Summer is coming so it’s time to refresh your favorite sunscreens

It’s Makeup Wars time and we’re all about sunscreens this week. You know that we constantly tell you to use sunscreen since it’s so important and we’re going to do that again this week by sharing some of our favorite sunscreens. With summer officially starting in less than 3 weeks it’s time to rearm your collection with a new unexpired batch of products. I’m currently using 3 brands and I have high recommendations for all.

Favorite sunscreens from MyChelle, Emme Diane, and Glytone

samples, affiliates

I’ve previously written about MyChelle and Emme Diane so this is a reminder. Newer to me and very beloved is Glytone so this will be weighted heavily in their direction.

MyChelle has 3 new sunscreen products this year that are all Reef Safe. This has become so important now that we’re getting to know more about how the products we use can affect the world. Not to get into politics but with the EPA cutting back on regulations it’s up to us to use what we know to product the earth.

MyChelle Sun Shield Non-Tinted Liquid SPF50, Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50, and Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50

In my MyChelle review I described these three products and their important ingredients. One of the things that has happened in my use of these products is that the Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50 has become a favorite of my granddaughter. When we are getting ready to go out to the park she runs into my bathroom and grabs this for me to apply it on her. She loves that there’s no fragrance and that it feels good on her skin. I hope I don’t turn her into a fragrance-phobe but she really like this SPF50 Body Lotion from MyChelle. Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50 is so easy for me to apply when we’re going out to play. I use the Sun Shield Non-Tinted Liquid SPF50 under my foundation and it always plays nicely without causing any balling up.

Emme Diane Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF40

Prior to my using MyChelle Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50 I was introduced to Emme Diane’s Tinted Mineral Sunscreen (SPF 40) (review) and wore it daily on my long cruise and after. Emme Diane helped remind me that we still get UV light indoors from reflected sunlight as well as light bulbs. Plus when we are in the car we get reflections from the sun. The texture of the Emme Diane is different than I had expected. It’s thick and feels a little rubbery at first, but once blended in it melds with my skin making me feel like I have light coverage and great sun protection. I can wear this alone or as a primer under a foundation.

GLYTONE Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 40

Now let’s learn about GLYTONE which is what I’ve been using constantly. Glytone Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 40 and I have a wonderful relationship. This Glytone product loves my skin and my skin loves it. Could that be because it also contains Hyaluronic Acid?? That sure doesn’t hurt!

Glytone Sunscreen ingredients

Here are several reasons why I like the Glytone Sunscreen Broad Spectrum so much

1. It’s fragrance free and oil free

2. It contains Micronized Zinc Oxide and Hyaluronic Acid (nourishes skin and helps boost natural moisture level and visibly reducing appearance of fine lines and wrinkles)

3. It’s PABA free

4. It’s thick at first but then gets absorbed completely into my skin

5. My foundation (and I’ve tried 4 different ones so far) applies perfectly over it

6. Not only does it protect against sunburn (both UVA and UVB) but it also minimizes premature skin aging

7. My dermatologist said she loved how my skin looked in spite of knowing how ancient I am.

8. It can be used on both face and body but I’m saving this for my face. Other than my neck not much of my body gets the sun so I can use a different sunscreen on it.

GLYTONE Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 40

This was one of the easiest Makeup Wars that I’ve written since these products are all well loved by me and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I know I’ll have some temptation with what my fellow Makeup Wars friends will write about but all I have to do is come back to my vanity and look at these to know satisfaction.  —  Marcia

  1. I love your picks, Marcia! I also picked one of the MyChelle sunscreens, and I would like to try that Emme Diane sunscreen!

  2. Your skinny n really does look great!

  3. I think I would prefer to try the Glytone, but I would happily try either one. I guess I need to buy sunscreen for the pool anyways! Summer is right around the corner, and where I live, it’s already here. The cool thing about facial sunscreen is that you can really use it all year round.

  4. I’m using the MyChelle sunscreens now, and the body lotion with SPF is so easy to use to get everyday protection and hydration. I would like to try the Emme Diane tinted moisturizer

  5. I need to find Glycone sunscreen near me. Great post

  6. I would love to try either of those. I currently use a CosRX sunscreen that I love, but I’m always open to new products.

  7. Happy to see my holy grail, Emme Diane, on the list!

  8. I really want to try the MyChelle liquid!

  9. #7 – haha, oh Marcia, you’re not ancient!! I want to try MyChelle sometime. Never tried it

  10. I want to try Mychelle. Hawaii is banning chemical sunscreens pretty soon due to them not being coral reef-safe.

  11. I haven’t tried any of the brands that made your picks. I need to explore these ones!

  12. I only just recently learned about what it meant to be reef-safe. There’s so much to know about how our beauty products can hurt the earth!

  13. After hearing Jen rave about Emme Diane and her products, I am now super curious! I am already a big fan of MyChelle and Glytone.

  14. 25Sweetpeas says:

    Perfect items for summer!

  15. My Nail Polish Obsession says:

I am definitely on board with more sunscreen. But I think I like the new invisible ones best.
