Color Me Monthly Pixie’s Parlour

Color Me Monthly has delighted me once again by sending me the April polish, Pixie’s Parlour. I love Color Me Monthly polishes and think they have a fabulous subscription program. Color Me Monthly Pixie’s Parlour

Pixie’s Parlour is their newest addition and it’s a beautiful purple with tiny multi-colored shimmer. It’s a polish that makes me smile just like the beautiful blooms that are just starting to pop up in the garden.

The name Pixie’s Parlour has a little story behind it. The color reminded the owner of something whimsical and she kept thinking of fairy dust. That didn’t feel like the right name so she dug into the history of fairies and found something called Pixie’s Parlour which is a cave that all pixies were banished to outside of East Devon, England. Voila she had the name and we have a polish that I’m happy to be banished into.

Like all Color Me Monthly polishes, this wore like a dream. I get a full week out of their polishes without a problem. I say that every time I get the opportunity to write about them because it’s true. My nail tech is always happy too when I walk in with CMM because she knows there will be no application problems and no staining.

Top Ten red nail polishes

Favorite red nail polishes #beautyinfozone

Favorite red nail polishes #beautyinfozone

It’s Top Ten Tuesday and we’re going red. Each blogger is picking their favorite red items so they could be anything. I’m all about red nails. I love red nail polish and wore it for years and years. I’d wear pink in the summer and red the rest of the year. I’ve expanded horizons but to me there’s nothing like a good red. If it’s metallic, that’s all the better.

In no particular order here are the reds I can wear again and again and never tire of. In the meantime my nail drawers are filled with more reds but I narrowed it down to:

butter LONDON, A-England, FACE Stockholm, Illamasqua, FABY

butter LONDON, A-England, FACE Stockholm, Illamasqua, FABY

1.  butter LONDON Knees Up – this metallic red speaks for itself. It lasts and lasts and shines the entire time. This is one of my very favorite butter LONDON polishes and it’s still available.

2.  a-england Perceval – this is called a ‘splendid and resplendent red’ by a-england and it’s definitely splendid. I am a big fan of a-england polishes and would own them all if I could. This deep ruby has a subtle shimmer that makes it perfect.

3.  FACE Stockholm 128 – This polish was in one of my Wantable subscription boxes and I’ve never been so happy to see a polish. 128 is the perfect red that is ultimately wearable. I love a cool red and this does the job.

4.  Illamasqua Scarab – I haven’t worn this polish in forever and in my mind it was redder than it shows on the wheel. Instead it’s a stunning deep burgundy with subtle shimmer that’s a touch metallic.

5.  FABY Lacquer in Hibiscus Bloom – A little known Italian brand that makes gorgeous polish. This beautiful red has some pink shimmer in it to make it even more special.

When you receive a color like this, you know it’s the right subscription service to belong to. This is currently available for $9 in their Vault and I highly recommend it.

7.  Zoya Lisa – I bought Lisa in one of Zoya’s sales and it was the best choice. I love the shimmer in this because it’s definitely there yet it’s subtle and easy to remove. It’s a cherry red which I especially love in the summer.

10.. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Red Eye – This is new to me and boy do I love it. I hated to buy the top coat too but now that I’ve had a chance to experience one of the polishes I’ll go back for more. On the Sally Hansen site there are so many beautiful shades of Miracle Gel.

My New Year’s Eve Manicure with KB Shimmer and Color Me Monthly

KBShimmer Rollin with the Chromies

KBShimmer Rollin with the Chromies

This is the manicure I’ve chosen to wear this weekend and through New Year’s Eve. KB Shimmer sells their polishes both on their website and through their Etsy shop. It’s $8.75 at both places. I have a story behind this polish and how I know it wears amazingly well.

KB Shimmer Rollin with the Chromies.

KB Shimmer Rollin with the Chromies.

KBShimmer’s Rollin with the Chromies is available through their Etsy shop although I originally bought this from their website. I had it applied over an Essie polish on August 15th; on August 18th I fell. Well that meant this polish was on my nails for 8 full weeks before I was back, wheelchair bound, to get my nails done again. The best part is that the entire time I was in the hospital and the rehab center I got compliments on the color. My nails were super long after 8 weeks but the color looked perfect.

Rollin with the Chromies

Rollin with the Chromies

Rollin with the Chromies is a linear holo without glitter. The shimmer in it is amazing. And the shift in color in different lights is even better. The polish changes from cyan, to blue, to red orange, to burgundy and more. KBShimmer says it’s best in 3 coats or 1 coat over black. I love it over a dark purple or dark blue.

I received Color Me Monthly Annapolis when I was in that awful rehab and couldn’t review it then. But I knew I’d want to wear it and when I decided that 8 weeks wasn’t enough of Rollin with the Chromies I instantly knew that this inky dark purple was the perfect base coat. This manicure is 1 coat of Color Me Monthly and 1 coat of KB Shimmer.

Color Me Monthly subscriptions are $7 a month but if you miss a beauty like Annapolis you can always check The Vault to see if it’s available – and it is for $9.

I know that come New Year’s Eve I’ll still have a perfect manicure with these two fab polishes. What are you wearing on December 31st to ring out the old? — Marcia

I’ve been a big fan of the nail subscription box COLOR ME MONTHLY for exactly 2 years now. This unique company creates one special polish a month and keeps getting better and better. For November they produced an absolutely gorgeous shade called ROASTED CHESTNUTS. I don’t think that they could have improved on this at all.

Color Me Monthly, Roasted Chestnuts

Color Me Monthly, Roasted Chestnuts

ROASTED CHESTNUTS is a brown with embedded colored glitter. It absolutely shined on my nails. In bright light the colors glistened calling for people to come and take a gander. We had a week without sun yet even that couldn’t hinder how much I enjoyed wearing this polish. What could be better for November than roasted chestnuts, a glorious shade?

COLOR ME MONTHLY keeps up with the seasons and times of year by sending a color that’s appropriate for then. But you’ll want to wear the shades over and over. Of all the polishes I’ve received from them, there is only one that I haven’t worn a second (or even third) time. The others just call my name.

I normally keep away from polishes with glitter since they are so difficult to remove. I have a wrap done on my nails to keep them strong and the removal process with glitter destroys the glue. NOT the case with Color Me Monthly’s Roasted Chestnut. This came off (after one week) as easily as any cream polish I’ve used. There was no staining and the only place that needed a little extra removal was where the wrap was old at the base of my nail. I was so happy to see that but I should have known since I’ve found the quality of these polishes to be superb.

Color Me Monthly captures October exactly

The colors of fall are so interesting especially if you live in a state with a changing climate. In Michigan we are lucky enough to have a true fall and the color changes are magnificent. Colors are more vibrant than ever as the trees lose their chlorophyll. While it’s sad for me personally that winter is coming, I love seeing what Mother Nature has provided for us to enjoy.

Color Me Monthly has created a shade for October’s monthly subscription that is spot on for this season. The shade they sent for review is named Pennywise and it’s one of the most beautiful copper tones I’ve seen. While it’s based on the copper of a brand new shiny penny, it is so reminiscent of fall that people can’t help but notice and admire it.
