Side by Side with Cargo Cosmetics

Beauty Info Zone has done several reviews for Cargo Cosmetics. It’s a great brand that doesn’t get quite enough attention in our opinion. We can list so many items though that we highly recommend. Just as an example Lisa went a little bit big time nuts over their Magic Brush and created lemmings galore for the brush. Marcia on the other hand couldn’t stop raving about Cargo blushes with their amazing pigmentation.

Today we’re taking a slightly different road with Cargo and talking about how they help us create a perfect finish to our faces. Cargo has some great foundations, concealers, primers and powders. Today you’ll get your beauty info about two of these products.

Marcia’s side:

I had the opportunity to use Cargo OneBase™, one of Cargo’s biggest sellers worldwide. This is a two in one product since it’s both concealer and foundation depending on your particular needs.  It’s recommended to be used as a concealer wherever you have small imperfections that you want to subtly conceal. It can be used under your eyes, around your nose, or around your lips to spot conceal. There’s a very slight glow to it so I especially like it under my eyes to brighten them up later in the day when I don’t want to reapply makeup but I do want to freshen up. It comes in 7 shades so you don’t have to worry that you won’t find one that will be perfect for you.

I mentioned that Cargo OneBase™ is also a foundation. It’s a lightweight foundation so it’s not going to give you heavy duty coverage. It’s not a tinted moisturizer though, it has more coverage than that. I like this kind of coverage when it’s warm or slightly cool out because it allows my skin to breathe without being too covered up. While I’m not using it at home in the dead of winter as a foundation, I’m still using it as a concealer.

There are two aspects of Cargo OneBase™ that really stand out for me – there’s no fragrance (thank you Cargo!!!) and the first ingredient is water. I prefer a water based formula when the weather is warmer since it won’t slide off my face in an ugly oily pool of color. I’m happy to take my Cargo with me wherever I go! — Marcia

Lisa’s Side:

Cargo High Definition Mattifier

While Cargo is known for terrific color products, I think the High Definition Mattifier ($28) is a hidden treasure in this line.  I use this by itself on no makeup days to keep shine away, and it works great under makeup as well.  I have a very, very shiny nose, as well as oil issues on my chin and forehead.  I find I certainly do blot less when I use this, although it doesn’t stop the need for blotting altogether. And, of course, I love the hygenic squeeze tube.

At first, I was taken aback by the brown color of this mattifier.  However, the color completely disappears when it’s smoothed into my skin.  The formula has a very silky texture that goes on wet but dries quickly when applied.  Below is the swatch above smoothed onto my hand.

You can see how it leaves no color, and it evens out skin texture.  It makes pores far less noticeable.  This product is even perfect for men who don’t want to wear makeup but also want better looking skin, really it’s great for anyone except the extremely oily.  Whether you are traveling somewhere exotic or just running around town, this can certainly be your go-to mattifying primer.  – Lisa
