Marcia vs Lisa – Lorac

Lisa my dear, here’s my challenge to you. Try to beat my Lorac pick. I’m feeling quite virtuous because as you’ll see from my photo I am 90% finished with Lorac’s Breakthrough Performance Foundation. (I won’t mention that it took me 2 years though.) I have worn this foundation  in every season and I can’t say that about just any foundation. Usually what works in summer is too dry in winter, if it works in winter it will melt off in the summer. But Lorac’s Breakthrough Performance is an oil-free anti-aging foundation that’s worked no matter what the weather. Lorac tells me it has SMS Complex (like I’m supposed to know what that is) and has SPF 14. I don’t count on my foundation for SPF though so that’s just an added bonus.

This is their anti-aging foundation and I need to be ANTI-aged, those birthdays are creeping up there. It contains hydrating ingredients and anti-oxidants to keep me radiant. I bought mine at Ulta and the department manager helped me with my choice. I knew him from the Saks Armani counter and he convinced me to buy it by telling me how similar it was to Armani’s Luminous Skin Foundation. You know what?  He was almost on the money with that. It gives a very close finish but for $38 rather than $59. I wear this in Porcelain (SMS1) which is a good match for this pale-faced lady.

Besides liking how this is a 4 season foundation and the appearance of it, I love the delivery system. It’s terrific. You twist the top and the pump appears. The proper amount of foundation comes out the first time therefore there’s no waste for me. The pump works as well with 90% gone as it did in the very beginning. I have one foundation (I won’t mention the name Dior here) whose pump broke with almost 1/3 of the foundation left so now it’s a total waste. Lorac’s has remained perfect.

This hits a home run with me. I seriously doubt that you can top this one!!  – Marcia

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia…I am sure that the foundation is great, but I think the best product in the line is the Blush/Bronzer Duo ($29), especially in Hot Flash.

You gotta love anything that can do three things in one – it’s a blush!  It’s a bronzer!  It’s a combination of both!!  The color looks scary strong in the pan, but it goes on lightly and you can build as much color as you want.  The pigmentation is great, the staying power is awesome.  Both the blush and bronzer are silky smooth, and the colors are to die for.  The pink alone give a great, flushed look; the bronzer alone is gorgeous medium brown with no hint of orange.  Use the blush on the apples of the cheeks, then put the bronzer underneath to sculpt the cheekbones.  Or, use it my favorite way – swirl your brush over both colors, and get a tremendous, beachy blush that looks great on all skin tones.  The foundation sounds awesome Marcia, but I think my multi-purpose pick wins this fight!!  – Lisa

Disclosure:  We purchased these products ourselves.

The Lorac item I like best is eyeshadow. It’s buttery smooth, pigmented, blends well and lasts all day. The lipsticks are nice too.

I like combination products like the blush/bronzer combo. I think you get more bang for your buck and the one product will complement the other, no guess work needed.

I’ve used the SMS foundation and I love it! A friend recommended it to me and I’ve been using it ever since.
