First Aid Beauty is all about that base! 3 FAB Primer reviews

I am a primer nut. I have so many different primers that I am not even going to tell you how many I own because of the shame – and because I am afraid you might call the producers of the TV show Hoarders on me. But I appreciate a primer more than probably any other cosmetic item. Primers are so versatile and since my skin really changes with the seasons, I need different types for my multiple personality complexion. I probably don’t need the ridiculous amount that I have, but primers are just so fun!

First Aid Beauty has only added to my addiction with their three primers that address different skin care concerns. You may need only one of these, or you may have weird skin like mine and need all three!

FAB is all about that base with primers that either plump skin, mattify, or luminize. Here’s my take on each one.

FAB ULTRA REPAIR HYALURONIC HYDRATING PRIMER

FAB ULTRA REPAIR HYALURONIC HYDRATING PRIMER

HYDRATE, PRIME & BRIGHTEN ULTRA REPAIR HYALURONIC HYDRATING PRIMER ($28)

The Ultra Repair Hyaluronic Hydrating Primer is oil-free and its job is to moisturize, luminize, and prime skin. The hyaluronic acid plumps skin so it is great for anyone with fine lines and wrinkles. It provides an immediate plumping effect and over time smooths out lines.

HYALURONIC ACID
A powerful humectant that boosts skin’s moisture content, helps skin appear smoother and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

COLLOIDAL OATMEAL
Helps calm and soothe dry or distressed skin.

MICRO-PEARLS
Finely milled minerals with light-reflecting properties that amplify skin’s natural radiance for a beautifully luminous effect.

FAB ANTIOXIDANT BOOSTER
Helps stave off environmental aggressors with Licorice Root, Feverfew and White Tea extracts.

Because this has no artificial fragrance I think it’s the best one for those with sensitive skin. It’s also terrific for those with combination skin and because it calms down my dry patches but it doesn’t exacerbate my oily areas. It really holds my makeup in place, increasing the wear time which is impressive since my skin tends to absorb whatever I put on it.

HELLO FAB COCONUT SKIN SMOOTHIE PRIMING MOISTURIZER

HELLO FAB COCONUT SKIN SMOOTHIE PRIMING MOISTURIZER

HYDRATE, PRIME & LUMINIZE HELLO FAB COCONUT SKIN SMOOTHIE PRIMING MOISTURIZER ($28)

The Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer is a lovely, lightweight combination moisturizer/primer. Much to my delight, it does have a very slight coconutty scent, nothing overwhelming but still enough to make us coconut lovers dance a happy dance. It gives skin a beautiful sheen so on low maintenance days it’s really all you need. It’s great as a primer and provides a wonderful canvas for foundation.

The ingredients are terrific, featuring coconut water plus a host of other ‘superfoods’:

HELLO FAB PORES BE GONE MATTE PRIMER WITH FIG EXTRACT

HELLO FAB PORES BE GONE MATTE PRIMER WITH FIG EXTRACT

MINIMIZE PORES & PRIME HELLO FAB PORES BE GONE MATTE PRIMER WITH FIG EXTRACT ($28)

On those super oily days, I grab the Hello FAB Pores Be Gone Matte Primer With Fig Extract.  This is an oil-free matte-finish primer that makes pores appear smaller. It also is the one that makes my makeup last the longest throughout the day.

A PROPRIETARY BLEND (NORDIHYDROGUAIARETIC ACID/OLEANOLIC ACID)
Helps control skin’s sebum production.

SALICYLIC ACID
Helps skin appear brighter, improve texture and minimize the appearance of pores.

FIG EXTRACT
A superfood that is said to have antibacterial properties.

MINERAL SILICA
Minimizes the appearance of pores, leaving the complexion with a soft-focus finish.

This primer smells fabulous – like fresh figs, yum! It does an amazing job of mattifying skin, and it does make those pesky larger pores look like normal pores. I love how long my makeup lasts, and thanks to the salicylic acid it keeps my skin from breaking out.

So many options…which one are you going to choose??  – Lisa
