Vadae Everyday Makeup Kit brushes and cleaner

Vadae Everyday Makeup Kit brushes and cleaner

As a dedicated and devout cosmetic junkie, I need/want/desire quality tools in my life. VADAE Beauty has created several brushes and kits to solve that problem. The kit I was sent is the Everyday Makeup Kit which contains 8 brushes and the amazing VADAE pro brush cleaner. It arrives in a see through plastic pouch to store your brushes and to take them with you wherever you go. This post is going to be picture heavy so you can see for yourself just how nice the brushes in this kit are!

V403 – Jumbo Powder

Vadae V403 - Jumbo Powder

Vadae V403 – Jumbo Powder

“Create a beautiful finish with this dome-shaped powder makeup brush. Ideal for applying loose powder on the face.” My assessment – this is soft and does the exact job it’s meant to do. Be sure to tap off the excess and then use the brush to buff loose powder to your face to set your makeup.

V406 – Large Angled Blush

V406 - Large Angled Blush from Vadae

V406 – Large Angled Blush from Vadae

“This angle-shaped makeup brush is ideal for contouring cheeks and cheekbones.”  My assessment – I love how soft this is and I wish I could have kept it pristine like this but I just have to use this. It’s a little larger than I like for a blush brush but it has so many uses since I can use it for powder, bronzer, highlighting powders and an all over blending brush for my cheeks.

V407 – Duo Fiber Face

VADAE V407 - Duo Fiber Face

VADAE V407 – Duo Fiber Face

“Use this makeup brush to give a nice even distribution of product. The combination of goat hair and synthetic bristles give an airbrushed finish look.” My assessment – I love a duo fiber (skunk brush) and get a lot of use out of this brush. It’s perfect for highly pigmented powders on my face. I like it to brush a light coating of a highlighting powder since it gives it a diffused look.

V408 – Deluxe Foundation

Vadae V408 - Deluxe Foundation

Vadae V408 – Deluxe Foundation

“The layered, tapered bristles of the Deluxe Foundation makeup brush help your makeup blend into a flawless finish. The large head makes application quick and easy to apply over the entire face.”  My assessment – this is a great foundation brush. It’s soft and never scratches, it makes liquid and cream foundations look flawless.

V409 – Tapered Concealer

Vadae V409 - Tapered Concealer

Vadae V409 – Tapered Concealer

“This small concealer makeup brush is perfect for applying and blending concealer under eyes or for small area coverage.”  My assessment – they got it right when they described this as being great for small area coverage. The best use for me with this concealer brush is to get up close to my eyelashes and to use this in the inner corner of my eye.

V307 – Eye Shader

Vadae V307 - Eye Shader

Vadae V307 – Eye Shader

“Used for applying cream eyeshadows, this medium-sized makeup brush allows for quick application and blending on the eyelid. It can be used with creams as well as loose and pressed powders.”  My assessment – I didn’t even realize this was meant for cream shadows until I started writing the review so I instantly used it that way and it’s great. I like using this for my everyday powder shadows and it’s actually my favorite brush in the kit that way.

V310 – Angle Shadow

Vadae V310 - Angle Shadow

Vadae V310 – Angle Shadow

“The angled tip of the Angle Shadow makeup brush easily sweeps color over your eye lid. Work color onto your brow and under the orbital bone.” My assessment – I use this angled eyeshadow brush for my browbone area. It fits in perfectly and is big enough to cover that whole area. Later I use it to blend the light brow shade with my crease color to remove harsh lines.

V101 – Lip Definer

Vadae V101 - Lip Definer

Vadae V101 – Lip Definer

“The rounded edge of the Lip Definer makeup brush allows for controlled application along the lip line while the flat side is ideal for filling in. It features flexible fibers and may be used to blend lip pencils, lip gloss, or lipsticks with ease to create definition or modify lip shape.”  My assessment – I like a firmer and slightly larger brush for lipstick when I decide to use a brush. The way I’ve been using this a lot though is to soften the line that my lipliner makes after my lipstick is applied. It blends the liner into the lipstick without having that obvious liner look that is so passe.

Vadae VBS200 - Pro Brush Cleaner

Vadae VBS200 – Pro Brush Cleaner

“One 40 gram professional makeup brush cleaner with brush scrubbing compact and storage bag.”  My assessment – WOW!!! Lisa reviewed this before and I was curious but until I actually started using this I didn’t know what I was missing. This works great for all brushes but it’s perfect for brushes you use with cream products especially. It gets out gunk I thought was long gone yet keeps my brushes (from any brand) in perfect shape.

This kit is a great way to either start your brush collection or add to it. There’s one brush I’d add which is the V302 – Blending Fluff

Vadae V302 Blending Fluff

Vadae V302 Blending Fluff

The Blending Fluff makeup brush will blend harsh lines of color into soft fading gradients. The natural goat hair bristles help apply pigment with ease for beautiful results.” I love this kind of brush and think all collections should have a blending brush like this.

For $98 ($110 if you add the Blending Fluff) you’ll be complete for your cosmetic needs. A little bit of everything and the best brush cleaner I’ve tried. What brushes are necessities for you? What brush cleaner do you use? — Marcia

Senna Cosmetics brushes are the way to go

Senna Cosmetics brushes I love

Senna Cosmetics brushes I love

I have a few things I have to get off my shoulders. I hope you are ready.

* I love cosmetics!

* I adore cosmetic brushes!

* Senna Cosmetics is one of my all time favorite brands.

That wasn’t too bad for either of us I hope. Earlier today I reviewed some of Senna’s cosmetics including their In the Mood for Nudes collection, Slipcover Foundation, HD Eye Lift and Baja Matte Bronzer. That Makeup Wars review was so long it spilled over into this one that’s specifically about the Senna brushes I have. I’ve owned 4 of these for years and I was lucky to receive 5 more from Senna.

Senna Cosmetics

Senna Cosmetics

Airbrush Blender brush 25 ($40) is what people call a skunk brush. It’s black bottom fibers are dense while it fills out into looser white fibers that do the work. This is a brush you need in your collection if you don’t have one already. It’s a multi-tasker that works great for bronzer and highly pigmented powders. I use it too for a highlighting powder to give an airbrush appearance. “Softly shagged dual synthetic and natural hair and dual length brush seamlessly applies and blends liquid, cream and powder foundations and bronzers.”

Airbrush Blender brush 25

Senna Airbrush Blender brush 25

Foundation 39 Brush ($30) is a brush that everyone needs to have in their brush collection. It’s possible to apply foundation with your fingers but you don’t always get the ideal coverage that way. This brush is both soft and firm. The tapered point helps you in the crevices of your face, especially around your nose. It works equally well with liquid and cream formulas but it’s a necessity for a cream since your fingers just won’t cut it with something like Slipcover Foundation. If this isn’t enough to convince you, use it with moisturizer, primer or cream blush. See all the uses!!

Senna Foundation 39 Brush

Senna Foundation 39 Brush

Multi 24 Brush ($20) is one I didn’t know I was missing in my life until it came my way. I love this little guy. “This is the go-to tool for concealing, blending, un-smudging, priming and more.” What a treasure. You can use this at home or on the go. Just use it!! You’ll thank me.

Senna Multi 24 Brush

Senna Multi 24 Brush

Angle Brush 506 ($20) is a great blush brush that I’ve had for years. It’s so soft and so accurate. “Rounded front angle covers the apples of the cheeks and narrow tapered end softly blends color off the edge of the cheek naturally.”

Senna Angle Brush 506

Senna Angle Brush 506

Baby Face 21 ($30) has been a favorite of mine for so long. I use it for everything. The size of the brush head is wonderful for blending anywhere on your face. It’s great for a pop of color on your cheeks, for a touch of powder (Senna HD Eye Lift) under your eyes, and for highlighting areas especially when contouring. “A Senna favorite and must have! An ultra-soft, pampering brush to apply loose powder in eye area to set concealers and brush on highlighter powders. Great for spot blushing and dusting color onto eyelids.”

Senna Baby Face 21

Concealer 12 ($18) is a synthetic cruelty free brush that does what it’s supposed to – it helps conceal! It’s on the firm side so that you can lay your concealer down and afterwards blend with it.

Senna Concealer 12

Senna Concealer 12

Deluxe Fluff 600 ($18.50) is a brush I use mostly for blending. It’s wide and soft. It’s very flexible. I’ve used it for an all over eyeshadow color but my favorite use is when my eyeshadows are all on and I use this to blend away the seams so my shadows are well blended.

Senna Deluxe Fluff 600

Senna Deluxe Fluff 600

Detailer 623 ($27) this is one of the first brushes ever created for Senna. It was designed to give a soft liner look. I find it works better for me to use it for a hint of color under my lower lashes. It can also be used on your brows or to apply lipstick precisely.

Senna Detailer 623

Senna Detailer 623

Brow Pro 40 ($20) is a double ended brush that meets all your brow needs. The firm angle tip on the brush side is great for precise work with powders. I like that it’s not bigger than my brows so that I control it, it doesn’t control me. And it doesn’t hurt like some brow brushes can. The other side is a spoolie (groomer comb) so that you can brush your brows both before and after makeup application. Use it first to tame your brows and get them into shape. Then use it after with a pomade to set your brows for an all day last.

Senna Brow Pro 40

Senna Brow Pro 40

These are only a fraction of the wonderful brushes from Senna. Out of these 9 brushes my must haves are the Brow Pro, Multi-Brush and Baby Face. These are unique and incredibly helpful. Which brushes would you pick? — Marcia

Makeup Wars starring Senna Cosmetics

Senna Cosmetics Nude Eyes, eyebrows, bronzer and cream foundation

Senna Cosmetics Nude Eyes, eyebrows, bronzer and cream foundation

This week the Makeup Wars bloggers each picked a favorite high end brand to share and maybe even convince you that their brand is the best. I chose Senna and the lovely ladies at Senna Cosmetics were kind enough to share some of the latest items. Lisa and I have reviewed a lot of Senna over the 5 years of our blog for several reasons.

1) We’ve been charmed by Senna for a dozen years. We started using it way before we began blogging. One of our biggest thrills was to meet and talk with Eugenia Weston at IMATS and have her personally recommend items for us.

2) Senna is an indie company owned by Eugenia Weston. She actually creates the products and doesn’t just put her name on something she’s bought.

3) Senna is cruelty free. Plus Senna Cosmetics are reasonably priced compared to so many of the higher end companies.

Senna matte nude eyeshadows

Senna matte nude eyeshadows

I’m going to share some of Senna Cosmetics newest products as well as long time favorites. For spring Senna is all about nude shades with their In the Mood for Nudes collection. The 5 main items in this collection are 4 matte eyeshadows and their Baja Matte Bronzer.

The Nude Matte eyeshadows are available in 4 shades. The difference in 3 of the shades is the undertone of them. All 3 of these are beautiful nudes to wear over your entire eye or in strategic places. What I love best about these is that my favorite under the brow shade was discontinued a few years ago and I’ve never found a replacement until now. It thrills me to have these 3 and these are getting daily use.

Senna Blend matte eyeshadow

Senna Blend matte eyeshadow

BLEND is the most neutral and is considered a neutral skin tone shade.

Senna Moonlight matte eyeshadow

Senna Moonlight matte eyeshadow

MOONLIGHT is a warm beige, it’s ivory on me with warmer slightly peach undertones.

Senna Essence matte eyeshadow

ESSENCE is a creamy pastel peach.

Senna Nudist matte eyeshadow

NUDIST is a neutral brown that’s great for lids or crease.

Blend, Moonlight, Essence and Nudist

Blend, Moonlight, Essence and Nudist

Using these gives you a beautiful neutral eye or you can add in a darker shade for more definition or glitz. While these are matte eyeshadows they apply like a satin, they don’t look chalky, they just look smooth.

Whatever you do, don’t ignore your eyebrows. If anyone knows eyebrows it’s Senna since Eugenia Weston created one of the first and most famous eyebrow kits, the Form-A-Brow Kit. I have both a Brow Gel and a Brow Shaper Duo in use.

Senna Brow Fix, Brow Shaper Duo and Brow Pro 40

Brow Fix in Golden Brown

Brow Fix in Golden Brown

Senna Brow Fix in Golden Brown

Senna Brow Fix in Golden Brown

SENNA BROW FIX is available in 3 shades (clear, golden brown, taupe) to set your brow shape, color your brows and control them. It has tiny texturizing fibers in it to make your brows look fuller. If you have full enough brows then use this to set them and add a little more color. Or if you are like me, then use them over a pencil or brow powder to lock in the color and shape.

Senna Brow Duo in Brunette

Senna Shaping Brow Duo in Brunette

Senna Brow Shaping Duo in Brunette

Senna Brow Shaping Duo in Brunette

The Brow Shaping Duo also comes in 3 shades (Blonde, Brunette, Ebony) and is my preference. I’ve lost a lot of hair in my brows since my fall and I need the fullness and coverage this provides. The powder side is a micro fiber infused pressed powder and the pomade is a conditioning one. Brunette is a great match for me. My modus operandi is to apply the powder with the Brow Pro 40 brush, then apply the pomade over it. The combination of the two products intensifies the color as well as sets it in place. My brows last the entire day with this.

Senna Slipcover foundation in Buff with Foundation 39 and Multi 24 brushes

Senna Slipcover foundation in Buff with Foundation 39 and Multi 24 brushes

Senna Slipcover in Buff

Senna Slipcover in Buff

I raved before about Senna foundation since Lasting Illusion Foundation in Alabaster is one of my very favorite liquid foundations. Along comes Slipcover Foundation and it’s right up there with the best. Slipcover is a cream to powder foundation that comes in an amazing 18 different shades plus 3 duos if you change shades in different seasons or if you want to do some contouring. This oil free foundation applies like a dream with a foundation brush like Senna’s Foundation 39 or the wonderful Multi 24 brush. It then transforms into a semi-matte powder. So it’s one and done. I don’t need to set with a powder but it doesn’t look like a powder finish. It stays flawless and looks good all day on me. I love that Buff (porcelain) is so light and a color that blends perfectly on my skin.

Senna HD Eye Lift with Deluxe Fluff 600, Concealer 12 and Baby Face 21 brushes

Senna HD Eye Lift with Deluxe Fluff 600, Concealer 12 and Baby Face 21 brushes

Now that we have our eyes done, what about under our eyes? That’s where Senna’s HD Eye Lift comes into play. This used to be called Mineral Eye Lift which I’ve used before down to the pan. It’s been revamped and it’s still as great as ever. Now it contains HD light diffusing mineral pigments that help brighten your under eye area. It’s a subtle lift that helps brighten under eye darkness, set your concealer and it can also highlight any areas of your face. It contains Golden Seaweed to help stimulate collagen repair while you are wearing it. Call me sold.

Senna Baja Bronzer with Airbrush Face 24 and Angle Blush 506

Senna Baja Bronzer with Airbrush Face 24 and Angle Blush 506

Senna Baja Matte Bronzer swatch

Senna Baja Matte Bronzer swatch

Senna’s Baja Matte Bronzer is a sheer bronzer which is especially good for people who are very fair toned. It’s neutral enough that it will look good on most skin tones. I’ve used it half a dozen times and it’s never turned orangey on me. It’s recommended to use a powder brush with it but depending on how much color I want I prefer my Angled Blush brush or my Airbrush Face brush. This contains light-reflecting pigments which are said to diminish the look of imperfections. If I can wear this comfortably than anyone can! I love that there’s no sparkle in it.

I’m sure you can tell why Senna was my choice as soon as Makeup Wars decided on this topic. It’s a wonderful cruelty free, independent line created by a strong woman who is famous for being one of the top makeup artists in the world. I’m proud to share Senna Cosmetics with you. Because this review is so long, I’m continuing it later today to share some more products. — Marcia

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue wants to help you rethink your makeup

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and Smoothing Face Brush

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and Smoothing Face Brush

Bare Minerals has decided to change what we use on our face in place of foundation. They’ve created COMPLEXION RESCUE which is a Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. It’s a little bit tinted moisturizer, a little bit BB Cream and a little CC Cream. They’ve all come together to create something new and unique and fabulous. While these are press samples, I’d buy Complexion Rescue again when I use up this tube.bare minerals foundation colorsCOMPLEXION RESCUE ($29) is available in 10 shades. They have a shade finder to help you select the shade that’s going to be best for you. I chose Opal and it’s perfect for me. It’s rare that I can find a foundation that is light enough but doesn’t look ghostly.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in Opal

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in Opal

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in Opal

The first time I wore Complexion Rescue I wondered if it was for me. The coverage was so light that I worried that throughout the day my redness and uneven skintone would bleed through. I was wrong and I’ve enjoyed this more and more as I’ve had the opportunity to wear it the last few weeks.

There’s so much to know about Complexion Rescue and the Bare Minerals website does a great job of explaining it all but here’s a quick recap-

* this is a fragrance-free gel that contains mineral based broad spectrum SPF30

* Complexion Rescue contains Mineral Electrolyte Complex to help revitalize your skin

* the ingredients are excellent humectants to make sure you get the hydration you need (olive derived squalene, marine botanicals, trehalose and glycerin)

* Heart leaf globe daisy helps protect against the environment

While you can use your fingers I really recommend using a brush like the Bare Minerals Smoothing Face Brush ($28). This is a new brush created by Bare Minerals to work wonders with this gel cream. It has synthetic dual fibers which give an airbrushed look to your application.

Bare Minerals Smoothing Face Brush

Bare Minerals Smoothing Face Brush

Bare Minerals Smoothing Face Brush

Bare Minerals Smoothing Face Brush

You will need so little of the Complexion Rescue when you use this tool or a similar one that your BB/CC/TM will last you so much longer.

If you are looking for a light, radiant foundation then set your eyes on Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. It’s not for those who feel they need full coverage though. I’d recommend using a lightweight concealer prior to application to cover redness or undereye circles, use a wonderful brush like the Smoothing Face Brush and notice how much you like it more day after day. Have you tried this new mineral based formula? Do you like it as much as I do? — Marcia

From Bare Minerals: “Formulated without oil, silicone, parabens or fragrance to maintain the integrity of the skin–loving formula, Complexion Rescue combines marine botanicals and hydrating humectants to help refuel thirsty skin, energizing mineral electrolytes to help enhance skin’s appearance, and a skin–protecting antioxidant that acts as skin’s bodyguard to help defend against environmental stressors. A non–chemical, mineral–based, broad spectrum SPF 30 provides superior protection against damaging UV rays.”

Getting in a new year groove with the January Glossybox

Glossybox 2015 January 3Better late than never!  The Glossybox for January 2015 is a great collection of full size and travel size skin care and cosmetics. It actually isn’t too late, you can still order the January box, thank goodness. A three-month subscription is $60, and the January Glossybox alone has over $70 worth of products. Here is what was in the box they sent to us:

Glossybox 2015 January

There are two sample items. The Vichy Purete Thermale 3-in-1 One Step Cleanser is a deluxe size, 1 oz.  This was actually voted the best cleanser in Allure’s Best of Beauty, so I am anxious to try it out.  No question this is going in my travel bag, stat!  There is also a small sample size of Skin & Co Roma Truffle Therapy Serum.  The sample is 0.17 oz, which is a wonderful way to try out this $80 serum.  I tried it last night and this morning, hoping I wouldn’t like it because I have so many serums right now…but it felt pretty awesome. Rats.

Glossybox 2015 January 4

The Kueshi Pure & Clean Revitalizing Face Toner is full size and this is a new line for me. Kueshi is a Spanish line, and this toner gets great reviews. The toner has aloe in it, so it is very gentle and healing.

Glossybox 2015 January 2

Another new line for me is Lollipops. The Eye Pencil in Goodbye Moon is just darling, love the packaging! This is a retractable eyeliner that goes on smooth and has great lasting power. Goodbye Moon is a black with a slight metallic finish. Definitely a keeper!

Glossybox 2015 January 5

The star of the January 2015 Glossybox is the Teez Trendy Cosmetics Beautiful Flat Stiff Brush. This is a wonderful eyeshadow brush! I love it for packing on color, and it also blends and smudges beautifully. Just check out that super cute handle.  Yes, it’s trendy, but it’s also just a great brush that I am happy to have in my collection.

I love Glossybox because it really is a tremendous value, plus I love the introduction to new and niche lines.  If you haven’t subscribed yet, the January Glossybox is a great way to begin.

IT Cosmetics Your Most Radiant You! Collection review

It Cosmetics Your Most Radiant You

Do you have Tuesday, October 14th on your calendar?  At midnight on the 14th, the IT Cosmetics Your Most Radiant You! Five-Piece Collection goes on sale as the Today’s Special Value® on QVC®.  IT Cosmetics sent us this set, which is a mix of old favorites, including the Celebration Foundation Illumination, Heavenly Luxe® Double Airbrush Foundation Brush, and No-Tug Gel Eyeliner; plus two exciting new products, CC+ Radiance Ombré Blush and Hello Lashes Extensions.

IT Cosmetics Your Most Radiant You! 5 Piece Collection

1.  The Celebration Foundation Illumination is a full coverage powder foundation. It’s available in 5 color choices; my foundation is the Medium shade. It’s got some pretty cool packaging. The white compact has a lower compartment with a brush (and the reflective metal above it works as a mirror if you need it). The top compartment has the powder foundation and a regular mirror. This powder foundation has peptides, antioxidants, and ‘drops of light technology’ for the added illuminating properties. This is a very silky powder that is particularly excellent for those with oilier complexions. It is definitely full coverage, so a lighter hand is better when applying this.

2.  Heavenly Luxe® Double Airbrush Foundation Brush  IT Cosmetics has truly fabulous brushes, and the Heavenly Luxe Double Airbrush Foundation Brush is no exception. The brush head has dual fiber brush hairs that are amazingly soft yet firm enough for buffing. This really is a fantastic brush.

3.  No-Tug Gel Eyeliner in Black/Brown  The No-Tug gel liners are beautiful. They glide on and have terrific lasting power, even with my oily eyelids. I love the self-sharpening feature. If you want more of a point on the end, just pull off the sharpener on the bottom and you can easily get a point that will give you a thin, precise line.

Black Brown is just that – a browned-down black. I love this because sometimes Black seems too harsh for daytime. Black Brown gives me that dark definition I want, but it’s softer. And the black/brown combination is different from a grayed-down black. It’s warmer and just plain pretty. This is waterproof for up to 12 hours.

4.  The new CC+® Radiance Ombré Blush is currently only available in this set…and it is a stunner!! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. This has a softer, lighter texture than the IT Cosmetics Vitality Cheek Blush, which by the way is one of my most favorite blushes. The CC+® Radiance Ombré Blush is terrific for a soft glow or layered for more of a pigment punch. Je Ne Sais Quoi is a pretty gradated pink that goes from light pink to deep pink. You could drag your brush in the lighter or darker areas only, but I think a swirl over the entire face of the powder gives a perfect glowy pink pop for cheeks.

5.  The final item, also new for this collection, is the Hello Lashes® Extensions 24HR Mascara. This is a five-in-one mascara that makes lashes thick, lush, and sooty black. It is so black that I had to lighten the photo of the wand so you could see the brush head. It’s also good for lashes with conditioners like vitamin B5, peptides, collagen, proteins and green tea. This has nylon fibers that makes lashes incredibly long.

IT Cosmetics Your Most Radiant You collage

Your Most Radiant You! really is an incredible set.  Every item is a winner, so be sure to visit QVC on Tuesday to order this set for yourself.  The QVC item # is A260772, or A262259 for auto delivery.  – Lisa
