I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize in advance for temptation. Today’s temptation is brought to you via Senna Cosmetics specifically Senna’s Haute Nudes’ Eye & Face Palette in Mystic. This is the sister to the beautiful Sultry palette that Lisa recently reviewed. While Sultry is on the warmer side, Mystic is on the cooler side. Both give you beautiful looks for day and night.
Mystic’s palette layout is the same as Sultry’s – 6 eyeshadows, 1 highlighter, 1 blush and 3 applicators. There’s also a great booklet that describes how to use these shades for subtle or dramatic looks. Most of the time I ignore these thinking I know just as much myself, but this time it’s a handy tutorial with two great explanations of looks.
Normally when we think of nudes, brown shades come to mind, but with Mystic you get cool nudes. It combines both shimmer and velvety matte eyeshadows in the palette.
The top row of shadows are Diamond, Halo and Dusk. Diamond is just like it sounds, a bright white with just enough shimmer to make it glow. Halo is a light sparkling lavender and Dusk is a cool toned taupe.
The bottom row contains Dream, Eclipse and Black Magic. Dream is a truly beautiful very sparkly taupe. It’s the night version of Dusk. It’s best to pat this shade on rather than brush it on or the sparkles travel. Eclipse is a matte plum while Black Magic is obviously black and can be used well as eyeliner or shadow.
The highlighter is a sweet light pink called Charm while the blush is a beauty called First Blush. These are all unique to the Mystic palette. First Blush is a rosy pink that looks beautiful on my cool, fair skin. It’s not so light though that it would disappear on a darker skintone. The highlighter, Charm, is soft and innocent while giving a light pink glow that’s subtle. It can also be used on your browbone to add a little more coolness to your look.
There’s nothing in the palette that is out of place. These are soft, blendable shades that aren’t powdery. There’s no season to the palette which makes it perfect year round. It would be a great palette to keep in your cosmetic bag since it would help you change from day to night with ease.
Now here’s some really great news – purchasing either of the Haute Nudes palettes currently still gets you a free Lip Sync Lipstick & Gloss duo of your choice. These retail for $24 while the Haute Nudes sell for $48. That’s quite a bonus.
Temptation means something that tempts, entices or allures. Senna Haute Nudes Mystic does all three and quite well at that. I hope you’ve been enticed enough to check Mystic or Sultry out. — Marcia
