Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask – muddy goodness

I use this mask in two ways:

  1.  Prevention:  It’s a great weekly treatment.  It keeps my skin clear and bright, and it helps make my nose less ‘shiny’ in general.  Because it’s a mud mask, it pulls out the bad oils and dirt, but it’s not drying.  It has Vitamin C and Aloe Vera as ingredients, so it gets rid of the bad stuff without removing essential moisture.  If you have very oily skin, this is a fabulous treatment that is gentle enough to use even twice a week.  It does make pores look smaller and helps to keep the blackheads away.
  2. Emergency 911:  This mask is also a fantastic spot treatment.  With my wonky hormones (someone up there has a HUGE sense of humor about women in their 40’s) my skin  just goes postal sometimes for no apparent reason.  I want to avoid being that weird chick with wrinkles AND zits, so when I feel something cropping up I put a thin layer of this mask over the area and then go to bed.  When I wake up in the morning, the problem is almost always averted.  The Aloe Vera and chamomile act as an anti-inflammatory, so even sore red areas are calmed and soothed.

As a regular face mask, put on a nice, thick layer after washing your face, then leave it on for 20-30 minutes.  After it dries, gently wipe it off with a warm washcloth, then splash your face with cold water to close those pores back up.   It doesn’t burn like some mud masks do, and it wipes off easily.  I’ve had mud masks that adhered so tenaciously I had to practically carve it off, which just isn’t good for delicate tissue and only irritates your skin.

But if you want the best possible results, I recommend first washing with the Mud Soap then using a facial exfoliator.  I do those two things in the shower, then I apply the mask after showering when my pores are open and more receptive to all the good ingredients in the mask.

One more great thing worth noting about this mask is that it comes in a squeeze tube.  I have had so many mud masks in jars that dried out before I could use it all up.  The packaging for the Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask is just great, making application easier (and less messy!) and it really does increase the life of the product.   Plus it’s more sanitary.  Gotta love it.

Getting a free Mud Soap with your Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask at Cleopatra’s Choice is a great deal, I highly recommend venturing to the site and taking advantage of it!  – Lisa

Cleopatra’s Choice Shea Butter review and a giveaway

When I first received this huge tub of pure shea butter from Cleopatra’s Choice I was a bit stymied. What do I do with it? It looked like something I should be cooking with actually. What I learned though is that it is 100% Organic Pure Shea Butter  from Africa. I’ve ordered products with shea butter before but never realized that for a low price I could use the original and skip the middleman.

Cleopatra’s Choice 100% Pure African Shea Butter

The official name is “Cleopatra’s Choice Shea Butter 100% Organic from Africa- Yellow Color, Grade A” and this baby is 1 solid pound. What makes this particular shea butter so wonderful is that it’s created by Fair Trade, Sustainable Farming. The more you read, the more you should know about sustainable farming and fishing. Yes it will make you feel guilty for most of the things you eat but it will also make you much more aware of how we need to treat our earth’s resources. OK, enough politics, on to the product.

Cleopatra’s Choice Shea Butter  is imported from Ghana Africa. It contains Vitamins A, E and F. This highly concentrated product is wonderful for everyone in your family from baby to grandparents. It restores moisture to wrinkled skin, soothes sun parched skin, helps minimize scars and stretch marks and is even safe enough for diaper rash. It’s also a wonderful product for your hair. If you have dull, damaged hair apply just a little bit of this as an overnight leave in conditioner and you’ll be amazed at how restored your hair will look when you wash it the next day. To make it even better, it has antiseptic uses and can be safely used on burns and scrapes.

In the winter Shea Butter moisturizes away the flakies while in the summer this same product gives your skin a softness that makes you look so touchable. It’s great to slather on right after a bath or shower when your skin is ready to absorb it. The best way to use it is to take a cosmetic spatula and scoop out a small amount, put it between your fingers and warm it up. That way it spreads better. It doesn’t absorb instantly, no real shea butter item ever does. There’s also a fragrance to it which is why I prefer to use it on my legs or feet. It’s not a super strong fragrance but it is noticeable for a while.

What’s so incredible is the price of this – 1 pound for only $9.95. You’ll be amazed at the amount of uses you’ll get out of this $10 bargain.  This cruelty free product has a long ingredient list: 100% Pure, Unprocessed Fair Trade Shea Butter. That’s it. That’s all.  — Marcia

Summer skin issues solved with Adovia Bath Salts and Mud Soap

Warmer weather brings motivation – motivation to get up off my butt and do some exercise.  However, while I am sitting on my couch obsessively watching the Food Network, it’s easy to justify inactivity to avoid the inevitable sore muscles and blemishes that always seem to follow warm weather work outs.  Thankfully, I have discovered two products from the Cleopatra’s Choice website that turn those two negatives into non-issues.

Adovia Bath Salts

I just love the Adovia Bath Salts ($7.99 for a 2 lb. jar).  There’s no question this comes from the Dead Sea, it even comes with a certificate of authenticity.   Dead Sea Salts are well known for their healing properties, and these certainly deliver.  The salts are different from others I have tried – they dissolve very quickly and completely.  The salts make your skin extremely soft, and even work for eczema and psoriasis.  In fact, if you are itchy I can pretty much guarantee a quick soak will cure that right away.  The salts definitely help unknot tense and sore muscles, and they can even help with arthritis and fibromyalgia.  After beating myself up with weights and power walking, I reward and pamper myself with a half hour soak in these salts.

Inside Adovia Bath Salts

To keep my skin clear of blemishes, I like to use Adovia Dead Sea Mud Soap ($8.95).

Adovia Dead Sea Mud Soap

It’s great for the face and the body (nothing worse than back zits, ugh!)  Like the bath salts, this soap is good for treating eczema and psoriasis as well.  I find that it’s gentle but effective, it really cleans away dirt and grime but it doesn’t leave my skin feeling super tight and dry.  It’s especially great for those of you with extremely oily skin.  In fact, my teenage son keeps stealing this from me because it’s so good at clearing up break outs.

I really don’t have any good excuses now for not working out, so I’m much better about getting my lazy buns off the couch and into the great outdoors.  You can find these two products and many more cool items at Cleopatra’s Choice online.  – Lisa
