group), Max Factor X Masterpiece Max (this was a limited edition mascara that I hope becomes available again, and Burberry Bold Lash Mascara. I wouldn’t buy the Burberry since it was fragranced and didn’t live up to a high end mascara’s claims. Then there are the minis like Urban Decay Perversion (doesn’t work for me) and Armani Eyes to Kill Length & Volume Lash Artillery. If I’m going to spend on luxury mascara it would be the Armani, it’s a great mascara for my needs.

Miscellaneous: These two eye products are actually tosses, not empty. Maybelline Color Tatto Metal in Barely Branded and ColourPop Gel Eyeliner. Both dried out and won’t be replaced. While I really like the Maybelline it got too difficult to use. ColourPop gel eyeliner pots were a total disappointment. All of mine dried up plus they smudged on me. Max Factor Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eyeliner has been tossed since I just didn’t work for my eye shape so I always had smudges. Too Faced Shadow Insurance is a favorite of mine and I already have one opened and a backup. I forgot to include Milani’s Eyeshadow Primer which is another one I love to use. Last is Wink All Natural Lash and Brown Enhancer which is a keeper. I’m on my second one and will purchase again when it’s finished. It’s helping my skimpy eyebrows become a little fuller and much healthier.

face

Lips: somehow I only finished (or remembered to save) two items. Gosling’s ChopSaver (a wonderful SPF 15 lip balm) and Mary Kay lipliner in Dusty Rose. I’ve loved the Mary Kay lipliner for years but they discontinued it so what you see is old packaging. But I found a seller on ebay with a slew of NIB liners and I bought several. The color is a MLBB for me.

Hair: I’ve only shown Close-Up Hair Supplement for Women. There was a month’s supply but I stretched them out by taking one a day instead of two. I totally forgot to take a picture of Brazilian Blowout Acai Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner but both were finished (and rebought) in these two months.

Last is IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Full Coverage Cream which I used up to the very end. I will repurchase this but not for a while since I’m overloaded with foundation and have a collection of ones from IT Cosmetics.

My biggest regret in these pictures is that I just didn’t think to save the packages of all the face, eye, and lip masks I used up. I was too quick to toss them and the packaging.

I hope you enjoyed reading about what a makeup fanatic uses up. This won’t be a regular feature because I’m in tossing mode but maybe once I’ve moved I’ll be able to start saving again. What about you? What have you emptied of late?  —  Marcia
