Ecoconscious sensory beauty: Teadora Nourishing Bath and Body Oils

Teadora 4In Portuguese, “Teadora” means “adore you”.  Teadora Beauty not only adores you, it adores the earth with unique products that feature rainforest ingredients.  Teadora skin care products are created for ‘sensory beauty’, a complete immersion into lush ingredients and fragrance that  transport you to the Amazonian rainforest.  Teadora only uses sustainable organic ingredients so they can share Brazil while giving back to their community, as well as to the entire earth.

Teadora carries a range of body products from lip butters to body cleansers to hair products.  Every product sold supports rainforests deforestation, as well as the EARTH FOR YOU, YOU FOR EARTH movement which focuses on youth education, leadership development, and health. They sent the BIZ two beautiful Nourishing Bath and Body Oils to test, Rainforest at Dawn and Rainforest at Dusk.

Teadora Body Oils

Teadora Body Oils

I adore body oils in general.  They hydrate skin, leave a soft scent, and give skin a beautiful, luminous glow.  Not all body oils are alike, however, some are definitely better than others.  Teadora Nourishing Bath and Body Oils stand out because of their truly impressive Brazilian ingredients:

Buriti is an amazingly powerful ingredient. It contains the highest concentration of natural vitamin A among fruits and vegetables. It is also rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin C and antioxidants and has been used for generations as a natural UV ray protectant. Its amazing anti-inflammatory properties also help to promote skin healing.

Maracujá (or Passion Fruit) is known as the “Pure Miracle” in Brazil as it brightens, moisturizes, heals, and repairs skin and hair without feeling greasy or heavy. Good for all skin types-from dry to oily.

Brazil Nut is a light, sweet, and nutty oil that is wonderful for the entire body. It absorbs quickly, and provides powerful moisture and healing to the skin, hair, and face.

Babassu is made from the nuts of wild-growing Brazilian palm trees. It is also a more effective skin oil than coconut oil. It is high in essential acids to cool, sooth, protect, restore, and moisturize any skin type.

Plant Stem Cells, we use stem cells from the Argan tree to help rejuvenate your skin’s middle layer, where wrinkles start. It is known to protect dermal stem cells reduce the appearance of wrinkles, tighten and tone skin tissue and  increases skin firmness and density.

Teadora Bath and Body Oils have a ton of antioxidants to fight free radicals, plus tremendously hydrating ingredients that leave skin soft, supple, and healthy looking.  There are two scents from which to choose:  Rainforest at Dawn and Rainforest After Dark.

Rainforest at Dawn ($58) has a citrus scent with bergamot, lemon, woods, fresh florals, basil and eucalyptus.  The fresh, energizing scent makes this a great body oil to start the day.  I smooth it on after I shower, and I even run my hands through my wet hair for a subtle scent and to moisturize and eliminate fly-away hair.  This oil also makes a great treatment for dandruff and dry scalp.

Rainforest at Dusk ($58)  is more of a dusky, sensual floral scent with Rose Absolute and Geranium plus a hint of fruitiness.  I love this as a bath oil or as a massage oil…it is heavenly.

Teadora Nourishing Bath and Body Oils are 100% vegan with completely natural scents.  They are also free of parabens, synthetic fragrance, silicone, gluten, phthalate, sulfates and other harsh chemicals.  Teadora is a wonderful line with a great message that supports a fabulous cause.  It doesn’t get any better than this.  – Lisa

So long cellulite? Orlane Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub

I’ve always thought that the ultimate high-end beauty line was Orlane. Every time I am in Saks or Neiman’s, I stop at the counter and marvel at the cool minimalist packaging and the fabulously chic products.  Orlane sent their Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub ($65) to try, and I couldn’t wait to see if it would magically turn me into a gorgeous French model with perfect legs.

Why yes, that is me!! (photo from

Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub is a shower gel that does three things:  detoxifies, exfoliates, and reduces the appearance of cellulite. Marine algae is an emollient as well as an antioxidant. The sea salt is an exfoliant and it’s small enough grains to not irritate my skin. The caffeine and ginger are anti-inflammatory ingredients that actually constrict the skin, which help to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

The texture of the scrub is described as an “iron fist in a velvet glove”, which I have officially adopted as my ‘mom’ motto. Warm water releases the exfoliants and other ingredients, and the scent is wonderful – just like you would imagine a Parisian spa would smell. To get the best results, don’t be afraid to really pummel yourself while scrubbing. Vigorous massage and hot water followed by a quick blast of cold water gets the best results.

I guess it’s easy to figure out how this story ends – no I have not magically become a gorgeous French model with perfect legs. Nevertheless, my short, somewhat dimply and definitely not perfect legs look better when I use my Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub…and I certainly feel pampered. It is as close as I can come to relaxing in a spa in Paris.  So if it’s in your budget to go Parisian in your shower, this is a great little indulgence.   – Lisa

Good clean fun with Skinplicity

If you haven’t discovered yet, it’s time to take a look. There are tons of amazing etailers with truly fabulous products from jewelry to clothing to bath and body. Whenever I have some time, I just go and browse through all the fantastic shops. Skinplicity is one to visit – I can’t rave enough about their beautiful vegan soaps and natural bath and body goodies!

Skinplicity goodies

Diana, the owner of Skinplicity, is an esthetician who creates all of the fantastic, quality soaps, scrubs, and lotions. The look and feel of these products is totally high-end, but the price point is wallet friendly. Diane sent a few items to try and good clean fun commenced. True story – I was talking to my mom and going on and on about how great these were, and she jumped in her car, drove to my house, and tried to take them from me!

Skinplicity Aromatherapy Body Scrub in Hawaiian Paradise

inside the jar

The Aromatherapy Body Scrub ($12) is an emulsified sugar scrub that exfoliates with sugar and moisturizes with rice bran oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and grapeseed oil. It is very gentle and rinses super clean with no oily or greasy residue. The Hawaiian Paradise scent is lovely, a floral/fruit scent with plumaria, melon, coconut, and pineapple. It leaves skin lightly fragranced and ready for a sunset at the beach.

The Aromatherapy Body Scrub is also available in Chocolate Truffle, Citrus Burst, Summer Melon, Lavender Chamomile, Lemon Eucalyptus, Lemongrass Verbena, Milk & Honey, and Garden Mint.

Skinplicity Lavender Lip Balm

The 100% Organic Lavender Lip Balm ($4) made with fresh local beeswax is a great way to keep lips soft and moisturized. It has all kinds of vitamins and fatty acids that lips just love. Ingredients include shea butter, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, and vitamin e oil. While the lavender essential oil treats lips, the lip balm doesn’t taste like anything in particular. It does, however, feel like heaven on my lips.

Just now I counted 11 different types of lip balm in the Skinplicity store, including Mango, Tea Tree, Honey Mint, Vanilla, Pecan Pie, Coffee, and even a lip balm for guys.

Skinplicity Rosehip and Geranium Soap

the top of the Rosehip and Geranium Soap

I can’t get over the beauty of the Rosehip and Geranium Vegan Soap ($5.50). This is a big, 4 ounce slice of soap encased in a delicate paper box that is so pretty I didn’t even want to remove the soap. The top of the soap has sparkles, ground rosehips, and rose geranium leaves. The scent is just an amazing combination of rose and geranium. It smells like a flower garden in bloom. Put this in a bathroom and it acts like a room freshener!

The soap is made from scratch in small batches. I am truly impressed with the big, thick lather that cleans and moisturizes at the same time. This particular soap has saponified oils of coconut and palm, which means the bar is not super soft so it lasts a long time and it also makes that thick bubbly lather. Rosehips have vitamin C and is a great antioxidant. Geranium is also a fantastic antioxidant for skin.

an even closer look

Oh yeah…did I also say that this bar of soap is GORGEOUS??  And it’s only one of many different varieties that Skinplicity offers. Diane makes soaps with essential oils as well as fragrance oils, so there is something for everyone.

If you love bath and body products, you will love Skinplicity. Head on over to and take a look…there is lots of good clean fun to be found there!  – Lisa

I’m beginning a new ritual with RITUALS bath and body products

RITUALS Fortune Scrub & Touch of Happiness body cream

RITUALS Fortune Scrub & Touch of Happiness body cream

Typically I’m not a bath and body type person but when a brand like RITUALS comes into my life I take another look and decide that I need to make some changes. RITUALS is a European brand that is now in the United States in stores like Barneys NYC. It was started in 2000 by Raymond Cloosterman because of his beliefs that life could be a little more meaningful if we just looked at the smallest things and found happiness in those. He created a brand that is luxurious and enriching to our bodies and our souls.

The RITUALS collections are created based on Eastern customs and traditions. The ingredients they use are chosen to be distinctive for the category they use them. The company is socially responsible and creates products that are never tested on animals, are vegan, dermatologist tested and use sustainable sources for packaging. One of the things that totally warms my heart is their philanthropic ideals – they have committed resources to Tiny Miracles Foundation which aims to break the cycle of proverty in Mumbai, India. Seeing the video on this page will help you understand why this foundation is so important.rituals tiny miracles

While it’s obvious I’m impressed with the company and their manifesto, this is a review of products. I was sent two items from the Laughing Buddha line. The Laughing Buddha was a famous monk from 1100 years ago whose smile was so infectious that it brought happiness everywhere he went. Rubbing his belly is a symbol of good luck and prosperity.

Since I only have the representation of the Laughing Buddha on the beautiful bright orange packaging I’ll just do my rubbing on my body with Fortune Scrub ($17/5 fl oz) and Touch of Happiness Body Cream ($25/6.7 fl oz). There are other great sounding products in the Laughing Buddha line including Fortune Oil (a shower oil) and Happy Mist.

RITUALS Fortune Scrub

RITUALS Fortune Scrub

Fortune Scrub started slowly with me in the shower. Even though I did sniff tests, sometimes you just can’t tell how strong a fragrance is going to be. I started with my legs and noticed just how smooth they felt after using this scrub. There are small scrubbies in it to exfoliate without scratching.

RITUALS Fortune Scrub

RITUALS Fortune Scrub

RITUALS Fortune Scrub

RITUALS Fortune Scrub

Fortune Scrub contains Sweet Orange extract and Cedar Wood oil. The combination of the orange with the cedar wood is invigorating without being sweet. Since Fortune Scrub passed the leg test, it’s now moved on to my entire body. This isn’t too strong for me to use 3x a week and it adds in some needed moisture. Plus it’s easy to wash off without leaving anything behind.

RITUALS Fortune Scrub

I did the same leg test with Touch of Happiness Body Cream.

RITUALS Touch of Happiness Body Cream

RITUALS Touch of Happiness Body Cream

I can be especially picky with body creams and lotions since they linger but happily the combination of Sweet Orange and Cedar Wood has made my skin sweet smelling and soft as can be. Touch of Happiness is a very rich and thick body cream, it’s got a whipped cream formula. You’d think with a cream this lush that it would be hard for it to dry down so you could get dressed but that’s not the case. Sure I have to give it several minutes but after it’s a pleasure to toss on a pair of slacks and notice legs that are soft as silk. I’ve even allowed this to move up my body since the warm scent is pleasant and not too noticeable. It also contains a unique blend of antioxidants, Vitamin E and the strengthening ingredient Centella Asiatica.

RITUALS Touch of Happiness Body Cream

RITUALS Touch of Happiness Body Cream

For me to love a bath and body line like the RITUALS Laughing Buddha line is indeed incredible for me. I love the natural fragrances, I think the line is very reasonably priced, and I’m thrilled with how the skin on my body has lapped this up. RITUALS might just be the line that converts me from being a fragrance-phobe.

Have you tried anything from Rituals that you love? — Marcia

Touch of Happiness:

Beautifully clean with Faith Aromatherapy

Faith Aromatherapy is a beautiful bath and body line based on essential oils that heal the body, mind, and soul. They avoid synthetic fragrances and chemicals in their spa quality products, instead using pure, natural ingredients that are genuinely effective as well as good for the environment. I love their products and there are three in particular that I turn to time and again: Tahitian Monoi Perfumed Shower Gel, Balneotherapy Salts in Just Breathe, and Lemongrass/Fennel Hand and Body Wash.

Faith Aromatherapy Tahitian Monoi Shower Gel

Faith Aromatherapy Tahitian Monoi Shower Gel

Faith Aromatherapy Tahitian Monoi Shower Gel 2

The Tahitian Monoi Perfumed Shower Gel ($12.99) is a liquid soap that creates a soft foam. The main ingredient is Tahitian Monoi oil, known for cleansing and soothing skin while also soothing the mind and spirit. Sweet Orange Oil makes the natural scent even more delicious, while glycerin conditions and softens the skin. This shower gel is a beautiful way to get clean every morning.

When it comes to bath time, I absolutely love the Balneotherapy Salts ($10.99) from Faith Aromatherapy’s Apothecary remedy products. They have five different types of bath salts available, including Keep Your Peace, Just Breathe, Be Flexible, Flu Prevention Ginger, and Awaken Your Senses.  My choice is Just Breathe.

Faith Aromatherapy Just Breathe Bath Salts

Faith Aromatherapy Balneotherapy Bath Salts in Just Breathe

Just Breathe has an awesome combination of eucalyptus and sweet orange essential oils. Along with the epsom salts, the combo clears my stuffy nose like nothing else. It also helps to ease aching muscles and sea salt is fabulous for clearing your energy and getting yourself back into spiritual alignment. This is strong stuff and it is perfect for when colds or allergies strike.

Faith Aromatherapy Hand Soap

Faith Aromatherapy Lemongrass/Fennel Moisture Rich Sanitizing Hand Soap

soapy goodness

soapy goodness

Last but not least, the Lemongrass/Fennel Moisture Rich Sanitizing Hand and Body Wash ($9.99) is a wonderful hand soap. It smells citrusy and clean thanks to the essential oils and Olive Leaf Extract. I wash my hands all the time and many soaps leave them parched. This one never does, and it smells so good – and that fragrance is what helps protect hands from germs, fungus, and bacteria.

Faith Aromatherapy is a wonderful line, particularly if you are into essential oils and the mind/body/spirit connection. They also have body scrubs, body lotions and creams, and natural deodorant. Plus, in the Apothecary you can fill out a questionnaire and they will make a custom blended essential oil just for you. Check it out and get calm, healthy, and happy!  – Lisa
