We haven’t done a versus (VS) review in a long time but today Marcia and Lisa are willing to knock each other around over Napoleon Perdis mascaras. We use quite a few products from Napoleon but didn’t realize until we tried the mascara that they are worth fighting over. Prepare yourself to learn about Peep Show Madame Fantasia and Mesmer-Eyes Mascara because you’re going to find yourself rushing to Ulta, beauty.com or the Napoleon website to buy them for yourself.
I don’t care what you say because I’m 100% sure that I’m the winner of this battle. I don’t have the long lashes you do but that doesn’t mean I don’t know a great mascara when I wear one. Napoleon Perdis’ Mesmer-Eyes Mascara is a GREAT mascara. I’m totally thrilled with this.
When I first opened the tube I was a bit shocked. Actually my reaction was “how the heck do I use this mascara?”. Therefore I studied the wand and realized it was actually a comb and not a brush. The wand has two combs; one is wider, one very thin and narrow. I’ve never had great success with comb mascaras so my hopes weren’t high.
Boy was I wrong. This is truly a fantastic mascara. The wider side helps create volume and length while the tiny thin side separates. What is so fabulous (excuse my superlatives but I really love this mascara!) about this though is that I get absolutely no smudging and it holds curl beautifully. I don’t rely on it to give me curl though Napoleon’s site says it will help curl but my lashes need a lash curler.
So Lisa my good friend, try to beat this! A mascara that lasts, doesn’t smudge, keeps curl, gives length and volume! Yours can’t be a match for this! My eyes are so happy.
Well, it sounds like your pick is terrific…but I think mine is better! Who can resist something called Peep Show? And even better, Madame Fantasia?? In my world, NO ONE can resist a name like that. And thankfully, the mascara totally lives up to the fabulousness of its moniker.
I absolutely love the look of the packaging for this mascara ($25). It’s exactly what you would picture the peep show for Madame Fantasia would look like – all silver and black and total Liza Minnelli Cabaret.
The mascara tube is the opposite of the outer packaging – what a surprise that it was white! You can see how the wand is nice and long.
The brush has two different types of bristles – long and spaced out, and short and close together. I use the longer bristles for the first coat to lengthen and separate, and the shorter bristles for the second coat to build volume. The mascara applies easily, I had no problems with clumps. The tapered end helps reach short lashes. Two coats give a thick, lush, full and dramatic look.
Pictured above is two coats. You can see how the ‘Madame’ delivers length, thickness, and drama! It goes on rather wet, so be sure to give it time to dry. Once it dries, it doesn’t smudge or flake at all.
I also love how it washes off easily. Usually mascaras that don’t smudge require some tugging during removal, but this one comes off like a dream.
So, Miss Marcia, I am thrilled that you are ‘mesmerized’ by your mascara find – but I think my Peep Show Madame Fantasia is just a little more dramatic!
Hey BIZ readers – who wins this battle? Personally we think it’s a draw but the winner could be you when you buy one (or both of these!
