More than moisture: Heathmade Lotion Bars

A few days ago I wrote about a terrific aluminum-free deodorant by Heathmade. Today I have one more must-have from them, a lovely travel-friendly gem that has more uses than a Swiss army knife. I am talking about their Lotion Bar, specifically the Awaken Lotion Bar ($14.50).

Heathmade Lotion Bar in Awaken

Heathmade carries six versions of their Lotion Bar: Be True (sandalwood and vanilla); Devote (lemon, juniper, and rosemary); Manly (bayleaf, tobacco, and lavendar); Aware (lemongrass and spearmint); Relax (sweet orange, ginger, and ylang ylang); and Awaken (sweet orange, coffee, and vanilla).

A lotion bar looks similar to a solid deodorant, only the product is a lotion that is applied to skin directly from the tube. Because the lotion is solid, there is no worry about opening a suitcase to find your bathing suit and undies a nasty mess. The Heathmade Lotion Bar soothes dry skin anywhere on your body. It calms itchy, red, and irritated skin, and it makes skin wonderfully soft and supple. I use it on my feet in a few different ways. I slather it on before going for a walk, and the lotion keeps my feet and toes from developing blisters. I also like to apply it rather heavily before bed, then I wear thick socks for as long as I can stand it (for some reason when I wear socks at night it feels like my feet are suffocating!) But the Heathmade Lotion Bars don’t just make skin soft. They have all kinds of magic for you.

The Awaken Lotion Bar makes me happy just by taking a big sniff, because it smells INCREDIBLE. Heathmade has definitely mastered their fragrance combinations. The coffee scent is a delightful awakener, sweetened by the soft notes of sweet orange and vanilla. All these fragrances are delivered via essential oils, and they each do great things for skin. Coffee oil’s effect on skin is actually quite similar to what hyaluronic acid does for you. It increases collagen and elastin, which makes skin look plump, firm, and younger. Sweet orange essential oil is an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory that helps skin absorb vitamin C, plus it increases collagen production and blood flow. Vanilla has tons of antioxidants that fight free radicals and reverse skin damage caused by them. It slows down signs of ageing like fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. In short, the fragrance combination in the Awaken Lotion Bar is much more than a pretty scent!

Other ingredients include Argan Oil, which has beneficial lipids and fatty acids for skin, including oleic acid, palmitic acid, and linoleic acid. It’s a great source of antioxidant vitamin E and other antioxidant compounds. Also inside Heathmade Lotion Bars, avocado butter has antioxidant properties and is a good source of skin-replenishing fatty acids. The final ingredient is White Beeswax, which is a natural substance that bees make to build the walls of their honeycomb. White Beeswax is basically a natural thickening agent that is also nicely emollient.

Considering this Lotion Bar has nothing but natural ingredients that are fantastic for skin, and the fragrance is out of this world, the Lotion Bar is a no brainer. It is an excellent option, especially if you travel a lot or carry lotion in your purse or gym bag. You can find Heathmade Lotion Bars online at – Lisa

I hadn’t tried a lotion bar before but the packaging looks great! I hate when my lotion bottles get all messy.
