The Beauty Spotlight Team has a new feature: “Mystery Makeup Bag” and Marcia of Beauty Info Zone is starting it off. In two weeks another member of our team will be sharing what they have hidden away, good or bad, inside their purse. We hope you enjoy learning what treasures we keep with us on a daily basis.
My current cosmetic bag was a gift from my friend Mag of Makeup Stash in Singapore. I think she was swayed by the pretty pink and the heart when she sent it my way with a few other surprises. What you see in my summer makeup bag weighs an astounding 8.6 oz/244 g. And here I thought I traveled light! It’s not always quite this full but if I’m going out for a long day this is what you’ll find this summer.
First up is Darac Sifted Blur powder along with a mini MAC 181 SE kabuki that was part of a Nordstrom Anniversary kit. Sifted Blur is one of my favorite powders and has replaced MAC Blot Powder lately. There’s a substantial dent in this.
For blush I’m carrying MAC Pinch Me Gel blush from a few seasons back. I loved it so much I bought two of them. For my fair, cool complexion I find that this works no matter what other colors I’m wearing. It appears as a flush from within and is very natural looking on me. I hope that one day MAC brings this back.

I’ve been carrying around Shu Uemura’s Supreme Shine lipstick in BG 935 since I bought it. It’s one of those lipsticks that I can put on without a mirror. I always feel comfortable in it. When I went to California for the IMATS show recently I added my Rouge Bunny Rouge Scumptiously Devious lipstick to my bag since I feel so good wearing that shade. I also have my one and only (for now) RBR lipgloss in Drunk With Stars since the peachy pink gloss flatters both of these lipsticks.
I always have to have an eyeliner and the easiest to carry is a liquid liner. I’ve been keeping Face Stockholm’s Black Precision Eyeliner in there since it always gives me a perfect line. If I have to touch up with eyeliner (which admittedly isn’t too often) black is the easiest shade to wear with any eyeshadows.
The concealer is MAC Select Moisturecover in NW15 since it’s so reliable. Surprisingly I don’t have YSL Touche Eclat in my bag since I almost always carry it with me ‘just in case’.
Then there are the old reliables – Q Tips aka cotton buds (how ratty are these! Yuck, I must toss them and put in fresh ones); elastics for my hair when the going gets tough and blot papers by Hollywood Fashion Tape. What I find very interesting is that 10 months ago I showed my purse and makeup bag and I realize now that the only item I’m still carrying is the Hollywood blot papers.
I wonder what will be in my makeup bag in 6 months. And I wonder what’s in YOUR makeup bag! – Marcia

Wow, you really come prepared! I need to edit my bag to be more useful. Currently, all I have in there is about 10 lipsticks and glosses and a small tube of eye cream!
Thanks for sharing, Marcia!

Am I nuts if I don’t see that as a lot to carry? The only items I’d drop from your bag (if it were mine) is the blush and the liquid eyeliner, since my eyeliner stays put all day. I think you have a very well edited, useful makeup bag, Marcia. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks for sharing with us!!! I am almost a little disappointed as I thought I would at least see a few eye shadows- after all you are the queen of shadow. Wonderful bag!!! ;O) xoxo
