Lush is going coconuts!

In my opinion, nothing smells better in summer than coconut. Plus coconut has amazing healing properties that can tackle skin and hair that’s had waaay too many kisses from the summer sun. Lush, the quintessential bath and body store, carries some of my favorite coconut scented/coconut infused products that keep summer fresh and fun, even at the end of the season. Here are four terrific picks Lush sent the BIZ that feature wonderful coconutty goodness.

Lush

Lush Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Eaze Hair Treatment

if only you could also smell this…

My Lush coconut adventure starts with extra virgin coconut oil to tackle my summer sun-wind-water damaged dry and frizzy hair. Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Eaze Hair Treatment ($22.95) is a special treat that leaves my locks soft, sleek, and shiny. The ingredients include organic jojoba, almond, Brazil nut and extra virgin coconut oil. This is definitely for people who LOVE scented hair products. The fantastic jasmine scent truly lasts, I can even smell it three days after a treatment. This conditioning treatment works for every type of hair from extremely coarse to baby fine. I put it on dry hair the night before I need to wash it, letting it soak in overnight. In the morning I wash it out for hair that smells as good as it looks.

Almond

Lush Almond & Coconut Smoothie

one word:  YUM!!

Next, I nourish my beach-weary skin with a tropical coconutty shower smoothie. The Almond & Coconut Shower Smoothie ($21.95) has almond and coconut oils to cleanse and moisturize and the jasmine, ylang ylang, and vanilla scent is to die for. This is not a typical lathering soap – it cleanses, but without foaminess. While no foam seems strange at first, it makes sense – after all, this is a shower smoothie, not a bar soap or gel. It leaves skin super moisturized and smelling like a soft summer evening. The texture is a thick, non-sticky marshmallow fluff, and it is an absolutely awesome shaving cream. After my shower I can even skip body lotion because my skin is so hydrated.

some coconutty tips

Coconut

it’s a very versatile powder!

Summer in Michigan means hot and humid days, so I need something coconutty to keep me dry and cool. The answer is Lush’s Coconut Deodorant Powder ($7.95). It’s made from powdered coconut milk, as well as creamed and desiccated coconut and coconut oil. Excess moisture is absorbed by the tapioca, cornstarch, and natural magnesium carbonate. I love how it is a powder but in a lotion bottle – kind of freaky but very cool. I use it specifically for underarms but I also find it’s a terrific body powder that keeps me cool and dry all over. I sprinkle it into shoes to deodorize them and keep feet smelling fantastic. I put it in my gym bag to freshen it up, I’ve used it as a dry shampoo, and I always sprinkle it on my sheets when I change my bedding. I keep finding new ways to use this fantastic smelling coconut powder.

Perfume is the point!

Perfume is the point!

Furze

Furze is a favorite coconut fragrance

To finish off my coconut body adventure, I need some sweet-smelling perfume. My favorite scent in the Gorilla Perfumes is, of course, the one with coconut notes – Furze (0.3 fl.oz is $14.95). At first I thought ‘Furze’ referred to the fur on the gorillas but apparently there is a flowering furze bush that smells just delightful. This has a vanilla base with fresh coconut plus some green notes as well.  Somehow it manages to simultaneously smell of vanilla, coconut, cookies, and the beach. It’s a soft and cozy scent that perfectly finishes my Lush coconut experience.

If you love coconut as much as I do, Lush is the place to find summery treats that will make you happy. It’s where you want to go to get your coconut on.  - Lisa

Lavanila is la fantastic!

lavanila

Lavanila Vanilla Coconut

Do you have a favorite scent?  Mine is coconut.  I love how coconut transports me instantly to the beach, which is always where I most want to be.

One sniff of Lavanila Vanilla Coconut and I am here. With Joe.

One sniff of Lavanila Vanilla Coconut and I am here. With Joe.

I also love vanilla, which just so happens to make a very happy couple with coconut. Some of my favorite vanilla/coconut products come from Lavanila. Lavanila was founded by Danielle Raynor, who wanted to create healthy skin care and fragrances. She found the best vanilla in Madagascar, where the vanilla is called Lavanila. She named her company after that amazing vanilla, and has based all of her products around the vanilla scent.  I find the Vanilla Coconut scent to be smooth, creamy coconut that doesn’t smell synthetic, along with rich, warm vanilla.  Total yumminess.

Shower

Shower

The Healthy Body Wash 2 in 1 Shower and Shave ($14) is a great way to start the day.  This is a huge tube of liquid soap that truly smells divine.  Shower and Shave has coconut and rosehip oils to moisturize, along with aloe and calendula.  It lathers up beautifully and makes for quick and easy shaving.  It doesn’t have any sulfates so it leaves skin super soft and moisturized.  It seriously transports me and puts me a great mood every time I use it.

Body Butter

The Healthy Body Butter

The Healthy Body Butter ($10) has the addition of Tahitian Tiare Flower to the vanilla/coconut mix.  The lotion is subtly scented and pairs beautifully with other scents.  It has 100% pure shea and cocoa butters to moisturize, along with goji berry and Kakadu Plus for anti-oxidant power.  And check out the price – $10 for this big tube of lotion is awesome.

Body Butter

talk about thick!

This body butter is sooo thick and creamy, it really does seem almost buttery.  I thought it would take a little work to get it absorbed, but it soaks in beautifully and leaves my skin softly scented and super smooth.  I love how this is full of natural, organic ingredients without any synthetic preservatives or harsh chemicals.

Deoderant

The Healthy Deodorant

If you are looking for an all-natural deodorant, you need to check out The Healthy Deodorant ($18).  This is not an antiperspirant, so if you looking for sweat control you need something else.  This makes you smell good, and it does it without aluminum, parabens, propylene glycol, or chemicals.  What is does have are essential oils, anti-oxidants, and beta glucan technology.

Deoderant

looks as pretty as it smells

I find the Vanilla Coconut Deodorant smells of exotic coconut and soft tiare flower.  The deodorant has a warmer smell to it than the shower gel and body butter, it’s subtle and very pretty.  How wonderful to fight odor without the harsh chemicals that can burn and irritate your skin!

You can find Lavanila products online and at stores such as Sephora.  They have other vanilla-based scents including Pure Vanilla, Vanilla Grapefruit, Vanilla Blackberry, Vanilla Blossom, Vanilla Lavender, Vanilla Passion Fruit, and Vanilla Summer.  For now I am just enjoying the warm comfort of the Vanilla Coconut products, they bring me to the beach…and to Joe…with just one sniff.  – Lisa
