Getting sultry with Senna Haute Nudes Sultry Palette

Haute, nude, and sultry…sounds interesting!

Senna Haute Nude Sultry Palette

One of the most beautiful palettes in the new holiday collections comes from Senna Cosmetics.  There are two palettes:  Haute Nudes Mystic, which has cool tones, and Haute Nudes Sultry, which has warm tones.  I am reviewing Sultry, Marcia will have Mystic for you in a future review.

Sultry is one stunning palette.

What a gorgeous look!

The Sultry Palette ($48) has six eyeshadows, one blush, and one highlighter.  It also has a nice mirror and three mini brushes, plus the Get the Look Booklet with two different looks.  And it’s a great time to get this palette, because Senna is running a great promotion right now – a free Lip Sync Lipstick and Lipgloss duo with every Haute Nudes Palette.

The palette is a sleek, chic golden metal with the Senna logo in the middle.

golden goodness

The Sultry Palette is all about ivory, coral, and brown shades.

perfect shades for fall

One thing about Senna palettes that doesn’t get mentioned a whole lot are the mirrors – this palette has an excellent mirror!  I rarely use my palette mirrors because I use a lighted one to apply my makeup, but when I need a mirror I find myself grabbing this palette.  It’s the perfect size.

So pretty!

The colors are warm and excellent for fall and winter.

Sunkissed highlighter

The Sunkissed highlighter is a shimmery, very light peach champagne.  I like to brush this lightly over my whole face and neck, it really brightens the complexion beautifully.

Passion blush

The Passion blush is a coral that isn’t too orange, so it’s very wearable.  It gives a healthy, natural look.

Swatched above are the blush and the highlighter.

New Moon, Sand, Tiger Lily

The top row of eyeshadows are from left to right:  New Moon, ivory; Sand, light camel brown; and Tiger Lily, a warm reddish-brown.

They are all matte shades, but they have a creamy texture and aren’t too powdery.  New Moon is a terrific brow and highlighter shade, and Sand is my favorite lid shade.

Palomino, Tigress, Havana

The bottom row of eyeshadows are Palomino, a deeper reddish-brown with slight shimmer; Tigress, a shimmery golden brown; and Havana, a matte deep brown.

I love all the shades, there isn’t a bad one in the group.  While none of the shades are unusual, they are all nicely pigmented and it’s an excellent array of colors that all play together perfectly.  You can create a very subtle, natural look, or go deeper for a more dramatic look.  Havana in particular is quite dark and works as a liner shade.  It reminds me of Bobbi Brown Mahogany.

Also included in the set are three mini brushes:  a blush/highlighter brush, a dual ended eyeshadow brush with a sponge tip on one side, and a dual ended liner brush.

The blush/highlighter brush is pretty useless, it’s so soft it doesn’t pick up or distribute color well.  I like the other two brushes, especially the liner brush.  One side has a thicker liner brush than the other, but both are very firm and line quite well.

Get the Look Booklet

The Get the Look Booklet is great, it has a diagram of the palette colors, step by step instructions, plus a photo of the look with the numbers from the instructions.

How to get this subtle but sultry look

It’s kind of like those paint by numbers pictures.  It certainly makes creating the looks easy.

color by numbers for a dramatic sultry look!

This palette is a winner.  The shades are gorgeous, the pigmentation is great, and it even has a few brushes in it.  This is a kit to take with you on vacation or keep in your desk at work.  Great job Senna!  I am really looking forward to reading what Marcia has to say about the Mystic Palette.  – Lisa

  1. I keep looking at these palettes on the Senna website and admit I get weak in the knees because they are “nude” palettes. And anything named nude gets to me. I definitely need to put these on my wishlist.

  2. Olivia, you really should go for it. It’s a stunning and versatile palette. I would love to see what you could do with these colors on your blog and on Into the Palette!
