You know what drives me crazy? A single blush. Palettes have spoiled me. I have too many single blushes knocking around in my makeup drawer, taking up valuable space. Instead of searching through all the singles to find the right shade for the day, I like a good palette with several options all at once.
Butter London has two pre-made blush palettes called the BlushClutch ($39), one with three warm colors (Simply Sweet) and one with three cool colors (Just Darling). They also have several single blush shades ($15 each) that you can switch out for any of the colors, and those three blushes are the ones I am reviewing today. PR samples
Overall, these powder blushes have a beautiful texture and are long-wearing. Other positive points:
Ruby Powder and Pepper Tree Extract help bring out a natural flush.
True color payoff with micronized pigments.
Primer infused for all day wear.
Creamy, velvety texture for smooth application.
Universal for any skin tone.
The first single blush is Tiger Lily, which is a bright peach blush.
I typically stay away from warmer colors on my cheeks because I think they make me look sallow, but this is such a pretty peach! It’s a strong color so you don’t need much of it. A great tip is to first apply a little cream blush in a contrasting color, like raspberry or a blue/red. It gives a great base for the warmer powder blush, helping it last even longer and toning down both warmth and coolness.
The second shade is Violet, a bright lavender blush.
I thought this was going to be almost neon and take me straight back to the 1980’s, but Violet is a gorgeous pinky-purple that is subtle but buildable. I think this is my favorite of the three shades. It’s so feminine and pretty and just perfect for spring.
The third single shade is Hibiscus, a bubblegum pink blush.
This is a beautiful workhorse pink blush. You want a great pink shade that works for both day and night? Here you go. Like Violet it’s buildable and goes from sheer and natural to strong and dramatic. This is a terrific neutral pink that would look good on just about anyone.
If you just want one color, then go ahead, use it as a single blush…but why not go the BlushClutch route and have them all at your fingertips? I think it sounds like the perfect excuse to do just a little more shopping! – Lisa
