May I show you my Ipsy bag?

Ipsy for May 2014

Ipsy for May 2014

I don’t always write about my Ipsy bags especially if I can’t get to them quickly. It’s such a popular subscription since it’s only $10 (including shipping) and you always get more than your money’s worth. As with all subscription services, some months are better than others. While I like my bag for the month, I can’t say it overwhelmed me.

Ipsy usually has about a dozen different items that they put in bags. You do fill out a “profile” of sorts and they are decent about putting items in that you say you’d use.

Here’s what Ipsy decided to send me this month:

Avene Thermal Spring Water

Avene Thermal Spring Water

1. My favorite item!! AVENE THERMAL SPRING WATER. I’m not sure everyone would be as happy with this as I am. I use this product for a variety of things for example this is how I wet my Beauty Blender sponge. I also spritz myself off to cool down since it can be so refreshing. This 1.76 size sells for $9.00 so I’ve basically paid for my bag and this is just the first item!

Boo-Boo Cover Up

2. BOO-BOO COVER UP – When I first learned about this concealer I wanted to try it but that didn’t happen and then I forgot about it.

Boo-Boo Cover Up in Medium

This isn’t the concealer you’d use under your eyes or to cover up a typical spot, instead it’s a healing concealer. It’s made with ingredients to help with bites, scabs, scratches, acne. It contains green tea, aloe vera, vitamin E, chamomille and tea tree oil. The container is 0.34 oz/10 mL which sells for $19.99 on their website. I wish they’d sent it in Light but the Medium should be useful.

BALANCED GURU HAIR OIL

BALANCED GURU HAIR OIL

3. BALANCED GURU HAIR OIL – I’m not sure if I’ll use this actually since I have hair oils from Coolway and Redken that I really love so this will probably be in one of our giveaways. Then again I did get the No Frizz version (they sell 2 others) so I just might change my mind as all women have the prerogative to do at any moment. This 0.5 oz size sells for $13. We are definitely ahead of the game now!!

HANG TEN Natural sunscreen with SPF 50

4. HANG TEN Natural sunscreen with SPF 50 – I can’t complain about an SPF 50 sunscreen in a size small enough to put in any bag. Hang Ten is made by Coola just in case that packaging looks familiar. The size is 1 oz while a full size ($12.99) is 6 oz., making the value just over $2.

PACIFICA EYESHADOW DUO 2

PACIFICA EYESHADOW DUO 2

5. PACIFICA EYESHADOW DUO 2 – At first I was very excited to see this in my bag. I love eyeshadow and I’ve never tried Pacifica, nor will I after reading other reviews. The consensus seems to be that this isn’t very pigmented. So as pretty as this purple and sparkly ivory duo appears to be, it’s not going to be mine. I’ll either put it in as an extra in a BIZ giveaway or put it in with the new items I give to charity. The only price I found for this is $3.92 but I’m not sure if that’s correct.

The theme this month is Fresh Picks and the makeup bag the items came in is the freshest pick of the month. It’s a nice canvas bag rather than the typical plastic so it’s more down to earth. I ended up with $42 worth of goodies for myself or to share so this was a good month value wise.

I pay for my own subscription and I do have a question for the rest of you who do too. How in the world do I let them know I want to cash in my points for an extra next month? I’ve been a good girl and done the reviews and a few of you have been kind enough to purchase through my referral link, now what do I do to use those points? Thanks.– Marcia

Avene Dermo-K – buy it for him, then steal it for yourself!

The perfect product to buy for your husband/SO/brother/dad because you are such a thoughtful, amazing wife/girlfriend/sister/daughter? Avene Dermo-K.

The perfect product to then steal for yourself?? Yup. Avene Dermo-K.

Avene

Avene Dermo-K…made for a man, perfect for a woman!

Avene Dermo-K ($27, but you can often find it cheaper at online sites like Dermstore) is a perfect solution for ingrown hairs. If the man in your life suffers from skin irritation due to shaving, he will love this. It softens the skin and hair so ingrowns heal much faster. It’s also cleansing so it reduces any chance of infection. Plus, it has no fragrance, no parabans, it’s hypo-allergenic and non-comedogenic so it’s great for even extremely sensitive skin.

It’s billed as shaving care for men and it’s in the Avene Men’s Skincare section…but you will want this for yourself. Just smooth this on to any ingrown hairs at night and in the morning your problem will be a thing of the past. Apply it regularly and you will prevent any ingrowns from happening in the first place.

You can find Avene at various online skin care sites, as well as at dermatologist offices and local spas.  – Lisa
