Eddie Funkhouser Highlight and Contour Palette

The Eddie Funkhouser Highlight & Contour Palette is one of the best I’ve used for several reasons. It’s different from others because it has both creme and powder highlighters and contours that mimic light and shadows, making it incredibly versatile. In addition, there is a setting powder and a finishing powder with micro-shimmer to brighten your complexion. It’s just a beautiful mix of shades that are so easy to use and tons of fun to play with.It comes in two shades – Light to Light/Medium (pictured), and the slightly deeper version, Medium to Tan.

There are three cremes and three powders in the palette:

Eddie Funkhouser Highlight and Contour Palette Highlighting Creme

The Highlighting Creme is a full coverage creme that adds brightness and light to the face.  You place this mid- forehead, straight down the middle of the nose, and on the tops of the cheeks.

Eddie Funkhouser Highlight and Contour Palette Contouring Creme

The Contouring Creme is the darkest creme that gives the big contours and shadows, giving more definition.  You place it under cheekbones, on the sides of the nose, and under the chin to minimize any sagging.

Eddie Funkhouser Highlight and Contour Palette Soft Bronzing Creme

The Soft Bronzing Creme is a contour, but it’s a more subtle one that balances out the complexion.  You place this mid cheekbone and on the outer portion of the forehead.

Eddie Funkhouser Highlight and Contour Palette Setting Powder

The Setting Powder is a lightweight translucent pressed powder. This goes over the cremes to set them and keep them intact throughout the day. Eddie also recommends using it for ‘baking’, which is done after applying cream concealer. You press a generous amount of the setting powder on top of the concealer and let it set or ‘bake’ for 10 minutes. Then, take a big fluffy brush and sweep the excess away. Your baked concealer will last all day and won’t crease.

Eddie Funkhouser Highlight and Contour Palette Contouring Powder

The Contouring Powder deepens your contours and sets the Contouring Creme. You place this under cheekbones, on the outer portion of your forehead, and down the sides of your nose.

Eddie Funkhouser Highlight and Contour Palette Glow Powder

The Glow Powder is a highlighting powder that illuminates and gives the high points of the face a beautiful glow.

The back of the palette has a very helpful illustration that shows the proper placement of each creme and powder.

Eddie has excellent advice for application which I follow and it makes a huge difference. I love the ‘bake’ technique, which has made a big difference for me – no more surprises halfway though the day, looking in the mirror and seeing concealer-filled wrinkles. Yuck.

  1.  Following the application of liquid or creme foundation, apply Highlighting and Contouring Creme to    the specific areas of the face notated on the back of the palette.
  2.  Using the Setting Powder, set the Highlighting Creme
  3.  Using the Contouring Powder, set the Contouring Creme
  4.  Apply a liquid or cream concealer of your choice to the under eye area. Bake the concealer using the Setting Powder for a long wearing crease free finish. To “bake”, Press a generous amount of setting powder into your concealer. Allow setting powder to sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, using a fluffy brush, sweep away excess powder.
  5. Apply Finishing (“Glow”) Powder to high points of cheekbones, bridge and tip of nose, edge of cupids bow and tip of chin.

I have to admit that I don’t have time every day to highlight and contour, but on the days that I do it makes a huge difference and I look and feel my best. The Highlight & Contour Palette by Eddie Funkhouser has everything you need for balanced perfection that lasts all day – what more could you ask for? A free one, I guess!! – Lisa
