Walking on the wild side with Lipstick Queen

Lipstick Queen
I recently went a little crazy with an Ulta order and decided to walk on the wild side with Lipstick Queen. I ordered four of the craziest colors I could find to add something fun and different to my lippie collection: Frog Prince, Ice Queen, Hey Sailor Lip Gloss, and Seven Deadly Sins Lip Gloss in Decadence.

Lipstick Queen Frog Prince

Frog Prince ($25) is, as any self-respecting frog would be, green. But only initially. Once applied, this turns from frog into prince as it interacts with your body heat and chemistry. This lipstick keeps lips soft and kiss-worthy with vitamin E and shea butter. I find it actually works like a stain too, and is very long-lasting. I swatched this on a few friends and it was different on everyone…and everyone loved their own particular shade.

Lipstick Queen Ice Queen

Ice Queen ($24) looks like it will apply as an opaque white, but it’s actually a sheer, softly shimmering silver and gold illuminator. Used alone, it gives some depth and shine to lips. It’s amazing over any lipstick shade as well. I use this all the time. It’s one of those lippies that effectively doubles your lipstick wardrobe.

Lipstick Queen Hey Sailor Lip Gloss

Hey Sailor Lip Gloss ($25) gets some funny looks when I take it out of my bag. It doesn’t turn lips blue; it morphs into a berry shade with pearly shimmer. The blue shimmer actually makes teeth look whiter, which is pretty cool. I love that this gloss isn’t sticky at all. It’s actually more like a serum, with great slip and moisture. The formula has omega-3 rich algae, meadowfoam seed oil and shea butter.

Seven Deadly Sins Lip Gloss ($24) is definitely sinful. It has a thick, nonsticky texture that gives lots of shine. I am not sure if I love it, though – it’s tough to get the right amount of gloss. I typically get too much and it can collect in the corners of my mouth, which is NOT a good look. And it wears off pretty quickly.  I love the color of Decadence, which is a pretty deep pink, but the application and wear issues are problematic enough that I won’t be purchasing any other shades.

If you are thinking about taking a walk on the wild side, I heartily recommend being an Ice Queen, kissing a Frog Prince, and then really getting nautical with Hello Sailor!  – Lisa

  1. I passed on Hello Sailor because I already have a color changing lipstick from another brand that I was psyched to get but now seldom wear. I do love Lipstick Queen. I’ve got Aloha, a great translucent red for everyday wear, and gorgeous Candy, an opaque candy pink gloss. I’m dying to get one of the lipsticks in the elegant retro square metal tubes.

  2. Isn’t the Lux Collection gorgeous? I put Aloha and Candy on my list for next time!

  3. I love Lipstick Queen, and these are just so much fun! I have been wanting to get Frog Prince for a while, but Decadence Lip Gloss is really calling my name!

  4. I’m just starting to get into makeup more and Frog Prince gas peeked my interest. It just looks like a lot of fun

  7. Although these are all gorgeous, I tend to keep the wild colors on my nails only!

  8. I haven’t tried this brand yet, but everything looks really nice! It’s so cool that the green turns pink!

  9. I had morphing lipsticks when I was younger, I think they were called mood lipstick/ I may have to try either Hey Sailor or Frog Prince out.

  10. I almost picked up Ice Queen, but now I’m regretting not getting it! I love that shimmery finish!

  11. This sounds like such a fun lippie. I love the color.

  12. Wow what fun products! How cool that Frog Prince turns pink on the lip!!

  13. That Frog Prince color is WAY too cool! I think I need to buy it…just for the surprise factor when people see green and then it goes pinky on my lips 😛

  15. Frog Prince looks awesome, going to check it out on my next trip to Ulta!

  16. I love the art on this packaging! I’m in love with all of the products though! I was freaked out by Frog Prince until I saw that it shifted in colors!
