Crimped hair? Why in the world would I ever want to do that, short of maybe the Depeche Mode concert this weekend?? Well, actually, there are some really great reasons – like volume and texture! And much to my surprise I am loving the CHI Onyx Euroshine 1” Crimping Iron ($149.99 from loxabeauty.com), a hair styling tool that I was sure was only going to collect dust in my bathroom. I am very happy to be proven wrong.

The CHI Onyx Euroshine 1” Crimping Iron gives a very tight crimp that is pretty cool – it’s a unique texture that makes for a very different hairstyle if you want to go all out and give yourself some full on crimping. Where I think this tool truly shines, however, is with discriminating use. A few well placed accents are adorable. Some crimping at the roots gives great volume to finer hair.

  1. Definitely a throwback! I remember crimping my hair in the late 80’s or early 90’s!!!

  2. What a fun tool, definitely a big throwback to the 80s!

  3. Yikes, what goes around comes around! What fun!

  4. I agree, I think I was in grade school when I first crimped my hair!

  5. I love my Voloom to add texture and volume, it essentially does the same thing but I only use it on the under layers of my hair.

  6. I bought a hair crimper a few years ago at Ulta and still have it. I have long hair so this is motivating me to try it again. I obviously didn’t get rid of it for some reason, lol. Since I’ve been in nursing though, I normally wear my hair in a pony tail then braided so it keeps it out of the way. The videos are motivating too.

  7. Crimped styles are back! Oh I remember all the girls at school going wild about those 🙂 Who would have thought this style would ever be popular again?
