RoC Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Perfecting BB Cream is now available (plus we have a giveaway)

You all know about BB Creams. There’s no getting around them anymore. So many brands make them but they are not all created equal. RoC took a long time to come out with their version since they wanted it to be perfect, RoC is a skincare company after all and we are proud to be Roc Ambassadors. roc bb cream

RoC Multi-Correxion 5-in-1 Perfecting BB Cream uses the ingredients that are important to RoC. This anti-aging product has Broad Spectrum SPF 25 along with all the other ingredients that they are proud to use like RoC Retinol. The company wasn’t going to bring out a product that they couldn’t be proud to have their name on. Both Marcia and Lisa have used this product and are sharing their thoughts. Be sure to read to the end for a chance to be one of two winners of this great BB Cream.

MARCIA’S VIEWS:

I probably shouldn’t be the one that goes first on today’s Side by Side review since I have such mixed feelings about the Multi-Complexion BB Cream. I love it on one hand and am angry at it on the other hand.

Roc Multi-Corrextion 5-in-1 Perfecting BB Cream

Roc Multi-Corrextion 5-in-1 Perfecting BB Cream

I love it because it uses the ingredients that are so important in our skincare. (list at the bottom) It’s infused with Roc Retinol and has SPF 25.  It’s meant to hydrate, even out skin coloring, protect from the sun and make your skin look smooth. What more can we ask of it?

whoops, shade doesn't work!!

whoops, shade doesn’t work!!

I am angry at it though because it only comes in one color and that color is too dark for me. The finish is great when it’s on my skin but the color makes it impossible for me to wear. I’m usually the lightest or second lightest shade in face products. My feeling is that if this shade works for you that you’re going to love it. I hope that RoC takes notice and introduces this in other shades to match more skintones.

LISA’S VIEWS:

Lucky for me, my skin is a few shades darker than Marcia’s so I think the color is perfect.

It comes in a terrific airless pump that ensures the efficacy of the all those skin-perfecting ingredients like the RoC Retinol  and SPF 25. That means that while you instantly get a more even and brighter skin tone you are also fighting fine lines and wrinkles. Gotta love multi-tasking!

RoC BB Cream

RoC BB Cream

RoC BB Cream

RoC BB Cream sheered out a bit

The coverage is a little more sheer than what a full coverage gal like me wants, but once I start faux-tanning for the summer this is going to be great. It has ‘color adapting technology’, so while it’s a little too dark for lighter shades like Marcia and too light for dark skin tones, it will work great for everyone else on the skin tone spectrum. Those who want brighter, more even toned skin will be very happy with this BB Cream.

GIVEAWAY: RoC has graciously offered a giveaway to two different US residents of  RoC Multi-Correxion 5-in-1 Perfecting BB Cream. The giveaway goes through 4/21/14 at 11:59 p.m. EST. We will be asking winners to provide their address (no PO boxes) and phone number for delivery.

Christina Choi BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Christina Choi

The gorgeous Christina Choi

Normally, I am not really a ‘BB’ kind of girl. I need some coverage for my skin imperfections and most BB creams I try just don’t have enough for me. But I really like the BB Cream that Christina Choi sent to test. It does everything a BB cream is supposed to do plus it does a great job of camouflaging all those areas I don’t want everyone to see.

Christina Choi BB Cream

Christina Choi BB Cream

Christina Choi BB Cream

Christina Choi BB Cream

Christina Choi BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($39.95) is truly a multi-tasking wonder. It works quadruple time as a primer for foundation, a skin tint, a skin strengthener, and a skin brightener. Plus, it protects the skin from sun with Broad Spectrum SPF 30. It has enough coverage to be worn by itself and when paired with foundation it helps my makeup apply smoothly and increases the length of wear.

This is also a skin care product as it contains vitamin E, goji berry extract, and peptides to keep cells healthy and brighten skin tone.

I tried the Light shade, which perfectly matches my right-in-between light and medium skin. I think it would be a little too dark for anyone lighter, but would work fine for those with a medium skin tone.

Another great thing about this line is that while it offers something for all ethnicities, it is especially friendly for Asian skin. I adore Christina Choi Cosmetics eye shadow and lip gloss and now I have added the BB Cream to my list of must-haves.

Christina Choi Cosmetics has fantastic products in gorgeous shades and is absolutely worth checking out.

Makeup Wars – heavenly foundations

makeup-wars.jpg~original

This week the Makeup War bloggers have decided to take on foundations again. It’s not a new subject for us, or any bloggers, but since we are such fickle pickles most of us change our minds more often than the typical pickle. I have a box filled (or overfilled) with foundation, BB Cream and CC Cream. Choosing which to share was actually easier than I thought since I looked at my vanity and saw 6 bottles and tubes that I’d been switching between for the last several months. So that’s what you see here (along with my laundry room!).

Makeup Wars Heavenly Foundation picks February 2014 @beautyinfozone

Makeup Wars Heavenly Foundation picks February 2014 @beautyinfozone

There are 3 foundations that have been in heavy rotation. These are the items I’ve used the most in January especially.

Makeup Wars foundations: Senna Lasting Illusion, Eddie Funkhouser Luxlight Revitalizing Foundation, Lancome Teint Miracle

Makeup Wars foundations: Senna Lasting Illusion, Eddie Funkhouser Luxlight Revitalizing Foundation, Lancome Teint Miracle

Senna Lasting Illusion Satin Matte Foundation – I recently reviewed this and to be honest it’s been on my face almost constantly the last few weeks. I’m crazy about the finish of this foundation. It’s the fullest of the three I’m sharing but it’s not so full that it’s mask-like. It covers my imperfections beautifully and lasts wonderfully even in the harsh weather we’ve had in Michigan. I can’t get over how much I like it. I have new items to review but I don’t want to put this away.

Eddie Funkhouser Luxlight Revitalizing Foundation – I need to write a review of this soon. This is the lightest weight, sheerest of the foundations shown but some days that’s exactly what I need. You can build this up to give a fuller coverage though. It’s a beautiful luminizing finish. It comes in 6 shades and it’s only $14.99.

Lancome Teint Miracle – I’ve had this particular bottle at least 3 years but it’s just as good as ever. I know some people wouldn’t keep it that long but as a blogger I am constantly switching and testing. Yet I come back to Teint Miracle often. If I’m asked about Lancome this is what I recommend too. It’s available in an amazing 31 shades so there’s something for everyone here. When I first reviewed it (January 2012) it was available in 16 shades. They’ve since doubled the amount of shades and raised the price $6. I will most likely rebuy this with the right gwp some day.

Makeup Wars Foundations - CC Cream version with It Cosmetics, Kate Somerville Illumikate CC, Pur Minerals

Makeup Wars Foundations – CC Cream version with It Cosmetics, Kate Somerville Illumikate CC, Pur Minerals

My BB creams are all put away for now but 3 of the CC Creams I have are still playing a big part in my rotation. I use these often when I’m in a hurry because they contain skincare elements and SPF but I also use them because I love the finish of them.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC+ Cream has been mentioned by me so often that you are probably tired of the repetition. But when something is this good, it’s worth me telling you over and over. As much as I love this brand and want to recommend it all to you, this is my absolute favorite product from them. This fickle pickle has told you other products were her favorite but this is the true favorite. When I first reviewed it was summer, now it’s winter and it’s still just as wonderful.

Kate Somerville IllumiKate CC Cream is my newest CC Cream and it’s another winner. This only comes in 4 shades though. I was sent this in Fair to review but it’s still a little dark. The solution for me is to take some of my tarte maracuja concealer and mix them, about 1/3 concealer to 2/3 IllumiKate. That color works and I have this beautiful glow that has SPF 50. Look for a full review very soon on this.

Pur Minerals CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is another favorite that works for me year round. I’ve worn this in all seasons except spring and my skin loves it in all of those seasons. The consistency is mousse-like and spreads so easily.

This fickle pickle is officially declaring these 6 products her favorite foundation picks. But don’t be surprised to hear of more later though since I have a few more products to review for you. Fickleness can be delightful!! Have you worn any of these 6? If not which would you most want to try? — Marcia

Please read what these other lovely ladies have decided to share with us. Sharing is caring!

Suntegrity 5 in 1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen is the definition of ‘multi-tasker’

Suntegrity

Suntegrity 5 in 1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen

I thanked Suntegrity Skincare every day while on vacation this summer for sending the BIZ their 5 in 1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen ($45) to test. My family and I went to the ocean for two weeks and the last thing I wanted to do was wear makeup. My Suntegrity 5 in 1 did everything I needed without the heaviness of regular cosmetics.

Suntegrity was founded by Tricia Trimble, who lost her mother to melanoma skin cancer. Tricia realized the importance of sunscreen but wasn’t happy with what she found on the market. So she worked with a chemist to create Suntegrity Skincare. Tricia says, “Suntegrity Face and Body SPF 30 products use only the best known physical block ingredient (non-nano size zinc oxide) to provide broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and super anti-oxidants and amino acids to enhance that protection and help with skin repair. Our products use non-toxic preservatives to maintain their integrity without sacrificing safety or health.”

Suntegrity has a #1 rating from the EWG/Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database, which also declared it one of the best sunscreens of 2013. But the 5 in 1 is far more than just my sunscreen…it is is my everything!

Suntegrity

I love my 5 in 1!!

The 5 in 1 is a BB cream that does the following five wonderful things:

1.  Treat

It’s full of antioxidants to fight off those nasty free radicals.

2.  Hydrate

It keeps skin soft and hydrated with aloe vera, jojoba, sunflower, pomegranate, cucumber, and green tea.

3.  Protect

It has mineral Broad Spectrum SPF 30 coverage using zinc oxide.

4.  Prime

It smooths skin and gets it ready for makeup if you want – although it provides enough coverage to love it on its own.

5.  Cover

It comes in three different shades including Light, Golden Light, and Medium that beautifully even out skin tone and cover imperfections.

The 5 in 1 comes in an airless opaque container that is TSA friendly. It’s a perfect container that keeps the sunscreen stable and effective.

top

The airless pump and opaque container keep the sunscreen stable

The 5 in 1 works for all skin types and isn’t the least bit greasy or heavy. It smells wonderful, with a clean, citrusy scent.  You don’t need much to get perfectly primed for makeup or to get just enough coverage to look amazing without foundation. I didn’t have a sample of the Light but here’s the newest shade Golden Light.

Golden Light

5 in 1 in Golden Light

Golden Light is apparently close to the Light shade with more yellow/gold hues for ‘neutralizing redness and brightening sallow dull skin.’

Here’s the Medium shade, which is definitely more for cool skin tones.

Medium

5 in 1 in Medium

I can wear both shades and my skin tone is neutral. I find that the shades are pretty forgiving. 5 in 1 provides more than light coverage although it’s not heavy enough to qualify as medium coverage.

The 5 in 1 is vegan, non-toxic, and cruelty-free. It’s also free of Parabens, Phthalates, Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oils, Synthetic Dyes, Sulfates, Paba, Titanium Dioxide, Nano-Particles and Chemical UV Absorbers. If you have issues with chemical sunscreens this just might be exactly what you need. There are plant oils which some people can’t handle, but my skin adores the 5 in 1. It’s exactly the kind of multi-tasker that I need…and I’ll bet you need it too!  - Lisa

A trio of Tarte to save the day

tarte trio        tarte trio products

I’m a procrastinator. I’ve improved a lot in the last few years but some tigers just don’t change their stripes, they just sort of fade. In my procrastination I forgot to give you the scoop on this great trio of products from Tarte. This is called their High Performance Naturals kit and it was a great deal. Unfortunately it’s sold out but the products are still available so I’ll try to redeem myself and tell you about these three:  tarte Amazonian Clay BB Illuminating Moisturizer, Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara, and Clean Slate Poreless Primer.

tarte Amazonia Clay BB Illuminating Moisturizer

tarte Amazonian Clay BB Illuminating Moisturizer

tarte Amazonian Clay BB Illuminating Moisturizer is a combination moisturizer and BB Cream. In my BB Primer review I reviewed that in Fair which is extremely light and worked more as a primer than a BB Cream for me.What’s different about this BB Illuminating Moisturizer is that it’s thicker even though it’s a serum and gives me a little more coverage than the BB Primer did. It only comes in this one shade. I can wear this alone in the summer over a sunscreen or in combination with the BB Primer which contains SPF 30.

In the set there is also the Tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12 hr+ Perfecting Primer. Now I’d give anything to have a truly poreless appearance but that’s not going to happen. Instead I have to be satisfied with using a product like this Perfecting Primer to help refine the appearance of my pores. This is a matte base which helps hide my pores more than a shiny one.

Tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12 hr+ Perfecting Primer

a drop of the Clean Slate Poreless Primer

This primer not only helps keep your makeup in place for up to 12 hours of perfect wear time, but also refines the appearance of pores and diffuses fine lines and imperfections while delivering natural fruit-and plant-derived extracts to deliver antiaging and skin-restorative benefits to your skin. It refines the appearance of pores and diffuses fine lines and masks imperfections. Just one application leaves skin looking instantly smoother, softer, and refined.

Last in the trio was one of tarte’s great mascaras, Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara. I’ve used this before and actually was wearing it in one of my Makeup Wars looks from Fall 2012. I loved using the mascara so having this mini was a fun reminder of how great it is.

Makeup Geek Poison Ivy and Dirty Martini

Makeup Geek Poison Ivy and Dirty Martini with Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara

This is the only mascara that Tarte makes that uses their miracle ingredient Amazonian Clay. What’s also different about the Gifted mascara is that it’s meant to be a healthy mascara. It helps increase lash volume as well as rebuilding and strengthening your lashes. It prevents lash loss as well as promotes lash health.

Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara

Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara

Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara

Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara

While this didn’t give me the biggest lashes in the world, it did give me a fuller longer lash look. It never smudged nor did it flake. I used the original for the full 3 months and only gave it up because I try not to use mascaras for longer. An added bonus about Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara is that Tarte gives back and so can you: with every gifted mascara purchase, you are helping support the Tarte-sponsored sustainable-harvest cooperatives in the Amazon.

While I can’t tempt you with the original set I hope I was able to tell you about 3 great products from Tarte. One of the many reasons we love Tarte on Beauty Info Zone is that we believe in their policies as well as love that they are cruelty free and care about sustaining the world. Now back to my procrastination — Marcia

tarte introduces BB Tinted Treatment Primer

tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer

tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer

I don’t know whether to tell you tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer is a primer or a BB Cream or even a sunscreen. It’s actually a triple wonder since it’s all of those things. It’s multi-tasking at its best. First of all it’s considered a BB Cream with the properties that go hand in hand with BB creams: primer, moisturizer, light foundation, anti-aging treatment, and sunscreen. Second it can be used as a Primer alone under any foundation you choose. Third it has Broad Spectrum SPF 30.

tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer

tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer

Depending on the shade you choose tarte BB Tinted Treatment is a BB Cream and you won’t have a need for any other foundation or BB Cream with it. I was sent this in Fair which is extremely fair and it’s almost white on me even though it blends in like a dream. But it’s too light for me to wear alone. Instead I treat this as a combination Primer and Sunscreen.

It’s great for me under a powder foundation since it takes the place of me adding layers of products underneath. The sunscreen in it is Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I’ve also worn it under liquid foundation and BB Creams to give my skin a flawless finish.

tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer

tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer

BB Tinted Treatment comes in 4 shades (fair, light, medium and tan) for $34. The tube is 1 oz/30 ml but I need so little that it’s going to last me until next summer easily.

from ulta.com

from ulta.com

The pros as I see them:

-          It’s extremely smooth and fills in pores

-          I love that it’s so lightweight especially for summer

-          It doesn’t bother people with sensitive skin

-          It evens out skin imperfections

-          Tarte is so tarte! There are no parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, synthetic fragrances or sodium laurel sulfate in their products

-          On the tarte website it scores 4.7 out of 5 with 142 reviews – a lot of people love this!

The cons in my opinion:

-          It contains silicone which doesn’t work for everyone

-          Even with 4 shades you might have trouble finding a match

-          A personal con is that for the very first time the Fair shade is actually too light so I can only use this as a base and not as a BB Cream.

Here is tarte’s description: Indulge and nourish your skin with tarte’s innovative BB tinted treatment which offers multiple skincare and makeup benefits in one eco-chic tube. This powerfully pure formula not only works as a skin-soothing treatment, but as a moisturizer, sunscreen, primer and foundation that visibly improves skin’s overall appearance for a youthful-looking glow. This 12-hour longwear, anti-aging, oil-free tinted treatment primer offers light-to-medium buildable coverage that helps even skin tone and conceals discoloration, acne and other skin imperfections. The creamy, silky formula goes on smooth, hydrates skin and blends easily leaving you with a natural, flawless finish while the broad-spectrum, chemical-free SPF 30 offers ideal protection from the sun’s harmful UVA/UVB rays.
