Sweet Grass Farm is an all natural soap and body product company whose items can be found both online and in stores throughout the U.S. I’ve read really great things about this company in People Magazine, Real Simple, and In Style, so I was very excited to try out some products. I adore the quaint, simple packaging – the products look as good as they work, which is always a bonus!
First, I tried a few of the soaps.
This is the Vanilla Oatmeal soap ($4). It’s a beautiful, hand-made soap that is so calming to the skin. It’s perfect if you have dry, itchy skin, or sensitive skin. There is no major scent to it, it smells like vanilla, and it’s a truly great bar of soap that really lasts.
I also tried Lemon Scrubbie ($4). Are you familiar with Buffy the Backside Slayer by Lush? This is very similar, with a few key differences: the biggest difference in my book is that it lasts longer. I love Buffy, but it melts quickly. Lemon Scrubbie is not made with shea butter, so it doesn’t melt so quickly. It’s made with olive oil and coconut oil, so it’s still very moisturizing, although not dramatically as Buffy. Also, Lemon Scrubbie has those same sort of scrubbies in it that encourage circulation and help break down the fibers that give you the dreaded cottage cheese look, but the scrubbies are a bit smaller than the ones in Buffy. Buffy has ground rice and almonds, while Lemon Scrubbie has corn meal. That’s very good news for those with more sensitive skin. Of course the scent is different – Buffy smells sort of grassy and nutty, while Lemon Scrubbie smells of chocolate. Just kidding! Of course it smells of fresh lemons, and it’s fabulous. And finally, Buffy is huge and not cheap – $22.50 for 7 ounces. Lemon Scrubbie is $4 for 4 ounces. It is a great, inexpensive way to work on that cellulite and get clean at the same time.
Next up, Lemon Verbena Liquid Soap ($8.95 for 16.9 oz). Would you look at how HUGE this bottle is??
This doubles as a hand soap or a shower gel. And it is DIVINE. Seriously. It lathers up just perfect, the lemon cuts through the worst onion smell, and it doesn’t dry out your skin. Plus I love the packaging.
I think this is really great for the kitchen, especially in the Lemon Verbena scent. The kids keep stealing this and putting it in their bathroom, particularly my older daughter. It is lovely, and what a bargain for the huge amount of soap you get.
This next product was a huge, huge surprise to me. I thought I was going to hate it, because I do not enjoy cleaning. I wish I were more like Donna Read, sailing through my housecleaning like a pro, wearing pearls and heels and singing as I scrub every nook and cranny. But I’m no Donna. I am a total Lisa, avoiding housework until it’s at the crisis point because I am too busy having fun playing with my cosmetics. Shameful, I know.
I am here to tell you that Sweet Grass Farm Dusting Fragrance ($8.95) sent me promptly to housekeeping rehab, and I am now fully reformed…at least in the dusting category!
Keep in mind that I do own an iron…but I have never once used it. Truly, housework is NOT my thing, and I made sure my husband knew that was part of the package before he married me. I tried the Dusting Fragrance with trepidation…and I LOVED it. I dust all the time now. It is such a cool product. You take a damp cloth and then put some of the dusting fragrance on it. It smells of Lavender, but it’s not a sharp smell…it’s a CLEAN smell. The oils cut through dirt and grime and leave everything – wood, painted surfaces, blinds – clean and shiny and smelling FABULOUS. I don’t like housework, but I love a clean house, especially one that SMELLS clean. And this makes getting to that place super easy and dare I say it….fun! I am a total convert. I even want to buy a fun apron to wear as I clean. Hmmm, maybe this one would be perfect for me:
I know, I am a little sick…but my house is clean and it sure smells great!!
Bottom line is, this is one fantastic line that I highly recommend. Now I want to try so many other things…dish soap, spray cleaner, linen spray, laundry soap, Spring Chicken Muscle Rub….my list of wants goes on and on. Check out the website, I know you will want to try four or five things, too!!! – Lisa
