Is it berry good or berry bad? Paula’s Choice Power Berry Serum

Lisa and Marcia often debate about which beauty products are the best and their debates can become intense.  However, there is one line they have always agreed upon – Paula’s Choice. Both agree that every skin care product they have tried so far has been darn near perfect – excellent ingredients, elegant formulas fully backed by research, and a price tag that doesn’t cause heart palpitations. Will they both agree on the latest Paula’s Choice product they have been testing, the Earth Sourced Power Berry Serum (regularly $31, on sale right now for $26.35)?  Read on to find out!

Paula’s Choice Power Berry Serum

The Power Berry Serum has a lot going for it. Fruit is part of a good diet, not just for your tummy but also for your skin:

This 95% natural serum gives skin a healthy glow through a potent combination of berries selected for their proven antioxidant power in nature.
13 berries neutralize environmental damage
Preserves youthful-looking skin
Silicone-free, milky-gel texture lightly hydrates
All-natural pink shade

I have been using Paula’s Choice skin care products ever since it debuted all the way back in 1995. This is straight forward, logical, effective skin care, and I find myself wanting to try every single product in this very extensive line.  The Power Berry Serum has 13 different types of berries in it, and berries are terrific antioxidants. In particular, the sea buckthorn, raspberry, elderberry and squalene ingredients moisturize my skin and leave it looking fresh and happy.

The serum is lightweight and silky and while it’s rather wet it absorbs right away. It isn’t sticky or super slick because – and I know a lot of you will be happy about this! – it is silicone free.  I have been using it every morning and every night and I find it works great around my eye area as well as my face and neck. Interestingly, it gives my skin a bit of a pink glow while at the same time reducing redness because it’s so soothing.

With 13 different kinds of berries, I figured it had to smell like a fruit salad, but there isn’t any scent that I can detect.  I especially like two things about this serum – first, it plays well with others – I find that it is especially good paired with retinol-based products. I have been combining it with my Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant ($29.50) and the results are fantastic – smooth, bright skin with no redness. Second, the applicator is really cool. It has a squeeze tip that makes for super easy access to the serum without spills. I say that the Power Berry Serum is another winner from the Paula’s Choice line!

I’m not about to argue with Lisa’s assessment since it fits in line perfectly with mine. While I only am using 1 other Paula’s Choice product at the moment, Power Berry Serum has fit in perfectly with the other products getting used.

What makes this different from the many serums I use? Mainly it’s the berries that not only provide the pink color but also brings us additional vitamins, polyphenols, flavonoids, lignans and anthocyanidins that makes berries and PC’s serum perfect for repairing skin. There’s a matte finish that doesn’t ball up under foundation.

While it has this pretty pink (berry) color unfortunately it doesn’t impart any color to my face. I’ve used this alone or cocktailed with another serum and always find it comfortable. My dry skin still needs a moisturizer but the combination is always one that has me waking up to brighter skin.

If someone asks me what brand of skincare to use, I always say Paula’s Choice first. I know I won’t be steering anyone wrong with ingredients, products or prices. And I feel safe with telling them about this cruelty free brand.I have to say Paula Beguoin has become a giant in the skincare world.

I agree with you. Paula’s Choice products have always performed well for me. I especially appreciate that Paula’s products are all certified by Leaping Bunny to never be tested on animals and are cruelty free.

Another Paula’s Choice product I need to try! Thank you for the review. Glad both loved the serum. It must be really good.

I love Paula’s Choice products. I was recently invited to do a product test for a new serum and I really liked it. These sound really nice as well.
