Spoil your hair with Roux’s Precious Oils Collection

How did Roux know that we’d be home without help from our hair stylists? In February they launched a new collection, Weightless Precious Oils, and the timing was perfect. Their new line is infused with eight precious oils plus Vitamins E and B5 in order to transform dry, damaged hair into soft, shiny strands. And it just takes 3 products for this perfection to happen.

Lisa will be telling you her experience with the shampoo and conditioner while Marcia will be discussing hers with the hair masque. We’ve both used the entire collection so we know the benefits are real.

Roux Weightless Precious Oils Hair Care Collection contains argan, avocado, castor, coconut, jojoba, olive, sunflower seed and sweet almond oils. Whew! Plus the addition of the vitamins brings a collection of totally affordable products ($9.99 each) that will help restore essential moisture and control frizz without weighing your hair down.

I have very fine hair that is weighed down so easily by hair products and the thought of eight different oils in all three of the Roux Weightless Precious Oils products had me worried. Sure, the word ‘Weightless’ was in there, but my hair can’t read and might miss that note altogether. Also, I wondered – why three steps? Why is there a conditioner PLUS a hair masque? It seemed to me that two conditioners were going to give me hair flatter than a pancake.

Step one is washing your hair with the Luminous Shampoo ($9.99) This shampoo doesn’t have any sulfates, which is great news – sulfates are typically too hard on my hair and really dry it out. It also doesn’t have any silicones or mineral oil and, while, thanks to the current hair salon shut down I have bright white roots about 5 inches long the rest of my hair is colored, so I was happy to see that it is safe on color-treated hair.
Even though it doesn’t have sulfates the Roux Luminous Shampoo still bubbles into a beautiful lather. The lather puts moisture deep into the hair shaft, leaving hair cleansed but not dry. It also adds shine and softness without weighing it down. After shampooing and rinsing, I am impressed with the way my hair feels. Many shampoos leave my hair so rough my fingers actually get caught as I rinse out the product. The Luminous Shampoo, however, makes my hair feel great…almost like I have already conditioned it. My hair is so soft and smooth that my fingers can’t find a single tangle. This shampoo has a fragrance but it’s light and sweet and it doesn’t linger.

After completing step one, it’s on to step two, the Softening Conditioner.

Like its step one companion, the Weightless Precious Oils Softening Conditioner ($9.99) contains no sulfates or mineral oil and is safe for color-treated hair. This is a lightweight creamy conditioner that further hydrates hair and eliminates frizz.  It also reinforces and enhances the high shine that the Luminous Shampoo already accomplished.

I thought that my hair was soft, smooth, and tangle-free after the Luminous Shampoo, but the Softening Conditioner takes those three qualities to the next level. To get the best results after shampooing I squeeze out as much water as possible. Less water in hair helps the conditioner sink in quickly so it can work its magic and the Softening Conditioner does indeed help create hair magic. I massage in the Softening Conditioner, concentrating on my ends. I don’t leave it in long – right after I work it through my hair I rinse it out, spending extra time rinsing and then squeezing out excess water in anticipation of step 3, the Restorative Hair Masque.

I haven’t tried just doing steps 1 and 2 because I am so thrilled with the way my hair looks and feels after doing all 3 steps, but I can say that my hair feels pretty incredible before applying the Restorative Hair Masque. After I do all 3 steps, my hair looks glorious – soft and smooth, but not so smooth I’ve lost volume and body.  In fact, somehow it seems to give my hair texture without roughness. Sometimes hair products make my hair so smooth I can’t even clip it up, which sounds great but all that smoothness also weighs down my hair. This system leaves my hair full, bouncy, and seriously shiny – exceptional results for my super fine hair!

Roux Precious Oils Restorative Hair Masque

I have two things that are suffering from the restriction of staying in – my hair and my nails. Luckily Roux Precious Oils Collection is restoring my hair so that it look soft, pliable, and shiny. There’s no hope for my nails but that’s a different post.

Roux Precious Oils Restorative Hair Masque

I’ve been using this collection for the past several weeks and, wow, what a difference. My hair was feeling dry and looking pretty ratty. Even without a desperately needed haircut and color, Roux has brought some vitality to my hair again.

Roux Precious Oils Restorative Hair Masque

The texture of step three, Roux Precious Oils Restorative Hair Masque, is like a soft jelly. I scoop it out of the jar and it goes back into shape like I wasn’t doing anything. It’s slippery but it’s not gooey. As a conditioning masque it’s great to wash your hair as usual then apply the masque and let it linger. I’ve done it a few ways – I’ll put it on in the shower and let it get to work for 5 minutes OR I’ll do a long term masque for 15 minutes. The best way for me to do that is to put on a shower cap after I’ve applied the masque, get out of the shower, do other morning chores, then get back in the shower to rinse it off. That’s when I really saw a difference in my hair.

Roux Precious Oils Restorative Hair Masque

My hair doesn’t look like it has split ends when I use this masque and it’s not frizzy. I still use a heated tool so that my hair dries smoothly but I don’t need to overheat it. The Roux Precious Oils Collection is the real thing for me. It has a typical hair product fragrance that doesn’t linger. It reminds me of going into my salon.
