An introduction to Naturally Me plus a giveaway

naturally me

At Beauty Info Zone we are always eager to learn about brands that are new to us. We consider it a bonus when the brand is one that wants to pay it forward. Naturally Me is that kind of brand. It was founded by Chaundra Smith as a small way to give back to the customers and community that support the business. She began a scholarship program, Single Parents Scholarship, in 2013 and has been able to up the amount of money given to $1,000 per recipient because as she says: $1000 may not seem like much, but to someone who is trying to support a family with only one income, it feels like a million.”  To raise that money $2 from the sale of their most coveted products, All Over Butter, is given to the scholarship.

As if that’s not enough

Naturally Me believes in the importance of community involvement.  We created our Naturally Me Cares program as a part of the company’s commitment to giving back to the community.  Through Naturally Me Cares, we supply body care products to two homes for homeless single moms in our area, we provide an annual scholarship program to single parents that attend our local community college and we also have a Random Acts of Kindness program where we do small acts of kindness to put smiles on peoples face.

We admire Chaundra Smith for this kind of care and are thrilled that she sent us a few products to test and for a giveaway.

MARCIA uses LEMONGRASS OATMEAL SOAP and PEACH PIE DESSERT SOY CANDLE

Naturally Me Lemongrass Oatmeal Soap and Peach Pie Dessert Soy Candle

Naturally Me created their skincare products for people with dry and/or sensitive skin. That’s what makes the Lemongrass Oatmeal Soap unique. All products are free of animal byproducts, parabens, mineral oil, petroleum & artificial fragrances. The Lemongrass Oatmeal Soap (set of 3, $15.99) also is available in Unscented and Cinnamon Lime).

This is made with gluten free oatmeal as well as water, coconut oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, shea butter, vegetable shortening, castor oil, and essential oils. The Lemongrass scent is so refreshing. It’s not overwhelming at all and gives my hands and bathroom an uplifting lemon fragrance. The lemongrass oatmeal is noted to be great for acne prone skin while the unscented is safe enough for babies and children. This lathers nicely and doesn’t leave any stickiness behind. It’s a great natural soap.

Naturally Me has done what no other brand has ever been able to do – use a candle. Way back in my hippy dippy days I burned candles and incense but when I realized that they contributed to my migraines I stopped and backed away from anything scented. When this Peach Pie Dessert Soy Candle landed in my mail, I took one sniff and was sold. I’m crazy about the scent of this. It’s not artificial at all, it smells like a fresh peach pie (one of my husband’s passions). I can happily sit with this unburnt on my desk and be as thrilled as when I actually lit it.

There are 4 different fragrances in the soy candles ($15): Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Blueberry Cheesecake. $2 from each sale of candles will go towards Naturally Me’s Single Parents Scholarship Fund.  A deserving student attending Durham Technical Community College will be the recipient of the scholarship.

If this Peach Pie candle is an example of what candles are like then I’m going to be in trouble!

LISA uses LAVENDER BATH TREATS and ALL OVER BUTTER

Naturally Me Lavender Bath Treat and All Over Butter
Naturally Me Lavender Bath Treat and All Over Butter

I am a bath girl. I love a long, relaxing bath, reading a book or magazine, candles burning…aaahhhhh. The Naturally Me Lavender Bath Treat was big enough for several wonderful baths, but I don’t see it on the website. I do see Bath Bombs ($15.99) which look like essentially the same thing since Naturally Me is switching over to these new Bath Treats.

Naturally Me Lavender Bath Treat – look at all that beautiful natural lavender!

The Lavender Bath Treat has many of the same ingredients as the Bath Bombs, including baking soda, corn starch, citric acid, shea butter, and gluten-free oatmeal. It also has a blend of salts and lots of natural lavender.

The Bath Treat doesn’t create bubbles for your bath, but it does soften the water and leave skin so hydrated and moisturized. The oatmeal is a wonderful skin softener, and lavender calms tension, soothes muscle aches, and relieves headaches.

Sometimes lavender products are just too strong for me…the scent can be overpowering. The Bath Treat does have a citrus/lavender scent, but it’s very mild and just beautiful, probably one of my favorite lavender scents ever.

Other scents include Oatmeal Soy Milk, Cocoa Butter Delight, and Grapefruit Basil.

Naturally Me All Over Butter
Naturally Me All Over Butter

After a wonderfully relaxing bath, the Naturally Me All Over Butter ($16.99 for 3 oz, $22.99 for 6.5 oz) is the icing on the cake. What is really great about this wonderfully hydrating body butter is it has no fragrance at all, so it’s perfect for everyone. This is a solid moisturizer that melts into skin on contact. Ingredients include shea butter, aloe, coconut oil, avocado, grape seed oil, hemp oil, sunflower and safflower seed oils, and vitamin E, a veritable rainbow of ingredients that lead to beautiful, glowy skin.

If you have very dry, sensitive skin, the All Over Butter is definitely your skin savior!

I don’t really use anything at the present moment. Maybe just the occasional lotion.

  3. Mary W | 12th Jun 16

I am currently using Perlier Shea Butter in Almond and for rough areas I use Amlactin products. Amlactin really helps my cracked heels and scaly part of my feet. I really do prefer using a Made in the USA product and Naturally Me could be a contender. On the website and blog, I could not find where Naturally Me is produced.

  4. beautyin | 12th Jun 16

@MaryW, I’ll ask the company about where it’s produced but I think it’s Durham, NC where they are located.
