Summer Makeup Essentials with Pixi

Pixi Beauty and Pixi Skintreats Summer Essentials

samples

Welcome to August aka the dog days of summer. While I love my dog I have to say that August days can be a drag. We aren’t as excited about summer as before and the heat can get to us. We still want to look great but we don’t necessarily want or need to spend a long time on looking great. PIXI by Petra has chosen 4 products that they think are perfect for summer and helping you get a carefree look that’s fuss free.

Pixi Skintreats Makeup Fixing Mist

Pixi’s Makeup Fixing Mist is going to be the number one product that you’ll need this summer and into the fall. It’s a makeup setting mist that not only helps your cosmetics last longer but it’s a refreshing pick me up at any time that you feel you are drooping.

Pixi Skintreats Makeup Fixing Mist

This rose water and green tea infused formula comforts, protects and balances skin for a fresh face. You can spray it on your face or do what I do – spray it onto a big fluffy brush to set makeup to make it last longer. It’s very hydrating. I’m not someone that likes fragrance in products and this does contain fragrance but with the fluffy brush I notice it a lot less than if I spray it on. It’s terrific for cooling you down no matter the situation.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

One of my favorite Pixi Skintreat items is Nourishing Lip Polish. This is an exfoliating scrub that contains apricot & grapefruit oils. I need this all year long. First I’m a lip biter so I need to smooth out my lips because of that and second I get horribly chapped lips in winter and need to exfoliate even before a lip balm.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

It’s so easy that a mirror isn’t needed. This is a great protector for your lips that has a nutrient-rich formula smoothes lips with shea butter & a blend of sweet almond, apricot, and evening primrose oils. The exfoliating tip will massage your lips so they’ll look plumper.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish tip

Now onto Pixi Beauty and more products that are truly wonderful. Pixi Beauty has 5 MultiBalms that are 2-in-1 products for your cheeks and lips. As a dyed-in-the-wool cream blush lover these are right up my alley.

Pixi by Petra MultiBalm for Cheek & Lips

These make summer so easy since you can use it and look twice as nice. It’s a creamy product that’s not tacky, has no fragrance, and is infused with aloe vera, shea butter, and rose hip oil to protect.

Pixi by Petra MultiBalm for Cheek & Lips

There are 5 shades so there’s something for everyone. Pixi believes that Baby Petal is the easiest and most universal but I love them all.

Pixi by Petra MultiBalm for Cheek & Lips

Pixi MultiBalms: Bare Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry, Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose (brighter light)

At just $12 these are wonderful to have in a variety of colors.

One last product to add to your summer essentials list: Pixi by Petra Quick Fix Powder. This makes apply powder so easy, you don’t need any tools since it’s all in the container.

Pixi by Petra Quick Fix Powder

This translucent powder can be a setting powder or can be used on its own to give your skin an airbrushed look. Most powders are messy but not Quick Fix. The container holds it in and you use the puff to get the powder to release. When done, just close it up and you’ll have no spillage.

Pixi by Petra Quick Fix Powder

4 summer essentials from Pixi are really only the beginning of all that Pixi has to offer. But they are certainly ones you won’t want to be without. Pixi is affordable beauty. Be sure you sign up for their emails since they always have specials to help you get more for your money. And the fun of shopping at Target is only enhanced when you check out Pixi there. Do you have a favorite Pixi product?  —  Marcia

Au Naturale Organic Creme Blusher is the way to go au natural

Au Naturale is pretty popular and well-respected in the green world. And no wonder as its founder, Ashley Prange, has devoted herself to using ‘exclusively healthy, natural and ethically sourced ingredients to develop a replacement for each and every product in her beauty routine.”

au Naturale Organic Cream Blusher

I’ve been looking for an organic dusty pink cream blush to replace the non-organic ones I currently own. How fortunate that I was given au Naturale Sweetheart Organic Cream Blusher which although described as a soft, nude mauve, looks more like the dusty pink I wanted. The way the color shows will depend on your skin tone. For reference, I’m a MAC NW20- light skin with a pink undertone.

au Naturale Organic Cream Blusher in Sweetheart

I love that Sweetheart comes in a tube so there is no messing about with fingers in a jar or pot. I apply it straight from the tube onto my cheeks and blend with my fingers. You can also use a brush or Beauty Blender. I’m happy to report that not only is the color beautiful but it blends seamlessly and lasts well even on bare moisturized skin. Imagine that- all I need is some concealer and this blush and I’m good to go. For a more classic look, apply it on top of your foundation and watch your skin come alive.

Welcoming spring with Jane Iredale’s newest collection

jane iredale spring collection

The sun is finally shining and spring flowers are starting to pop up. While the BIZ team loves those signs of spring, an even greater sign is this collection from Jane Iredale that we were sent.

This Spring Color collection is aptly named Makeup on Nude and contains 2 peachy pink eyeshadow trios, 2 new Pure Moist lipsticks, a new cream blush stick, and a new Peaches & Cream Bronzer. Sounds and looks beautiful.jane iredale look

Jane Iredale’s philosophy is that cosmetics should be good for your skin and easy to apply. “Her goal is to make products that look good, feel good and are good for the skin.  Products must be easy to apply, as well, so that a woman can be her best in the shortest amount of time.” She achieved this in her latest collection. Thank you Jane!

When Lisa and I divided these up I grabbed the InTouch Cream Blush in Candid. Years ago I had this in Clarity and loved it. These blushes are small but mighty. They are perfect to take with you because they’ll fit in your purse/makeup bag without being bulky. The tube may be short but the top is perfect for application. This just glides on and smooths out easily. It’s not a tacky blush because it’s a cream to powder formula.

Candid is one of 5 shades and one I highly recommend for spring. It contains just the right amount of peach to make it spring perfect. My favorite cream blushes have always been from Jane Iredale and this is no exception. Most cream blushes aren’t in it for the long run but Candid In Touch Cream Blush sticks around. I love the color and I love that there’s no fragrance.

Mineral Quad Bronzer in Peaches & Cream isn’t a bronzer on me at all. Instead it’s a multi-use powder that will add a beautiful shine but no shimmer. I’ve used this all over by taking a fluffy brush or fan brush and sweeping it on my face to liven up all this winter paleness. I’ve even used it as eyeshadows since the colors individually are so beautiful.

When I sweep my brush evenly across the 4 shades I end up with a peach shade that isn’t orange on me. It lightens and brightens at the same time. I use this all over very lightly or I’ll concentrate on my cheekbones.

I’m all about eyeshadow but I saved it for last so that you can see the two trios that are just fabulous. I have PurePressed Eyeshadow Trio in Pink Quartz while Lisa will share the other new trio in Soft Kiss. You’ll fall for them both!

Jane Iredale PurePressed Eyeshadow Trio in Pink Quartz

Jane Iredale PurePressed Eyeshadow Trio in Pink Quartz

This is a little bit of heaven for me. They are exactly the colors I’ve been craving lately. I had put together a similar trio but it took me three different palettes to create it. My vanity was filled. Then I opened Pink Quartz and sighed. This single compact has everything I love. According to Jane Iredale it has matte light pink, shimmery soft pink and shimmery cool plum. To me and on me though I find it to be a matte very light pink, a shimmery peach, and a shimmery taupe that’s not too dark.

I’ve added the bronze shade in the Peaches & Cream Bronzer refill too for a little more definition. The shadows look powdery when I take a brush to them but they aren’t that way on my eyes at all. I have had no fallout but I have had full day coverage with an eyeshadow primer. The colors are beautiful, they last long, and they can be used wet or day. Plus they are vegan and cruelty free. I’m crazy about Pink Quartz!!jane iredale eyeshadows spring

LISA SHARES:

The Jane Iredale Spring 2017 Collection has super pretty shades that are definitely getting me in the mood for green trees and warm days.

Jane Iredale Soft Kiss Purepressed Eyeshadow Triple

Jane Iredale Soft Kiss Purepressed Eyeshadow Triple

Jane Iredale Soft Kiss Purepressed Eyeshadow Triple

My PurePressed Eyeshadow Triple is called Soft Kiss. The shades are a red based purple/mauve, slightly shimmery brownish taupe, and matte warm pink. I am very indecisive so putting together colors can be a real challenge for me. That’s why I love trios, and this one is a real winner. I use the lightest shade as an all over wash, the taupe shade in the crease, then the darkest shade also in the crease and down to line my upper lid. It makes for a very pretty, feminine eye, especially with deep black eyeliner and tons of mascara.

The eyeshadows are soft yet pigmented, and they don’t fade or crease on me. Nicely done, Jane Iredale!

Jane Iredale Pure Moist Lipstick in Lisa

The PureMoist Lipstick ($25) comes in a whopping 27 shades and the two new shades for spring are Lisa and Susan. This lipstick has a nice slip and a natural coverage – not too sheer and not too opaque. Even if you don’t normally wear lipstick I think you will like this one. The ingredients include natural oils and superfruit extracts, so lips feel very soft without any fragrance or taste.

Lisa is a creamy rose beige. Of course I love the name (!!) but I also love this shade, which is a fabulously neutral color that goes with everything. Lisa is one for the purse because you will find yourself reaching for this all-purpose lippie constantly no matter what time of day and what color your outfit.

Makeup Revolution The One Stick

makeup-revolution-one-sticks

Makeup Revolution The One Sticks are the newest revolution in town. These will add a vibrancy to your face that you won’t believe. Let’s see what $9 can get you from Ulta!

Makeup Revolution The One Stick

Makeup Revolution The One Stick

There are 4 different The One Sticks so picking out just one is going to be a challenge. Makeup Revolution thought of everything with these sticks. First is Contour and Perfect with its counterpart Highlight and Perfect. The two Blush Sticks are both matte shades that can be used on cheeks or lips: Matte Rush (coral) and Matte Malibu (tan). With all 4 of these ONE Sticks directions say to use them dry for Hi Intensity and wet for Smooth Sheer Finish. I don’t find them efficient wet. I can’t blend them properly if I try so all my comments are about using these dry.

Makeup Revolution The ONE Stick x4

Makeup Revolution The ONE Stick x4

THE ONE SCULPT CONTOUR STICK is meant to Contour and Perfect. This stick is a matte contour that goes on intensely when applied straight from the tube. On someone super fair (aka me) I dab it on and then blend with my fingers or a beauty sponge. The color appears to be a very dark brown without any orange tint to it. But once blended it is lighter and workable. For contouring purposes apply this down the sides of your nose and blend, then under the cheekbones or jawbone and blend. A contour brush is also a great tool for this particular stick.

Makeup Revolution The One Sculpt Contour Stick

THE ONE HIGHLIGHT CONTOUR STICK is made to highlight and perfect. This stick is the only one of the four that isn’t matte. It has some sparkle to it giving it the ability to illuminate what you want illuminated. It’s very creamy, much more so than the other sticks. When you see my pictures I hope you won’t gasp. I dropped mine and made a big mess trying to put it together. I still use it but it’s not a pretty sight.

Makeup Revolution the ONE Highlight Contour Stick

THE ONE BLUSH STICK in MATTE RUSH is a beautiful bright coral. I almost fell over the first time I used it because of the intensity of the color. But it is too pretty to ignore and I think it’s very flattering once blended properly. Some people may find that they need several strokes but if you are fair this covers beautifully in ONE. The key with these all is to blend, blend, blend. To wear as a lip product apply with a lip brush or your finger since the wideness of the top isn’t quite lip shape.

Makeup Revolution The ONE Blush Stick in Matte Rush

THE ONE BLUSH STICK in MATTE MALIBU is the warm tan companion. I have a lot of cream blushes but nothing in this shade. While it’s not one I’ll use often, it does come in handy for me. I think a darker skintone than mine would love using this.

Makeup Revolution The ONE Blush Stick in Matte Malibu

Now you’ll see what I mean about intensity. The following is one swipe but done heavily.

Contour, Highlight, Matte Rush blush, Matte Malibu blush

Contour, Highlight, Matte Rush blush, Matte Malibu blush

I’ve found so much from Makeup Revolution to buy. The brand is affordable and Ulta often has it on special – right now it’s BOGO 1/2 for the entire line so you could get 2 of these for just $13.50 or one and something else from them. If you are always complaining that cream products get eaten by your skin then The ONE Stick in any of the iterations are the ones for you to try. They glide on easily, blend wonderfully, and are creamy as can be. Which color would you pick?  —  Marcia

Pick just 5 products from Pixi Beauty? Ooh that’s hard.

It’s Marcia’s turn to be Queen for the Day with the Beauty Spotlight Team. We’ve each chosen a brand that we love to showcase for our readers. You’ve read Never Say Die Beauty’s Too Faced picks along with Justina’s Clinique favorites. Now that it’s my turn I’m picking Pixi Beauty because I wear something from Pixi every single day.pixi-favorites-all

Pixi Beauty is in a class of its own. It’s an independent beauty company that has reasonable mass market prices with department store quality. You can buy most of their line by going to your closest Target or by ordering online through Target.com or on Pixi’s website where you’ll find even more products from them.                                                                       press samples, personal products

Choosing just 5 was a chore since I easily could have chosen a dozen but I narrowed it down as I’m a rule follower. All of my choices are so reasonably priced that your wallet will barely weigh less after picking these up.

Pixi Beauty Summer Glow palette

Pixi Beauty Summer Glow palette

Pixi by Petra has many great palettes so why did I choose the Summer Glow palette (Palette Bronzette) when summer is coming to an end? Two reasons – 1) it’s a great quality palette with eye shades and face shades and 2) it’s being discontinued so I wanted you to get in on the fact that this $28 palette is now only $14 while it lasts. With 12 shadows and liners and 3 facial products this works all year round. “Gilded bronzes, taupes & peaches for eyes + matte bronze, golden beige highlight & pink sheen for complexion.” I have gotten more use out of this Bronzette Palette than any of my Pixi Palettes. Perfect for travel and at $14 you don’t want to miss out.

Pixi Beauty Brow Powder Palette

Pixi Beauty Brow Powder Palette

This brow palette is my most used item from Pixi and I’ll soon be buying a backup. I’ve tried so many brow products and liked most but I love the Pixi Brow Powder palette. As you can see from this recent picture there are two shades that get tons of love while the others get used once in a while but those two shades are perfection for me. It’s hard for me to believe that this 6 color palette is only $12. My hair color changes every 3-4 weeks so it’s easy for me to vary the color of these powders. They are thick enough to stick around, they aren’t powdery meaning no fallout, and this removes easily with water which means less hair to lose. If I had to pick just one item of the 5 this Pixi Brow Powder Palette would be my keeper.

Pixi Multibalms

Pixi Multibalms

Pixi Multibalms: top Baby Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry; bottom Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose

Pixi Multibalms: top Baby Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry; bottom Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose

Pixi Multibalms are my newest love from Pixi Beauty. (Be sure you enter my giveaway to win them!) I’m a huge fan of cream products and almost always pick a cream blush over a powder blush. I’ve been wearing one every day since I received these. There’s one for every color wardrobe and one for every mood. If you twist my arm to ask my favorites I’d pick Watermelon Veil and Wild Rose. At $12 each you can have several for the price of one from a different brand. The Multibalms are great for an easy on the go lip color too so you’ll look coordinated. These are infused with aloe vera, shea butter and rose hip oil adding to my love for these.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

Picking out just one lip product from the many wonderful ones that Pixi Beauty has was the hardest task of all. I love the shea butter lip balms, tinted brilliance balm crayons and Mattelustre lipsticks. But the product that gets used daily is the Nourishing Lip Polish. Another $12 product that is a 2-in-1 lip exfoliator and nourisher. Not only does it protect my dry lips but it has a circulation factor with the unique applicator. You massage the sweet nutrient rich formula onto your lips with the applicator. You’ll want one in every bathroom, your purse, and nightstand.

Pixi by Petra Nail Colours

Pixi by Petra Nail Colours

Nobody ever talks about Pixi’s Nail Colours and I don’t know why. They are terrific. They are 3 free and chip resistant. There are 42 shades for only $8 each. These slim bottles last for many manicures yet take up a small amount of space in my collection. Shown above are Gilded Garnet, Amethyst Amore, Fuchsia Dew and Sweet Strawberry. I’ve found some on sale at my local Target so I’m always checking for them. Like all products from Pixi they are cruelty-free. A Pixi polish is always a fun addition to my life.

While these are my favorites they are just at the top of a long list of products I recommend from Pixi Beauty. What about you? Any favorites from Pixi? Any you know you need to add ASAP?  —  Marcia

#yourmostbeautiful2016

Saturday, January 16th is one special day on QVC since it’s Beauty Day. The best part of Beauty Day for us is that it means a TSV for IT Cosmetics. And what a great TSV it is. Lisa and Marcia are thrilled to have received a sneak peek to share with you so you can see what special items are in IT COSMETICS NEW YEAR, YOUR MOST BEAUTIFUL SKIN COLLECTION, 6 piece set.

LISA is sharing CC+ Veil Cushion Compact Foundation and 2 brushes

IT Cosmetics stole my heart a long time ago and it continues to be one of my favorite cosmetics line. This set is really a fantastic value and so much fun!

IT Cosmetics New Year, Your Most Beautiful Skin foundation and brushes

IT Cosmetics CC+Veil Cushion Compact Foundation

IT Cosmetics CC+Veil Cushion Compact Foundation in Medium

IT Cosmetics CC Veil Foundation in Fair

IT Cosmetics CC Veil Foundation in Fair

The CC+ Veil Cushion Compact Foundation is a sponge-worthy foundation (for all you Seinfeld fans!) that has just about everything. It has a 50+ SPF, an anti-aging serum, a moisturizer, a primer, and a sheer to medium foundation, all in one. If you have oily skin you will still want to use a separate primer, but otherwise this is definitely a multi-tasker that will make you very happy.

IT Cosmetics CC+Veil Cushion Compact Foundation refill

IT Cosmetics CC+Veil Cushion Compact Foundation refill

The squishy sponge houses a creamy liquid foundation that goes on like gossamer, it’s so lightweight. The coverage is sheer but buildable, and what I really love about this set is it includes a refill! I’m not sure how long the sponge will last, but I’m glad to know that once I’ve used it up I have another one ready. My shade is medium, and it’s a neutral tone that is a little on the light side for a medium shade.

While the foundation comes with an application puff, I prefer the Heavenly Luxe Dual-Ended Complexion Perfection Brush. This brush is oh-so-soft, but it’s densely packed so it gives great control.  The large end is perfect for applying the Cushion Compact Foundation and the small end is great for those hard to cover areas like around the eyes and nose.

Angled Radiance Creme Brush

Angled Radiance Creme Brush

The other brush included in this set is the Angled Radiance Creme Brush. It has an angled edge that really hugs your cheekbones. The bristles are fabulous for cream blush application, blending the blush so naturally it creates a beautiful, glowy flush. I think my three products alone are worth the $59.96 price tag, but there are even more goodies included that Marcia has for review.

MARCIA is sharing Je Ne Sais Quoi! Lipstick and Creme Blush

Once you open this fabulous TSV you’ll find two Je Ne Sais Quoi products – one brand new and one revamped. Let me start with the revamped lipstick.

Just the other day when I wrote about Pantone 2016 Colors I showed you a picture of Je Ne Sais Quoi Blurred Lines Smooth Fill Lipstick. When I opened my new lipstick I found that the color wasn’t the same but the technology was. Originally the lipstick was almost clear and your body’s chemistry changed it to suit you. Now the lipstick is tinted pink and comes in a special iridescent white case. So pretty, so nourishing, full on color that has collagen and hyaluronic filling spheres to make your lips look your most beautiful ever.

Now to the exciting part for me (don’t get me wrong though, I adore the foundation too). A creme blush!!!! I am a creme blush fanatic so I was especially excited to find this in the QVC TSV. This too is named Je Ne Sais Quoi, officially IT COSMETICS CC+ VITALITY BRIGHTENING CREME BLUSH in JE NE SAIS QUOI. Call me thrilled.

IT Cosmetics CC+ Vitality Brightening Creme Blush in Je Ne Sais Quoi

IT Cosmetics CC+ Vitality Brightening Creme Blush in Je Ne Sais Quoi

The blush tries to trick you but you’ll be thrilled with its trickiness. It appears as a pink in the compact but when I swatched it I found it look very light. So light in fact that I worried that it wouldn’t show up. But like the lipstick it’s a color correcting anti-aging creme blush. It starts off light (see picture below) but then deepens on its own to a very natural pink. It never gets too deep on me but it’s not too light either. It’s, to quote Goldilocks, “just right”. The Angled Radiance Creme Brush described above is a great tool to smooth this onto your cheeks.

IT Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi swatches, top blush, bottom lipstick

If you add up the products in this TSV they’d cost you $214.00. But like all IT Cosmetics TSV’s the price is amazing at $59.96. The TSV number is A272018 for a one time buy and A276946 for auto delivery. Don’t miss out on this great deal and the opportunity to have your most beautiful skin ever.

Think Pink with Sleek Creme to Powder Blush

Think pink

Think pink

When I think pink I’m usually thinking blush or lip products. I do love a light pink eyeshadow though and hope to share one with you in this series. But today I have a blush from SLEEK MakeUP that pushes all the right buttons for me.

Sleek MakeUP Creme to Powder Blush

Sleek MakeUP Creme to Powder Blush

press sample

First button: Crème to Powder Blush! I love creme/cream blushes more than the average bear. If you give me a choice between cream and powder I’m going to pick cream.

Second button: Crème to Powder Blush again. I usually don’t believe companies when they call their cream blushes “cream to powder” but this Sleek MakeUP blush is actually what it says it is. The blush starts off as a cream with an intense shot of color but blends down to a light powdery effect. It’s dewy upon application but becomes a powder soon after blending.

Sleek Creme to Powder Blush in Amaryllis

Sleek Creme to Powder Blush in Amaryllis

Third button: this isn’t greasy or moist. It’s a dry cream yet it blends without a problem. With some creme blushes your finger can practically sink down getting lost in the cream. But Sleek’s version is on the firm side while still easy to apply. There’s no problem getting the pigment onto your finger (which I use) or brush.

Sleek Amaryllis Creme to Powder Blush

Fourth button is the price which is only $8.99 US. Even though Sleek MakeUP is a UK company, the prices are in US dollars and they ship quickly. Shipping is also free with a $35 order (I’ll have more reviews of Sleek MakeUP coming so it will be easy to find $35 worth of gorgeousness).

Sleek Amaryllis official swatch

Sleek Amaryllis official swatch

Fifth button is the color. While Sleek’s official swatch isn’t what I’ve found, I love how this looks on me. When I first apply it the color is as bright as my hand shows but then I blend with my finger and I end up with a bright yet subtle long lasting blush. I mostly wear neutral eyeshadows with lots of golds, browns, taupes and creams so you’d think I’d want a warmer blush – but I love the coolness of a pink blush on me. Sleek Crème to Powder blush is available in 6 shades (French Rose, Amaryllis, Gerbera, Carnation, Pink Peony and Crimson).

Sixth button is the ease of use. It’s recommended that you use your finger with this blush and that’s the way I use it. I blend with my finger or a sponge after. I try not to start with too much on my finger but if I do, it’s easy to blend down without starting over.

6 buttons + 6 shades + 1 reasonable price = a baker’s dozen of reasons you’ll like this as much as I do! — Marcia
