I am staying away from candy this Halloween – I swear I am NOT going to gain weight from too many Milk Duds and Snickers bars this year! Instead, I am going to candy up my nails with fabulous Halloween appropriate shades. It’s a terrific time of year to experiment with shades that are a bit out of the norm for you. KBShimmer’s Halloween Trio ($29) is a perfect choice for some nonfat Halloween treats.
The KBShimmer Halloween Trio is $29 and comes with three Halloween polishes, plus an adorable Witch magnet.
Bugs & Kisses is a blinged out alternative to the obligatory Halloween black nail polish. The deep black base is scattered with bugs and slithery creatures. No, not really – it’s scattered with color-shifting flakes in burnt orange, gold, green and red. Plus, there are micro holo flakes for even more sparkle. I find that it looks best with a very thin first coat, then a thick second coat.
The most cleverly named polish in the trio is Coulda Had A Bad Witch. How awesome is that?? This polish is KBShimmer’s witchy shade. It’s a grape purple with other-worldly color-shifting flakes that go from hues of green and aqua, to fiery red, gold, and orange. Plus, it has a hint of holo sparkles for a little more magic. While it’s a close race, I think that Coulda Had A Bad Witch is my most favorte of this spooky trio. The second coat may look a little uneven and lumpy at first, just give it a moment and it settles into a smooth, gorgeous finish.
And then we have Hey There Pumpkin, an absolutely gorgeous orange that is picture perfect for Halloween. Yes, this pumpkin orange, but it’s a neon pumpkin orange with stunning gold and green flakes. I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but I think Hey There Pumpkin is kind of glow in the dark. This is what I plan to be wearing on Halloween, hopefully handing out candy to a slew of masked kiddos.
