POPBeauty Filter Effect Base review and swatches!

pop beauty Filter Effect Base Foundation

What’s not to love about POPBeauty? This line is always fun and the price is always right! I love the blushes, love the lippies, and the nail polishes are fantastic. I am very happy to report that the foundation, Filter Effect Base ($14), is also fun and well worth the wallet friendly price point.

POPBeauty bills this foundation as a ‘no filter filter’ that creates a blurring beauty boost which also improves skin texture. The oil-free formula boasts antioxidants which are appreciated and are good for the skin, but really what I am interested in is the color payoff – how does it perform as a foundation?

There is not a lot of play time with this foundation.  Because Filter Effect Base is water based, it’s thin and a little goes a long way, but once it’s set it is there for the day. It has a nice satin finish and the coverage is medium and buildable. I have a few problem areas, like a noticeable dark vein down my right cheek, and a little extra over this area takes care of it no problem without looking fake or overly make up.

There are actually 8 shades available. I am missing two shades – No. 5 Toffee and No. 6 Cinnamon. I like there are some excellent shades for darker skin tones. The lighter shades are pretty forgiving, and my somewhere between fair and medium skin can use No. 2, 3, or 4, with 3 being a perfect match.

I really like Filter Effect Base! The thin texture took me a few times to get used to – I was either using too much or too little at first. But once I figured that out, dang…this foundation really rocks. The finish is terrific, the coverage is excellent, and the wear is fabulous. Like POPBeauty itself, what’s not to love??

Also notable –  Filter Effect Base is not tested on animals and is paraben free. You can find Filter Effect Base and all the other fun POPBeauty products online at popbeauty.com as well as at Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and Duane Reade stores.  – Lisa

The swatches photo on your review on your skin, is so helpful.
This looks like something I may like to consider giving a try but I would be much more hesitant without your real life on your actual skin swatch color samples photo that you did, because I’m always afraid of getting the wrong color and even if they have a refund or exchange it’s too much of a pain if I did get the wrong color. So thanks!
