The wonders of Cupuaçu and Klorane – part one

No need to go expensive when looking for science-based botanical body products.  You can find excellent cleansing and moisturizing items in the drugstore with plant-based ingredients, like the ones from the cult favorite Klorane line.  Klorane’s beautiful body products take great care of your skin without breaking the bank!  They have some incredible products in their line that feature Cupuaçu butter, something that leaves shea butter in the dust. I tested three of the Klorane Cupuaçu products for review today, and Marcia has a few to tell you about tomorrow.samples affiliate links

Klorane Nourishing Shower Gel

The HIBISCUS FLOWER SHOWER GEL WITH CUPUAÇU BUTTER (6.7 OZ. $14) is a lovely body wash that features organic Cupuaçu butter.  Cupuaçu butter has lots of Omega-6 and 9, and is actually one and half times more nourishing for skin than shea butter, so this is an extremely moisturizing shower gel.  The hibiscus fragrance is light and sweet, and it is very pleasant but doesn’t linger.  The notes include hibiscus flower, honeysuckle, and peony .  I find this shower gel to be a wonderfully gentle soap-free cleanser that leaves my skin soft and hydrated.

The YUZU INFUSION CREAM SOAP WITH CUPUAÇU BUTTER ($8) is a really lovely bar soap that I am enjoying as a hand soap in my main floor bathroom.  It’s a very creamy bar soap that is quite gentle and hydrating, thanks to the Cupuaçu butter with all the Omega-6 and 9, which we also now know is one and half times more nourishing for skin than shea butter.  The Yuzu Cream Soap has a beautiful lather and the scent is a really unique citrus with notes of Yuzu peel zest, neroli, and aquatic moss.  It’s a gorgeous subtle, clean scent.

  • Soap-free cleansing base. Biodegradable
  • Naturally moisturizes, conditions and soothes the skin
  • Neutral pH helps retain skins natural moisture barrier
  • Rich lather cleanses without drying out skin
  • Notes of Yuzu peel zest, Neroli, and Aquatic moss
  • High skin tolerance
  • 97% natural formula**

The FIG LEAF BODY LOTION WITH CUPUAÇU BUTTER (6.7 OZ $16) has the same organic Cupuaçu butter as the bar soap and the shower gel, this time in a lovely lightweight body lotion.  This lotion is light but it packs the same punch as a heavy-duty moisturizer without any greasiness or major wait time for wetness or tackiness to go away.  My skin is incredibly soft and moist for hours after application.  The fig fragrance is delightful – sweet but not too sweet.  Notes are fig, freesia blossom, and white tea.

Overall I am super impressed with all of the products featuring Cupuaçu butter.  I do find that it is more moisturizing and more effective than shea butter in everything, from shower gel to bar soap to body lotion.  I love the three scents from Klorane as well, with the Yuzu being the most intriguing.  Right now is great time to order from Klorane online – they have a special running, get a free Shampoo with Peony with your order.  Or you can also find Klorane at Ulta.  Happy shopping, and be sure to come back tomorrow to see what Marcia has to say about the Klorane products she tested!  – Lisa

Something even better than shea butter, wow! Now I have to try Cupuaçu butter. And this looks like a good product line that I can afford.

Years ago, when I first started traveling to Europe on business, I used to bring back Klorane haircare products. I loved them, and at that time, they were both hard to find and expensive to buy in the US. How wonderful that they are here now! In fact, I didn’t know about the body products. Count me in!

The only Klorane products I’ve tried have been hair care. The bar soap sounds nice, as also the body lotion. Is the latter paraben-free?

  14. Nina Kapser | 15th Oct 18

I am always on the hunt for new body care items to check out and these sound really nice. I love that they are lightweight, being in the south that is a huge deal breaker.

Cupuaçu butter is something I have not heard about before. I have horribly dry skin in the winer. This line sounds amazing especially if it is more potent than shea butter which I love.

That yuzu soap sounds amazing, yuzu is one of my absolute favorite scents. I may have to snag a bar!
