You are going to love Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush (giveaway alert)

There’s a very good reason that people are raving about Tarte’s new line of blushes: Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush ($25). They are fantastic. The colors are just gorgeous and the blushes are among the best out there.

What I’ve found with blushes is that they can look beautiful going on but if they don’t stay on, there’s no value to them. We don’t want an hour or two’s worth of blush. We want to be confident that what we put on before leaving the house each day will still be on when we get home. Tarte makes the promise of these lasting 12 hours and they are pretty darn accurate. These just don’t fade on me, not even the lighter colors.

Here’s a recap of the wonders of Amazonian Clay: this is a natural clay which is harvest from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun. “Amazonian clay, a nutrient-rich, multitasking, skin-balancing clay that reduces dryness and flakiness, improves skin clarity, elasticity, firmness and texture while removing oil from the skin’s surface for smooth application and wear” (quoted from Sephora.com)

These have qualities that are great for oily, dry or combination skin. If you have oily skin the clay helps minimize the oil around your pores to help make the color last. If you have dry skin they say you’ll enjoy the hydrating properties of the clay to help restore moisture. And if you have combination skin then it will zero in on your skin’s concerns to help restore harmony. Hmmm… since I don’t have all three types of skin I can’t speak to all of this. Basically my cheeks are dry so I was looking to see about the hydrating properties of these blushes. I’ve only been wearing these for about 10 days now and I don’t see any extra hydration but I honestly didn’t expect it. What I do see though are some gorgeous colors that have amazing pigmentation and lasting power. I never have to touch up when wearing these.

These come in 8 beautiful shades ranging from light to dark, from soft to vivid. Beauty Info Zone has been able to test out 7 of these shades (and we have a surprise for you!!)

Here’s the shade descriptions from Sephora (they are exlusive to Sephora.com) along with my photos which run bright. Take everything down a notch in your brain when viewing please.

Amused: bright pink

Blushing Bride: plummy rose

Flush: deep berry

Natural Beauty: muted strawberry red

Blissful: warm peach

Tipsy: coral

Exposed: nude

Dollface: light pink (not shown)

Let me tell you that these blushes are fabulous. They will make you want to put every other blush away and just wear these. They are extremely pigmented though so you need to use a light hand or it’s easy to overdo them on fair skin.

It’s hard to pick favorites because I love them all but my biggest surprise was Exposed. The blush is described as nude and looks like it would be sort of plain on my cheeks but it gives me the most natural look – there’s a slight mauve undertone to it so it doesn’t look brown on me. I’ve been told by Makeup Artists that when your skin has a lot of redness that it’s good to use a slightly browner blush and this proves them right.

I also love both Tipsy and Blissful. I don’t normally buy coral blush but the coral of Tipsy is so flattering. Blissful is similar but a little more peach. Here’s a swatch of Blissful on my hand: With ORANGE being the hot color this spring you are going to want to see if one of these two are right for you.

You can’t go wrong with any of these blushes. I’ve read that they have shimmer but I didn’t notice it at all, not even in a 10x mirror. These don’t settle into my pores but they have settled into my heart! — Marcia
