My Sigma brush haul

Sigma brushes and Mini Power Haul Kit

I couldn’t begin to count the number of brushes I own, especially eye brushes. It’s a habit I just can’t kick. I find I use the same brushes over and over too but I still love variety and I go off on a kick with certain brushes. Sigma Beauty came to my attention mainly through my friend Phyrra and her blog. She’s a big fan of Sigma since they are a cruelty-free vegan brand which is how she lives and what she supports.

Sigma Beauty Power Haul

My haul was going to be just for a few brushes but then I saw the Mini Power Haul set and decided that would be great for travel. I’ll start today’s article with this set. Sigma Beauty is a brand that almost always has coupons so be sure you seek them out before you purchase. Once you’ve signed up with them you’ll find that they are sent your way often. I think I had 30% off the day I shopped so the Mini Power Haul Set went from $15 down to $10.50. For that price I had to add it to my cart.

These smaller size brushes and the items in the set are nice for travel but not really what I’d use for every day use.

The 3 brushes are 5″ long so they are a great size for my M·Y·O Cosmetic Case. The Medium Angled Shading brush works well for lid work and blending plus turn it sideways and it’s good for the crease. The Smudge brush does the detail work including my browbone and under my eyes while the Eyeliner brush would be great if I used powder as eyeliner.

Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat

The Spa Brush Cleaning Mat is my favorite part of the set. It has 5 different textures so that you can get any tool you have thoroughly cleaned. The two suction cups on the back hold it firm so that even when you use pressure it stays where you put it. Plus it’s small enough that it won’t take up space in my cosmetic case.

I haven’t used the Brush Shampoo yet (as of this writing) since it’s coming with on my trip but if it’s great then I may pick it up full size. For under $15 before any coupons it’s a nice set to have or to gift to someone about to travel or starting out with brushes.

Sigma Beauty E55 and E25 eyeshadow brushes

I really went to the Sigma site though to get some of the eyeshadow brushes. I’ve long been a MAC brush user but I’ve found that my two favorite brushes, the 239 and 217, have been changed. I’ve been looking for an affordable alternative especially for the MAC 217.

The E25 Blending Brush was what I set out to buy. At $16 (minus the coupon) it is the closest brush to the MAC 217 and a brush I knew would get a lot of use from me. Even though it’s called a Blending Brush I knew that it would also be a good crease brush.

The brush head is a little longer and wider than the MAC but it’s a great substitute for that brush. I love how well I can blend with the brush plus it places the shadows easily. Sigma says their brushes are SigmaTech® fiber brushes. I find the brush soft enough on my lid but firm enough to do the job properly.

MAC 217 (very well used) vs Sigma E25

The second brush I elected to purchase is the Sigma E55 Eye Shading brush. I really didn’t know which of the many Sigma brushes so this was a guess but I like it so the guess was right. This too is $16 before any discounts and what sold me on the E55 is that it’s good for both cream and powder eyeshadows. Since I wear cream shadows often it fit the criteria I look for.

Sigma #55 Eye Shading brush is bigger than the MAC 239 so it doesn’t exactly take its place but the brush is still very useful. I use it over my whole eye mostly since it’s bigger than my lid. I might try the E57 Firm Shader Brush the next time I shop on their site since that seems closer in size to the MAC.

I’m happy with the brushes that I purchased from Sigma Beauty and I’m sure there will be more in my future. The prices make them a good choice and the fact that the brushes are vegan and cruelty-free brings them kudos from me.  —  Marcia
