When you shop for eyeshadow do you often look and say “I’d love that but I don’t like these 2 colors so maybe I shouldn’t buy it” or “If only this palette had a bright purple then it would be perfect”? If you talk to yourself like Marcia and Lisa do then Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Bar Palette is the answer to the questions you’ve asked. Buxom has created a few pre-made palettes that are lovely but what we’re most excited about is that Custom Palette. We were sent two to share with you. These aren’t sold exactly like our pictures because they were created with us in mind.
This Sephora Exclusive is a total bargain too. Bought separately it would cost you $112 but when you purchase the palette and 6 single shadows of your choice it’s only $40. Add 6 of the shades you want on Sephora and you’ll automatically get the palette to put them in.
You get your choice out of 40 Eyeshadow Bar shades and you’ll have trouble deciding on only 6. These shadows have incredible pigmentation and use primer-infused technology to help keep the colors vibrant. They are silky smooth too. You can choose all matte or satin or metallic or a mix of all. Whatever your little heart desires!
If you don’t want to do the work then choose one of the the ones already put together that are in special packaging for the same $40 price. There’s Pastel Persuasion (Feather Boa (matte pastel pink), Famous Flirt (matte pastel peach), Mix & Mingle (matte vanilla), Room Service (iridescent mint), Lacy Chic (matte sky), Jetsetter (matte greige); Dolly’s Wild Side (Silk Sheets (chai luster), Champagne Buzz (shimmering pearl), Lingerie Lover (matte mauve), Mink Magnet (metallic bronze), Spoiled Sexy (matte deep mauve), Wild Nights (shimmering sugar plum); and May Contain Nudity ( Satin Seduction (bisque luster), Gimme Gorgeous (matte camel), Gold Status (metallic brass), Big Spender (matte sable), Haute Couture (metallic java), Style Icon (metallic taupe).
Enough about that… let’s get to the palettes we’ve got!!
We were sent two palettes and lucky me Marcia let me choose. I surprised her by choosing the one with warmer shades. I fell in love with the golden 24K Stilettos and just to had to have it!
The texture of these eyeshadows is buttery goodness. They apply very smoothly and have tons of pigment. The packaging is pretty ingenious. The bar of eyeshadows is made from individual pans that can be popped in and out, so you can not only choose your shades but also rearrange them into any order.
My shades include: DIAMOND DARLING (shimmering frost), STAR TREATMENT (matte hazelnut), 24K STILETTOS (metallic gold), FILTHY RICH (matte chestnut), DESIGNER OR DIE (matte beige), and INVITE ONLY (matte terracotta).
Diamond Darling is very pretty and VERY pigmented. I thought maybe I could use it on my brow but definitely not – too shimmery. It is, however, amazing as a lid shade as well as patted over a matte shade with my finger. Star Treatment is like the perfect crease shade in my world…buttery, matte medium brown.
Oh, can you even believe how gorgeous 24K Stilettos is??? Just a to die for golden metallic with hints of blue and green. Amazing on brown eyes! Filthy Rich is a tad red for my tastes, but wow for a matte shade this has the nicest texture and it blends like a dream.
Designer or Die and Invite Only are both terrific base shades. Invite Only is another favorite of mine in this palette – I use it as a wash with a touch of Designer or Die on my brow, along with some thick black eyeliner for a quick day look.
Overall this palette is a HUGE winner – I love the packaging, the ease of mixing and matching the shades, the texture and pigmentation of the eyeshadows…YAY!!!!!
Out of the two palettes sent to us I ended up with the most colorful one and I’m loving the variety in it.
The shades I have, in the order shown, are PATENT LEATHER (sparkling blackberry), FAUX (iridescent snakeskin), PURE PLATINUM (silver metallic), COOL CAVIAR (shimmering gunmetal), BOLD BLING (metallic rose gold) and GOLD STATUS (metallic brass).
These shadows are incredibly pigmented and they wear all day long on me – seriously, from morning to late at night. I’ve yet to have to touch them up if I’m going out at night. Beside the wonderful shades I find that there’s basically no fall out.
With Patent Leather and Faux I pat them on, I don’t smooth them on. Especially with Faux and its iridescent brown, purple, green shade I’m careful since I don’t want to change the way this can change. I could see that some people would compare this shade to MAC Club but it’s so much prettier. This actually is a true duochrome that looks different depending on the angle of your face and the amount of light. It’s a magnificient shade. Patent Leather just doesn’t show in these pictures but it’s a beautiful purple shade once on. I’ve gotten away from purples lately but this is one I will keep wearing.
Pure Platinum is a silver that can be icy blue too. On my eyes it takes on a blue tint and when I pair it with the incredibly pigmented Cool Caviar I get a sultry eye that is party ready.
Bold Bling is described as a metallic rose gold but it’s not highly metallic and it’s got more rose than gold. I’ve worn it with other shades in the brown family and loved how it plays off a dark brown like Buxom’s Haute Couture (metallic java). I expected Gold Status to be a little too strong for me since it’s a warm brass shade but it’s not glittery so it’s totally wearable.
I loved this palette so much that I instantly created another and bought it from Sephora. I promise I’ll share it since I even did swatch pictures. I love the fact that you can make what you want and interchange them too. The shadows snap in and out with ease so I plan on switching out some of the shades in my personally made palette and adding Bold Bling & Gold Status to it for a while. Just think of all the fun I can have!
While these were sent for editorial consideration, Beauty Info Zone is in love!
