This week’s Makeup Wars edition is a little different than usual. We’ve decided to share who makes us drool the most, makes us want to spend money, makes us actually spend money and who’s collection we’d love to own. This could be a post that goes on for days so I’ve narrowed it to 5 different bloggers that have caused me to go shopping more than any others.
Number one influenster is Helen from Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog. Everything she writes about sounds like the most amazing product. She has a way with words that makes me want to swoon. But it’s when she gets started on Tom Ford lipsticks that she has my full attention. I blame my 6 lipstick collection on Lola!
The swatches from Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog below are what “forced” me into spending $98 not too long ago.
Speaking of Tom Ford lipstick, I have to blame Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book too. Sabrina not only has the most gorgeous lips I’ve ever seen, she has amazing taste. I’d love to sneak into her house and live in her makeup room. Sabrina has especially influenced me with Tom Ford, Chanel and Marc Jacobs. I dare you to look at her pictures and walk away unaffected. At this moment she has me craving the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes even though I had decided I just didn’t need them.
Rachel from Beauty Professor has made me spend countless pennies, nickels, dimes and dollars because we have the same taste in lip color. Not everyone is as captivated with light lip colors as I am but the Beauty Professor is even more enamored and has the most glorious taste in lip colors. I know if she loves it, then I’m going to go weak in the knees over it too.
Rachel’s love story with Tom Ford pale lipsticks didn’t help my resistance – or lack thereof.
My next two bad influences – whoops – friends who can persuade me are Makeup Wars bloggers. When making my list I chose Brooke of Blushing Noir instantly. If I had unlimited funds I’d go to her blog and buy one of everything she’s reviewed. I adore her taste in eyeshadow, blush, and nail polish especially. I was going to single her out for eyeshadow actually until I realized what a huge effect she’s had on me with nail polish.
The polish on my nails right now is because of Brooke’s influence. When I saw Illamasqua Facet on her nails I went a little gaga. I ordered it from Bloomingdale’s at 2 a.m. since I just couldn’t not own it.
Before that she did it to me with Marc Jacobs Petra polish too. I’m going to have to stop reading her blog!
Courtney of Phyrra, Beauty for the Bold, is someone that no one would expect to influence me the way she does. She and I are total opposites. She’s a young with-it woman who lives a lifestyle filled with alternative music and literature while I’m a grandmother who’s taught for 30 years and is staid and quiet. But Courtney’s taste in eyeshadows and what she can do with them amaze me. I wish I had her mad talent and willingness to do what she does. This past holiday season she was totally dangerous on my wallet. Because of Phyrra I bought at least 4 eyeshadow palettes she wrote about including these two:
And before that she “made” me buy the best foundation brush ever – Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush – as well as Naked Skin foundation.
These are only a fraction of the things that I’ve purchased because of my vegan, cruelty free loving makeup friend.
I could go on and on with the items that other bloggers have swayed me into buying but you need to see what the other Makeup Wars ladies have to share. I’ve put my credit card in the ice tray in the back of the freezer though since I’m afraid of what they’ll be tempting me with next. — Marcia
