The first thing we are fascinated with is their packaging which is built orgami-like and features important information about the main ingredient of the particular product.

MARCIA SHARES TWO SKINCARE PRODUCTS

nyakio face balm and eye cream

NYAKIO QUINOA DEPUFFING & FIRMING EYE CREAM

No surprise that the eye cream is the first product I’m reviewing since I can never get enough eye cream. Quinoa may be a trendy grain now but it dates back 3,000 to 4,000 years ago to Peru and is considered a “food of the gods”. Nyakio used this for this eye cream for its high content of vitamins, minerals and protein.

The name says it all for this quinoa based eye cream “depuffing & firming”. It’s a great eye cream day or night but it’s particularly great in the morning. It awakens your eyes by depuffing the eye area. The slanted tip is ceramic and is a cooling touch that helps firm your undereyes. ‘Sourced from Peru, the quinoa is combined with ingredients such as shea butter, coffee extract, and avocado oil to hydrate and refresh for a firmer look.’

At first I was transferring the cream to my finger but then decided to try the tip and WOW. The cool feeling was eye opening and the eye cream melted into my puffiness. It doesn’t interfere with makeup at all and helps keep my undereyes looking smoother over all.

Massage under each eye for maybe 10 seconds and you’ll be smiling throughout the day!

nyakio Tamanu Firming Face Balm

nyakio Tamanu Firming Face Balm

nyakio calls the Tamanu Firming Face Balm their “little miracle balm” and once you use it you’ll understand why. When I first received this I thought it was an ordinary moisturizer but I was wrong since it’s so much more than that.

I had never heard of Tamanu before but nyakio tells us “On a “soul-searching” journey to India, Nyakio’s dear friend noticed that many women appeared to have found the secret for firmer, softer, seemingly ageless skin. One highly coveted oil is tamanu oil, whose skin-renewing properties were discovered generations ago in India and Africa. Colloquially, tamanu oil is known as “Green Gold” for its color and reparative nature.”

nyakio Tamanu Firming Face Balm

Tamanu Firming Face Balm is infused with the pure tamanu oil that is sourced from India to lift and hydrate skin.

nyakio Tamanu Firming Face Balm

The surface of nyakio Tamanu Firming Face Balm is a hard one, not creamy like you’d expect of a moisturizer. I don’t use this as I would a typical moisturizer since the texture is different. Instead I spot treat with this for particularly dry areas on my face and on my body. It makes a great foot balm to soften those hardened areas. I’ve started using it on my left thumb and first finger where I always seem to be dry and lightly calloused (I’m a lefty).

It starts off hard and I use a plastic spatula to remove some, then once I start warming it up it becomes soft and pliable. I don’t wear this during the day since it interferes with blending in my makeup but I like it at night even though it has a slight fragrance.

I think this is going to be awesome in the winter when I really need this deep moisturizing and skin calming.

LISA SHARES ONE SKINCARE PRODUCT

nyakio Chinese Rice Exfoliating Cleansing Powder

I really like exfoliating cleansing powders in general because they have a long shelf life and they are so versatile.  You can use them by themselves as an exfoliator, or you can mix them with your cleanser to cleanse and exfoliate at the same time.  The Chinese Rice Exfoliating Cleansing Powder is especially nice – it’s different from other ones I have tried because it’s not just the rice for exfoliation.  The rice is coated with some shea butter which helps to keep skin moisturized, as well as some African black soap.  This means skin is wonderfully exfoliated but in a very gentle way.

The other product that I have that is closest to this one is the Tatcha Exfoliating Powder, which I love, but it’s far more expensive.  You know what I have found the Chinese Rice Exfoliating Cleansing Powder is especially wonderful for?  That emergency cleanse the morning after you fell asleep without washing your face the night before.  It gets rid of all that stuff so you don’t break out – saves the day and saves your skin!

You can find nyakio products only at Ulta, so go online or check them out on your next shopping trip.

nyakio™ products are developed for all skin types and ages, and formulated without Sulfates, Phthalates, Parabens, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Formaldehyde and Butylene Glycol.

  17. Tigerlaf says:

You have to try their coffee scrub. It’s unlike anything I’ve tried before. Imagine getting soft but thorough exfoliation, but then when you wash your face your skin feels like you’ve done deep moisturizing instead. It feels softer than baby butt, very hydrated, as if you just used a heavy cream, not scrubbed the [email protected] out of your face.
