We are so excited to be able to share these new tarte Cheek Stains and Power Pigment LipSurgences with you. When tarte sent these along both Lisa and I were thrilled with the beautiful colors. Yesterday Lisa shared her 4 choices and today I’m going to regale you with the reminder. I’m not quite sure how you as a consumer will pick from these fabulous shades.
Let’s talk about Cheek Stains first. The very first product that Maureen Kelly, founder of Tarte, created was a Cheek Stain which is now called Flush. Her brand took off from there. Fifteen years later tarte decided to repackage these so that each shade is special on its own. 7 of these 8 Cheek Stains are from the previous line but one new one, Blushing Bride, has been added to celebrate their being around for 15 years!
Almost all of the cheek stains are a gel formula. Just one is a cream formula, Natural Beauty. The way to tell is to look at the tops of brand new Cheek Stains, a rounded top tells you it’s a gel, a flat top tells you it’s a cream.
In addition to the Cheek Stains there is a matching powder blush and a matching Power Pigment LipSurgence. Tarte has tied in all these together to let you have your choice of the type of blush you prefer and a lip crayon that works perfectly with each one.
Blushing Bride is the newest Cheek Stain so if you already have a collection of these then this is the one for you to add. According to Tarte the shade is a rosy pink, according to Sephora it’s a plummy rose. Whichever description fits is just fine because it’s a beautiful rose that is I find to be more pink than plum. It’s creamy and it blends beautifully. By nature the Cheek Stains are a little tacky but less so than they used to be. Give it time and it dries down to the shade you’d love on your cheeks if you were a bride.
Exposed is the hardest one to capture in photographs. In real life it looks like there’s a lot of brown to it but it’s actually a nude pink that is the most natural looking (in my opinion) of all the shades. This came out originally under the name Awakening. Exposed Power Pigment for lips is the kind of color I wear all the time so this one is going to be finished the quickest.
Tipsy is the perfect spring coral. It’s sheer so it’s not overwhelming. It’s a little darker than my other shades. The Power Pigment has been begging me for warmer weather.
Fearless is my favorite although it’s really hard to pick a favorite. But it just calls to me in its pink coral gloriness. I think it’s because it’s the easiest to wear with any eye that I’m wearing. The Power Pigment Lip brightens my lips without making me feel like my lips are screaming “this is dark”.
I know I’ve been going on forever but I n.e.e.d. to talk about the new lip crayons. Tarte still has most of their LipSurgence crayons. They make 7 that are LipSurgence Lip Tints and are a hybrid between a stain, a balm and a gloss. They have 6 shades of the LipSurgence Matte Lip Tints which are very hydrating but have a matte finish. In addition there are 2 that are called LipSurgence Hydrating Lip Creme. So they haven’t abandoned one of my all time favorite lip product, they’ve just added to them with 8 gorgeous shades.
I’m thrilled to have these in my LipSurgence collection. They still have that minty freshness and are automatic making sharpening unnecessary.
Now for the moment of truth, which of these will you be choosing to complete your makeup collection? Will it be the slightly darker shades from Part 1 or will you go with the lighter shades in Part 2? We’ll respect your choices since we had a hard time deciding ourselves. — Marcia
