Pacifica Alright BB Cream and Purify Coconut Water

Did we hear you say Vegan? Did we hear you say cruelty-free? If we heard you right then you need to know about PACIFICA. We learned about them when they sent the products you see above for us and enough for two of our readers to win.

They consider animals too when they create products that are 100% vegan, cruelty-free and certified by PETA. Since the planet is so important to their company they use recyclable materials, sustainable ingredients and help create less waste.

Today we’re going to share two products with you so that you can learn more about the brand.

MARCIA’S SIDEALIGHT MULTI-MINERAL BB CREAM

ALIGHT Multi-Mineral BB Cream

ALIGHT Multi-Mineral BB Cream

Pacifica’s Alight BB Cream is made in one shade that contains special mineralized pigments that helps it adapt to different skintones. It’s a very lightweight cream that is both brightening and luminizing.

PACIFICA ALIGHT

PACIFICA ALIGHT

Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream contains ingredients that will help the signs of aging like fine lines, pores and uneven skintone. The main ingredients are Jojoba Esters which are known to increase moisture and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, Sweet Iris Leaf Cell Extract to help cell repair, Damascus Rose Leaf Cell Extract which helps firm and tighten, Coconut Water to promote elasticity and helps prevent sagging,  Kelp Extract for circulation and Hyaluronic Acid for hydration.

ALIGHT Multi-Mineral BB Cream

ALIGHT Multi-Mineral BB Cream

As you can see this is a very sheer finish so that it will help you maintain a dewy, radiant bare finish. Even though the color is supposed to adapt to your skintone it only works for most people not all. I can wear this sometimes because it does adapt but not perfectly. But I have one of the lightest skintones so I’m pretty sure it will be better on those who are more light/medium and medium. If I mix this with my SPF it lightens up and becomes more natural looking on me. I can wear it to run around during the day but not if I want more coverage.

Alight is only $16 which is a terrific price for a BB Cream. It’s sold on Pacifica’s Website as well as at Target.

LISA’S SIDE: PURIFY COCONUT WATER CLEANSING WIPES

Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes

Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes

I have a ‘thing’ for cleansing wipes. I have a package in every bathroom, plus I always keep a pack at work, too. Really good ones are indispensible…they are perfect when I am too lazy to wash my face at night. They instantly cure makeup ‘oops’ like too much blush or obnoxious lipstick. And let’s not forget the necessity of a ‘Queens bath’ when that alarm doesn’t go off so there are only five minutes available to get ready for work!

Pacifica Purify Cleansing WipesPacifica Purify Coconut Cleansing Wipes

Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes are wonderful. They smell of delicious coconut. They gently clean whatever needs to be cleaned, removing oil, makeup, and dirt with ease. Ingredients include papaya for exfoliation, aloe vera for calming skin, and calendula as a soothing anti-inflammatory.

Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes are $8 at Target, and I also found them for $6 on the Pacifica website.  Definitely affordable and worth having a pack in every bathroom!

GIVEAWAY INFORMATION: Two lucky winners will receive both of these products in their package. You don’t even have to choose! If the comments close before the giveaway is over the solution is to email me with your comment at beautyinfozone@gmail.com, label it Pacifica, click “I commented” and proceed to whichever options you want to use for more entries. Beyond beauty, sheer science: DNA RENEWAL SHEER DEFENSE

DNA logoHere at Beauty Info Zone, we are all about products that multi-task. So the prospect of testing the DNAEGF Renewal line always has us thrilled. This line addresses the past, present, and future! Dr. Ronald L. Moy created it based upon two scientific breakthroughs: plant-based Barley Epidermal Growth Factor and DNA Repair Enzymes. His products not only restore damaged skin, they also protect it from any more damage. The products are also made to work fast, creating a very visible difference within months.

For this go-round with DNA EGF, we tried their version of BB Cream – the DNA Sheer Defense Medium ($65).

DNA in Sheer Medium

DNA in Sheer Medium

Lisa’s Side:

I tried out the DNA Sheer Defense Medium. I am not one to often reach for BB or CC Creams because they typically don’t offer much in terms of coverage, but this one does a really nice job. Plus, it does so many other things I almost feel guilty not using it!

DNA Intense Moisturizer in Sheer Medium

3 in 1 BB DNA Repair Cream in Sheer Medium

This is a creamy fluid that provides sheer to medium coverage. I find it goes on very silky and definitely smooths out skin texture and skin tone. The medium shade is actually a little light on me and my skin is somewhere in between light and medium. I use this by itself on weekends and during the week I use it as a tinted primer. What I really love about it is that is has an SPF of 50+ and protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Plus it also has DNA Repair Enzymes to fight the good fight against any damage that my skin has already suffered.

Looks like a test tube...

DNA Intense Moisturizer

My only gripe about this great product is the packaging. The bottle is designed to look like a test tube, which is cool, but…it makes it difficult to store. So I kept the box and just keep it in that, and problem solved. Overall, though, I would say this is a real winner.

DNA in Sheer Light

DNA in Sheer Light

Marcia’s Side:

I rarely finish anything other than mascara and cleansers. It’s the nature of blogging that you move on after 30 days of testing to another product. But when I reviewed DNA EGF in 2011 and 2012 I actually got to the bottom of the tubes. Receiving this 3-IN-1 BB-DNA Sheer Defense Light that contains the same skincare ingredients as the others has been a pleasure.

3 in 1 BB DNA Repair Cream in Sheer Light

3 in 1 BB DNA Repair Cream in Sheer Light

This is an all inclusive, broad-spectrum skin protectant with active DNA repair enzymes that attack damaged skin cells. Since I have skin damage, from years of no sun protection, I know it’s important for me to use a sunscreen. DNA Intense Moisturizer uses ingredients that absorb and block the broad spectrum of damaging UV rays.

I find this to be a very light and sheer coverage. I’m the opposite of Lisa and use it alone many weekdays yet on weekends I’ll use it mixed with other foundation to give myself more coverage. (I also love the packaging because it stands out from the crowd.) Reasons I like using this include the fact that it has no fragrance and it’s never heavy or greasy feeling.

This skincare based BB Cream can be found online at the DNA Renewal website for $65. As much as I enjoy using it now, I know that in the summer it’s going to be an even better find for me.

INGREDIENT BENEFITS:

DNA REPAIR ENZYMES: Engineered from marine and botanical sources, these powerful enzymes intensify skin’s ability to repair and defend cellular DNA by stimulating the recognition and elimination of damaged DNA. They have also shown to improve the thin skin around the eye area for a more youthful contour.

Zinc Oxide: Micro-fine physical sunscreen that easily disperses and absorbs into skin to provide sheer (no whitening), high-performance protection from harmful UVA & UVB light.

Vitamin E and Vitamin A: These vitamins provide the skin with additional antioxidant protection against damage from free radicals.

Broad Spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays.

Three fabulous summer finds for hair, skin, and lips

When I am out and about on a summer day, I need three things:  something cute to keep my hair up and out of my face, a sheer foundation with SPF protection to keep my skin looking great, and a kick-butt lip gloss to brighten my look.  Here’s my trio of fun, fashionable, and fantastic summer must-haves we were sent that I love for this season.

Three summer must haves: Lumene BB Cream, Scunci Bun Wrap, and Smashbox Be Legendary Lipgloss in Azalea

Three summer must haves: Lumene BB Cream, Scunci Bun Wrap, and Smashbox Be Legendary Lip gloss in Azalea

Since I have long hair, I am always searching for something cute when it gets hot and I need to get my hair up off my neck.  A hair accessory as tiny as the Scunci Bun Wrap suddenly becomes essential.

Could that blue with white polka dot print be any more adorable?  It looks totally picnic ready.  The Scunci Bun Wrap is actually a wire encased in a pretty, gauzy fabric.  It easily wraps around any ponytail or bun and looks fabulous, even if you are as klutsy as me with hair.  These cute little wraps are found in drugstores like Walgreens or Walmart.

Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C BB Cream in 01 Light

Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C BB Cream in 01 Light

As you can see, the Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C BB Cream in Light is actually more of a medium shade…unfortunately I don’t think those of you with very pale skin will be able to use this.  (It only comes in two shades, Light and Medium.)  But for the rest of us — hooray!  It luminizes, evens skin tone, and protects from UV rays.  I also find it to be incredibly forgiving.  I slap this on using my fingers and it looks great every time.  It is awesome.

The new Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss ($20) lives up to its name – this really is some legendary lip gloss.  If you are a lip gloss girl, get yourself several of these STAT.  The formula is incredibly moisturizing and silky, and it lasts longer than any other typical lip gloss I have tried.  I think the shade Azalea is the quintessential summer color.  Azalea is a bright melon pink that is very flattering and so wearable.  It keeps its shine and has a great slip without any stickiness whatsoever.  Be Legendary Lip Gloss comes in 16 different shades, but my recommendation is to make Azalea your first one!

Face Stockholm’s unique BB Natural Beauty Balm

courtesy of facestockholm.com

courtesy of facestockholm.com

I am in love with 2 things – Face Stockholm BB Natural Beauty Balm with SPF 30 and their statement “Everything you want to BB!”. Cleverness gets me all the time but what makes me stick around is quality. Face Stockholm sent this BB Cream ($38) for review and I was immediately attracted to it because it’s different than any others in my collection.

FACE Stockholm Natural Beauty Balm

FACE Stockholm Natural Beauty Balm

This is a compact BB Cream while others are in squeeze tubes. Depending on your skintone this will be different things to different people. It only comes in 2 shades (light and dark) which is the only downfall of the product if you are looking to wear it as a foundation. But even with just two shades there are so many other benefits that it is a wonderful BB Cream.

In actuality BB Creams weren’t truly developed to be foundations but in the US it seems that most are tinted enough to take care of the category. Face Stockholm intends this to hydrate, prime, conceal, and correct. For me it hits all these high points and more.

Face Stockholm BB Natural Beauty Balm

Hydrate: This contains vitamin E which provides moisture plus antioxidants. It also uses Spilanthes Flower Extract in order to help relax our fine lines.

Prime: You can use this as your primer if you want. It wears well under other foundations and is your SPF and hydration system. It contains SPF 30 (Titanium and Zinc Oxides provide UVA/UVB sun protection). face stockhom bb back box

Conceal: Use this as a spot concealer, especially under your eyes.

Correct: I love this as my foundation and find that it imparts a very healthy glow while providing a good amount of coverage to my skin. I wear this in Fair which is said to be for fair and light skin tones.

Face Stockholm Natural Beauty Balm

Face Stockholm Natural Beauty Balm in Fair #1

The Natural Beauty Balm is very creamy and easy to apply. I’ve used my fingers many times but my favorite application method is a fluffy foundation brush. The one I use most is by Urban Decay (Optical Blurring Brush). For me a traditional flat foundation brush doesn’t give it the softness that a fluffier one does, plus I like using a synthetic brush with a cream product. Looking over Face Stockholm’s brushes I’d choose the Contouring Brush #31 to use with this.

I’ve been wearing this for almost 10 months so I’ve experienced it in every season. When it was bitter cold this winter I found it to be comforting and to give me plenty of coverage. In the warm weather it doesn’t melt away on me which is what I love most about it.

I already had a love affair going with Face Stockholm so to be able to use their BB Natural Beauty Balm with SPF 30 just adds to the infatuation. If I took a recent picture of this you’d see how much it’s been used and will continue to be used.

RoC Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Perfecting BB Cream is now available (plus we have a giveaway)

You all know about BB Creams. There’s no getting around them anymore. So many brands make them but they are not all created equal. RoC took a long time to come out with their version since they wanted it to be perfect, RoC is a skincare company after all and we are proud to be Roc Ambassadors. roc bb cream

RoC Multi-Correxion 5-in-1 Perfecting BB Cream uses the ingredients that are important to RoC. This anti-aging product has Broad Spectrum SPF 25 along with all the other ingredients that they are proud to use like RoC Retinol. The company wasn’t going to bring out a product that they couldn’t be proud to have their name on. Both Marcia and Lisa have used this product and are sharing their thoughts. Be sure to read to the end for a chance to be one of two winners of this great BB Cream.

MARCIA’S VIEWS:

I probably shouldn’t be the one that goes first on today’s Side by Side review since I have such mixed feelings about the Multi-Complexion BB Cream. I love it on one hand and am angry at it on the other hand.

Roc Multi-Corrextion 5-in-1 Perfecting BB Cream

Roc Multi-Corrextion 5-in-1 Perfecting BB Cream

I love it because it uses the ingredients that are so important in our skincare. (list at the bottom) It’s infused with Roc Retinol and has SPF 25.  It’s meant to hydrate, even out skin coloring, protect from the sun and make your skin look smooth. What more can we ask of it?

whoops, shade doesn't work!!

whoops, shade doesn’t work!!

I am angry at it though because it only comes in one color and that color is too dark for me. The finish is great when it’s on my skin but the color makes it impossible for me to wear. I’m usually the lightest or second lightest shade in face products. My feeling is that if this shade works for you that you’re going to love it. I hope that RoC takes notice and introduces this in other shades to match more skintones.

LISA’S VIEWS:

Lucky for me, my skin is a few shades darker than Marcia’s so I think the color is perfect.

It comes in a terrific airless pump that ensures the efficacy of the all those skin-perfecting ingredients like the RoC Retinol  and SPF 25. That means that while you instantly get a more even and brighter skin tone you are also fighting fine lines and wrinkles. Gotta love multi-tasking!

RoC BB Cream

RoC BB Cream

RoC BB Cream

RoC BB Cream sheered out a bit

The coverage is a little more sheer than what a full coverage gal like me wants, but once I start faux-tanning for the summer this is going to be great. It has ‘color adapting technology’, so while it’s a little too dark for lighter shades like Marcia and too light for dark skin tones, it will work great for everyone else on the skin tone spectrum. Those who want brighter, more even toned skin will be very happy with this BB Cream.

GIVEAWAY: RoC has graciously offered a giveaway to two different US residents of  RoC Multi-Correxion 5-in-1 Perfecting BB Cream. The giveaway goes through 4/21/14 at 11:59 p.m. EST. We will be asking winners to provide their address (no PO boxes) and phone number for delivery.

Christina Choi BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Christina Choi

The gorgeous Christina Choi

Normally, I am not really a ‘BB’ kind of girl. I need some coverage for my skin imperfections and most BB creams I try just don’t have enough for me. But I really like the BB Cream that Christina Choi sent to test. It does everything a BB cream is supposed to do plus it does a great job of camouflaging all those areas I don’t want everyone to see.

Christina Choi BB Cream

Christina Choi BB Cream

Christina Choi BB Cream

Christina Choi BB Cream

Christina Choi BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($39.95) is truly a multi-tasking wonder. It works quadruple time as a primer for foundation, a skin tint, a skin strengthener, and a skin brightener. Plus, it protects the skin from sun with Broad Spectrum SPF 30. It has enough coverage to be worn by itself and when paired with foundation it helps my makeup apply smoothly and increases the length of wear.

This is also a skin care product as it contains vitamin E, goji berry extract, and peptides to keep cells healthy and brighten skin tone.

I tried the Light shade, which perfectly matches my right-in-between light and medium skin. I think it would be a little too dark for anyone lighter, but would work fine for those with a medium skin tone.

Another great thing about this line is that while it offers something for all ethnicities, it is especially friendly for Asian skin. I adore Christina Choi Cosmetics eye shadow and lip gloss and now I have added the BB Cream to my list of must-haves.

Makeup Wars – heavenly foundations

makeup-wars.jpg~original

This week the Makeup War bloggers have decided to take on foundations again. It’s not a new subject for us, or any bloggers, but since we are such fickle pickles most of us change our minds more often than the typical pickle. I have a box filled (or overfilled) with foundation, BB Cream and CC Cream. Choosing which to share was actually easier than I thought since I looked at my vanity and saw 6 bottles and tubes that I’d been switching between for the last several months. So that’s what you see here (along with my laundry room!).

Makeup Wars Heavenly Foundation picks February 2014 @beautyinfozone

Makeup Wars Heavenly Foundation picks February 2014 @beautyinfozone

There are 3 foundations that have been in heavy rotation. These are the items I’ve used the most in January especially.

Makeup Wars foundations: Senna Lasting Illusion, Eddie Funkhouser Luxlight Revitalizing Foundation, Lancome Teint Miracle

Makeup Wars foundations: Senna Lasting Illusion, Eddie Funkhouser Luxlight Revitalizing Foundation, Lancome Teint Miracle

Senna Lasting Illusion Satin Matte Foundation – I recently reviewed this and to be honest it’s been on my face almost constantly the last few weeks. I’m crazy about the finish of this foundation. It’s the fullest of the three I’m sharing but it’s not so full that it’s mask-like. It covers my imperfections beautifully and lasts wonderfully even in the harsh weather we’ve had in Michigan. I can’t get over how much I like it. I have new items to review but I don’t want to put this away.

Eddie Funkhouser Luxlight Revitalizing Foundation – I need to write a review of this soon. This is the lightest weight, sheerest of the foundations shown but some days that’s exactly what I need. You can build this up to give a fuller coverage though. It’s a beautiful luminizing finish. It comes in 6 shades and it’s only $14.99.

Lancome Teint Miracle – I’ve had this particular bottle at least 3 years but it’s just as good as ever. I know some people wouldn’t keep it that long but as a blogger I am constantly switching and testing. Yet I come back to Teint Miracle often. If I’m asked about Lancome this is what I recommend too. It’s available in an amazing 31 shades so there’s something for everyone here. When I first reviewed it (January 2012) it was available in 16 shades. They’ve since doubled the amount of shades and raised the price $6. I will most likely rebuy this with the right gwp some day.

Makeup Wars Foundations - CC Cream version with It Cosmetics, Kate Somerville Illumikate CC, Pur Minerals

Makeup Wars Foundations – CC Cream version with It Cosmetics, Kate Somerville Illumikate CC, Pur Minerals

My BB creams are all put away for now but 3 of the CC Creams I have are still playing a big part in my rotation. I use these often when I’m in a hurry because they contain skincare elements and SPF but I also use them because I love the finish of them.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC+ Cream has been mentioned by me so often that you are probably tired of the repetition. But when something is this good, it’s worth me telling you over and over. As much as I love this brand and want to recommend it all to you, this is my absolute favorite product from them. This fickle pickle has told you other products were her favorite but this is the true favorite. When I first reviewed it was summer, now it’s winter and it’s still just as wonderful.

Kate Somerville IllumiKate CC Cream is my newest CC Cream and it’s another winner. This only comes in 4 shades though. I was sent this in Fair to review but it’s still a little dark. The solution for me is to take some of my tarte maracuja concealer and mix them, about 1/3 concealer to 2/3 IllumiKate. That color works and I have this beautiful glow that has SPF 50. Look for a full review very soon on this.

Pur Minerals CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is another favorite that works for me year round. I’ve worn this in all seasons except spring and my skin loves it in all of those seasons. The consistency is mousse-like and spreads so easily.

This fickle pickle is officially declaring these 6 products her favorite foundation picks. But don’t be surprised to hear of more later though since I have a few more products to review for you. Fickleness can be delightful!! Have you worn any of these 6? If not which would you most want to try? — Marcia

Please read what these other lovely ladies have decided to share with us. Sharing is caring!
