It’s August 15th, National Relaxation Day! I’m so glad we have a reminder to relax, because it is all too easy to get caught up in your job, your kids, your bills, your house, all those responsibilities…and totally forget to take care of YOU. I always go back to this analogy – if you are traveling on an airplane with a child and the cabin loses pressure so those air masks come down, do you put that mask on the child or yourself first? You put it on yourself first, because if you don’t take care of yourself, you might not be able to take care of anyone else.
Take this day to do something really nice for yourself and RELAX. I have three fabulous suggestions for you that will ease away every bit of stress and tension. Light a candle, make a nice hot cup of tea, and then soak in a fabulous bubble bath – aaaahhhhh………yes!
First up – some beautiful mood lighting. My go-to candles are Molton Brown Single Wick Candles ($49). The candles come in a handsome jar that looks sophisticated and lush. They are available in amazing scents, including Delicious Rhubarb & Rose, Black Peppercorn, Pink Pepperpod, Coco & Sandalwood, Black Leather Accord & Cade, Dewy Lily of the Valley & Star Anise, Orange & Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Rosa Absolute, Gingerlily, Oudh Accord & Gold and Tobacco Absolute.
Molton Brown candles are not one note affairs. They offer complex scents that are truly delightful. As Molton Brown describes it, the scents start with a bright top note, followed by a complex middle note, then end with a haunting base note. I am currently burning the Rosa Absolute scent, and the complexity of this is fantastic. Top notes are blackcurrent, pink pepper, and raspberry. Heart notes are rose, violet leaf, and geranium. Base notes are patchouli, labdanum and vanilla. It is an incredible, relaxing scent that is perfection for National Relaxation Day.
Now that you have some mood lighting, next up is a nice, hot cup of tea. I can’t tell you how much I am loving WelleCo Sleep Welle Fortified Calming Tea ($69). The Tea Caddy, which I have pictured, has 50 tea bags and you can buy refills separately. This tea is so fantastic, especially if you have trouble getting to sleep at night. The ingredients include skullcap, valerian root and hops, combined with lemon balm, passionflower and natural lemon and mango flower. The tea is so soothing and mild, slightly fruity and absolutely delightful. It is incredibly relaxing and the perfect tea for melting away the day and creating total relaxation.
Now that you have an amazing candle and a perfect cup of tea, what else do you need? Why, a fabulous bubble bath of course! Nothing beats relaxing sore muscles and soaking away every bit of tension in a nice, frothy sea of warmth. Soap & Paper Factory Luxe Bubble Bath ($32) is a fantastic choice. It comes in fab scents, including Gardenia, Jasmine, Green Tea, Tuberose, Neroli, Marine, Santal and Vanille, Lavender and Lemon Verbena.
Mine is Neroli, which is a lovely pure orange blossom scent that is comforting and relaxing. The bubbles are delightfully frothy and really last and skin is left feeling super soft and wonderfully pampered thanks to the key ingredients, borage and meadowfoam. If you love bubble baths, this huge jar of sulfate free bubble bath is exactly what you want sitting next to your tub.
I hope you are able to try out these three products because I really think they are all outstanding. But whatever you do, take good care of yourself today and show yourself the love you deserve. RELAX. You have earned it. – Lisa
