Tarte Amazon Escape Amazonian Clay Eye and Cheek Palette review and swatches

Tarte has done it again.  I swear they take the prize for palettes – they always come up with great color combinations in super cute packaging with a fantastic price.  Just check out the Amazon Escape Amazonian Clay Eye and Cheek Palette, a $142 value that sells for $44 at Ulta.

Amazonian Clay Eye and Cheek Palette – and a cute clutch, too.

It’s cute, trendy clutch, and it has a nice big mirror inside.
There isn’t any room for brushes, unfortunately.  It’s a little bit heavy for a palette, but the products are big.  You won’t be running out of any of the color items any time soon, that’s for sure.
I like that there is a combination of matte and shimmer products.  The colors are nicely neutral with enough ‘oomph’ to go from a more natural look to a more dramatic one.
This is a very practical palette.  You get two big blushes and six eyeshadows.  All this for only $44?  It really is a great value.  The products are made with Tarte’s signature Amazonian Clay, which is great for the skin, especially if you tend to be a bit oily.

Free and Exposed. Interesting combination of names!!

The brand new blush shades are Free and Exposed, a combination of names that immediately brings to mind Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl.    Free is a slightly shimmery coral, it is just beautiful.  Exposed is a more muted, natural rose color.

Tarte’s powder blushes are incredibly long wearing, they are some of the only powder blushes that actually last longer than an hour or two on me.  I was just thrilled to see two new shades, hooray!

The eyeshadows are nicely pigmented, buttery soft, and on the powdery side.  The lasting power is very nice.  I have super oily eyelids, but with a primer my 5:30 a.m. application still looks nice and crease-free at 5 pm.  I particulary like the formula of the matte shades, they go on very silky without looking dry or patchy.  Here are the shades with swatches:

Tame

Tame swatched

Tame is a shimmery light yellow cream.  It makes a great lid or brow color.

Rope

Rope swatch

Rope is a matte beige shade that leans toward pink, but it’s very light.

Canopy

Canopy swatch

Canopy is just gorgeous, it’s a chocolate brown with multi-colored shimmer.

Rare and Camo

Rare swatch

Rare is a matte peach that really brightens the eye.

Camo swatch

Camo is a light copper with green shimmer – gawjus!!

Tribal

Tribal swatch

Tribal is also just beautiful.  It’s a deep shimmery plum that sheers out beautifully, or can be packed on for some major drama.

Overall, this is a terrific palette.  It’s a perfect one if you don’t have any Tarte palettes yet, and it’s great for both day and night looks.  Head on over to Sephora to take a look!  – Lisa

  6. Just wait til you see Call of the Wild. It’s amazing. Review upcoming.

  7. This looks like it would be very usable palette! I have a couple of the AC blushes that I really like! I’m surprised to see the reuse a blush name already – especially since it is in the same formula. Maybe this Exposed will only be in this palette?
